I need to go to a store for a silly messed up button on my iTouch, is there a way to sign up for a visit with someone in advance? Do they regularly do this?

Yes. There is a way to make a reservation with a Genius. I've heard there is way to do this online, but I've not found it.
I went in with an appointment once, and I believe the person I spoke with at Apple Support set up the appointment for me.
If you arrive at the store, those with reservations are helped first. If they have an opening they should fit you in.
You could also try calling the store. They probably have the ability to enter their own appointments for a genius.
There are basically three roles in a store - retail sales (people roaming the store to help people wanting to buy), point-of-sell (cash registers) and Apple Geniuses .. there is also the usual Manager, etc.

Can I bring Canadian 4S to a U.S. Apple Store for help?

My iphone 4s is Canadian but i'm having trouble with it, i'm going to the U.S. on holidays soon - Am i able to bring it to an Apple Store in the U.S. or will they send me away?

They may give you some help if it's general info or troubleshooting, but if you need to have it repaired/replaced, they won't be able to help you. Good luck!

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
      left mouse button until the disc ejects.
2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
4. Press COMMAND-E.
5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
      your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
        /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.

I have the MacIntosh volume and the Boot Camp partition only. I know that when I installed Lion, I had to go through a whole back-up and recovery of Windows and then re-format the drive.
The tech at the Apple Store had a previous life as a MSCE and was very helpful. I believe he even said that I should not have htis problem with Mountain Lion which is why they gave me the flash with it onboard. I was in the process of starting a new job when I went to Lion, so I have waited to do this next and probably last upgrade to this old MBP since I doubt Apple will support this MBP in Maverick.
I do not have another installation, so that is not an option. I will try to create an external, I have plenty of hard drives around and see if I can get it done that way. It might take me a week or two to get back to it, but I will comment back upon completion of that effort. Thanks for your help....Dave Iverson

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure.

Will going to an Apple Store fix these problems?

Hi,
Purchased a MacBook pro about four months ago.
I've had some slighty issues with heating and also there's some kind of metal part that is clinky and moves around (right under the trackpad).
The computer has also accumulated some dirt, even though I only use it in a very clean environment (no eating, no drinking, always on a clean glass desk).
Will going to an Apple store result in these issues being diagnosed / fixed for free under the 1 year warranty?

If the situation is as you described it, I should think so. You paid for the warranty service when you purchased the MBP, do use it.
