I know its kind of a vague qustion, but is there any game for the MacBook that runs really well, is fairly new and adicting? I know I'm being too broad here, but if anyone could point me in a good direction, that would help me out a bit. Thanks!

I have been playing "Hot Potato" with mine!

WoW would be a very good game if you didn't mind the monthly subscription.

  • Games for macbook late 2007

I still use my macbook from late 2007.
Processor  2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  2.5 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Graphics  Intel GMA X3100 144 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
I know the graphics on these machines suck. I just want some good multiplayer games for when i'm not home. I already play warcraft III on it and I love it. I don't care how old the game is. Are there any old school multiplayer games I could try and run?

Wow that looks like a cool site. I'll give it a try. The only thing is i'm not familiar enough with older graphics cards to decide if any of those games are worth buying. I'd have no idea how they'd run on my macbook considering it struggles to run dwarf fortress and warcraft III sometimes.

  • Good Stand For Macbook Air

    Hey,
I'm looking for a good stand for the MBA. One not to large.
Anyone currently using any of the following (or suggest others)
    Logitech Alto Connect
    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/notebook_products/stands/devices/3074&cl=roeu, en
Concern, the back end it might stick out too much behind the MBA.
    Plus, built in USB Hub.
    Raindesigninc.com MStand
    http://www.raindesigninc.com/mstand.html
Like the simplistic design, goes well with MAC setup, curious how it looks with cables.
Looking forward to your opinions helping me make a purchase decision.
    Cheers!

I don't like either of these because neither of the stands can really be adjusted. My favourite stand of all time is this (which is better than any stand I have seen sold in the U.S.)
    http://www.powersupportusa.com/products/ergo-mbpro.php?category=mb
This stand is made by a Japanese company. However, it may not work with the MacBook Air because of the location of the power plug. I could be wrong though. I own the stand but I don't own a MacBook Air so I can't say if it does or doesn't fit.

  • Good Hardrive For Macbook

does anyone know of a hardrive for the macbook maybe 100GB or 120GB? and sometihng not to expensive? and maybe a good brand for 1GB memory upgrades? thanks for the help in advance!

Any 2.5" SATA hard drive in that size range isn't going to be CHEAP...but make sure that the drive is 5400RPM to be safe, as that's what's listed for the 60 and 80 gig drives. Beyond that...can't really say, presumably all should go well if the new drive "fits the bill" in terms of specs and whatnot, but keep your original around just in case.
If all else fails I have had people say that a local apple retail store actually installed/upgraded the drive in store...so that may be another option if you want to know you're getting something that'll work.
In terms of memory, there are some manufacturer's out there that actually brand their memory as "apple memory". OCZ is one of them, and I have had a lot of people say they've had luck with Crucial SO-DIMM's. Again, as long as they're 667MHz PC2-5300 SO-DIMM modules you're more then free to give 'em a shot...but if you start to have what seem to be memory issues there's not much apple'll do to back you up.

  • Good games for Mac Mini2,1 with OS X 10.6.8?

    Hi everyone!
I have recently purchased a Mac Mini2,1 off eBay (1.83ghz, about to upgrade to 4GB RAM, OS X 10.6.8 (will soon be getting 10.7)) and I love action, adventure and puzzle games so I was wondering if there is any good games (free or paid) for my Mac Mini? They don't have to be on the App Store - I can use CNET Download etc.
    Thanks guys
    -Felix

I have no suggestions for game but not that if you update to Lion (10.7) some app may no longer work. See:
Upgrading to 10.7 and above, don't forget Rosetta!

Well I am rather impressed by the OSX re-release of Solarian II, originally released in the late 1980s I believe and they have kept the appearance perfectly.

  • Good stand for Macbook pro 15"

I am looking for a good stand for playing live. Tired of using whatever I can muster up at each show.

what do you mean by a stand? a keyboard stand kind of thing that goes on the floor? or a laptop stand that you can sit on a table?
I use an icurve stand on my desk for my MBP, which is perfectly fine for putting the screen at eye level. I use a wireless keyboard and wireless mighty mouse, so for all intents and purposes, my MBP pretends to be a desktop machine. but, this kind of thing might be dicey for live use cos the MBP just sits on it, in a live concert environment it could maybe fall off, depending on how hardcore the mosh pit gets and how many stage divers you encounter.
what about straps so you can hang it in front of you from your shoulders like an accordion?...
ok maybe not. but I did see another brand of laptop stand thingy other than the icurve in a store once, that was made of metal and seemed quite ok. you could probably get something like this and then get a keyboard stand and put it on top of that. or, you could use a keyboard stand and get a plank of wood or some kind of table top to put on it, so you can put your MBP and mixer and whatever else on it.

  • First Person Shooter Games for Macbook

Hi, I've been looking for a good FPS games. there are few that meet the components that the Macbook have. i have the GMA X3100 graphics card. i wanted to get Medal of Honor or Unreal Tournament 2004 but both require a GeForce graphics card. Is there anyway those games can work on a Macbook? are there any other FSP games that will work with the graphics card i already have?

  • Good projector for macbook pro?

Hi there, looking for a good projector that will work with my macbook pro, connectivty, or wireless would be great. I'm going to project my desktop onto canvas, i have vector layers to do some trace painting. so really just need hi-def still shots. But if i can get a good one that i can use in the future for video that would be nice as well, or something compatible with apple tv. just a good, small projector. thanks!

It works fine with my Macbook Pro.
Someone may want to know the video playback. It can play video smoothly and clearly.
It is wonderful that it really plugs the USB cable only for projection (no VGA cable, no mini display port cable, no charger), that is convenient for me to do my presentation.

  • Good Deal for Macbook 2007?

A friend of mine is selling me his 2007 white macbook. I'm not too familiar with macbooks, so I wanted to get an idea if its worth $500. Here are the specs:
    13 inch white macbook
    intel core 2 duo
    2.13 ghz
    320 gb hard drive
    1.5 gb ram
running os x 10.6 snow leopard
    price : $500
Is this a good deal? Thank you guys so much for the help

Legally, in order to run the Mac OS on any Apple computer, the owner of the computer must also have the corresponding discs for that machine. All Apple computers come with 2 installation DVDs (except for the recent MacBook Airs, which have the OS on a USB stick) which are machine-specific and cannot be used with another Mac. The 2007 MacBook would have had Tiger or Leopard installed originally and then would have been upgraded to Snow Leopard.
If you have further questions or need more clarification, let me know!

  • Games for macbook computer

I am new to the discussions, but I have a question. I recently bought a new white macbook and want to play games. I understand that it comes with a GMA X3100 video card which is not the best for gaming, but what games will work well on the computer. I like Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Halo....mostly first person shooter/action. Do any of those work, and if not, what will? Suggestions? I appreciate the insight because I am also new to the Mac world since this is my first one.

I actually posted a thread there about gaming on my Macbook which I converted to in January of this year. I mainly stick to my console for gaming but I do like the odd strategy game which I prefer using a mouse for rather than a controller! I was curious as to how well my MB would run games and whilst the first game I got (Age of Empires III) is not going to be as heavy as some of the FPS's out there, I was still impressed at how well it runs on high graphics settings and hooked up to my external monitor running at 1680x1050. Unfortunately I havent got the games you mention for my MB so cant say how they will run, although I wonder if there are demo's available of those games so you could try before you buy?
