Good app to help edit my students' video to attend the Student Film Festivals

I am a teacher of a Video Production Class, and my students and I are trying to use Canon XF105 cameras to do some shootings. The output files are MXF , and this is the first time my students working with this caliber camera. We need to do some edits on our raw videos to make some shot movies in order to submit them to student film festivals. I have tried many ways but this MXF files just can’t load in iMovie successfully. So I use this Pavtube MXF Converter for Mac to help me do this hard step, then I can load them into iMovie flawlessly.

You may want to try Handbrake, which is free, and see if it will convert the MXF file(s) into a format that will work with iMovie.  I read a post on another site and the poster said he had converted a short MXF file using Handbrake.  Handbrake is free but make sure you download it from the official site.  You can try Brorsoft MXF Converter for Mac or Pavtube MXF Converter for Mac (both are $29 each).  I haven't used either so I can't attest as to whether or not they will work.

  • Need a good App to help with School

I am looking for a good App that I can use to take notes on for college. I will be taking Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. I want to be able to type in text because I can type must faster than I can write in manuscript, but I also want to be able to use my stylus to draw molecular structures and formulas and reactions and things like that. Does anyone know of a good app for this? Paid of Free, it does not matter! I love using Evernote, however, I haven't found that I can draw in notes.
    Any help is appreciated!!
    Thank you!

I have Notability, and Pages.  I don't know for sure if you can use the stylus or not in that app. However, Notability is a good one I know you can type in it and can draw/write with it.  As far as writing your notes in it that didn't work as well for me.  This app you can also record the lecture in the same place you take the notes.  I would recomend getting it and playing with it a little before you need it.  I had a little problem with writing on it, because I set my hand on the screen too, it has a cover but that mostly stops you from making lines all over your notes with your hand. So, if you don't need to set your hand down to write then you maybe ok.  It is a good app I like it.  Good luck!

  • I have ipad2, I need a good app to help me open any attachments such as PDF , word or others, please help

How can I get a good app to open any email with different attachments such as PDF , word and others, something to open
Easily just like my PC . Is it possible?

Those document types should open in the Mail app. If you want to transfer them from Mail into another app then there is Documents To Go (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/documents-to-go-office-suite/id317117961?mt=8#) which, from its description :
    • EDIT, CREATE & VIEW Word & Excel files (including Office 2007/2008/2010)
    • View  PowerPoint ,PDF, iWork & other files
    • iPad/iPhone 4/iOS 4: Send & receive attachments using the device's built-in Mail app
    • Includes desktop app (Win & Mac) with 2-way file sync (WIFI required to sync)
I havn't got the app myself, but I've seen it recommended by others

  • Managing and editing image and video files on the go

I am looking for the best solution to store, manage and edit pictures and videos taken with external devices (DSLR camera and GoPro primarily) using my iPad as an interface and not requiring a computer.  I was initially thinking that some sort of portable hard drive was the ticket, however, the Apple Lightning to SD reader might be an option as well.  In any case, I don't want to use my iPad for storage, but only to access files from the storage medium.  Here are the requirements I am looking for:
Ability to view and manage (including delete) the files from the storage device using my iPad
No requirement to load or sync the files onto the iPad to be able to view and delete the files
Easily be able to select and transfer specific files to my iPad to work with and publish
Ability to export edited files from my iPad back to the storage medium once I am done working with it (I could work around this one if necessary)
Whatever I end up with should be small enough to easily pack and transport when I am travelling
What would the best device be for me?
I have looked at the new Hyperdrive iUSBport HD as one possibliity, but I am not very familiar with their devices.  I guess my other option is to buy several SD cards and use the Apple Lightning to SD reader, but I'm not certain it will accomplish everything I am after.  Especially in the later case I would really need to be able to view and delete files (video in particular) that I do not want.  Any advice on the above devices or other devices that I should look at?
    Thanks,
    Matt

  • IMovie has frozen up on me. I've tried rebooting and reinstalling the apps- no help. I can play some of the files- but I can't get into the libraries.Even when I can get something to play the whole system crashes after a few minutes. What can I do?

I desperately need your help. I was working on iMovie last night when the thing froze up on me. I've tried rebooting. I've tried reinstalling the apps. No change. I can play some of the files- although I can't tell which ones will play until they magically appear. I can't get into the project library or the event library. The bar that lets me scroll through the clips is gone. Even when I can get something to play the whole system crashes after a couple of minutes and generates a "problem report" that says "iMovie Quit Unexpectedly". This all started when I was adding cutaways- and one clip just would not load. After I tried several times everything froze up. Have you ever heard of something like this? Maybe I pushed a button or somehow changed a setting? Maybe some of the video is corrupt? What do you recommend?
Thanks for any advice you can offer!

I have tried all the above and nothing seems to work. Any other suggestions?

    Looking for a reading App.
    iPad (iOS 7.1.2) - Kindle.
I am looking for a good app that can help a college student with reading books that cannot be found on audio book.  I have tried voice over and it works but it's very monotone and it really strings things together.
    - I'm willing to pay for a good app but I can't seem to sort though the many that are out there. Any suggestions.

Ah. I'm surprised, but there we go.
    Have a look here ...

(courtesy of googling 'OSX free multitrack recording software')
Didn't have time to do more than skim, but 'Ardour' looked promising. Protools is the only one I've used, the full product is one of the industry standards, but the free 'lite' version listed here seems to be limited to 2 in/out as well.
Referring to your original post, I'd think trying to write or 'script' something would be a nightmare ... synchronisation of streams within something like Applescript would be a major issue, quite apart from anything else.

i forgot my question security apps store help
    <Edited By Host>

If you only have one security question or if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) on your account then you should be able to reset it/them yourself : http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT6170
If you have more than one question and don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions) then you will have to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5699
If your country isn't on that page then try this form and explain and see what they reply with : https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
When they've been reset, and if you don't already have a rescue email address, you can then add one for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201356

  • Recommend a stylus for the iPad air, and good apps?

Hi anyone use a stylus  for note taking etc on their ipad, any good ones and also any good apps for this for business thanks.

  • Any good apps?

Does anyone know of any good apps I can download?
    Thnx

Hard to answer given the hundreds of thousands of apps available in the app store.
For Task or To Do lists, there are a number of free ones you should look at. There are also Notes apps that include task/todo lists or can be used as such.
EverNote is free and can sync documents with your googledocs account. My favorite Notes app (and the one I use daily for things) is Awesome Note, but Notebooks and Fliq Notes are also good.
You'll really need to look through the app store or appshopper and see what ones strike you - there's so many!

  • 3D video experience on the G5

    Hello,
I'm trying to edit à 3D film with fcp. (using stereo glasses and 2 projectors)
The idea would be to send two different video signals on the exact same frame (or TC) to my projectors. (if the frames are not synchronized, then the whole effect is crappy.
Does anyone know how to send 2 signals using the 2 vdi plugs in the back?
Should I use Fcp or Qt or some other soft ?
    Thx
    Ben.

I have contemplated the challenges of editing 3D several times int he past. I am unaware of any current solutions for editing two seperate video streams simultaneously as full resolution 3d would require. However if you used interlaced video where one field represented right and the other left it would be relatively simplpe to accomplish. Today's machines are easialy powerful enought to edit stereo (3D) video, but as the equipment required to shoot the product is highly customized and prohibitively expensive, I fear it will be a while before tools to edit the video is readily available or more common.

  • Help editing video info

hi guys am trying to edit my films info i have done this before on this laptop on this itunes and have managed to do them all but i have just added some more films to my libary today and itunes wont let me edit the info i have got permission to read and edit the info so really don't understand what's going wrong any help would be gratefully appreciated

    funny, I do have a very different opinion… ;-)
    * iMovie does NOT handle NTSC/PAL footage in progressive mode… you are able to import such stuff, but adding a disolve or a title - swoosh, THAT part is interlaced… (to my knowledge, … maybe Karl/Matti can give of some insight...)
    => investment into FCPro...
    * I do like the new überMac… but whatfor, concerning movie making? … probably a hasty MTV producer needs tons of effects rendered faster then light… but as a student, I would invest more in other things (good point about mics) .
should I mention, my ol' friend, my G3/500 (that's Mega, not GigaHz) iBook does editing with iMovie....?
    * HDcameras are interesting, in case you want to transfer video => 35mm film, because of higher res
    I would …
    * look for an old G4/5/dual/quad, incl. a superdrive , add 2GB RAM, screw in 2x 250GB HDs, get another firewire case for another, min. 250GB drive
    * iMovie is nice for me, the average Daddy-does-movies guy, but as a film student, I would immediately jump into the cold pond and grab FCE/P…
    * I worked once a project with the VX1000 (… yepp, a while ago, last century…) - an outstanding camera to its time, one of the first 3ccd'er, used in many broadcast projects, excellent pic quality; get a pointer mic, get a (few) wireless lavalier (+ext. hardware mixer)
    * invest in software: FCE/P, PhotoshopElements (video is RGB only), think about AfterEffects, think about any 3/4D app, Maya has a learner edition…
iMovie is fun, you learn the basic editing rules of Sergej Eisenstein with it...
and: I like the attitude, …a MiniDV digital camera that produces film-like quality video…

  • Hi... I am looking for an inexpensive app for my macbook pro that I can put pictures and videos together into a slideshow with captions and music WITHOUT a watermark and that also will burn the slideshow to a DVD in its own app. Help?

Hi... I am looking for an inexpensive app for my macbook pro that I can put pictures and videos together into a slideshow with captions and music WITHOUT a watermark and that also will burn the slideshow to a DVD in its own app. Help?

The issue with the A1400 is that like most economy compact cameras, they will not have very fast focus times in indoor lighting situations. Many people have gone to entry level DSLR's (Canon T3i) or micro 4/3 cameras. They are fairly expensive, but a late model refurbished T3i can sometimes be found with a kit lens for about $300.00. With Auto and scene modes, as well as full manual modes, these are very versatile cameras that focus very quickly, even in lower lighting situations. Canon is not really into the micro 4/3 cameras, instead they are focusing on the new G7x and G1x cameras, which are way out of your price range. The A720 is still available used at some places such as KEH camera, but you'll need to check often as their stock changes constantly. Obviously the DSLR's don't use AA batteries, but the T3i is good for about 600 photos (or more) per charge.
My refurbished DSLR was practically brand new condition when I got it. I could not find any sign of wear at all, so I feel they are a real bargain. These are rugged cameras that are made to last. The A1400 is a $99.00 camera, so it's not intended for heavy usage, plus the image quality of a DSLR (even entry level) is far better than the A1400. That would be my recommendation.
    Steve M.

  • For an app made with Single Edition, is the video stored in the cloud?

Just looking into using Single Edition and wondering where interactive assests for the app are stored.  Are they all stored in the cloud, or do I have to provide a storage location?
    Thanks for any help!

Everything is store in the app unless you elect to use web based
    overlays such as streaming video.
