GoldenGate Instalation?
Hi there
I need to install a GoldenGate solution for replication on my job.
But, I installed a GoldenGate Veridata that controls the Jobs throught Groups of Objects, Nice.
But I really need a Replication Software and I dont found the steps to download and install the correct option.
Please send me a link or steps to make a correct download and the steps to install a GoldenGate Replication of databases.
Thanks a lot!
The installation that I need is on Windows 2003 R2 64Bits.

Okay.
The installation guide for Oracle can be found here:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E18101_01/doc.1111/e17799.pdf
There are some extra steps here and there for Windows. For example:
Itanium requirements
To install Oracle GoldenGate on a Microsoft Itanium system, the vcredist_IA64.exe runtime
library package must be installed. You can download this package from the Microsoft
website. This package includes VisualStudio DLLs necessary for Oracle GoldenGate to
operate on the Itanium platform. If these libraries are not installed, Oracle GoldenGate
generates the following error.
“The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on Ok
to terminate the application.
Third-party programs
● Before installing Oracle GoldenGate on a Windows system, install and configure the
Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package. Make certain it is the SP1
version of this package, and make certain to get the correct bit version for
your server. This package installs runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries. For
more information, and to download this package, go to http://www.microsoft.com.

Install oracle goldengate at ASM for data replication in RAC system?
Hi Experts,
We have 2 RAC server and each server have a 4 nodes RAC with 10R2 database in linux.
We will install oracle goldengate as data replication between two RAC servers.
Our database install on ASM in SAN box in linux
Based on Goldengate install requirement, 16. Set a shared driver that is accessed by each RAC nodes
and install goldebgate on shared driver.
As I understand, can we install goldengate on ASM that is shared by each node?
Or we MUST set up other shared driver ( NO ASM) for installation of goldengate.
Please advise me?
Thanks

Hi, Gurus. We are about to embark on GoldenGate DR failover / switchover configuration and testing using DBFS and Fuser. The details are described in Doc ID 1436913.1 and 1322547.1.
I know the basics of GoldenGate and Oracle DataGuard. But DBFS and Fuser are new concepts to me. I need some help.
1) Is GoldenGate installed in a DBFS partition on the primary? SO, DBFS has to be configured before it is installed?
2) Are these GoldenGate files and directories (ggsci, /dirdat, /dirrpt, etc) visible from UNIX level? Will I be able to navigate in the GG mount or is it a closed file system like ASM?
3) DBFS has to be a part of database. So, what happens if primary database crashes and cannot be mounted? My guess DBFS will not start because the database is down. Or does it run outside of database?
4) Does DBFS store just links to large files in the Oracle database, but the actual GoldenGate binaries files still reside on OS level? Ot they are INSIDE of the database - both GG binaries and trails?
5) How does GoldenGate replicates itself to standby? Because it is a part of database and primary archivelogs and redo logs send the changes to the standby? Or it ONLY runs until switchover/failover on the primary, but afterward it is simply unmounted from primary and mounted to standby by the oracle OS user and the scripts? Or is there a datapump and extract that send trails to standby and after the failure those trails are simply being used?
I guess that is my main question. Why do we bother with DBFS at all? We can simply add a standby extract/datapump to the primary. It will send trails to the standby, that will have only manager running. The manager will accept the trails, periodically deleting all older than lets say one week. At the time of failover/switchover we simply use the same queries as in the docs above to find out if standby became the new primary (the failover had occured). If it did, we can use the same script to get SCN from which this new incarnation started , use a shell script to use an obey file to add the replicat starting from that sequence and voila! Why do we need to bother with fuser and cumbersome DBFS at all? Please let me know what I am missing. If there are alternative to this DBFS DR GoldenGate switchover I would like to use which ever one is the simplest. Thanks.Looking at the information provided by you. You have created a flashback restore point and then activated your standby database. As you have flashback restore you can flashback your current primary database(old standby) to standby mode but all your changes made on your database will be lost. And you have not done a switchover. you have activated your standby.

Hi all,
I have checked installers of GodelGate both in OTN and E-delivery.
I am just confused. There is separate GG for windows and there is also serapate GG for sqlserver? are they the same thing?
Similarly, there is GG for linux and there is separate GG for oracle for linux?
Suppose I have Sqlserver , Oracle 10g, and Oracle11g in my windows 2008 server. How many types of GoldenGate should I install? Assuming I want to replicate data to all 3 databases?
thanks again...The short answer to your questions is as follows:
There is a version of GoldenGate for each OS and Database combination so you would download GoldenGate for SQL/Server on Windows 2008 Server, Oracle 10g on Windows 2008 Server and Oracle 11g on Windows 2008 Server. For a total of 3 different versions of GoldenGate installed on your machine.
I'd create 3 specific Oracle GoldenGate homes, one for for each version:
C:\u01\app\oracle\product\11.2.1\gghome_sqlserver
C:\u01\app\oracle\product\11.2.1\gghome_oracle10g
C:\u01\app\oracle\product\11.2.1\gghome_oracle11g
The long answer is as follows:
GoldenGate is very, very cool!
Basically your Extract and Replicat processes are 'magic' in that they are configured (via parameter files) the same (generally) for every database and operating system that is supported, but because they are compiled for each specific OS/Database configuration the GoldenGate team has done all the work of figuring out how to make an extract work against any database and a replicat work against any database. The extract pulls stuff out and (in general) writes it to a 'GoldenGate canonical format' which we then move across the network and write to the destination in the same canonical format. The replicat reads this canonical format and translates it into destination specific SQL DML (and/or DDL) statements.
So once you have learned how to configure GoldenGate for Oracle 10g on Windows, you can leverage that same knowledge for both Oracle 11g and SQL/Server (and DB2, and MySQL, etc...).
To enable this, the GoldenGate team compiles a specific version of GoldenGate for each OS and Database version.
Does that help? -
Good Morning people,
I write today in the hopes that someone has the answer to this problem. I have been installing (or trying to) GG on a Linux and Solaris server. I have been working through the ggserr.log file to correct all the complaints GG is throwing out and I have only one more to resolve then hopefully GG will run.
The problem is in the replicat at the destination server. The error log indicated the following error:
Bad column index (8) specified for table scott.emp, max colums = 8.
The history behind this error is the following. During the initial setup when I didn't understand alot about gg I followed a procedure that added a column to the emp table. Later I removed that column thinking that would be the end of it. I enabled the DDL synchro to try to get rid of the error and then disabled the DDL syncho after that failed. Still the error remains after testing. Right now I am in the process of doing a MAP generation and will copy that file from the source to target to the to the directory that is recommended: dirdef. Hopefully that will eliminate the error.
My question is: Has anyone else seen this error :OGG-01161 above and what was the solution to this? Right now I am stumped as to why my replicat won't run. It starts then abends.
Thanks in advance for any help on this matter that you can provide.
Regards,
AlTry Below formate:
Example 2 – source and target table differ in column structure
In the source MYEMP table we have a column named SAL whereas on the target, the same MYEMP table has the column defined as SALARY.
Create a definitions file on the source using DEFGEN utility and then copy that definitions file to the target system
GGSCI (redhat346.localdomain) > EDIT PARAMS defgen

Retrieving definition for SCOTT.MYEMP
Definitions generated for 1 tables in /u01/oracle/ggs/dirsql/myemp.sql
If we were to try and run the replicat process on the target without copying the definitions file, we will see an error as shown below which pertains to the fact that the columns in the source and target database are different and GoldenGate is not able to resolve that.
2010-02-23 11:31:07 GGS WARNING 218 Aborted grouped transaction on ‘SH.MYEMP’, Database error 904 (ORA-00904: “SAL”: invalid identifier).

We then ftp the definitions file from the source to the target system – in this case to the dirsql directory located in the top level GoldenGate installed software directory
We now go and make a change to the original replicat parameter file and change the parameter ASSUMEDEFS to SOURCEDEFS which provides GoldenGate with the location of the definitions file.
The other parameter which is included is the COLMAP parameter which tells us how the column mapping has been performed. The ‘USEDEFAULTS’ keyword denotes that all the other columns in both tables are identical except for the columns SAL and SALARY which differ in both tables and now we are mapping the SAL columsn in source to the SALARY column on the target.

salary = sal);
We now go and start the originall replicat process myload2 which had abended because of the column mismatch (which has now been corrected via the parameter change) and we see that the process now is running without any error.
now go and start the process which had failed after table modification

Golden Gate obey not returning.
Hello,
I am attempting to use golden gate to go from single instance 10.2.0.4 on sparc to exadata 11.2.0.3 on linux server.
When I run the obey command on the source side in golden gate, it seems to process ok, then just hangs and never returns. There is no error produced, it just sits there staring at me, mocking me! Since this is on the 10.2.0.4 side, I will provide that information first.
I believe I have installed all the gg software correctly for each server, if anyone has seen this before or if there is a bug I am unaware of, please let me know. Here is the pertinent information.

It seems like you're using IPv6 on your network but not a version of OGG that supports it. IPv6 support started in OGG 11.2, which you are using. And this shouldn't be an error you'd see from creating something. It just doesn't make sense.
Running the obey file will echo back each command before it runs it so you should be able to see exactly which command is hanging. And in the ggserr.log there should be something.
I'd try cutting and pasting each command from the obey to GGSCI and run them one at a time. If you're still not getting insight then I'd start ggsci in one window, in another window get the PID and truss -p PID and see what system call it does before hanging.
Good luck,

GoldenGate GGSCI not installing on Windows 7
Hi,
I have downloaded "Oracle GoldenGate V11.1.1.1.0 for Oracle 11g 64bit on Windows XP, 2003, 2008" File Name "V26209-01" from https://edelivery.oracle.com
My laptop's operating system is MS Windows 7.
I have also installed "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x64)".
When I go to the directory that contains the extracted GG zip file and excute "GGSCI" for installing GoldenGate, following error is encountered
C:\ggtraining\ggshome1>ggsci
Error Message: “The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on Ok"
Kindly let me know if we can install Oracle GoldenGate 11.1.1.1.0 on Windows 7 ?
I feel that "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x64)" is incorrect..
Kindly guide
Thanks in advanceUse this link:

Problem in installing GoldenGate Director on weblogic 12c
hello friends,
we have a server with weblogic 12c and a basic domain namely "base_domain" on it.(i have no earlier experience about weblogic).its path is "D:\Oracle\Middleware_HOME\wlserver_12.1"
i can start its AdminServer and we can login to its console.
now i want to install GoldenGate Director Server.but in installing process when i set Weblogic location it gives me error :
"Please Select a valid weblogic install Directory"
i tried all of these paths :
"D:\Oracle\Middleware_HOME\wlserver_12.1"
"D:\Oracle\Middleware_HOME"
"D:\Oracle"
but the error remains yet.
i installed weblogic on another machine but nothing changed.
another thin is that i checked all places that oracle documents tells that should be updated
i mean :
1 Update the registry.xml file in Weblogic home directory to point to the
correct WebLogic Server home directory.
2 Update all of the scripts under %WLS_SERVER_HOME%/server/bin and %WLS_
SERVER%/common/bin to point to the correct WebLogic Server home directory.
3 Update the .product.properties file under %WLS_SERVER_HOME% to point to the
correct WebLogic Server home directory.
1 & 2 are correct (i think) but i couldn't find third one "product.properties"
please help me.
Whats the problem?
weblogic Servers : Windows Server 2008 64-bit SP2 and Windows Seven Ultimate 64bit
Weblogic version : oepe-indigo-installer-12.1.1.0.1.201203120349-12.1.1-win32
GoldenGate Director : gg-director-serversetup_win_v11_1_1_1_0_001You should specify the middle-ware home direction.
The error normally caused by the wrong version installed, which doesn’t have the correct registry.xml in MW_HOME. I met this problem in the past which is because I installed a dev version of WLS in zip file.
After I install the installable version( I think it is the same version you used: oepe-indigo-installer-12.1.1.0.1.201203120349-12.1.1-win32.exe of WLS, it works fine. -

NickThank you for your suggestion. I can certainly try pointing to a different temp folder, but how much space does it need?
/u00/temp appears to have quite a bit of space available...

Also, I verified TMP, TMPDIR, and TEMP all point to /u00/temp.
And the preinstallation check shows this:
Checking Temp space: must be greater than 1536 MB. Actual 73797 MB Passed
Checking swap space: must be greater than 500 MB. Actual 5951 MB Passed
Checking monitor: must be configured to display at least 256 colors. Actual 16777216 Passed
It might be worth mentioning, as well, that I get the same result, whether I use ...Disk1/runInstall.sh or ...Disk1/install/linux64/runInstall.sh
The file I originally posted came from trying the linux64 installer.
What else can we check/try?

What is it that tells the installer there is an application server running? Is it checking for some WebLogic environment variable I may have incorrectly configured? I have a WebLogic server running, and it is hosting a Forms server and a help server. Why does the installer think there is no Application Server installed?

Goldengate replication performance
Hi ,
This is about Goldengate replication performance.
Have configured Goldengate replication between OLTP and Reporting and the business peak hours occurs only for a one hour.
at that time I can see a LAG on the replicat side of around 10-15 minutes.
Rest of all the time there is no LAG.
I reviewed the AWR report of the target and I could see all the replicat process are executing with a elapsed time of 0.02 or 0.01 seconds.
However I could see a major wait event DB sequential read of 65%-71% of DB time and it is having the maximum Waits. apart from this there are no major wait event contributing to % DB time.(21% od DB CPU which I believe is normal )
and I can also see few queries are being hit at that peak time since it is a reporting server. and they are using select query which executes more than 15-20 minutes specially on the High transaction table.
Can you please advise where I should look on to resolve the LAG during the Peak hours.
I believe the select operation/wait event is causing the LAG during that peak hours. Am I correct.
can you please advise from your experience.
Thanks
SurendranHi Bobby,
Thanks for your response.
Please find my response as below,
Environment details as below.
1. Source and target DB - oracle database enterprise edition v 11.2.0.4
2. Goldengate version. 12.1.2.0.0 (Same Golden-gate version installed on source and target)
3 Classic CDC process is configured between source and target Goldengate.
Queries and response
Is there any long running transactions on the extract side?
No, long running transaction is seen, I can see a huge volume of transaction getting populated (over 0.3M records in 30 minutes)
Target environment information
High transaction DML activities is seen only on 3 tables.
As the target is reporting environment I can see many sql's querying those 3 high transaction populating tables and I can see DB sequential read wait event spiking up to 65%-71%.
I can also see in the AWR report that the GG session are executing the insert/update transaction is less than 0.01/2 sec.
Have to set the report for every 10 min. I will update to 1 min and share the report.
My query is : Is the select operation executed on that high transaction table on the reporting server during that high transaction window is causing the bottleneck and causes the LAG during that peak hours ?
or Do I need to look on other area's ?
Based on above information If you any further comments/advise please share.
Thanks

GoldenGate Installation Queries...
Please help me on the below questions..??
I got some questions on oracle goldengate configuration:
1) My source and Destination are in different nodes, then do I need to configure listener @ target db and Tns @ source db?
2) If my source and destination are resides in the same system, can I user same port for the both source and target dbs?
3) I have tried GG in the single node with two dbs' called source and target. with different ports. But I installed goldengate two times in two locations (same node) each for source and target dbs respectively. Is it a right thing?
Also please find current my configuration:
Source : 11gR2, GG11, RHEL 4
Target : 11gR2, GG11, RHEL 4
I tried configuring GG, started manager, extarct at source db, and manager, replicat at target db.but table's DML is not getting replicated. I tried this in the same server ( as step 3).
Thank you,
HarryTry going through the tutorial first.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/goldengate/learnmore/ogg-tutorial-ora-to-ora-10-4-177139.pdf
You can reason out all of your questions.
On the target, with GG trying to apply DML against the database, how is DML done? Just like it is anywhere: from a connection to the database. What does it take to connect to an Oracle database, from a client perspective?
There is no reason why two databases (instances) cannot share the same listener.
If you want to work on two Word documents, do you need to install Office twice? No. If you have two databases (on the same server) running at the same release, do you need to install Oracle twice? No. Take a guess on what the answer to having to install GoldenGate twice is. -
GoldenGate compatibilty with oracle 11.1.0.7 db
Hi, my database is 11.1.0.7 on linux x86_64. What version of GoldenGate should download and install. Thanks in advance
The OGG build for Linux. It will work on Oracle 11.1 and 11.2, as well as a number of different linux versions.
If you want to use OGG 11.2, I would strongly recommend that you download it from the support website and not from edelivery. I would recommend going with 11.2.1.0.15 or 11.2.1.0.16.
If you are going to use OGG 12.1, then download it from edelivery. -
Oracle 11g Goldengate working in a Data Guard environment
Hey Guys, I have the following setup:
Oracle 11.2.0.4.4 running on RHEL 6.6 64-bit
3 node RAC Primary
Single-node Standby with GI (Oracle Restart)
4 DBs on Primary - AA, BB, CC and DD
4 DBs running in Active Standby - AADR, BBDR, CCDR and DDDR
Databases AA and BB replicate schemas into CC, which is a Reporting/Operational Data Store. GoldenGate 11.2.x is used for the replication
XAG used for Goldengate HA
All good here with the Primary DBs and replication humming along quite nicely.
I have questions as part of building the DR environment. How should this work? As part of the real-time apply and active standby, CCDR should keep pace with the replicated primary DB CC. Now from a role transition perspective, I need to be have the GoldenGate software installed and configured on the Standby Server for starting the processes.
Question 1: When the role transition happens, based on the data guard role, I could well have a system trigger to spawn off a shell script that starts off the goldengate processes. Would this be the correct approach?
Question 2: Do I need to worry about setting/starting the extract/replicat from a specific CSN? The checkpoint table will be kept in sync as part of the SQL apply, so would just starting the extract and replicat process on the new Primary (old DR) work?
I am unable to get any pointers on this in Metalink. Would appreciate anyone could point me to a MOS document that talks about using GG and Data Guard together.
ThanksOn the first day, there is no backup to recover. It is only on the third day's run that this command will really be successful.
The white paper does explain this.
