Golive y firefox

Saludos
Juan

  • Image Maps not working in Firefox or IE

For some reason my Golive 9 submenu image maps (News, Locations, etc.) work in Safari, but not in Firefox or IE. Plus some elements seem scrambled in the two latter browser apps. Here's the web page: http://www.frankparsons.com/express/index.html
    Why is this happening?

    >Now I'm wondering if I should bag Layout Grids altogether to make the eventual transition to DW a little easier?
It couldn't hurt. Using your own CSS (or even old-school tables) will generally make any transition less painful than using program-specific features like the layout grid.
    >BTW, what is equivalent to components in DW?
I think the equivalents in DW are called Library items. Haven't used them though, as I usually stick with PHP includes to avoid anything proprietary.

  • Need help with Firefox display issue on one page of site

I have a page that W3C validates, displays properly in IE and Netscape, but does not display properly in Firefox. The issue is with a style class applied to the inner centered table. class= "vert_table" This class works on all of the other pages in the site, but not in this one.
    The page:
    http://www.redshift.com/~lorac/sdy-46-49.html
    The issue:
    < table class="vert_table" width="760" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center" bgcolor="#f1ebe8" >
The vertical rule does not display, and further down the page a dark left-right border appears starting with this text.
my mother, when I was wasting my life away not knowing who I was,
    and ends with:
Mojin: (hugging him) I don't expect you to love me. I just want you to live, that's all.
I have been looking through this code for two days, searching for any offending omission in code or redundancy that would break the page. I've searched for missing div tags but none are apparent to me. I'm hoping someone with fresh eyes can spot it right away.
It's odd that the page validates but Firefox cannot display it properly.
Sample page of code working properly:
    http://www.redshift.com/~lorac/sdy-41-45.html
    Any help is appreciated.

Hi Jim, thanks for the reply. Your suggestions sound interesting but I'd like to figure out why this particular page doesn't work when all of the others do. I'm sure it's just a little code thing that I'm overlooking.
I could revert back to a saved page, but I updated text and images on this page before the verticle border broke, so I don't want to lose those edits. And that is why I'd like to fix this one instead of redesigning the page.
BTW, I forgot to mention in my first post, GoLive CS, W2K.

  • Web-building my site. FIREFOX and NAVIGATOR is great but not SAFARI. Why?

    Hi,
I am building my web site http://www.philthesecurityguard.com/ everything works great on FIREFOX and NAVIGATOR but not SAFARI. Example: on my web site, I click on REAL LETTERS in SAFARI and HALF of orange squares appears outside of my letters. FIREFOX and NAVIGATOR have FULL orange squares on the outside of my letters. Another example: The vertical thin partitions on my web is red on FIREFOX and NAVIGATOR, but there is no red line on SAFARI. How come SAFARI is "short circuiting?" (I have Adobe GoLive web builder.) Configuring the server would allow the OP to use file names

  • Templates will not load in Firefox

I have updated several of our intranet pages using templates.
I really like that I can change the template and change all of the
pages at once. The files load and look great in IE6. However, when
I load the pages in Firefox 3.0.3, I only get the data and none of
the template. I am using Dreamweaver 8 and Windows XP SP2.
Since these are intranet pages, I cannot give you links, but
I am pasting the beginning of each file below.

I have tried taking out the xhtml stuff and putting a direct
link of template="/Templates/Basic.dwt". This worked great in
Firefox, but then the text was all huge in IE6. I guess I don't
understand why Firefox isn't seeing the template file. I have
loaded the Mozilla HTML Validator and the only errors I am getting
are using bordercolor. Any ideas or help would be greatly
appreciated because I have been banging my head against a wall all
    day.
    Thanks!

DW had DWT files first - the syntax was quite simple. The
    format was copied
by both GoLive and FrontPage using that simple format. So -
    DWT files
created by DW4 or earlier will work in both GL and FP. With
    DMX, the
Template syntax was drastically changed, allowing for things
    like nested
templates, editable attributes, repeat regions, optional
    regions, template
parameters/expressions, etc. Nobody but DW adopted that
    format.
Thus, DW can read and use any GL/FP template (at least as far
    as the
Template syntax goes). But no other app can use a DW>4
    version Template.

  • Text not appearing in Safari, but is in Firefox?

    Hello there,
I've recently completed a webpage using Adobe GoLive. The thing is, any of the text in the pages will not appear in Safari, but does in Firefox, IE etc. I've changed about the character encoding, but nothing's worked for me.
Another funny thing is, the if I make any of the text a hyperlink, then it does display in Safari (just the linked bit).
    I'm completely stumped!
You can see my problem here: http://www.ireland-kilkenny.com
I created part of the site using iWeb:
    http://www.ireland-kilkenny.com/pastnpresent/Past%20%26%20Present.html
I'm really stuck for a solution to this!
    Seamus.

Why is Safari so particular about coding standards, when other browsers will display the page with no problems at all?
Safari is one of the younger browsers out there and so the developers concentrated on the core established standards - as time goes on they slowly add more of the 'quirks' that other browsers allow website designers to get away with
WebKit is the core rendering engine of Safari and the developers have a website that shows what they've been working on. They also let you download a version of Safari that has been built with this WebKit to let you test out if various bugs have been fixed:
    http://webkit.opendarwin.org/

  • Mp3s not playing in Firefox, but will in Safari

This likely is not a GoLive issue, still I'm stumped, and an afternoon of searching online hasn't solved my problem. I'm hoping some wise people here can steer me in the right direction.
I have a couple of sites (designed with GoLive) that are no longer playing MP3 links in Firefox. You can save/download them, but if you click to hear them, only a few seconds play.
If you click on them in Safari tho, they play fine.
    files on - http://www.therubble.com/mp3.html - for instance.
These pages have acted fine for years, now they aren't.
    Any thoughts?

They are set up in a image map with basically < href="mp3/song1.mp3" > linking to the files.
I should test to see if the image map itself is mucking things, I guess. However the same aborted play happens if you type the link directly in the browser.
What's weird is that the pages (as is) have worked fine for years. Why they aren't working on the current server, I'm not sure. Other pages I've made with files hosted on a different server are working just fine.
The host company, I think, changed their server and some setting a long the way is not copacetic with Firefox (on Mac - haven't test PC + Firefox).
I was thinking it might be a Firefox 3 issue, but it happens with Firefox 2 as well (and again, previously it worked fine).
It was suggested that I should add a type tag to all links <  href="/mp3/song1.mp3" type="audio/x-mp3" / > and double check the MIME types settings. I'll see if that works, too.
Still, I think at this point I would rather move the sites to a different host than hand re-code a bunch of work all over again.

  • Rollovers & actions work in Firefox but not IE

    Hello,
The site www.lamps-on-line.com has rollovers and actions created a few years ago in GoLive and now these effects only work in Firefox, but not in Interenet Explorer (IE7), which displays page errors.  Is there a way to fix this? I acknowledge that the site needs replacing but while it's still running my client wants it fixed.
I set up a test page at www.lamps-on-line-com/test.html in which I took off all rollovers and actions, and this loads OK but I really don't want to have to resort to doing this on every page.
I wondered if it is somrthing to do with 'Doctype'?
    Hope someone can help.

I didn't see any errors when I looked at yourhome page in IE7 (on Vista). So which page elements were producing an error and what was the error you were seeing? Did you delete the cache in IE7 to check whether it was a caching problem? Tools > Internet Options > Browsing history (choose to delete)?

  • Golive: Troubling drop shadow on text.

When viewing a Golive web page in Safari, or even an old IE browser, some type (which I assigned a color to) looks fine, but in Firefox, a drop shadow of the same color is being created. I see nothing that could possibly cause this. Any thoughts?

GoLive is an application to create webpages with.
It's a product by Adobe, not Apple.

  • Layer disappears in Safari, off center in Firefox, but perfect in Internet Explorer!

I have a layer of a quicktime file on top of a jpeg image. In Safari 3.1, there is nothing but the jpeg. In Firefox 2.0.0.14, the quicktime box is off to the left and works, though off-center. In Internet Explorer 5.2 (Mac), the quicktime file works as it is supposed to and it is placed correctly.
    See: http://www.wissmedia.com/
I am using CS1 GoLIve. This is the first time I have worked with layers.
Any clues as to what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks.

The QuickTime file is working for me in Safari. Still having Safari problems there, or was that already fixed? Are the right QuickTime plug-ins already installed for Safari?
The difference placement by the different browsers is probably more due to the size of your browser window than anything else - change the width of your browser window and you'll see that the page content centers while the Layer stays put, as it's positioned from the top and left edges of the page. To get the layer to center with the rest of the content, see this tutorial:

  • Photos are more washed out in FireFox than Safari

Hi. I've created photo pages in iweb, and when i view the pages in Firefox, the images look much less saturated/more washed out, than when i view them in safari. Any idea why this might be?
the site is www.coutroulis.com then go to 'shots'
    thx

Not all browsers support Color Management like Safari does. With FireFox, it can work, but is turned off in the default installation. Sites that look very nice on a Mac monitor with Safari can look very washed out on a PC with IE or FireFox (Safari for Windows does better).
Here is a page that explains the concept pretty well (these issues were not a problem for me in the past as I used GoLive and now Dreamweaver, with graphics prepared by Photoshop):
    http://www.gballard.net/psd/golive_pageprofile/embeddedJPEGprofiles.html#
I've found that having both browsers open to the same page makes it easier to see the examples properly.
Note the colors in the chart about half way down the page. The chart is built with graphics that have color management information that tells the browser how to deal with it. Safari shows the named colors perfectly (the box with RED text is actually Red in color), Firefox does not (the box with Red text is actually Blue in color). This is an extreme way to show that some browsers are using Color Management info from the pictures on the page. Your photos have information that Safari is using, but not FireFox.
The page has instructions on how to turn on Color Management in FireFox but you can't turn it on for everyone who comes to your site.
The page is in depth, with opinions on how to avoid the problems at all by using the sRGB Color Space which is the default option when using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements and "Save For Web". "Save For Web" is also just about the easiest way to get great looking photo's at the smallest file size, for web page photo's.
So you get three things from the Photoshop programs - Graphics load faster because they are smaller than the less powerful iWeb optimization, they often look better than other programs that just let you save as a jpg with a variable % quality level, and the sRGB Color Space used in the photo's works well in all browsers and platforms.
Web Site Design has always been about compromise - quality, speed, and accuracy. If your site is only for you and some other Mac/Windows friends who are using Safari - No Problem, otherwise you might want to adapt as needed for better pages for a larger audience.

  • Table Definitions for Safari and Firefox

All of the sudden my method to make a table 100% of the
vertical height of a browser window in Safari and Firefox for the
Mac has ceased to work. It works fine on PCs. I used both
Dreamweaver and GoLive in my efforts. Anythougts on how to more
appropriately or alternatively set this definition correctly?

    Here's the deal.
A doctype on an HTML page tells the browser how to render the
    page. If
there is no doctype, or if there is an invalid one, the page
    is rendered in
quirks mode. If there is a valid doctype, the page is
    rendered in standards
    mode.
DMX inserted a broken doctype on the page (i.e., functionally
    equivalent to
no doctype). Earlier versions inserted NO doctype. Hence, all
    these pages
    are rendered in quirks mode.
In quirks mode, the browser makes an attempt to render
    invalid HTML. Not
all browsers attempt the same rendering - so you will see a
    variety of
differences, comparing one browser to the next on the same
    page.
In standards mode, the browsers all render the same (so they
    say - but in
practice, while not true, it's much more uniform).
Table height is invalid HTML. It always has been - it was
    never a part of
    HTML's specs.
Browsers in quirks mode will try to render table heights.
    Browsers in
    standards mode willl not.

My website works ok on my version of Safari on my computer but Ive tested it in Safari on 3 other Macs and on some of them the Helvetica sections are changing to a weird type of Chinese font.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how I can stop it?
Ive checked the text encoding menu on all versions Ive tested it on and they are all set to Default.
    Its fine in Firefox.
anyone help, is there anything I can do in Golive to ensure this doesn't happen?

  • Browser behaves strangely in GoLive

Would anyone have any idea why IE is behaving differently when I use it to preview a site in GoLive from how it behaves when I view the same site on the internet?
When I look at the uploaded site on the web all is as it should be (thankfully) but when I preview with the "Preview in browser" function in GoLive(CS2) it behaves differently. It blocks my MM menu from appearing and also stops my CSaction from working as it should to allow a new page to open is a new small window when you click a link. It just gives one of those annoying security messages saying that it has prevented scripts or activeX controls from running. You can click on the error message bar and allow it to appear but why does it do this and why only when using the browser to "preview in browser"? And how can I get it to behave normally?
It is the same browser - why is it behaving diferently in GoLive? The Firefox browser is behaving okay.

I am getting erratic behaviour. When working with that page (Regular Paddles)it is now showing me the menu at th top as you would expect - and yes I have found what must be the mark of the web tag in the source code. But it still shows an error message for the action attached to the text "Read about it here"
However there is another page - this one:
    http://www.theboatshed.net.nz/pagefiles/teambuilding.html
On this page I have inserted the mark of the web as with the other page, but am getting the same old error message at the top of the browser and no menu visible - just a single word in its place "Navigation". So the behaviour seems erratic from one page to another. I have not inserted mark of the web on other pages yet as I thought it was supposed to happen automatically without doing this.
I'm not looking at a cached version - the tag is visible when I look at the source, both in GoLive and on the web.
My security setting in IE is medium-high. I have the pop-up blocker on so pop-ups are blocked but that does not seem to affect anything. When I tried turning it off it didn't help anything so I turned it back on.
