Good protective case with neck lanyard recommendations

Hi all,
I just purchased a 2nd Gen Ipod touch for my daughter for Christmas. I am still waiting to have it delivered. I went to the local Apple store and they had a huge selection of overpriced cases. I am hoping to get recommendations on a case that will give decent protection against scratching, and wearable around the neck so she does not accidentally drop it.
Thanks for any help,
Bill

We just bought a macally "Bella" model. It is a leather case for the Touch with an aluminum carabiner and nylon lanyard. It does the trick for the past week so far.
We bought it through MacMall, but I imagine an internet search will do wonders as well.
Enjoy!

  • What is a good nano case with a lanyard?

I received a 4G iPod nano for Christmas, I love it. I also want to protect it, so I want a case/protective cover. However I want one with a lanyard or some sort of clip that I can attach to a neck strap. I would very much appreciate recommendations. What do you like or dislike? Thanks in advance.

Thank you all so much for your replies. I spent a lot of time checking reviews in iLounge and other places, and found it hard to choose. Unable to decide, I happened to be in Wal-Mart yesterday and came across the Belkin flip case. The price was good(< $20), the color nice, and it seems to offer a lot of protection. I worry most about dropping my nano. While the Belkin case is bulkier than I wish, it has a belt holder to which I was able to attach a cord to use as a lanyard rather like the difusi valet case, which looked really nice. iSkin duo was tempting, but I could not figure out from the pictures on the internet if I could somehow attach a cord. At any rate, I am going to use this case for a while, until or unless I see something that is exactly what I am looking for.
Thanks to all again for all of the information and suggestions.

  • Can Anyone Recommend A Good Protective Case for an 80G ipod?

Can anyone recommend a good protective case for an 80G ipod?

The Griffin Survivor is a military-grade case that I use. It's $40 and I purchased it at Best Buy. It has a rubber piece that covers the charging port, but can be easily removed for charging while still in the case. The only downside of the case is because of the added girth, it makes the iPod unusable with iHomes or other docks unless you take it out of the case.

  • Case with a lanyard?

I'd like to get a case with a lanyard. I'm going on vacation, and will be taking lots of photos. I have this feeling that it'd be easy to drop while holding it in camera mode, so I'd appreciate the extra safety of a lanyard around my wrist. I couldn't find anything online

I'm hoping someone will come out with one that is ideal for the video camera. Maybe with a lanyard, a tripod fitting, a handle that puts the record button in good proximity to my finger or thumb, etc.
I'd hate to have to buy an actual video camera just for these features.

  • What is a good protective case for the ipad 4th gen?

    Hi,
I recently bought my first iPad (ipad 4). I want to get a protective case in case I drop it. Some of the features I want include, 360 degree viewing angle, auto wake and sleep (doesn’t have to have this but would be nice) I don’t want big case like the otter box cases. I want a folio case with different viewing angles.
the reason i want it to rotate is because i want to record lectures. so if you know of any cases let me know!
if you could help me out that would be great! I have been researching for over a week! You guys have never failed me before!
is the ipad smart COVER offer any protection?
    Thanks
    Austin

For drop protection, you aren't going to get much better than the Otter, but yes it will add some bulk to the iPad (really any high level drop protection case will). That isn't to say other cases will not offer some protection against dropping, but not as effective. The Apple Smart cover offers no back protection at all, and the Smart Case only minimal.
Not sure what you mean by "360 degree viewing angle" or why it would matter. Any case offering a portrait and a landscape orientation should work. (also not so sure how effective at recording lectures the iPad would be). There are literally hundreds of polio type cases available. Most will offer a number of angles in landscape mode, but fewer for portrait mode.
Even some fairly inexpensive folio cases offer the smart cover function.
I would recommend a trip to a full service electronics store such as Best Buy and have a look yourself. Really the only way you will be able to make a decision.

  • My kids, ages 9 and 10 just received the ipod touch 4 gen for Christmas. Can anyone recommend a good protective case (against drops, they are kids) that is easy to remove for charging?

I have heard the otterbox defender case is great, but many have told me that it is hard to remove for charging.  Any suggestions?

  • IPod nano case with protective screen, available in store (looking for one)

Hey, im looking forward to buy my first mp3 player, and its gonna be a white iPod Nano. I read alot of reviews, and some people have problems with scratches, and their screen cracking. I am really concerned about the screen cracking.
Is there a good quality protective case with a screen protector, (maybe a wheel protecter, not noccesary though), that is sold at major stores (wal-mart, circuit city, bestbuy, etc)? Price can be an issue too, so not too expensive. Thanks in advance!

  • Protective Cases for ACD HD 23" While Traveling

    Hello Guys
I will soon be purchasing the 23inch ACD. I was wondering where I could locate a good protective case for my 23inch display while I travel. I went to a local apple store and they recommended that I could either ship it or buy a case from a music store, the type that they use for drums and other music equiment.
    I also came across http://www.pelican.com/
What do you guys recommend? I'll be changing dorms over the summer and then once I am done during the middle of summer I will be flying back home. Should I ship it with a certain shipping company or should I get a case for it?

This is a good idea, I took my monitor from the US to Indonesia and put it in the original box. It arrived in a very good condition. No damage whatsoever. Been using it for over 6 months and it's fine.

  • 4S protective case for a heavy international traveler

Hey everyone. I'm planning to get a 4S really soon. The thing is, my trusty old 3GS's had a lot of tough time with my clumsiness and carelessness and the only way it could last without having to undergo a "glass surgery" every so often was keeping it inside a case (you can't imagine the mess before I got my first case). I plan to do exactly that from day one of my 4S ownership. I did a bit of of a research on the matter and found the LifeProof Gen 2 case much to my liking, there is a big problem, though. I split my time living in two different countries and spend half a week in one country and half in another and that means I keep shuffling between two different SIM cards at least twice a week. Reviews of the case state that one downside of the case is that it can only bear so many disassemblings before it falls apart, which would make its life expentancy very low in my hands. That means I am looking for a good protective case that pleases the eye and does not add too much bulk to the phone, but also either provides easy frequent access to the Micro SIM tray or is designed to be open frequently without any short-term damage. Is there a case I could consider in my scenario? I appreciate your help guys!

The color doesn't matter, but rather your phone type. If you have a 4S, get the newer model of Otterbox. If you have a 4, either model of Otterbox is fine.

  • Protective case for G2

Looking for a good protective case for the G2. What do you have and like?

Slightly different opinion than Snn5, no disrespect intended.

Very low profile. Adds just the right amount of grip, without being bulky. Probably would not protect the phone much from a drop, but this will prevent it leaving your hands.

  • Recommendation for case with a clip and protection on all sides, snug fit.

I'm looking for a case with protection on all sides, with a clip, with a snug fit -- i.e., not designed for ever make / model (not one size fits all). I bought the case at the Apple store with a clip and a snap, but the top of the phone is mostly unprotected (uncovered) and I don't like the flap with the snap because it does not close correctly unless I stop what I'm doing and look at it to make sure the snap lines up (i.e., the flap has too much extra material and does not line up automatically with the snap).

Otterbox Defender case which provides excellent protection and probably the best protection of all available cases which includes a clip.

  • Best protective cases for bare internal hard disks used with drive dock?

I've been noticing that my external, powered hard drive enclosures are taking too much space; plus I think I can save money by plugging internal hard disks into a drive dock such as http://www.newertech.com/products/voyagerq.php , then connecting that via FireWire 800 to my Mac Pro.
However, I don't want to leave them exposed when not active. I've searched around and found several options like silicone holders and WiebeTech's VHS-esque boxes, but not a really thorough roundup of protective cases.
Does anyone have any firsthand experience or recommendations for protective cases?

Thanks for the Google Base link, but it doesn't seem to work any more.
I did manage to find some cases from a company called Technology Directions in Melburne, Australia.
I needed something that would sit well on a shelf, but also offer good durability and anti-static protection. I also have some 2.5" drives from notebooks that no longer work, and some 3.5" drives that won't fit into my current system at the same time.
I saw some good reviews, so I ordered a 10-pack and they arrived in under a week, with very reasonable shipping. They came with labels and foam padding (which I only needed for some of the drives). I now have 10 cases holding 14 drives, in protected bliss, on the shelf. I can read the label and instantly see which drive I need, instead of peering into anti-static bags. Highly recommended.

  • With the 5s iphone will there be a protective case like otter box that will allow access with the fingerprint?

I have a 2 year old and have to have a case on my phone.  just wondering if the finger print access will be functional with the protective case.

You'll need to look on the support site of the manufacturer.

  • Protective Case For a 5800XM With Extended Battery...

    Hi folks
    Simple question - I hope!
The extended battery that you can get for the 5800 sounds excellent.  BUT - is there a protective case that can accommodate the extra bulk of the battery and its new, wider, rear cover?
I currently have a Proporta leather case which is excellent.  But the supplier of the extended battery (Mobile Fun) tells me that my 5800 will no longer fit in this case with the larger battery fitted.
Does anyone know of a similar protective case that will do the job with the larger battery?
    Thanks in advance.
    Very best wishes
    Simon

I to bought the extended battery from a vz store and got the standaed droid holster, pretty tight fit at first but as you use it it does loosen a little bit.  Be assured it will not fall out of the holster.  Problem withthe holster is if you then go and buy the windshield holder so you can use the droid like any other gps it WII NOT fit as the power connector will not line up.  You actually  have to take off the holster and slide in the adapter  but who wants to be chagning things all the time.  I am hopeing motorola will figure out they have a fitment issue and comes out with the correct holster and windhield mount for a droid x with their extended battery installed.  Who ever thought a sill mm meant so much???
You gotta be really careful though.  My friend has a leather bound case identical to mine.  They got it to fit over the extended battery, but the fit was so tight it broke off a holding tab on the case when they tried to remove the case.
