Golive: Troubling drop shadow on text.

When viewing a Golive web page in Safari, or even an old IE browser, some type (which I assigned a color to) looks fine, but in Firefox, a drop shadow of the same color is being created. I see nothing that could possibly cause this. Any thoughts?

GoLive is an application to create webpages with.
It's a product by Adobe, not Apple.

  • Adding a Drop Shadow to text in InDesign CS6

I have no character styles in my recent installation of Cloud InDesign CS6 and want to know how I import these effects.

Character Styles and Drop Shadow, (an object-level effect), are not related. There is nothing to import.
To apply a drop shadow to text, select (black arrow) the text frame and choose Drop Shadow from the fx menu at the bottom of the Effects panel, (Window > Effects). The Drop Shadow dialog opens where you set the parameters of the effect.

  • Paragraph style - Drop shadow on text

    Hi,
I cannot find out how to apply a drop shadow to text in a paragraph style.
It looks like drop shadow can only be applied to Object style.
And object must be selected with selection tool. My text box goes up to 30 pages!
I don't want all the text with shadow.
Any help or cue will be appreciated.
    thanks

Drop shadows can only be applied to all text within a Frame. You will need to separate the paragarphs you want a drop shadow from and Anchor those within the text.

  • Is it possible to put a drop shadow on text added to an image?

Is it possible to put a drop shadow on text added to an image using Photoshop Elements 10?

    Yes.
Open the Effects palette. In the drop-down. go to "Drop Shadows." You will find several listed. After you have applied, double click on the f on the text layer in the layers palette. This will bring up the Style Settings. Here you can fine-tune the shadow..
Note that in the drop-down referenced above, there are also Bevels which may enhance your presentation.

  • Why does drop shadow on text only work when you rotate?

I can't get the drop shadow to work on text while keeping it aligned horizontal. Seems to only show up it I rotate the text. Goes away when I put back horizontal. Frustrating. Just want to drop shadow text with out rotating. Can anyone advise on this? Thanks in advance.

This was discussed here for many times.
Drop shadow on text isn't implemented, because many browsers don't support it.
If text has to be converted to an image (system fonts, rotating etc), shadow can be applied, because this effect will be part of the image.

  • Drop shadows on text do not behave in the same way to inner shadows on objects

I have piece of text with a drop shadow on top of a box which has an inner shadow. In both cases, the shadows are CMYK black, with 100% opacity, applied using the Multiply method.
When designing, things appear correctly (note background is CMYK magenta, but will change once this issue is resolved):
When outputting in the Press format, with everything left as defaults, then two issues are seen, firstly is the Yucky Box Problem, the second is the drop shadow has lost it's colour, and looks as it does if I choose Normal for the shadow type. Note the PDF viewer is Apple Preview in Lion:
If I embed the CMYK colour profile I'm using (Coated FOGRA39), then the YBP goes away, but the colour of the shadow is still wrong:
Finally, if I force the transparency to be flattened, it appears correctly but with a thin white line (note profiles are not being embedded in this case):
    Case 1
    Case 2
    Case 3
    Case 4
What I would like to know is how to ensure the output is as it should be in the final case, but without the white line, i.e. without flattening. It's worth noting that if the text is located in the main, white, area of the page, then it works correctly in all cases (except the Yucky Box Problem situation which is easily resolved). Thanks in advance!

That seems to have resolved the problem. Interestingly, the 'Yucky Box Problem' doesnt seem to occur regardless of whether I'm importing the profile or not, I guess Adobe Reader is doing it's own stuff with the colour space which Preview isn't. Thanks again for your help!

  • Drop shadow on text in table

Is there any way to give text in a teable a drop shadow without giving the stroke of the table a drop shadow?

Yes. I get migraines as well. I know how you feel.

  • Drop shadow on text is printing in wrong location but looks fine on the actual pdf.

Hi, Im working on a postcard with text that has a dropshadow. Everything appears as it should on the pdf, but once printed the drop shadow is no longer aligned correctly and moves about 3 inches to the left when printed - ruinging the design. What could cause this issue? Thank you.

Are you printing the pdf from the Acrobat Pro, Reader, Illustrator? What happens if you print the .ai to your printer. What printer are you sending to?

  • Drop shadow on text stroke

    Hi all,
This might sound like a silly thing to do, but is it possible to add a drop shadow to the stroke of some text.
I have tried various ways but just end up with a drop shadow for the text itself, rather than a drop shadow on the stoke alone.
    Cheers,
    Rob

    Thanks Eugene,
    I'll try that one.
    Cheers,

  • Drop shadow on text box - CS4

I'm trying to set up a drop shadow on a text box, but the shadow shows through the text.  The effect I want is essentially a shadow on the right side of the box, and one at the bottom, not showing through the text.  I'm attaching a screen shot.
Obviously I've got something set wrong, but I've played with the "transparency" settings and nothing changed.
    Thanks for your help................

Select the frame, then go to the swatches panel...

  • Is it possible to "drop shadow" on text inside menu items?

    As in subject

    Hi n-dimension,
Currently, the only way in Muse to get a drop shadow on a text (including the text in the menu items) is using a System Font (which means we rasterize it into an image) and setting no fill color on the Text Frame.
Please let me know if that worked.
    Thanks,
    Razvan

  • Drop shadow effecting text frames

    hello indesigners.
i am applying a drop shadow to a text frame, and its getting applied to other text frames on the spread, and also i can see a slight colour change to my images as well.
    what is happening?
    thank you.

Drop shadows are transparency effects, so the preview redraws the spread showing the transparency flattening. There is a well-known "emboldening" effect for text on screen when transparency is used, and it can show onscreen in your PDF and low-res prints, too, but is usually not a problem with press output. Color shifting in the images probably means your transparency blend space is out of synch with the images.

  • Can't add drop shadow to text in PSE 6

Everyone says to do Layer > Layer Style > Style Settings.
But when I go to Layer Style and try to get to Style Settings, Style Settings is greyed out.   (The text in quesiton is already selected.)
In fact, I've tried everything possible to get Style Settings to become engaged and have not been able to do that.
Also, when I go into Effects and try to add cool effect (torn paper, glowing edges, etc.) to the text, it automatically changes the color of my text.  For example, my text is orange and when I tried "glowing edges" it changed the text to olive drab... and it certainly didn't glow.
Any guidance you can give with these issues... thanks!

Style Settings is for adjusting styles you've already added. The effects you listed are all filters, not effects or layer styles and they use the foreground/background colors, so yes, they will change the color of your text. To apply a drop shadow click the Layer styles button on the effects panel, choose drop shadows from the pulldown menu and double click the one you want. If you don't like it, undo it and try a different one. Then you should be able to adjust things like the angle and distance of the shadow by adjusting the style settings.

  • Drop Shadow for text does not work

I can't get drop shadow to work for text.  Every time I click on a text box and then click Effects, the drop shadow option does not appear as clickable and is basically blanked/darkened out.  It only works for boxes/objects other than text but every tutorial out there shows that I am doing this correctly.  What am I missing?  Can you no longer make text with a drop shadow?

I've tried that too... when I go to the text tool and select the text itself the "effects" button disappears altogether and I can't find any other options to initiate drop shadow except through the "effects".
Using the selection tool it's not available.
Using the text tool... it's just not there at all.
