Going to purchase a camera...suggestions?

I appreciate any/all feedback.
I'm looking to invest in a camera. I'm expecting to pay $5k or so(I know there are extras like P2 cards and such). I just am having a difficult time deciding whether to get Sony's HDV camera or Panasonic's HD (w/ the P2)...or is there an additional similar option?
I will be using it mainly for wedding shoots but I'm worried about having to stop and dump footage onto a laptop while solo at a wedding gig.
Also, would the snobbiest of clients see the difference in HDV vs HD whilst watching on their Blu-Ray player onto their 50" plasmas (I am fully aware of my future Blu-Ray issues i.e. how to make one that my client will be able to play on their player)
Any thoughts?

The previous doc I worked on we used HVX200's. The last doc we used Sony EX1's.
I was involved in production and post on both. So I understand the cams pretty well, their workflow and limitations both in production and post.
In picking a cam for the last job we shot test footage with an HVX200 and an EX1 at Chapman University and then used a 2k Barco in their theater to compare them.
We were all stunned by the EX1 footage...I mean it was quite remarkable.
I know there are many debates when comparing these two camera's. And people are quite passionate about the 200's, but...
Needless to say we bought two EX1's for the shoot.
Still it's not the cam I would recommend because Sony just released the EX3. Which IMO fixes all my issues with the EX1.
I would definitely recommend checking out an EX3 based on your comment about budget restraints.
B&H has always been cool with me. There are good local places here in SoCal also.
As far as ingesting goes with EX cams, it was a non event. For me the XDCAM Transfer was stable, quite fast and a pleasure to use.
I had a MacBook Pro and bus powered drives to ingest on location. However we had two cams running with 2 cards each and I never had to ingest on location. The DP and and 2nd camera would just give me their cards at the end of the days shoot.
