Good ipod video cases?

I just recently got an ipod w/video. It seems like there arent any cases for these 5G video ipods in stores. I've been looking around online and was wondering what some good full protection (screen and click wheel) cases are out right now. The iSkin eVo3 looks very good but I'm concerned that it looks pretty thick on the pictures. Any suggestions for good cases?

Although it's a skin more than a case, I use the Zcover (www.zcover.com).
http://www.zcover.com/zCoverProduct_iPod_G5Duet.htm
It seems to work very well and offers full protection. I found it for $22.99 at MacMall.
I'm not sure how well the belt clip would really hold, I took mine off.
For hard case protection, I found the Contour Showcase 4G case I had works well on my 5G 60G. I did have to take my dremel tool to the headphone opening, just a tiny bit, for it to fit my large audio cable, but that's all. And the belt clip is rock solid on those. Glad I didn't sell it with the 4G I had.
Hope this helps.

  • IPOD VIDEO CASES/ WORKOUT

Does anyone know of a company SHIPPING IPod Video cases and or armbands for working out? Until I order one my new IPod will have the plastic covering it from Apple. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have a DLO black one that I used for my 60 gig iphoto, the 5g video actually fits better, but the screen is slightly cut off on the sides. But I typically don't watch video's when I'm working out, just listening to music so it's not bad.
It is neoprene I think and it has full access to the click wheel, it worked really well with my iphoto and works well when I work out for my 5g, I reccommend it. It says on the cover for 20gb/40gb and I bought it from Best Buy a while back, but you might be able to get it from the DLO website.
    hope that helps.

  • Ipod video cases

Which is the best case for a 5g 30gig Ipod video?
    Are the zCovers any good?
Are the sizes different with the 60 gig Ipod video and the 30gig Ipod video?
30 gig Ipod video   Windows 2000

I just got my zcover today. It’s pretty good. It
collects a lot of dust though. I got the 30 gig black
tough skin. It’s pretty awesome. But I decided not to
put the plastic shield in; instead I left the ipod's
original screen protector, the sticker thing. But one
problem I’ve noticed is that most headphone jacks
that are bent won’t fit into the earphone jack.
    Thanks that anwsers my question.

  • IPod Video Case.  Is apple kidding me?

When I saw that Apple was including a case for the iPod video, I automatically assumed it would be similar to their older vinyl (with belt clip) cases.
But, it is this absolute piece of trash. It's this faux leather material that is sewn shut on the sides. There is no belt clip. Is apple joking?
I feel that apple misled me and everyone else who thought the same thing that I did.
They don't even have cases yet for this. Anyone know when they will? This iPod is pretty much worthless to me if i can't even take it to the gym with me since I don't have a belt clip. Anyone agree?

Must agree with Bryan and Sam,
Apple never said 'hey look at this 100% proetection, uber great case'. They simply said case.
Im sure that you would have been on to Apple Discussions complaining that your iPod is scratched up, and blaming Apple becuase they didnt include a case (just like the 83 million posts from nano users).
Kudos to Apple for giving a fairly good case for keeping the new iPods nice until the third parties come along.

  • IPOD Video Case

I just got an IPOD Video and have heard that they scratch very very easily. I am interested in purchasing a case to further protect the IPOD and was wondering if there are any places that sell black genuine leather flip cases with the magnetic closure. I also want a screen protector along with wheel protector so that I can still use it through the protective covering. I prefer a case without a belt clip or one that comes off leaving a flat back but belt clip is negotiable. Does anyone know if this case exists and where? I've seen similar cases but often they do not have a magnetic close to them, which I like to make the case less bulky for fitting into a pocket.

I agree, get a case early to protect the screen as soon as possible from scratches. I had a DLO case, similar to the one suggested in the post, for my other iPod. The problem was the case did a great job at protecting it from the big stuff - bumped in laptop bag, jersey when cycling, etc. It did a poorer job for the finer grit that could get into the case, which would then rub between the case and the screen.
I ended up using a quick (and relatively inexpensive) option I found at an Apple store. You can order it online:
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/72403/wo/OK79sAB Jt7oi27Bsf9O1uVbbskc/10.0.19.1.0.8.25.7.11.1.3
This allow my screen to stay viewable out of the case when I'm watching video's, going to work, in my RoadTrip, etc. But also protected when in a more rugged case, like the DLO which I did buy for my new iPod too.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I open iPod Video case?

I'm trying to salvage a 4 month old iPod video that I bought for my 17 yr. old son. He was listening to it sitting next to the pool when he went to get up and the iPod fell in the water. He immeadiately jumped in after it, but as we all know the damage had already been done. I'm hoping, if I can open the case and disassemble it somewhat to let it dry-out throughly, I might be able to salvage it (I doubt it, but I have to try!). If anyone knows how to open the case, please let me know as I don't want to cause more damage than necessary.
    Thanks
    the1mg

this same type of incident happened with my ipod video (xcept it was a toilet.) After i grabbed my ipod form the water the screen started wiggin out n it completely turned off, I decided to let it dry out COMPLETELY for about 3 days upright not on its back or face, the ipod turned on and is able to be charged and all the songs/videos are still on it but it says its locked ( the little padlock appears on the top corner) when it isn't on hold.
Who know's what will happen to yours but jus wait and see!

  • Will ipod video cases work with ipod classic?

I'm hesitant to buy one since the classic is a bit thinner.. I don't want it to have a bad fit. Anyone tried one out?

The skin I bought for my iPod video fits on my dad's 80GB iPod classic, but there's really teensy weensy gap between the base rubber and the iPod's metal backing.

  • What's a good iPod travel case/pouch?

I just bought a 20GB iPod and I need a travel case/pouch to carry it around in. Does anyone have suggestions on a good one?

Wait, so you had the Mareware, lost it, bought an iSkin, then found the Mareware, and now have both? I get confused.
    But to answer the question:
If you want to carry accessories, then a travel bag is needed.
As the Apple Store links time out, i cannot link directly, but click here:
    http://www.apple.com/store
In the search box, type 'ipod travel'. You will see a nice Incase bag, and a Monster one a little further down. Rather expensive for what they are though.

  • Anyone think this iPhone case will make a good iPod Touch case?

    http://www.contourcase.com/isee/iseeiphone/
I know the back end of the Touch is going to hang a bit, but do you think this will do a decent job of covering my iPod Touch/will fit on correctly?
    Thanks for any answer.

That case (posted above) will probably leave a massive gap in the casing, as the iPod touch is not as 'bulky' as the iPhone. You may damage your unit more by carrying it in that. If you want a case, i'd go for something like this:
    http://www.iqase.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2
Still for the iPhone, but more likely to hold the touch in place with it's elasticated sides

  • Best type of case for iPod Video 30GB

    Merry Christmas everyone!
I just got a new iPod Video (30GB), and I'm looking into accessories for it. I want to buy a case that's good to protect the ipod from scratches and such, as well as if I accidentally drop it. I know there are a lot of good minds out there.. what would anybody recommend that would do the job, but at a considerable price (around 20-25 bucks)?
    Thanks in advance!

best I've found so far is an iskin. It's over your price limit but provides top of the line protection for screen as well as thumpage protection (I drop mine a lot)

  • What is the case that comes with the iPod Video?

My Friend just got a Nano and the case that came with is is just like a little sleeve that the iPod slides into....it also has no access to any controls (hold button, Dock connector, Click whell, etc.) and cannont see the screen.. you have to take the ipod out to use it....is it that same thing for the iPod video?
Dell   Windows XP Pro   Future owner of iPod video 30GB or 60GB (5G)

The case that came with my 5th generation black iPod video sounds similar to the one you're describing. It is totally enclosed and the only items that I have access to are the headphone jack (top) and the hold button (also on the top). If I put the iPod into the case upside down I can have access to the usb connector. This isn't meant to be a case for use (other than turning it on and going) but I've been able to push through the case to skip songs, rewind, etc.
So, in short, it's nothing fancy but it has done a good job of protecting my iPod against scratches.

  • Ipod video 60 GB case

Alright, my friend just got his ipod video 60GB and it came with a black case instead of the grey/white, does anyone have this to sell to me or know where to buy this? thanks so much!!

My black 60G iPod came with a black microfiber case, and I'm not especially attached to it. I generally knit my own iPod sleeves, so I wasn't planning to keep the black microfiber thingy forever anyway.
I have been using it, so it's not hermetically sealed and untouched by human hands or anything, but it's in good shape. Since it would only cost me a 39 cent stamp to mail it to you, I'd feel pretty lame charging you anything for it. email me your address - [email protected]

  • IPod Video Cambio Case

    Hi,
Does anyone used the iPod Video Cambio Case before? is it nice as it looked so so cool but a very high cost thus i need to seek advice
    http://www.orbino.com/store/index.php?$sid&cPath=77_90

I just wanted to say I bought the eVo 3 thing originally and I absolutely hated it. It turns your small and sleek iPod into a giant, sticky monstrosity. The case is stupidly thick, is pretty much instantly dirty (and impossible to clean), and it's difficult to get the iPod in and out of it. In fact, my iPod now has three large scratches on the screen thanks to that horrid case. Oh, and if you care about ever seeing the screen, maybe watching a TV show or movie on there, forget it. Good luck getting that case on without trapping some dust in there with it. Returned it for a refund.
Anyway, I ended up buying a case from Pacific Design (http://pacificdesign.com/pac_ipod5gflipcases.html). It doesn't look too bad, and the iPod slips right out if you want to use it with a dock or something. It gives you a reasonable amount of protection without being too large. The screen is protected, but the scroll wheel is not, which is fine with me. One thing worth noting, though, is that the holes covering the screen, scroll wheel and headphone jack are slightly off center, but it's not a huge deal.
So you might find something better out there (no one can say there's a lack of iPod accessories in the world), but I can say the Pacific Design cases are decent.
I just hope you didn't already go out and get the eVo... Man I hate that thing...

  • Made HDD, Battery and case upgrades to my ipod video 5th Gen and now I am told "Connect to your computer.  Use iTunes to restore."

I have a 5th Gen iPod Video that I have had many years now.  It has worked faithfully until about 2 weeks ago and the HDD totally died on me.
So I decided to upgrade from a 30 to 60 gb HDD, replaced the battery for the appropriate HDD and bought a new back shell for the unit.  I made incremental installations as parts arrived.  First the HDD itself and the next day the battery.  Both went in with no problem and I have been running them in a jerry rigged case (basically the 30gb back case has been taped together to make sure it was going to work OK.  I have been taking it to work with absolutely no issues, great response and great battery life.  Synching is fabulous.
Here is the issue, I hope this makes sense...
Today I received my 60 GB silver back cover and moved all of my parts over.  It seems to fit fine.  Headphone jack is working fine.  However, now the hold button is unresponsive (which is not a big loss to me but still just so you know).  I can play music and I can sync.  However, if I restart the unit, or I try synching a second time, I get screen saying "Connect to your computer.  Use iTunes to restore."  It does not matter if I snap it shut or leave the case loose, this happens.
I have this error until I open my case up again and do nothing else.  At that time, the error goes away, and my ipod is fine again.  Then, the screen comes back after restarting to a normal boot.  But, if I sync or restart without doing anything else, we go through the motions again until I open the case back up.
I have disconnected the battery as well as the HDD, but still have the problem.  I have also disconnected the cable coming from the hold button/earphone jack to the M/B,
Has anyone else ever experienced this issue or have any suggestions.

Shouldn't you contact the vendor or person who sold the back cover?  At the very least, it has a Hold switch that doesn't work.
This web site has repair guides
    http://www.ifixit.com/Device/iPod_Original
and they call it "Headphone Jack & Hold Switch"
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod+5th+Generation+%28Video%29+Headphone+Jack+%26+H old+Switch+Replacement/604
Under Relevant Parts, they seem to list separate parts for the thick and thin back cover.
On a side note, another way to fix your iPod is to use a compact flash card instead of a hard drive.  This web page has details
    http://www.instructables.com/id/Convert-your-5th-Gen-iPod-Video-to-use-Flash-Mem or/
Then, you can use your existing thin profile back cover that works.  I replaced the hard drive in my 4th gen iPod with a CF card.  Currently, it is only 8GB, but with lower prices these days, I may soon upgrade it with a 64GB CF card.  But it works great with the 8GB card.  The iPod is noticeably lighter.  There is no hard drive spin-up delay.  The battery lasts longer per charge.  And it is no doubt more shock-resistant.

  • What is the best case for 30GB iPod Video?

I recently purchased a 30GB iPod Video and I am wondering which hard shell case is best? I only use my iPod for casual use (carrying around) NOT for the gym, sports, water or things like that. I just want to ensure the best protection for the color screen.
