GOOD NEWS regarding Sony Oxford Plugs!

Just got an email back from Sony regarding my question to them on when will their AU version of their Oxford plugs be available. Below is their response to me.

Very close. We are in the middle of a beta phase for AU versions of our EQ, Limiter and Dynamics. Should be ready for release in a couple of weeks. Other plugins will follow.

I need some advanced help regarding AE and PPRO workflow

Hi all.
I have a problem and require a solution. I am creating a video that has cellphone/IM chat graphics, animated in After Effects. The problem is the layering.
In PPRO, the layers are as follows on the timeline.
Top layer: Chat Graphics
Middle Layer: Adjustment layer with colour grade effects
Bottom Layer: Footage
Now the issue I am having is that I need the chat graphics to cast a Gaussian Blur underneath them (the graphics are at 80% opacity) - and I have successfully done this using the AE Adjustment Layer switch, however since the graphics are in AE, and the footage is in Premiere, they blur does not appear. In other words, the graphics in AE are set to blur the layer below itself IN AE, but the footage layer below is IN PPRO.
So... one might think that the obvious solution is to layer it all in AE, using the Replace with AE Composition option in PPRO. However, this means that the adjustment layer for the grade will affect the chat graphics which need to be consistent.
Help...

Just to report back - The Track Matte Key effect worked like a charm.
Just had to create two extra layers in PPro.
One duplicate layer of blurred footage. One duplicate layer of graphics to become the matte, on top of the footage layer.
The effect of Gaussian Blur and Track Matte Key was applied on the footage layer.

It wasn't a QT update. If you install the P2CMS software, it adds a component that allows you to read the MXF files. It was a happy discovery that I found when someone else posted how they were able to see the MXF files in QT and import them directly (without the Log and Capture) but were miffed that they had to sync audio later. I told them that they imported incorrectly, but was amazed that suddenly the Mac saw the MXF files.
Still better to import the proper way..this way audio and video are tied as one file.

After evaluating lots of information from users and many tests, the
situation with the new generation of Motorola cellular phones (RAZR,
SLVR, PEBL, others) regarding iSync connection looks to us as follows:
There exist at least three generations of firmware in these phones:
1. Firmware generation (beginning in RAZR V3c) works at least somehow
with iSync. Address book can be synchronized, sometimes problems with
calendar data occur.
2. Firmware generation (e.g. RAZR V3i, V3x, SLVR, PEBL)
With this phones you have no functioning Bluetooth communication to a
Macintosh at all. You can "pair" the Mac and the phone (i.e. exchange
the confirmation codes) but after that registering of services between
them fails. After setting up the Motorola phone with the Bluetooth
Assistant you will get the message "no services available". Because of
that you can neither use iSync to exchange data with these phones via
Bluetooth nor any other Bluetooth service (e.g. Send File, or serial
port communication). This general Bluetooth communication between a
Windows PC and the Motorola phones is working. These phones also don't
react on approaches of iSync to communicate via USB.
3. Firmware generation (e.g. RAZR V3x, V3i, SLVR, PEBL, V557)
In this generation the general Bluetooth communication is working again,
but the data format for strings has been changed by Motorola. In the old
days a name like "Adam" was transfered as an ASCII string. Now they are
hexadecimal encoded, in this example the phone now sends the Hex-Codes
for it: "4164616d". The Interpretation of this data is hard coded inside
the iSync application and by our knowledge can't be modified by a
plugin. Appearently iSync is not able to switch to this other encoding
format automatically.
Because of this current technical situation we don't see any possibility
to implement a plugin solution for these phone models that would satisfy
the Motorola customers.

Issuing the 6xxx series of boxes to a new customer is a poor practise. Infact, no one should be receiving the 6xxx boxes at all. To issue one for new service knowing there is likely to be an unsatisfactory experience, and then tell the customer they need to pay an additional $40 for a new box seems sleazy. Time to retire the 6xxx boxes for good.

Good News Bad News and Loop question

The good news is AP3 seems to be working great since I've cleared ALL cashes and started, re-started in safe mode.
My one remaining problem is with the loop. It seems the more changes I make to my image the longer it takes the loop to kick-in. If no changes the loop magnifies in an instant but after adjusting wb,exposure, enhance, sharpen and highlights & shadows the loop may take up to 10 seconds or longer to kick-in to focus.
Anyone have a cure for this?

New to Mac and I am looking for a good app to process labels for envelopes. Used to use the Printmaster program on the PC side. Wondering if "Pages" Iis the correct program to buy of is there another option. Thank you.

I was wondering if the Pages app was the right choice to do the labels etc. I understand that pages I'd a word processing app but I was unable to tell if it could do what I was looking for. The Contacts application will print envelopes and is already on your iMac. See this Apple article for information on how to do it.

iOS 6 can be loaded without problem on the 3GS. Not all features are supported however.

I have an ITunes account. I got it when I got my IPOD. I've thought about upgrading, but I didn't see any reason to buy a newer IPOD because they all come with so much stuff I don't want/need. I don't have my current IPOD filled yet and I really don't need an IPOD Touch that has capabilities that my Droid already has. I don't need to be concerned with documents, mail, attaching to Facebook or playing games. I can do all that on my phone. I just want to maintain my music between 3 devices.

DiskWarrior 3.0.3 and QT 7.1 good news

Good news. DiskWarrior no longer crashes on exit after installing QT 7.1.
QT 7.0.4 would cause DiskWarrior 3.0.3 to crash after performing repairs.

QT 7.1 does NOT fix the crash on exit from DiskWarrior 3.0.3
Turns out I had forgotten that I renamed the sound file in the app package that fixed it for QT 7.0.4.

I tried to activate my new iphone 5 through itunes without a sim card, and my mac air crashed. red and green lights were both flashing but I can't get the computer to power on

I purchased a used iphone 5 on ebay which a.) had no sim card, and b.) still had a passlock code. tried to activeat the phone via itunesbut as soon as I plugged the phone into the mac, the red and green lights began flashing the the computer then shut down, and will not power back up. Any suggestions??

Return the defective phone to the seller, and hope that it didn't burn out your logic board. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to find out whether it did.
