GoLive component sizing and replace-all

My Web site has a number of pages with a single GoLive "component" as a navigation bar (navbar). I have created a new navbar in InDesign, saved it as a PDF and as a .gif.
(1) Do I size the new navbar precisely in InDesign, or on each page in GoLive? Or elsewhere?
(2) How do I properly get the PDF or gif into the web-content > Components folder?
(3) How do I replace all navbars in the Web site with the new one? One at a tme? Or--???
Thank you.

  • Using applescript for Find and Replace All in Pages 2.0

    i saw that Pages 2.0 is scriptable
    i try to create a script for merge use to find and replace all occurence of a certain string using a script but Pages doesn't seems to respond to "Find" even using "System Events"
    how can i do to use this function with a script

    OK, here's another example. This one gets the text as a string and uses the offset property to find "[", presuming it to be a merge delimiter. (Pages' text doesn't support "offset of").
    One failing of this scheme is that the offsets are incorrect if you have inline objects (pictures, shapes, tables, etc.). While it is probably possible to compensate for them, that's a trickier proposition.
    <PRE>-- Example merge replacements:
    property mergeText : {"[name]", "John Smith", "[address]", "1234 Anystreet"}
    on lookup(mergeWord)
    set theCount to count of mergeText
    repeat with x from 1 to theCount by 2
    if item x of mergeText = mergeWord then
    return item (x + 1) of mergeText
    end if
    end repeat
    -- If merge field is not found, delete it (replace it with the empty string)
    return ""
    end lookup
    tell application "Pages"
    repeat
    tell body text of document 1
    -- Get text as a string so that "offset of" can be used.
    set allText to it as string
    set startOffset to offset of "[" in allText
    if (startOffset = 0) then
    exit repeat
    end if
    set endOffset to offset of "]" in allText
    select (text from character startOffset to character endOffset)
    end tell
    set mergeWord to contents of selection
    tell me to lookup(mergeWord)
    set replacement to result
    set selection to replacement
    if (replacement is "") then
    -- Get rid of extra whitespace (space or return)
    -- Do it in a "try" block to handle edge cases at start or end of text.
    try
    set theSel to (get selection)
    set ch1 to character before theSel
    set ch2 to character after theSel
    if ((ch1 is " " or ch1 is return) and (ch2 is " " or ch2 is return)) then

  • Search and replace all spaces between quotes with uderscore

    Hello,
    I'm new on Powershell and I'm trying to make the script that:
    searches over file and replaces all the spaces which have been found between quotes;
    removes all quotes (except these which has not value eg "").
    For example:
    Source file:
    string3=string4 string="string1 string2 string23" string8="" string5="string7 string8"
    Destination file:
    string3=string4 string=string1_string2_string23 string8="" string5=string7_string8
    I have been created script that searches the data correctly
    $file="c:\scripts\mk.txt"
    $data=Get-Content $file
    $1
    $regex = [regex]@'
    (?x) # ignore pattern whitespace option
    (?<test>(["'])(?:(?=(\\?))\2.)*?\1)
    $data |% {
    if ($_ -match $regex){
    new-object psobject -property @{
    test = $matches['test']
    }#when adding "|select-object test" I'm getting the correct data
    I have stopped here on search / replace operation (from space to underscore, and by removing the quotes leaving the empty quotes non touched). Can you help me to finish the script?
    Thanks!

    Try this.  It uses the [Regex] Replace static method, with a script block delegate:
    $file="c:\scripts\mk.txt"
    $data=Get-Content $file
    $regex = '(\S+=[^"\s]+)|(\S+="[^"]+")'
    $delegate = { $args[0].value.replace(' ','_') -replace '"(.+)"','$1' }
    $data |% { [regex]::Replace($_,$regex,$delegate) }
    [string](0..33|%{[char][int](46+("686552495351636652556262185355647068516270555358646562655775 0645570").substring(($_*2),2))})-replace " "

  • I do i find and replace all in numbers

    How do I find and replace all.  It is time-consuming to find and replace one entry at a time.

    Works here. As you can see, all three instances were located, in my test.
    Can you think af anything that could be different in your case than in my example?

  • ICloud saved my daughter's Pages documents and replaced all of my documents with hers. My documents are not on iCloud, how do I get them back?

    My daughter saved her Pages documents to my iCloud account on her iPhone while my documents were apparently saved only to my phone. Never had a problem with that until tonight when iCloud synched so now I have all of my daughter's homework but all of my paperwork is gone! I logged into iCloud and it is only her documents there. How do I get my Pages documents back without a backup?
    iphone 4s, version 6.1.3

    If you took the picture on your iPhone, they are still there on your iPhone, unless you specifically deleted a particular picture from your iPhone. And likewise, if the picture was taken on your iPad, it is still there on your iPad, unless you specifically deleted that picture from the iPad.
    Now ... if you're counting on pictures still "being there" from being on the Photostream ... don't count on that, because that's only a temporary place and it has a time limit and a count limit for how many picture it will have. While the pictures you took on your iPhone and iPad will remain on each one respectively (so you won't lose those), it won't necessarily remain on the Photostream part ... which is only for sharing anyway ... and not meant for storage.
    Whatever pictures you had on your Camera Roll and thus is in the backup in iCloud, will still be there.

  • Convert AND REPLACE all my Songs to MP3

    I want to save space on my iPod, so I want to convert my entire library to MP3. None of the songs are protected. I'm on a PC.
    I know I can select all the songs, and choose Advanced/Create MP3 version, but then I'll have two versions of every tune, and no way to easily select and delete the non-MP3 versions.
    I've googled and found no info on this, though I would think that many people want to do exactly this.

    The latest builds of iTunes include a feature that will create lower bit-rate versions on the fly as the device is syncing in order to increase the number of tracks you can place on the device, albeit by sacrificing a little quality. If you use this feature there are no complicated sets of duplicate files to contend with and you need do nothing other than excercise a little more patience when syncing, particularly the first time you enable the feature...

  • I duplicated a picture and now iPhoto (11) is cloning that picture replacing all the other photos and only when I click directly on them I can see the real picture! How can I solve the problem without losing any saved picture? Shall I re-install? Thanx

    I duplicated a picture selecting CMD and D but, suddenly, iPhoto (latest version '11) started cloning that picture and replacing all the other photos with it.
    Only when I click directly on one photo I can open it and see the real picture it is.
    But the preview is always the duplicated one...
    I tryed to duplicate another picture just to see if it turned out ok but the only changement was the duplicated picture!
    I started repeating the second duplicated one instead of the previous one but my issue remained the same.
    So, how can you help me to solve this problem without losing any saved picture?
    Shall I re-install iPhoto completely?
    Thank you very very much in advance!!

    As Larry says, restoring the back up is the fastest and best solution. Otherwise:
    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Find and replace in RTF Template

    Hi,
    I'm using a if statement in my template, but i need to change a value within this statement. It's being used multiple times, therefor it would be easier to do a find and replace, is there a way to do a find and replace within the RTF template? Already openede it in Notepad++, but no luck
    Osman

    I don't think there is a way to find and replace all.. You can view all the code by using Field Browser -> Show All and then replace the code and update one by one from there..
    Thanks,

  • How do I create a multiple find and replace for Excel in AppleScript?

    I have a large dataset in Excel that I have to do a multiple find/replace in (changing USPS state abbreviations to their full names). In searching the Microsoft boards--I was directed to use Applescript, and even the documented help with Excel was recommeding this. Unfortunately, there wasn't much help potinting me in the specific direction I needed. Any ideas on how I should write this script?
    Thanks!

    I'm confused as to why Applescript (or any script would be helpful).
    You'd have to type the abbreviation and the full name into the script, the same as just using Find and Replace All. You wouldn't gain anything by using a script. Is there more to this task than you've let on?
    MacTech has an article on converting from VBA to Applescript, but I'm not sure if it would have any ideas on your specific problem: http://www.mactech.com/vba-transition-guide/index-toc.html

  • How do you find and replace "within selected text" in a textedit document (version 1.8, mountain lion)

    In the textedit version on Snow leopard it was possible to search and replace within a peice of selected text only i.e. not the entire file. This was a very useful feature because you could select a paragraph and replace all occurences of word1 with word2 within that paragraph only! This feature appears to be missing from the mountain lion version of textedit (version 1.8). Or can anyone tell me how to do it ... ?

    Having 46 people view a post without replying is not unusual. Some people look at a question to see if it's something they'd like to know the answer to, and then come back  when it has eventually been answered.
    I'm not sure if you need to escape forward slashes in Dreamweaver's Find and Replace dialog box, but I normally do because both JavaScript and PHP normally use forward slashes as delimiters to mark the beginning and end of the regex like this:
    var pattern = /[A-Z]{4}/; // JavaScript
    $pattern = '/[A-Z]{4}/';   // PHP
    When a forward slash appears inside the regex, you need to escape it with a backslash to avoid confusion with the closing delimiter.
    As you have worked out, a capturing group is created by wrapping part of the regex in parentheses.
    If you want to match exactly 38 characters, you can use [\S\s]{38}. That includes spaces, newline characters, symbols, everything.
    If you're trying to find everything between two tags, you can do this:
    (<\/tag_name>)([^<]+)
    The closing tag is captured as $1 and everything up to the next opening tag is captured as $2.
    Learning regular expressions is not easy. I don't claim to be an expert, but I enjoy the challenge of trying to solve them. If you're interested in regular expressions, there are several books published by O'Reilly. "Mastering Regular Expressions" is the ultimate authority, but it's a difficult read (not because it's badly written, but because of the complexity of the subject). "Regular Expressions Cookbook" is very good. There's also a new "Introducing Regular Expressions", but I haven't read it.

  • Export functionality save/replace all

    Is there any way to replace all files by an export?  It is annoying to have to overwrite each and every file when I export all pages from a fireworks project after having exported once before.
    There should be a checkbox allowing the user to export and replace all files instead of having to be asked for each and every file.  I have to sit there clicking enter 100+ times for some of my projects.

    Well, there's always the option to export to a new folder. That's what I'd recommend.
    But it would be nice if there were a checkbox or a button within that first prompt, to "apply to all" or "replace all". (BTW, is this an HTML export, or a different type of output?)
    You could request something like this using Adobe's official feature request submission form:

  • Can I do search and replace in a batch?

    Hi, Everyone:
    Years ago before I start useing Indesign, I had a Chinese Desktop Prepress program named Westwinner, With tahat I could create a file putting all entries  needed to search and replace in, and search and replace all of them in one shot. Now I wonder if I can do the same with Indesign CS4.
    For your reference, the file for batch search I used in Westwinner looks like that:
    x@x'
    y@y'
    z@z'
    etc.
    Thanks for everyone that reply!

    I meant that scripts can be edited in a plain text editor like Notepad on Windows or the equivalnet on Mac. You still need to understand the scripting language. That script should be availble in AppleScript, VBScript (which work only on Mac or Windows, repectively) or JavaScript, which is cross-platform.
    You don't actually need to edit the script itself very much, I suspect, if at all. In the Javascript version (I'm looking at that in the ESTK) on line 116 you'll see: var myFindChangeFile = myFindFile("/FindChangeSupport/FindChangeList.txt")
    This line is telling the script to find the file FindChangeList.txt in the FindChangeSupport folder which shoujld be inthe same folder as the the script itself. All of the instructions for want to find and how to change it are in that text file, which is a tab-delimited file with each find/change operation on a single line. The stucture of that file is described in the comments section above the script code, so you should be able to design a new file to do what you need to do, then change that single line defining the variable to find the new text file and save the script. If you replace the existing FindChangeList.txt with your own file you wouldn't even need to edit the variable, but the script as written is so useful I wouldn want to give it up, so I'd make a new text file, edit the variable, and save the script with a new name for your own searches.
    I'm not really a script writer, myself. I read javascript fairly well so I was able to see how this script works, but if you need more help you probably should move over to the scripting forum and talk to the real experts.

  • Is there a "Replace All" command?

    This seems like a no-brainer....  I found the  "Ctrl+F" find and replace, but it only replaces a sindle instance of a text string.  I also found the complext find dialog.  It lets you find all occurances, but (apparently) you cannot do replaces from there.  Is it possible to do a "Find and Replace All" in my PDF?
    Many Thanks.
    Win 7, Acr XI.

    The more you think of Acrobat as being like Word, the more frustrating it will get. Text editing is a desperate last resort, not a normal process.

  • Switching computers and losing all my itunes

    I got a new computer (with windows vista)and when I connected my ipod and re-downloaded itunes and downloaded a few songs an information window popped up ans said an itunes library already exists if you sync these songs (the new few I downloaded)all other library will be deleted from your ipod. I don't want that I have almost 400 songs in there. Is there a way to transfer my old itunes library to my new computer? Please help. Could you please reply to my email address [email protected] thank you so much.

    Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
    Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
    The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
    There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
    Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.
