Good book on RMI with JSSE

Hi
I was wondering if u can tell of any good book that teaches how to write secure NETWORK applications ( using RMI, SSL, encryprion, and digital signatures).
regards
Qasim

Well, I don't know of any one book that will cover it all, but you might take a look at the O'Reilly book on RMI.

PS: Does not have to be the latest oracle 11 but anything at 9/10. I need to really pick up on using SQLPlus, and understand the files associated with oracle: table spaces, redo logs, archives, etc.

  • Is a good book ?

    hi everyone!
i am a Java beginner. I am just finishing a beginner book 'Java Programming with Microsoft Visual J++ 6.0' written by Joyce Farrel and Don Gosselin. i am wondering in what direction to continue.
i've just got a book name from somebody.
please tell me your opinion about the following book:
    'Java Examples in a Nutshell'
    written by David Flanagan
    thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    T:)ci

Sams Java 1.2 in 21 days is a good book to start with as it explains the basics of the language very clearly, but if you want to really want to get your teeth stuck into the Language I'd suggest O'Reillys Learning Java by Patrick Niemeyer & Jonathan Knudsen, its not a good first book but it makes an excellent companion to java 21 days, IMO.
I'm new to java programming myself and must admit the O'Reilly book just confused the hell out of me at first, but now it's the main book I'm reading.

  • Good book for extension building

I want to build my own extensions on Dreamweaver CS 4 but so far I looked I've only see books for Dreamweaver 8 or MX2004. Does anyone know a good book to begin with?
I think that by writing my own extensions I can save a lot of time in the future..

I'm not aware of any recent book that specifically covers extensions, but the basics of extension building haven't changed much in a number of versions of Dreamweaver, so a MX04 or 8 labeled book should be fine for getting started.  Also, I beleive that some of the general Dreamweaver books provide a little coverage of customizing Dreamweaver. You'd also do well to read all of the extending documentation:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Extending/index.html
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_API_Ref/index.html
However, for many folks, using Snippets is a "good enough" solution to save time.

  • Suggest any good books

I'm very new to xml, what I'm asking is if any one can suggest good books to do with java xml and servlets, on a unix platform.
I did find two books from Wrox (Professional Java XML , Java XML Programmer's Reference ), what I hope to complete with this project is to create, rewrite and read the xml files.
    thanks

O'reilly have loads of books on java and xml and they're usually pretty good:

  • Is there a really good book on Aperture?

Could anyone recommend a good book on Aperture with lots of practical tips? Thanks

I purchased Aperture only about two weeks ago, my main purpose being to compose and have a book printed by Apple. As well as to make sharing albums with family and friends easier.
I was impressed with the ease with which I could enhance about 60 photographs with very good results. I do indispensable, limited enhancements to originals and found this a lot easier to perform (and thus much less time consuming) with Aperture than with Lightroom (which I have been underusing for quite a while) or, for that matter, with Photoshop CS6 (which I have been underusing to considerably larger extent). I find the Lightroom user interface crammed (despite the fact that mine is a 27” screen) - Aperture is just considerably cleaner and more intuitive to use.
Having said this, I am finding that giving the book the shape I would like* is not showing that obvious. Scoppettuolo’s book is on its way, trust it should help.
The outlook for Aperture does not look bright, I know, with Apple having decided - as I understand it - to discontinue development on it. This looks like a great pity to me!
    * which is no more than that of a rather simple album, with a simple cover and title, no photo on the back cover and all photos placed in similar way on light grey pages (to show a similar frame on each page, meant to be quite simply that running through from the edge of the photo to that of the page)

  • Suggest good book titles on Forms 6i and Reports 6i with latest edition...

    Hi
I did not find any latest edition of a book by any author regarding forms 6i. please suggest a best book which explain me to develop forms and reports in illustrative manner. i searched entire net but cant find a good book on forms6i and reports 6i. So anybody suggest me best titles to my requirement.
    Thank u in advance
    prasanth a.s.

A GREAT book is called "Oracle9i Developer: Developing Web Applications with Forms Builder" by John Adolph Palinski. (www.course.com) While the title says 9i, it tells you along the whole way where 6i differs and how to do it in 6i. In the preface it says "This book also supports developers using Oracle6i Forms Builder... Throughout the book a distinctive 6i icon identifies explanations and exercises related to 6i."
The only thing I don't like is there's no answers to the questions. I suppose because it's used in a lot of classrooms. But regardless, I've recently purchased 4 Forms books, and this is by far the best for learning (since I'm a newbie). But at the end of each chapter you take steps to build a real application from scratch. Hope that helps!

  • Good books to have to help along with Certification and Basis Admin

    Hi all,
I am planning on taking my SAP Certified Technology Associate (C_TADM51_70) I have taken all courses except one which I plan to do by the end of the year.  I was wondering if there are any good books out there that will help with the certification and Basis Administration?
Also any general advice would be much appreciated on this.
    Thanks for your help.

    hi,
The SAP Was 700 certification is just same as was640 only the netweaver Java related question are most important. as per the syllabus you can complete it with tadm10, tadm12 and tadm51.

when I use voice over to read an epub in my Ibooks app, which is in Dutch, sometimes he start reading a book with an English Female voice and some books he reads with the Dutch male voice (which is good). All my epubs are Dutch books so the English voice sound terrible trying to pronounce Dutch. Can i fix this problem? Thanks, Tom

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/baddns.php
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/hackedrouter.php
If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

  • Suggestion for a Good Book

    Hi,
Could someone suggest me a good book covering core java security (not J2EE)?. I'm looking for a book that covers all security related APIs that are part of Java 2 SDK 1.3.x + JSSE + JCE + JAAS or Java 2 SDK 1.4.x.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I've a book called "Professional Java Security",
by Jess Garms and Daneil Somerfield, published by Wrox press.
I've used it to dip my toes into the Java Cryptography extension, and
it was very good. I got a TripleDES encryption utility working reasonably easy.
Also covers JCA, JCE, JAAS, JSSE, SSL and E-Commerce.
    regards,

  • GW 6.5 - A suggestion for a good book

    Hello people !
I'm CNE in Brazil and I would like to know a good book to implement GroupWise 6.5.1 im my server that it will work with Border Manager 6.5 SP3 (Small Business Suite Starter Pack).
    Thanks in advance.

These fourms are focused on developer issues, you will find that Novell has a
different set of forums for general support, which have a lot more people answering
    questions.
Say that take a look at Novell's own book

  • What's a good book for getting started?

I've been doing web design in HTML and ColdFusion for almost 3 years. It's clear that ColdFusion is on it's way out and I need to learn J2EE/Java/JSP etc. I have a few questions:
Java is a term I've heard associated with C++ and other types of programming as well as Web design. Are the Java/C++ Java and the Web Java basically the same type of language? Is the Web Java and JavaScript the same thing? I'm very confused!
What is a good book for getting these types of questions answered and getting started in J2EE/Java/JSP? There are quite a few variations of script languages out there and I want to make sure I learn the right stuff, ie the stuff that employers are going to be needing.
    Thanks!

Here is a free online version of a good book:
    http://pdf.coreservlets.com/Core-Servlets-and-JSP.pdf
Print it off or read from the screen. Otherwise, there are several good Java books out there. What I would do is go to the bookstore and thumb through a few books. Depending on what type of book you want (example based or theory) find the books that you think would satisfy your learning style. Write down the names and authors, go home and buy them used online at Amazon for tremendous discounts. This way you can buy several versus just one.
