Getting ready to take a trip to France would like to use my iPhone there can you tell me how to unlock it and also what do I need to get service in France for short time one week

To unlock your iPhone you are going to have to speak to your carrier about that.
So far I have gone on 4 trips to Europe with my iPhone. I never unlocked my iPhone. I spoke to my carrier, ATT, and they set me up with a plan that prevented me from having to pay roaming charges. Once I returned from the trip I would call and have my service returned to normal. You might want to check with your carrier to see if they have a similar plan instead of having it unlocked.

Only the carrier to whom the device is locked can unlock it.
If you do not meet their requirements or they do not offer unlocking there is no official way to unlock the device.

No, no one here can help you, & neither can/will Apple. Only Orange can authorize the unlocking of your phone, & typical of most carriers, they will only do so for customers using the phone on their network.
Either establish service with Orange, then request the phone be unlocked, or sell it to someone that can use it on their network.

You need to contact the network provider to which the phone is locked. No-one else can do it for you.

Sounds like you bought an AT&T no contract phone. You will need to contact AT&T for unlocking but they are only doing so for current and previous account holders. If you have never had service with them they will not unlock your phone.

Contact the original cellular provider, as they are the only ones that can provide unlocking.

Again, the iPhone warranty is NOT international. And, if I may offer unsolicited advice, buying from ebay is always risky. Most sellers are less then honest when it comes to iPhones. They might state that the iPhone is unlocked when it is not; it might not be really unlocked or might be hacked/jailbroken.
My advice to you is to buy in the country you intend to use the phone and buy it from a legitimate source such as Apple or an authorized reseller.

How recently did you switch? If it's less than 60 days, then Verizon simply reinstates your previous account. The fact that you were on the EDGE plan and mailed the devices back, and they apparently are somewhere in the system, could cause complications, and it might just work out that you just go back on the same plan and they set you up with the same devices. I'm not sure how it will go - but since you are still being billed for the devices...
