Going to upgrade v. 3.6 to current version 15., do i need to delete 3.6 first or just upgrade over current 3.6??

using HP laptop, Windows 7 home premium,
Any good advice before i begin?
George

It may be best to uninstall the current version to make sure that the registry gets updated properly.<br />
Otherwise it is possible that you still see the old entry in remove programs.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
*Firefox 15.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

  • HT201260 I am currently running OS X and need to get current to Mavericks.  Do I need to download Mountain Lion first or just Mavericks?

Do I need to upgrade to Mountain first or just go straight to Mavericks?

If you are running Snow Leopard (10.6.8), and your computer meets the other requirements, you can upgrade directly to Mavericks.
To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space

  • I'm organising my Aperture library today and I'm going to go through my photos folder, import the images to Aperture and then delete the original folders. Just curious if deleting the source folders is a big no-no or not.

Topic title basically sums it up.

Alright. For my case was, my source files are inside the Document folders. Since importing the pictures into Aperture, deleting the source files/folders did not cause any problems with Aperture.
Whether it is a good idea or would depend on how comforatble you are with the idea in the first place. On one hand you can save up precious hard disk space, while on the other if the Aperture library gets corrupted, you might lose everything. Of course, having a backup of the Aperture library helps, as well as a time machine backup of it. On top of that you can also have an Aperture Vault to backup the library to a external drive.
In summary i think a reasonlable backup plan is just as important regardless of whether or not the source file is in which location. For my case, i only have the Aperture library as all of my source. A time machine backs up everything including my library, in addition to that, i also use Aperture Vault to back up to another external drive just in case.

  • When is verizon going to upgrade fios speed tiers?

I'd like to upgrade my speed from 35/35 plan.  Does anyone know when Verizon is going to upgrade the fios speed tiers?  Compared to cable co docsis 3, fios is starting to look and feel slow.

Verizon does have higher speed tiers if you really want the additional speed. Their 50M/20M package is certainly feeling dated since it hasn't been updated in... 5 years? but they did introduce a 150M/75M package for a good deal of money a month, as fast but unfortunate as that might be. Now if what you're asking for is a speed boost on all the tiers, Verizon tends to boost the speeds every year to a year and a half. Lately these boosts have been silent. The 35Mbps tier, for example tends to clock in 43 or so Megabits on the download and about 38Mbps on the upload. Since you have that package, I'd check to see what you're really getting.
I would like to see 50Mbps/20Mbps go to 100Mbps/100Mbps sometime in the near future, though. 150Mbps/75Mbps goes to 250Mbps/250Mbps. That'd be very nice to see and by no means will DOCSIS 3.0 get that kind of upload any time soon.
As it currently stands, the highest DOCSIS 3.0 package available to me is 50Mbps/5Mbps. FiOS's basic package in my area still beats that plan in upload by an additional megabit. The legacy 50Mbps/20Mbps speed smokes that cable connection in upload, and is also $20 cheaper a month believe it or not.
Here, the packages run as follows:
1Mbps/384kbps DSL > Runs at 1Mbps/340kbps. Comparative Cable package: 768kbps/128kbps. ($25 for DSL and Cable).
    3Mbps/1Mbps > Runs at 5Mbps/2Mbps. Comparative Cable Package: 10Mbps/1Mbps ($30/m FiOS, $40/m Cable).
    15Mbps/5Mbps > Runs at 20Mbps/6Mbps. Comparative cable package: 15Mbps/2Mbps (~$50/m for Cable, $45 FiOS).
25Mbps/25Mbps > Runs at 30Mbps/26Mbps. Comparative Cable package: 30Mbps/5Mbps ($60/m for Cable, $55/m for FiOS).
35Mbps/35Mbps > Runs at 43Mbps/38Mbps, available if you have Phone or TV with FiOS. Comparative Cable package: 50Mbps/5Mbps (Same price as the 25Mbps for FiOS, Cable is $100/m).
    50Mbps/20Mbps > Runs at 51Mbps/20Mbps. Comparative Cable package: 50Mbps/5Mbps. ($80/m FiOS, $100/m Cable)
    150Mbps/35Mbps > Runs at 155Mbps/75+Mbps. Comparative Cable package: 50Mbps/5Mbps ($200/m FiOS, $100/m Cable).
So I guess it really depends on what market you live in, I guess. A Comcast or Cablevision market i'm sure would have higher speed Cable packages, and in the case of Cablevision, ones that cost less and that would be where I'd expect Verizon to boost speeds. Other than that, FiOS does have the overall edge in my area regardless, as long as you don't cheap out and go with the unadvertised packages.

I can't say personally since I never used AW, but see if these articles help:

I suggest that you clone your current drive with 10.6.8 to an external drive. If you have any issues after upgrading to Mavericks, you can boot back into 10.6.8.
Both of these applications can be used to create a clone. If you need help creating your clone, let us know.

Buy an external drive 320G or larger (much larger is preferable). I do not recommend you use TM for this, instead download a copy of Carbon Copy Cloner and make a clone of your drive. Once this is done you have 2 choices, you can download and install Lion on your internal drive just as you planned or download and install Lion to the external clone, the 2nd method allows you to test the Lion install before committing to it. If the clone with Lion is to your liking then just clone it back to the internal.

  • Is the mini going to upgrade right after I buy a new one?

A few years ago I bought the mac mini and a few months later they upgraded with the intel chip. I am planning on buying the latest version and I'm wondering if anyone has heard if they're going to upgrade soon and should I just wait.

    Hello and welcome to discussions,
No one here knows that. If anyone did know - They would never say so here. If you google the question or a variant of same... Who knows what you might find out!!!
    Regards.

I on os x 10.7 and I'm going to upgrade to 10.8 installed messages already do i have to uninstall and what about my mac os x 10.7 applications. Like word and minecraft What happens to them?

Not until the day that 10.8 is released will anyone know the details but it's doubtful you will have to uninstall Messages. Native Mac OS X applications that run on v10.7 shouldn't be a problem wtih 10.8 but again, we won't know until Mountain Lion is released.

  • How Much RAM?m going to upgrade

Hi I'm going to upgrade my RAM and I was wondering how much should I put in and Take out? The max memory on my computer is 3GB and the sims 3 needs 2GB?

P.S. Does Crucial ship to Australia

Then I would get one 2GB module. Combined with one of your 512mb modules, you will have 2.5GB of RAM. The additional RAM at 2.5GB will more than make up for not having a matched pair of 1GB modules.
Mac-oriented vendor OWC has done some testing that shows 2.5GB (2GB+512mb) generally performs better that 2GB (2x1GB)
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/MemoryBenchmark/AppleiMac/
Plus you have 0.5GB more RAM, and it may cost you less to get one 2GB module versus two 1GB modules.
To upgrade RAM, you open a door at the bottom edge of the iMac with a screw driver. Then you undo some latches to remove and replace the module(s). The instructions are in your manual, and you should follow them closely (although it's a simple procedure). The manual is available here as a PDF.
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/#imac
You should send Crucial an email yourself to ask about their shipping policies.

  • N96 Firmware Upgrade over NSU.

i just did an upgrade over NSU and the first attempt failed and came up with an error. but i've figured the trick is to keep 'retrying' and after abt 2 tries all goes well.
Just a lil tip i thought i'd share. Cheers!

Same here, and I think I have an explanation.
When the phone is put into "flash update" mode, Windows sees the new device and has to install the drivers. It can't update while doing this, thus the procedure fails.
Next time around when the phone is put into "flash update" mode again, those drivers are already installed and the update process can proceed unhindered by Windows' hardware wizard getting in the road.
In short, something is not being fully installed by the NSU installer. Hopefully a future release will put this right again.
