Good Codec for a text only video to export to iDVD

I am making a video entirely of text because it's a transcript of a 911 call.
I have saved it to a few different codecs- NTSC/ DV, 8 bit compression, animation, graphics and when I burn it to a DVd using iDVD, it looks like garbage.
It's a combination of Boris 3D, regular text and a livetype background.
Any ideas?

18 pixel high text is too small. Even if I have just a couple of lines of static text, then I never go smaller than 22 pix.
Your text only video should probably be more like 26-28 pixel text. Tiny text can get irritating very quickly for the viewer, especially if it is moving and it won't hold up to compression at all.

  • Hi all ,anyone knows some usefual Codecs for H.264 live video/audio

    I'm headache about the JMF codecs ,they are too few ,and seems inefficiency, anyone knows pure java codecs for H.264 or MPEG4 ?And I think it's better a open source one ,do my thanks , guys!

    Here are some basics....
    FMLE creates RTMP protocol streams that PCs and Macs watch with Flash players.   iOS devices don't understand RTMP (Flash), only HLS delivery of 10 second chuncks of downloaded video playback.  Both systems understand H.264 video, but iOS wants to see AAC audio not MP3.
    You didn't state how you are live streaming, meaning what bandwidth delivery service you are using.  Live streaming only via RTMP won't get you to successful iPad and iPhone HTTP Live Stream.  On-demand delivery to iOS devices normally requires .mp4 video files to be hosted, which Macs and PCs also understand via RTMP delivery.   But unless your delivery service can convert .f4v or .flv files to .mp4 on the fly there is no easy way to to get to iOS via the direct file output of FMLE as of today.   Sometimes we upload live encoded project files to our www.Wistia.com account for PC, Mac and iOS delivery.  This is a YouTube / Vimeo paid type hosting service for on-demand only.
    Some commercial CDNs (Content Delivery Networks) today allow an inbound live RTMP into their system using FMLE.  Then they re-mux that RTMP stream into HLS delivery for iOS.  Some work well using the native MP3 audio codec (Internap), but most require FMLE to have the AAC audio codec installed from Main Concept for $200.  Or people use Wirecast from Telestream which is $500 per license to be able to run two instances on that one license.
    In my 15 years of being a big commercial webcaster here in Silcion Valley, I have yet to find the perfect simple and easy and affordable RTMP to HLS live and on-demand delivery system.  We currently do it different ways with multiple providers depending on the job.  More offerings are coming out now and we try them all as they come down the pike.

  • Is Keynote a good choice for this kind of video presentation?

    Can Keynote easily be set up and used for the presenter to work from a slide table mode with both names (as well as numbers) and good-size customizable thumbnails of the visual material, primarily videos, which can be clicked on so as to play for the audience, on a projector (second monitor), each clip? This would allow nonlinear access to the videos, and spur-of-the-moment changes of order. I would use Final Cut Pro for the presentations, but this will not be available in many venues. I understand the current iMovie does not have a timeline, so it will be less than ideal. Is Keynote a good choice for this? If not, what would be?

    I have I work 09 (newest version 5.0.2) and the presenter window only shows the next slide.
    I have never had a need for a multi-slide view, because my presentations are all developed for education and are in a pre-determined order.
    I can clearly see that this "pick a slide" feature could be quite useful when engaged in a conversational presentation rather than a seminar or classroom format that I use.
    To change the order you would have to flip from multi-slide or disengage the program and choose a slide from the builder/creator menu. (Basically stop the presentation and that could be awkward)
    If I am missing something, someone pipe in, I opened a presentation and was only able to get "next slide" up on the presenter menu.

  • Encore a good choice for authoring Blu-ray videos with complex menus?

    I currently use FCP X for editing videos of live band performances. I have been dissapointed in Toast Titanium for aurthoring the resulting Blu-ray videos because of the limited menu options.......I will often have 30 separate videos on a Blu-ray disk (one per song).
    I am considering buying Premiere Pro CS6 to obtain Encore because I have been told it provides more complex menu options.
    (1) Are you happy with Encore for aurthoring Blu-ray videos?
    (2) Would I also need to buy After Effects?
    I ask the 2nd question because I have watched an excellent "Authoring with Adobe Encore" tutorial here:
    http://www.precomposed.com/tutorials/products/pro_motion_menu_kits/Encore_Authoring/
    These folks offer some nice looking Menu Kits
    http://www.precomposed.com/products/pro_motion_menu_kits/
    but they use After Effects as well as Encore.
    Thanks for the help.

  • A script for replacing texts only in selected layer?

    Hi all,
    I have an illustrator document which has many text layers. I have found the script below that replace a text with another one in the document;
    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    var myTextFrames = doc.textFrames;
    for (i = 0; i < myTextFrames.length; i++) {
    var myTF_ByI = myTextFrames[i];
    var str = myTF_ByI.contents
    var res = str.replace("word1", "word2");
    myTF_ByI.contents = res
    However, there is one problem that the script also replaces the text in other layers even though they are hidden or locked. Could you help me adjust this script to be effective only for the selected or unhidden layer?
    Cheers,
    Akin

    Hi elmagnifico,
    this is strange.
    Before running the script snippet:
    and after running the snippet:
    Can you show us your layers palette? Do you really layers mean – and not sublayers or not simple text items in one layer???

  • Can't use text tool for new text, only editing

    I'm a new user, having converted from Pagemaker 6.5.  After editing  a converted file for several days,  I opened today and could not get a cursor, in my text box.  It makes a box only and leaves it there.  I can edit existing text, and can cut and paste to the empty text box. This only happens in this file, not in oher documents.

    Thanks again for your help. Yes , it was a PDF that was emailed to me that caused the problem. Once I deleted it everything printed. Then we scanned the pdf and it was fine. Now, my next challenge is getting the copy to print in black & white without the index showing and some other notations in a color. I tried color separations but in pagemaker, I could select non-printing items. I know there should be a simpler way. My document is supposed to be black & white when printed, but I put the index items and a year reference on each page in color. Thanks again in advance.

  • Would this be a good IMac for serious audio and video production?

    I am looking for a imac that is good for serious music recording in protools or cubase and serious HD video editing and effects with adobe premiere pro and after effects. I also need it to run good with the rest of the adobe products like photoshop, deamweaver, fireworks, flash, etc. I am a student. And this is what i have came up with. I have external HDs so 500gigs is not a problem with me.
    2.5GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
    8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
    500GB Serial ATA Drive
    AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512MB GDDR5
    Apple Magic Mouse
    Apple Wireless Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
    AppleCare Protection Plan for iMac - Auto-enroll
    Do you think this would be good for what i do?

    That would be a nice machine, espcially for the price (I am guessing you looking at the 21.5" iMac)

  • Good resource for begining to advanced video information?

    Hey there! I've been a visual artist for a long time working mostly in photography. I'm getting more and more into video now but the more I learn the more questions I have. There are terms being thrown around on this forum like encoder, codec and muxer. It frustrates me because I have no idea what these things are and how they are related to other concepts in video production.
    Can anyone recommend a resource (book or website) that has explains the technical concepts of video from a beginning to advanced level? Id like to know what a codec is and how different codecs affect the video I'm working on. Bonus points if it also goes into detail on aspect ratio, pixel aspect ratio, digital and analog sound, framerates, and any other technicalities of video production.

    See these
    Adobe primers.
    You will also find links to many
    free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.

  • Where can i get a good clipboard for basic text

    The imac clipboard is a big disapointment (compared to my previous "Windows" clipboard). All I am copying is plain text, but I always found it handy to load up the clipboard, then move to a new document & pick & choose from the open clipboard. Nothing doing with my new Imac. Am I missing something? Any suggestions?

  • How can I select videos (only videos) and export them from iPhoto?

    I know how to export one movie at a time from iPhoto, but I want to export all (or a bunch) of videos at a time.  They are mixed in with photos, and on many many different dates.  Is there a way to find only the movie files and export them as original files?  I my macbook is full and if I export iPhoto stuff as a batch the videos end up being reduced to one frame only (the sidecar file).  Please advise.  Thanks!!

  • Good book for OCA

    Can anyone suggest good book for Oracle Application Server OCA

    I can tell you from personal experience that it is extraordinarily difficult to write a technical book with zero defects. Spell-checkers and grammar checkers produce huge numbers of false positives when looking for standard (i.e. non technical) errors. Technical errors are easy to introduce -- forget to add a 'Not' in a sentence, or something similar -- and hard to detect afterward. When I read through my study guides looking for errors, I tend to see what I meant to write.
    That said, such defects are normally a tiny fraction of the information contained within certification manuals. A couple of reviews on the Oracle Press 1Z0-052 book written by John Watson mention a couple of errors and then imply the book is filled with more. I've read the book and it is very informative. It contains hundreds of pieces of information and contains about ten errors -- all mentioned in the errata on the McGraw Hill site. The books is good preparation for the text and for learning the basics of being an Oracle DBA.
    As Aman indicated, using more than one source is a good way to help to detect inaccuracies. I believe in always using multiple sources and the documentation is generally a good option for that.

  • Is apple pro res 422 best codec for transfering HD footage in Mpeg stream?

    i have m2t files that are not recognized in FCP...is this a good codec for transfer?
    thanks,
    steven

    I use an inexpensive program called ClipWrap (http://www.clipwrap.com/) that avoids transcoding by simply rewrapping the .m2t files in a .mov wrapper. It's fast and works well.
