Gome 3.2 - online accounts - expired credentials problem [SOLVED]

Thought I'd managed to iron out my niggles with the new gnome release, unfortunately I spoke too soon.
Although I have online accounts integration working fine for me in evolution, empathy and gnome-documents, on logging in this evening
I was informed that my my "online accounts need attention". The appropiate control panel window informs me that my credentials are expired and
gives me the option to "Log In" again.  Unfortunately the log in button does absolutely nothing when clicked.
This means that the only way to restore my accounts seems to be to delete them and re-add them, something I'm not keen to do every few days!
Has anyone else had this problem?  Just wondering if its an upstream problem or I'm missing something.

Just a quick update.  Managed to solve my own problem.  It appears that my stystem time had been changed when I booted into Windows 7 and I hadn't noticed (oops!)
Apparently google authentication will fail with a time in the future, however the process in online-accounts as simply failing silently.  Correcting my system time solved the problem.

  • Outlook 2013 with exchange online account disconnected, tryin to connect for hours or indefinitely

    I posted this in another forum (office 365) and was told to copy it here as it wasn't an office 365 issue so here is what I posted there:

    Let me see if I can clarify better. This issue has been ongoing as long as I have worked for this client (I started in January but have been told the issue has been going on since before November of last year). The client has multiple construction sites
    and its headquarters. There is a remote desktop server setup with a public IP address for the users "in the field" for accessing network resources at headquarters. At major construction sites (currently 3) they have high speed internet service installed
    since the projects typically are 1+ years to complete. So at current times we have the following:
    Main office:
    Remote Desktop Server with logins for all employees
    Main 2012R2 server
    50MB/s internet connection via CenturyLink ISP
    Site 1:
    3 main users of computers. 1 constant user, 2 minimal use users. All 3 have experience the issue 3+ times a week
    Comcast 50MB/S ISP
    Site 2:
    3 Main users of computers. 1 constant, 2 medium use users. All 3 experience the issue 3+ times a week
    Comcast 50MB/s ISP
    Site 3:
    4+ computer users. 1 constant, 2 medium use users and the rest check email couple times a day. They also experience the disconnect issue 3+ times a week
    15 MB/S DSL from CenturyLink ISP
    There have been instances where (as examples) user 1a called me to tell me it was happening. Users 1b and 1c were not experiencing the issue. I was able to use a remote tool called Teamviewer to connect to her computer. Once connected I tried to open OWA
    but it would not connect. I tried to ping the site and could not get a response. To verify I remoted into user 1b computer and his outlook was still connected and pinged fine. Both users being at the same site are on the same network. Had user 1a remote desktop
    into the RDserver at the main office. Remoted into the server at the office her outlook on that machine connected no issues (in my mind rules out account issue?).
    I don't believe it is network related due to the other computers working fine and being able to connect to her computer indicated to me that her NIC was fine. I don't think it was her account because it worked fine from the RD Server plus email service to
    iPads/iPhones continue to work without issue. Once the computer is rebooted everything works fine for a while (could be hours, could be days).
    Now to answer the questions for you:
    1. it happens to all computers not at the main office but happens at random times to them. It also does not affect every computer at a remote location. It could be 1 or it could be multiple computers at the same time.
    2. Affected users iPhones, iPads and outlook 2013 pro session on the RD Server at the main office continue to work no issues.
    3. They cannot get to OWA on their machines when in that state, however can log into OWA on another machine plus the answer to #2 above.
    4. It is all users at those locations, however I have experienced it myself at my house 1 time since January (I have a different exchange online plan/company than the one I am discussing in this post). The issue is random and it is uncertain if it will correct
    itself if left sitting long enough (longest time it has been left is about 20 minutes or so) however even 20 minutes is a long time to wait for the service to return so users just reboot.
    Please let me know If you have any solutions/ideas.

    I go along with you. Since the affected account could connect to other clients without issue , it indicates Office 365 account is no problem. And other computer were working fine and can connect to her computer, it shows the network environment does not cause
    the issue. In this situation, the issue should relate to the specific Outlook Client. However this forum mainly focuses on Office 365 online services, to get more accurate responses, it’s suggested that you raise the problem in the Outlook forum. If they got
    any result and you need further assistance from Office 365 side, please feel free to let us know.
    In addition, about “I have had the users try to use OWA when it gets disconnected but they cannot get to that URL either. IE comes up with page not found”, I’d like to collect some information:
    1. Does the issue only happen to IE? Have you tried logging in other browsers using the OWA address (like Chrome or Firefox)? Does it work?
    2. Does only this user have the issue? Does it happen to other users?
    3. Which version of Internet Explorer browser does the user use?
    4. Could you provide us with the whole screenshot of the error message? You can post screenshots in our forum by clicking Use rich formatting and selecting the Insert Image icon.
    Also, please try the following steps for troubleshooting:
    a. Clear the IE caches and cookies when you log into Office 365 again.
    b. Use the InPrivate Browsing of Internet Explorer to login.
    c. Reset Internet Explorer’s settings, and try again.
    d. Try to login in another network environment.
    If there is any update, please let us know. I ’ll keep on monitoring this thread.

    As of today we still randomly experience this disconnect issue. Just today I had my test user call me to say she was disconnected. She is in location 2 where I have a test laptop also setup with her logged in. When she called I had her check the test laptop
    and the outlook profile on that machine (same network) was still connected while her computer was not connected. I had her run the online analyzer tool on her machine (the one that would not connect) which ran for almost 2 hours. The tool finished right at
    the same time that her outlook finally connected back to the server.
    If anyone has any ideas/solutions please let me know.

    Oddly enough my computer is right at this moment in this same disconnected state. Outlook shows an exclamation point in a yellow triangle. Its state is disconnected. If I go to portal.office.com I get to the login page but get page can't be displayed after
    entering my credentials. I tried using google and found this for login

  • [solved] Google online account with two-step verification

    After upgrade, I can no longer log in to my gtalk account on empathy. The Online Account dialogue box gives the error "Expired credentials. Please log in again". But repeated log in comes back to the same message. Anyone experiencing similar problem?

    In this thread, comment 10 gives instructions for using an application specific password instear of the regular google password that seahorse is storing.  I did this, logged in, and everything started working, with no errors.  Hopefully this will help someone else looking for an answer.

    However I found a way to fix, thanks @Ionut showing a path
    In my GOA_ entry I edited 'password' field
    So I removed my generic google password and inserted google application
    password, I got in my 2-factor authentication page. So it's working fine now,
    but it should be fixed I think ti work out of box

    Yes. Check the show password, you'll see a long GOA_ string. At the end you'll
    see your google password. If you enable 2-factor auth and reproduces a bug, you
    should make an application password in google account and replace your google
    password in seahorse with it. Logoff and login again after solves the
    "expiration" problem

  • Empathy fails to connect to google talk using gnome online accounts

    After last upgrade to gnome 3.6 empathy fails to connect to google talk using GOA credentials.
    Of course I can configure a talk account directly in empathy but... I would prefer to use a single sign on (with gnome online accounts).
    Does any one has this same problem?... Any clues?

  • Win 8.1 forcing switch to online account

    Just installed 8.1.  I'm using local accounts.  I'm not a fan of my business files being uploaded to some SkyDrive location out of my control. 
    I went to the Windows Store just to look around.  I went to install the first app I saw, Movie Moments or something like that.  I suspect this behvior will be app-independent though.  I was prompted for my "current" password, which
    is my local account password.  I provided it, then it prompted me to log in with my Microsoft account (online account).  Did so, then went through this process of receivbing an email with a unique 1-time numerical code to enter into the app store
    to validate yourself and install the app.  All fine so far. 
    Then it gets to where it tells me it will "switch to a Microsoft account on this PC", which by the wording of the text on this screen sounds like it will permanently convert me away from using local accounts and instead to using the online Microsoft
    account. 
    I could click Switch or Cancel.  I clicked Cancel, thinking it would bypass this stupid screen and allow me to proceed, but no, it just closed the process off. 
    So what I've learned from this is that even to install an app that really has no need to be online (for tracking, usage analysis, all that stupid stuff they created online accounts for in the first place - see Big Data), and yet I appear to be forced. 
    Before I proceed I wanted to ask others if there is a way to avoid this.  Perhaps to proceed with the switch, then convert back? 
    Also I'm curious if anybody else has a problem with the strategy Microsoft is employing to essentially push people into using their online account system? 

    Thanks for the replies all.  Well almost all - colakid I really don't know what you're trying to say but I gather you think I'm some teenager whining.  In fact I am an IT professional running a company that services 100% Microsoft customers,
    and so my angst, while my own in this thread, is also something my customers will feel when they learn that we will have to completely re-vamp their IT management and data storage strategies and policies (for workgroup-based deployments) just to accomodate
    Microsoft's need to push everybody to using their online stuff. 
    Not only is it bad enough that putting 8.1 on there makes these sudden changes, but also there's the concern that future updates will ":accidently" change some of these settings back.  I've seen this typer of thing happen in the past, so it wouldn't
    shock me to suddenly find that SkyDrive is now again the default save location after we set it elsewhere.  Anyway, that's conjecture at this point. 
    So with all due respect, I may be among the first to complain but I am certain I won't be the last. 
    It also happens that I read IT security articles all the time, and often hear about breaches of these online data stores so my paranoia level is higher than the average citizen.  And not to say I know hat Microsoft's intent is, but anybody at the top
    tier of technologythese days is getting into big data, and there's no reason to think MS would not be among them. 
    Ok reall quick about some of the other replies:
    Definitely this experience is not like iOS.  Similar, but not the same.  The entire PC and everything you do on it is subject to the mercy of your online account.  And I haven't even looked into cached credentials and offline files in 8.1
    but I wonder how that has been addressed? 
    Anyway, can't spend a lot more time on this subject today but definitely am not a fan of 8.1 at this stage for my own use, and will have to really evaluate the pros and cons before recommending it to any of my customers.    
    Curious:  how does 8.1 Enterprise handle this subject? 
    Now on a positive note, one challenge for small business data storage is that without a server, a customer has no way to back up per-PC data so a SkyDriv eaccount per PC can be an idea.  But then it is completely unmanagable from an IT perspective so
    needless to say, IT people like me have to wonder. 

  • How do I get rid of a box that pops up saying Account expired?

    There is a pop up box that comes up on my desktop that has a red stop sign shape with a white exclamation point. It says in bold at top "Account expired" and below that "Renew subscription now to resume service". The only option is to click a button at the bottom that says "Renew Subscription", there is no button to close or minimize it. When I do click it, it goes away, but comes back again. Nothing apparently opens or happens after clicking it. If I ignore it, it multiplies and I get a whole cluster of them on my screen. I've tried restarting the computer, emptying the trash, etc. It pops up as soon as I restart it or wake it up from being asleep. My computer is a desktop running version 10.9.5 OS X.
    I've tried searching the internet for a similar problem and didn't find much. Any help or insight at this point would be so helpful.

    I think I've isolated it to the Cisco webex plugin. Have you done an online conference recently? In the finder go to ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ and thenfind the webex plugin. Remove it and restart safari. In chrome go to chrome://plugins and disable the plugin.

  • I get a repeated dialogue box saying that "Account expired, Renew prescription now to resume service," but nothing as to where this is coming from!

    Every few days I get a small dialogue box saying "Account expired...Renew subscription now to resume service" and there is a Renew Subscription button. There is NOTHING noting what the account is or even the 3 buttons at the top left (Delete, Minimize or Expand). They come up and collect every 3 or 4 days and I have to move them off to the side. The only way to make them disappear altogether is to restart the computer.

  • Exchange Online Outbound Connector - Credentials

    Hi folks,
    I am trying to set up an outbound connector and rule to route emails that I send using my Hotmail.com address to the SMTP server of Hotmail  (smtp-mail.outlook.com).
    I have the rule set up and working and have configured the connector to use the smart-host. According to the documentation I have seen the 'on premisis' exchange should allow me to specify a credential, however the exchange online setup does not prompt me
    for this.
    The reason is that I receive email from multiple upstream accounts using Office 365 connected accounts. But by default it sends email using my domain SMTP account tagging the email with 'On Behalf of'.  This creates a security issue as it exposes a
    mail address I don't want to give out.   I would like to relay email back through the account it came from so the correct 'from' address is used.
    If anyone knows how to either give the outbound connector the correct credentials or solve the relay problem it would be a help.

    Sadly, it seems as though you can't repurpose a SPO OAuth token. Pretty sure you'll need to use New-PartnerApplication

  • Remove free trial from my online account.

    I cannot remove Creative Cloud free trial from my online account. I don't use CS6. I use Lightroom and PSE standalone products. I had signed up for a class that gave me access to Creative Cloud. It has expired and I don't want it or need it but it is still listed on my account online. It is causing issues whenever I do an update or upgrade. How the heck do I get rid of it? Since I don't pay for a support subscription I can't get Adobe to talk to me.

    You might need to sign up at "https://cloud.acrobat.com/exportpdf" using your Adobe ID credentials to convert your PDF file to Word.
    Do you get the 'download' prompt?
    Also, you can find the converted files by clicking at the 'Files' tab. 
    Please try the same using a different browser and check.

  • Odd situation with Safari after enabling account expiration and locking

    Hi team,
    i found the following puzzling situation today.
    I enabled account expiration and locking in a workspace, thereafter all end users were requested to change their password as soon as they attempted to login to the application.
    Some of these users went through this process smoothly and after changing the password they could log in. Others apparently succeeded in changing the password but the password change process is triggered again and again.
    These users are receiving the following message after clicking on "apply changes" (p50 of app 4155).
    ERR-1777: Page 50 provided no page to branch to. Please report this error to your application administrator.
    When clicking on "restart application", they get the following additional screen:
    You have successfully logged out. You have been redirected here after using a logout link provided by an authentication scheme. To redirect to a page in your flow instead, do something like this:
    Create a page in your flow and give it an alias PUBLIC_PAGE.
    On the Flow Builder page attributes page, select the "Yes - This page is public" Public Page attribute.
    Change the logout URL in your authentication template to redirect to this new page after the logout procedure executes. For example, using the API, make your logout URL:
    wwv_flow_custom_auth_std.logout?p_this_flow=&FLOW_ID&p_next_flow_page_sess=&FLOW_ID:PUBLIC_PAGE:&SESSION
    Note that the suggested URL uses a somewhat outdated syntax lacking the period after the application items, so you might want to revise it for future releases.
    After various tests it turned out that the problem is in the browser (don't ask me what).
    Safari users do not succeed in changing their passwords through page 4155:50, while Firefox users do.
    I have a password change page inside my application though and everybody can change their password from there successfully.
    Also, after changing the password using Firefox, Safari users can log in without problems whatsoever.
    So the final question is: what's wrong with page 50 of application 4155 when run from Safari on Mac?
    It happened with Apex 3.1.2 and Safari Version 3.2.1 (5525.27.1)

    that was exactly what i was about to do yesterday night, but at the post office i realized i didn't know the address :D
    Then, fortunately for me, but regrettably for you (hehehe), i realized that Safari is not the culprit.
    For some reason people using Safari were always submitting the page with enter, while Firefox users were submitting with the button.
    I made a test and Safari is fine as long as you click on the button, the bug is in the submit through the enter key.

    In December 2011 I moved from Virgin to BT and even before starting the service I realise that BT had some non positive issue as they delayed by nearly one month the starting of the BT Infinity service in my zone. In fact I decided to close the service with BT as soon as possible. Then finally in Jan 2012 they started the BT infinity service and so I started my count down for the 18 months making sure not to add any other service to the account. In May 2012 they did the free speed upgrade for BT Infinity and as I was paying the maximum for that service I asked for my upgrade too and I don't remember that anybody told me that because of this upgrade I was extending the contract with BT. Today I called BT to cancel the call diversion and I asked them to confirm if it was June or July 2012 that  I can close the contract as Virgin and Talking offer similar services for less money and even 6 months half price (from BT I received nearly no discount... also because of the fact they botched the starting date of the BT Infinity service and I forced myself to survive the first weeks with a very slow ADSL connection when in that moment I was used to a 10 MB connection) and today I was told that I am obliged to stay with BT up to November 2013 just because of that free speed upgrade I asked and obtained in May 2012... After all I was even paying the maximum tariff for the BT service and therefore I was not getting anything extra but just what any new customer was getting by paying exactly the same amount of money (and even receiving some discount I never received). No need to say that Virgin and Talk Talk presently have 12 months contract versus the 18 moths of BT... I think this is another lesson from BT to consider in the future... After all since December 2012 I have not even renewed the call line saver as I was afraid to waste money by paying one year in advance if I leave after 6 months...

    I just did some tests on my Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controller, and the date of “Account expires - End of” in ADUC does differ from the accountExpires attribute in ADSI editor.
    In ADSI editor, the time is showed as Pacific Daylight Time, which is converted from local time of the domain.
