Good Place to Sell iMac

I just got my iMac G5 like a month ago but I think I am going to sell it and get a new Intel one... any recommendations other than Ebay as far as a good place to sell it?

Depends on where you are. If you have a local MUG, their newsletter might have classifieds. If you're in a craigslist city, that's a good place, too.
But auction fever can do a lot for what you wind up getting, you know, so don't rule out ebay.

  • Where is a good place to sell NI myDAQ?

    Hi, I want to sell my NI myDAQ, but not sure where is a good place (not craigslist or ebay).
    I have been searching all over for a place to sell some used labview equipment I have.  I do not really want to sell on ebay or craigslist, as I would like to sell to someone who knows what they are buying.  Does NI have a place to sell used equipment, or do they have a buy back program?  Either might be a good idea.  I have a brand new NI myDAQ.  Anybody know I good resource to sell at?

    Hi!
    I need myDaq for a lab, so if you still have it, I would be very interested to buy it!! I live in holland, would it be possible to send here? Do you know how much it would cost?
    Thank you very much in advance.

  • Good Place to Sell!

    Since I am trying everything I can to buy a Mac system and Logic I am selling my PC w/ Cubase SX. Does anyone know a good website to sell gear like this. I haven't had much luck. I haven't tried Ebay yet because I don't feel you get that good of a price. Maybe I am wrong. I am so close to getting Logic and all I need is to sell my computer. I can taste it.

    To be honest, try other places apart from the web - after all, it would be a real pain in the neck to have to ship your computer to Antarctica....
    Try in your local newpaper or if you're in the UK "Loot"; try putting an ad in your local music store or library or perhaps a local music college. Alternatively an advert in a local recording studio or even at the Post Office - the people who will consider buying your system are everywhere : 0 )
    Best of luck with it all - Logic soon come!
    Easy now

  • Good Place to Purchase iMac

    With the price dropping to just under 1,000 I decided the Imac 17inch with combo drive makes more sense than a MacMini and a Monitor.
    Am surprised that Apple does not sell out their old stock, at least I do not see any of the old ones on their web site.
    The best price I found was at FuturePowerPC. If it is not a violation of terms, has anyone ordered from them? And are they straight up?
    Thanks
    Ed

    I just wanted to thank everyone for their comments. Decided NOT to go with FuturePowerPC as no one had heard of them. Am not slamming anyone, please understand that.
    Felt more comfortable with the suggested PC/MAC Connection. Amazon looked great, except for the long shipping time, 2 to 4 weeks.
    To be honest, the only reason I was interested in the FPPC vendor was that they only charge 139 for the three year apple care plan. Figured it was not worth the thirty dollar savings to go with an "unknown."
    BTW, MAC Connection said it will ship out today and there was no shipping charge or tax.
    Anxiously awaiting the future.....
    Thanks to All who responded.

  • Good place to estimate the price of a Mac?

    Does anyone know of a good place to get a true value of an older iMac? I am looking to sell one we have.

    We actually have a few friends locally who are interested, so shipping would not be involved. I priced it on Mac2Sell.com, and I can't believe how low the value is...here are the specs for some other opinions...
    20-inch 1.8 GHz iMac G5, 20-inch widescreen LCD display;
    1.8 GHz PowerPC G5 processor;
    512MB of 533 MHz DDR2 SDRAM expandable to 2.5GB;
    8x SuperDrive with double-layer support (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW);
    ATI Radeon X600 XT with 128MB DDR memory;
    built-in AirPort Extreme wireless networking & Bluetooth 2.0+EDR;
    250GB Serial ATA hard drive running at 7200 rpm;
    built-in stereo speakers and microphone; and
    infrared Apple Remote, Wireless Mighty Mouse and Wireless Apple Keyboard.

  • Best Place to Sell PowerBook G4 12-inch

    We have a PowerBook G4 12-inch that we're ready to sell. Besides the obvious Craigs List and eBay, is there a good place to list it?
    Thanks,
    Deborah

    Wherever you sell it, be sure to follow the tips on my FAQ*:

    Its companion FAQ lists a few places you can probably sell it through, which sell used and refurbished Macs*:

  • Where is the best place to sell your macbook pro?

    Other places besides ebay and craigslist please
    Got a late 2013 15 macbook pro, brand new, no dents or scratches, and i barely use it. I payed 3 grand for it when i got it, so i was thinking maybe i could 2,500 for it, if thats even possible.
    Also dont know if this is in the right spot or not to post this.

    This means there are no good places for selling your Mac (unless you're prepared to lose more than you would like to, that is).
    It is not unusual for the seller to overvalue their item and the buyer to undervalue it.  Then they have to come to a compromise in order to consummate a sale.  This has been the case for eons.
    Ciao.

  • Would anyone be able to recommend a good place to pick up iBook Screen

    I saw a post here a few monthas back, it was a discussion about replacign an iBook G3 Dual USB Screen....the link went to a re-seller who sold 2nd hand screens but refurbished somehow....
    1. Would anyone be able to recommend a good place to pick up either a new or used LCD screen in either Canada or the US..
    2. Are iBook G3 and G4 screen interchangable
    Thank you.

    Sorry, my mistake. It's the same vendor, though, if you hadn't figured that out. If your 800 MHz iBook has a Combo drive, you need the translucent display. If it has a CD-ROM optical drive, you need the opaque.
    For the translucent display:

  • Norton AntiVirus Software Good or Bad for Imac?

         Would like to know if Norton AntiVirus software is good for protecting my Imac from malware or are there other brands that work better?
    My ISP provides the Norton AV at no cost, but I've heard that it may cause problems, so want input on best AV to use.

    Norton Antivirus (made by Symantec) has a very long and illustrious reputation for mangling Mac OS X systems, sometimes to the point where a complete reinstall is necessary. Among other things, it installs kernel extensions which are known to cause kernel panics and system freezes; it contains known and documented bugs which can silently corrupt Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign files, destroy a user's ability to authenticate as an administrator, and (on PPC systems) can cause Classic to stop functioning; and Symantec has on at least two occasions now released flawed .dat file updates which erroneously report certain critical Mac OS X files as "viruses." (Deleting these "viruses" causes damage to the system that in some cases renders it unbootable.)
    Norton Removal Tool (Symantec Uninstaller):

    And now this, from 11 January 2012:

    There are many forms of ‘Malware’ that can affect a computer system, of which ‘a virus’ is but one type, ‘trojans’ another. Using the strict definition of a computer virus, no viruses that can attack OS X have so far been detected 'in the wild', i.e. in anything other than laboratory conditions. The same is not true of other forms of malware, such as Trojans. Whilst it is a fairly safe bet that your Mac has NOT been infected by a virus, it may have another security-related problem, but more likely a technical problem unrelated to any malware threat.
    You may find this User Tip on Viruses, Trojan Detection and Removal, as well as general Internet Security and Privacy, useful:

    The User Tip (which you are welcome to print out and retain for future reference) seeks to offer guidance on the main security threats and how to avoid them.

  • What's a good place to discuss hardware selection?

    Hi, I have read various documents on the Adobe site, but I am still confused about hardware selection for Photoshop and Premiere. Is there a good place on the forums to discuss that? I saw one question on this forum asked a while ago, but it got no replies.

    The hardware requirements of Photoshop and Premiere can be different. It might depend upon the type of work you do on each program. I'd ask in the Photoshop windows area what they would recommend for running Photoshop. Tell them the type of work you do with them. I'd ask a similar question in the Premiere forum. This isn't really double posting, since the answers could be quite different. Again I cannot emphasize more that you need to tell them the type of work you do with the programs.

  • Where is the good place for ejb3.0

    I am where is a good place to learn EJB3.0 step by step. I could not find a place from sun.
    THanks!

    The EJB 3.0 spec is still being revised, so all the documentation out there should not be considered authorative. There aren't any major changes in the works, but the details and syntax will likely change between now and when the spec is declared final. We will put out a Java EE 5 Tutorial beta (with EJB 3.0 info) in the fall, when all the specs have stabilized.
    Oracle's site on EJB 3.0 has some good stuff, although it's based on an old draft of the spec, so keep that in mind.

    The EJB 3.0 spec itself is available here:

    Does this involve iPhoto for the Mac?

  • Good place to get upgrades for a Quicksilver

    I just picked up a Quicksilver G4 800. I am looking to get some upgrades for it. I am looking at get a dual 1ghz but I would also like to upgrade the video card and add sata drives to it. Where is a good place to get mac upgrades and what is a good card for the quicksilver. I do a lot of video stuff.

    If you run Tiger on your systems, the nVidia GeForce 6200 AGP video card with 256 MB shared memory is a popular one, because it is optimized for Quartz Extreme and Core Image. nVidia never made a Mac version; but many East Asian cards with flashed ROMs can be found on eBay, others on Amazon.

    The above example claims hardware support for OpenGL, Core Video, and Core Animation, making it suitable for Leopard. I cannot confirm these claims. Mine (from eBay) came with an audio VGA adapter and digital DMI adapter.
