I've tried resetting by turning my phone off and back on, i also checked settings but don't see anything wrong, i need help!! please
Hi carolinemorris,
Welcome to the Support Communities! The article below will help you troubleshoot the issue you are having with sound on calls and FaceTime on your iPhone:
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
No sound through stereo headset
Inspect the headset jack for debris and clean if necessary.
Connect the headset and make sure the connector is pushed in all the way.
Check the volume setting. Adjust the volume by pressing the volume up and down button on the left side of the iPhone.
If you are trying to listen to music and cannot hear any audio, make sure that the music on iPhone is not paused. Try squeezing the headset microphone to resume playback. Additionally, from the Home screen you can choose iPod > Now Playing, then tap Play.
Make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed on the computer that you are syncing the iPhone with (songs purchased from the iTunes Store using earlier versions of iTunes won't play).
Try another Apple headset (some third-party headsets require an adapter to be used with original iPhone).
Try a different song or video.
Check to see if the iPhone alert sounds or other iPhone sound effects exhibit the same audio issues.
Disconnect the headset from the iPhone and see if sound comes from the built-in speaker.
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker

I hope this information helps ....

My Iphone 4s has gone Mute on calls
My Iphone 4s has gone Mute on calls. All calls incoming and outgoing it is as if I have hit the mute button. I can hear the other person but they can not hear me unless I turn it onto speaker phone. I have checked all settings and Bluetooth is off. I have tried restarting the phone, I have held the power button and home button at the same time to reset, nothing seems to be working. Any suggestions?
when you play music, did you try to increase the volume by using the volume buttons? the incoming alerts use the ringer volume settings. play a song and increase the volume using the volume button on the side of your phone.

Hi recently when using Siri, loudspeaker on calls and face time my mic has not been working. It is working fine on normal calls and on apps that I use to record with please can someone help resolve this issue
I'm having the same problem, and nobody on here seems to have a solution. If I do a factory restore, it works for a few weeks, but then the same problem creeps up again.

HT4528 New iPhone 5c is "pocket" and "table top" dialing calls and facetime.
This is my third iPhone. I had a six month old iPhone 5 and we switched family plans.
My phone is seriously out of control. It pocket called my adult son, a medical student, twice when he was in a meeting with his dean. It FaceTimed him during rounds. It Facetimed my daughter when she was sound asleep. My two other iPhones would very occasionally do this, but it wasn't a problem.
My daughter accidently called me in the middle of the night. I put the phone on the bedstand and did not touch it, and it called my husband's fax number. No one was touching it. Could it be reacting to voice command?
I've been alone the other times, dragging in groceries and it's dialing people in my pocket. I set up the passcode, but that doesn't seem to help, as long as it's active I can't depend on this phone.
It is my first time with iOS 7.1- Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
- Reset the device. (Same article as above.)
- Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)
- Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
- Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
- Test the issue after each step. If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem. -
Can I mute incoming calls and still use as a voice recorder
I need to take notes during meetings and would like to use an iphone as a voice recorder as a back up as well as taking written minutes. Can I put the iphone into a silent mode so that the meeting is not disturbed if I get a call or SMS but still be able to use the voice recorder? I would like to be able to press record at the start of the meeting and just leave it running for the duration.
Also, if I fully charge the battery before, will the iphone keep recording for 1.5 hours?
And.. what is the best voice recording app for meetings and lectures/talks?Hey
It sounds like you're looking for airplane mode, which disables the wireless features of your iPhone while still allowing you to use other applications. You can read more about it here:
iOS: Understanding airplane mode
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1355
Also, the iPhone comes with an application called Voice Memos that lets you use iPhone as a portable recording device. You can read more about it on Page 105 of the iPhone user guide here:
iPhone User Guide

IMessage and Facetime not working in 8.3 (iPad 3 Wifi)
After updating to iOS 8.3 iMessage and Facetime is no longer working. iMessage receives messages now and then but is extremely unresponsive, often crashes, and usually only the last message shows. Some of the older ones show at times, but most seems gone. The Messages and Facetime tab in Settings also are extremely unresponsive..takes about half a minute to open. Usually, but not always, I'm told to log on with my Apple ID, which it won't do.
I tried calling my iPad with Facetime. Nothing. Half an hour later it suddenly rang once...
Apps closed, iPad restarted several times to no avail.Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities
What I would suggest doing is signing out of both services and then rebooting your iPad.
iMessage
Settings --> Messages --> Sign Out
FaceTime
Settings --> FaceTime --> Sign Out
Once your iPad has finished rebooting than sign back into iMessage and FaceTime.
As a side question, are you using Apple's 2 Step Verification for your Apple ID? This is a setting you manually have to turn on so chances are, if you didn't turn it on than you don't have 2 Step Verification. -
My iPod Classic is seen by Windows but not by iTunes. I have reset it, gone to disk mode and it won't show up in iTunes. There appears to be music on it in a file called MUSICSAVE. How can I get this to work with iTunes again?
1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

Regarding Facetime on my Ipad. I get started on a call and after 10 or 15 minutes I cannot hear whom I am talking to. They can still hear me and I still have picture on the screen but my sound stops working.
Why can't we use Acrobat Pro for mobile devices? Save a whole lot of headaches!!! Now I have to return this subscription.

3 iphones in household. All use same apple ID.But all contacts get mixed between phones and facetime calls come in from other contacts. How can we change this so our phone information isn't visible to each other?
Use separate Apple IDs for each family member and use Family Sharing features of those things (if any) that you do want to share. https://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/family-sharing/

When I call someone using FaceTime from my mac, they can see me but not hear me. Is there something I need to do to make this happen? I also have an iPad 2 and FaceTime works great on it if I call somebody. Why no sound from my mac FaceTime using a mac pro and isight camera, mike combo.
If I use google it works. If I use Ichat, it works. If I use skype it works. This sounds like something similar to https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3388112?start=105&tstart=0.
Try turning down the speak volume (System Preferences->Sound->Output->Output Volume) or the microphone gain (System Preferences->Sound->Input->Input Volume). Do this on both sides of the call. -
I need help setting up my daughters iPod. She has been using her iPod touch for 6 months using my ID. This caused a problem now that she is a bit more savvy and has learnt to message and FaceTime. I get her calls and she gets mine. I have set her up her own ID with iCloud but when I go to settings for FaceTime and messaging I can't erase my ID. So the problem is not really solved. She will have to access iTunes through me as she doesn't know my password and any games etc have to pass the mummy test. Can anyone help?
Thanks. I have my iPad on my lap and her iPod in my hand. We can FaceTime each other but it won't let either of us message each other. I know mine is activated as I use it frequently. I have activated hers as well. Maybe I will put it in the too hard basket for tonight, sleep on it and try again tomorrow.

i was mid facetime call and my phone turned off and wouldnt turn on until i plugged it in. then the date was wrong,it said no service, and wont let me turn wifi on. also it wont stay on for more than a few minutes at a time. Help?
Sounds like a hardware failure.
Make an appointment at the genius bar and take it in for them to look at. It will probably need to be replaced. -
I changed my phone number and now I cannot send iMessage or make calls on FaceTime (only receive) on my Macbooth Pro. Currently my iMessages settings say I can be reached at my apple id email. My FaceTime currently says I can be reached at my apple id email.
Go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. Also, since you have IOS-7, read this.

I was upgrading my sun Solaris 7 to 8 and the FSCK had an error readding a block 20509 on the vfstab /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0. So we have a problem in the file system. I use the command `fsck -y /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0. The result is unmounting the File System.
