  • Golive CS2 crashing with SFTP while synchronizing with server

I'm using latest Update Golive CS2 (8.01) with SFTP.
Sometimes Golive crashes while synchronizing with the server (publish-server -> Synchronize all; Sorry, can't remember the correct english context menue entry because i'm runnig german version).
    The error message box says:
    "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Buffer overrun detected
    Program: P:\Adobe\Adobe Golive CS2\GoLive.exe
An buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated."
If i use FTP, all is running fine.
Deleting the Golive preferences did not result in any effort.
On these servers runnig SFTP i cannot switch back to FTP because of privacy/confidentional reasons.

I started having this exact same problem yesterday. I never had it before and nothing had changed on my system prior to the problem starting (no Windows updates, or others). Mine is also GoLive CS2. I have used it every since I purchased it direct from Adobe while it was still the "current version". And likewise, it happens when using SFTP for transfer.
Thinking maybe a program file had become corrupted, I ran the installation over and selected "repair". It completed without issue. And I reactivated without any problem. But the issue still exists.
Interestingly, certain files trigger it every time while it seems random otherwise. One file that will do it every time is a small gif image in one site. I recreated that image from scratch and it still does it.

  • Adobe GoLive CS2 for Windows?

I need a copy of Adobe GoLive CS2 for Windows. Where can i buy one?

It is no longer for sale through legitimate retail channels. You could test your luck by finding a copy for sale on eBay but those are most often pirated. You might as well find a pirated copy for free than give your credit card info to a pirate.
If all you need is 30 days of use, I think you can still find the CS2 trial at ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub

  • Can't open site in GoLive CS2, error (-5000) help!

I've created 7 different sites with GoLive CS2 over the years and they are all files on my Mac laptop.  I went to open one that I haven't had to change in a while and I can't, I just get a window with this, "Could not open Document, OS Error (-5000)" So is this a GoLive error or something with my Mac OSX system?  I can't open any completed GoLive CS2 sites with Dreamweaver, only page by page and then I can't upload the changes since my site FTP info is in the GoLive version websites.  Of the 7 sites, I can only open 3.
    Help please...

FTP user account info is portable. Find out what the user name and password is for the accounts and enter them in Dreamweaver.
You do not mention what version of OS X you are using but it is highly likely that a user of a newer Mac is going to have troubles with GoLive. It was written for older Macs.

  • GoLive CS2 DOES run on Windows 7 Ultimate  64bit

I recently purchased CS6 Master Collection for a new workstation, determined to finally make the switch from GoLive CS2 to Dreamweaver CS6. I built my first web site with GoLive, and although I chose at the time to forego all of GoLive's drag and drop capability, choosing instead to code my HTML and CSS by hand, I did learn early on to take full advantage of the Template functionality, a real timesaver. Regardless of what ANYBODY says about the migration path from GoLive to Dreamweaver, NONE of them work worth a damn, and as a career SW engineer, I think it's sorry that Adobe hasn't done better, because they could have. Like many of you long-time GoLive users out there, I searched the internet and this forum high and low for a single helpful post that would allow me to migrate my web sites to DW. The migration tools Adobe provides, both the one for GoLive CS2 to export a DW site (yeah, right) and the extension for DW CS6, are all but useless. The one for GoLive skips template files and deletes code from the HTML. The one in DW CS6 complains about 'locked regions' in templates, just before it crashes. It never even completes. In trying to migrate my site, Adobe couldn't even handle  a site made up of pure HTML, CSS, and a little handcoded Javascript thrown in, and which uses ONLY templates (no components, snippets, or dropped items, or special GoLive generated code). It would take me weeks to do this by hand.
Well, since I don't have 2 weeks or a month to fix a web site that already works, I focused on getting GoLive CS2 to run on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS, since I had been hearing rumors of problems, or where it didn't run at all. However, with the help of many others, and in particular a forum contributor called Cinti on a Microsoft forum, of all places (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/windows-7-is-n ot-compatible-with-adobe-photoshop/6f1b4955-7166-4b8f-ad9b-5d19150f803f?page=2), I was able to get GoLive loaded and working without any issues, just as it did under Windows XP Pro. I had a bit of an issue, however, since I found out when I upgraded from CS to CS2 way back when that the installer would not actually read from a CD drive, even though you must insert Disk 1 of CS in a CD drive for verification of your upgrade, unless you already have CS installed on your machine, which I didn't in this case. If you face this problem, here is what I did to make it work, and this is prior to the hint needed that Cinti provided
    (1) Create an ISO image of the CS Installation Disk 1 and save it to your hard drive somewhere. You can do this with most CD/DVD burning SW, like Nero, Roxio, etc. Just create a standard ISO image file. It's a file with an .iso extension, and is basically an image of the CD, but not one that Explorer can browse.
    (2) Download a free copy of Daemon Tools lite (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/products/dtLite), which has the capability to 'mount' this ISO image, and present it to your OS as a real (actually virtual) CD drive. This allows the installer to be able to read from a CD drive,  since it can't read from an actual physical CD drive on your system. I got this whole workaround about using a virtual CD from Adobe, btw, so it's a known problem.
This will let you get your upgrade verification out of the way, if you run into it. Next, the CS2 installer will present you with a screen asking where you'd like to install the CS2 program files. The default it shows (at least for me) is C:\Program Files\Adobe. However, on Win7 64bit, this folder is reserved for ONLY 64 bit applications. There is another folder, C:\Program Files (x86) that is reserved for 32 bit applications, like GoLive. Unfortunately, as Cinti correctly points out, if you put this text in the box, the installer complains about invalid characters. Cinti also added two too many characters in the name before the ~ too, it can only have 8 total (as part of the 8.3 file naming syntax), and since the 64 bit folder is Progra~1, the one we want is Progra~2. What I found that works is the following:
    (1) When the dialog appears asking for the folder in which to install CS2, click on Browse, and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86), which is then filled into the box automatically for you.
    (2) Edit that text to read (exactly) C:\Progra~2\Adobe CS2. If you do anything other than this, the Next button will not be active. If that happens, just restart the installer and try again.
    (3) Click Next to continue with the installation. At this point, you might want to select only GoLive to install, unless you want all of CS2 to install.
Upon completion, I found that GoLive works as expected without issue. I'm very happy now, and can focus on more important things than trying to do Adobe's job of migration for them. Perhaps by CS 13 Adobe will have fixed their miserable migration scripts. In the meantime, why not just "Don't worry, be happy!"
    Cheers,
    Shane

  • Flash Text not displaying in GoLive CS2 HTML page

    Greetings All!
I have created some simple scrolling text in Flash Pro 8. I published the SWF into my GoLive CS2 web site. I can see everything when I open the SWF file or the accompanying HTML file, but when I place the SWF into an HTML page in GoLive, the text doesn't appear. The arrows to control the text are there, but there is no text. Has anyone else come across this? Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Mike

There is something wrong with how it is accessing the text in the Flash file itself. When I downloaded the file, it gives me an error stating it cannot find the textOurStory.txt file.
You may need to change the link so the flash (embedded at a different address) can find it. Something like "new/flash/textOurStory.txt" should do it, I think (maybe an absolute path might work better http://www...)

  • GoLive CS2 & Win7 - "Unknown Publisher"

This may be more of a Windows 7 issue than an Adobe/GoLive one...but I thought someone here might be able to help! Whenever I open GoLive CS2 in Windows 7, I get the User Account Control pop up window, asking me if  I want to allow the program "from an unknown publisher" to make changes to my computer. Is there any way to get this message to go away without lowering my User Account Control security setting? It's really annoying to see it pop up everytime I open GoLive!

Adobe started to digitally sign its apps in CS3 so any prior app can kick that warning about an unknown publisher.
A Google search leads to plenty of ways to minimize UAC warnings, all with various consequences.  I'm still experimenting myself.

  • GoLive CS2 won't set background color

I have GoLive CS2 by way of investing in the whole CS2 package, so it wasn't a standalone installation. I have installed all of the recent updates.
I go to Properties to set the background color. It sets it to "Black" in the HTML code, but it doesn't show up either in GoLive or in my web browser when I preview it. I also tried setting the black hex value "000000", and that has the same problem. It won't do any other colors, either.
I can set the bg color to things like a layout grid, but that doesn't really solve my problem.
    What gives, Adobe?

I do, and I didn't tamper with it. However, I found a solution to my problem last night. It was still clearly a bug, but I got around it. I started a new website document (for some reason, it didn't work the first time I tried), and that worked.
Thanks for the idea, though. I'll be sure to check that, in the future.

  • Installing GoLive CS2 with Master Collection CS3

I have just taken possession of a beautiful new system with the full Adobe Master Collection already installed by my computer guru man. The new system is very fast etc but I kept with XP 'cos had heard too many horror stories about Vista.
After getting the computer home (I live 2 hours drive away from the guru) I remembered that I forget to ask him to install my old CS2 GoLive with menumachine. I need to have GoLive (and the wonderful Menumachine) to update my GoLive sites. For a while anyway.
He thinks I should be very careful about just installing GoLive with the new CS3 collection because it could cause problems like "some of the shared components may overwrite the new CS3 versions" (whatever that means) He said I should have installed the old version of GoLive before installing CS3 to make this less likely. He said I might be best to uninstall the Master Collection. Start again and install GoLive CS2 first and then the CS3 next. He suggested I ask you.
Has anyone been down this path?
Also I still have GoLive CS2 installed and active on my old PC, will I be allowed to legally install it on the new one too? Or will that count as piracy and cause problems? I also have it on another little computer I have that I use (very rarely) as a kind of laptop.
My new computer has a two hard disks a C-drive and a D-drive - I was wondering if it would help if I installed GoLive CS2 on the D disk - everything is currently on the C disk.

If it were up to me, I would only have GL on two systems per the license
    agreement.
Then, I would try installing GL CS2 and if everything works, great. If not,
then uninstall the Adobe stuff and reinstall it as your guru suggested.

  • Font corruption and Adobe GoLive CS2 V 8.0

After 10.6.7 upgrade via Combo (Safe mode; DW; RP etc) , Camino & Chrome crashed. (Seamonkey, iCab, Omniweb, Safari & Opera did not) This was due to a corrupted Font, fixed via FontBook.
Being somewhat non-Font orientated my simple websites displayed Apple Chancery on my new iPad but displayed 'cursive' on wife's 10.6.6 which my iMac (10.6.6) also used to display.(??)
On 10.6.7 all my sites displayed Apple Chancery on 10.6.7 ... fixed by changing Fonts.
Adobe GoLive CS2 8.0.1 pretended to upload 'changed' files but never did! I had to 'delete-drag-drop' or use Transmit to upload changed files?
I duplicated some of these files only to find CS2 never uploaded the changed files!!
Does 10.6.7 break Adobe GoLIve 8.0.1??
In 10.6.6 I had some embedded MP3 files and 10.6.6 played these no problem. 10.6.7 will not play them from the website but plays them locally?
I tried all sorts of methods including javascript but 10.6.7 would not play them even after booting Paralells and IE8/9?
As I use a free ISP (ByetHost) to check my sites I transferred one to my homesite with the same result?
I am of the opinion that 10.6.7 breaks GoLive CS2 (Please! Not Dreamweaver!!)
I have a 10.6.6 SuperDooper 10.6.6 to go back to but worry what 'Lion' will bring??
Anyone else with similar problems afte upgrade to 10.6.7??

Thanks, R C-R, I am aware of the Font dependency on platforms but wondered why it suddenly reverted to the 'correct' font after installing 10.6.7. My previous OS upgrades didn't do this so I assumed 10.6.7 showed the 'true state' whereas previous upgrades didn't.
I checked my F/W backup of 10.6.6 and found 2 Fonts that were inadvisable to use so this is where Camino/Chrome crashed due to these Fonts. I consider it an 'Installation' problem as it never happened before.
The GoLive problem was of my doing and is now sorted.
However, part of this GolIve problem was found to be related to embedding MP3 in web pages and I assumed it was the install of 10.6.7 that activated this. I now believe it was either iTunes 10 or Safari 5 (10.6.7 installs Safari 5??) or both.
I shall close this thread and continue on http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2454051&start=75&tstart=0

  • GoLive CS2 and Leopard 10.5.5

Is anybody running Leopard 10.5.5 on a Mac Pro and using GoLive CS2?
I have to upgrade to Leopard and would like some feedback if there is any issues.
    Thanks,

There might be problems installing it though if you already have CS3 installed. General rule for other Adobe apps is that if you have CS3 installed and want to install CS2 apps you first need to de-activate and de-install CS3, then install CS2, then re-install cs3. my CS2 was already on the machine when CS3 came around and later Leopard, so am unsure if that implies for GoLive CS2 as well. It might as the adobe apps use some common files which can complicate installations.

  • Migrating GoLive CS2 to Dreamweaver 8

Am looking for some resources with tips on migration of sites

    Found a Dreamweaver Technote:
    How

Are you sure you would get an .ste file at the end of this

would you just get a DW site?

    Does GL use .lbi files?

  • Upgrade from GoLive Cs2 to Dreamweaver

Can I upgrade from Golive CS2 to DW CS3 using DW SC3 upgrade
package or do I have to buy the full blown DW CS3 software?

I believe you need to buy the full version from what I am
seeing on the website. However, in this case I would recommend
contacting the Adobe sales team as their may be unadvertised
promotions for switching from GL to DW.

  • In doubt... will upgrading to OS-10.5 stop Golive CS2 from working?

Hi, it's been such a long time since we discussed this... I still use Golive CS2, as well as Photoshop CS2 sometimes to use the plug'ins that are not compatible with CS4. Will upgrading to the latest OS give me any trouble with those apps?

    >OS X Snow Leopard may be the end of the line for GL If the dont bundel it with rosetta
...And since the best program is the one you know and GL is the only one I know (a little), I might have to stick to the current OS for the next twenty years or so...   or say for at least two years after the new one is released, until forced out as usual.
