Good Reader question ...

I have an issue with not being able to bring back auto disapearing menu . ( Ipad ios 4.2.1 Good Reader v 3.2.0 )
I have a simple sheet PDF document and when I tap a link in the PDF document it shows desired html file - but .....
menu disapears after a short while and no way to bring it back .
Is there some other method to make menu to stay on or bring it back .
I'm aware on tap in the middle and three fingers tap solutions but those will not work .
Example of file that gives me problems with that is :

There is no problem with viewing the file itself
( it is a 360 degrees panorama ) but disapearing menu is a problem as I cannot go back to original PDF ....
( FYI - for other html documents , images etc
tap in the middle works - three finger tap never works for me ... )

If you browse above file on Ipad the menu will not disapear ( file will not
go fullscreen ) OTOH if it is reached from for example PDF file - the menu on the PDF and html file is supposed to disapear - it is a very nice feature -
normally when you tap on the screen the menu comes back -
but with this kind of panoramic file it is stuck in fullscreen ....

This is a follow up. In response to Chris Rake's answer: ports open fine, there is one good read, and then just zero length strings in ports buffers.

The old server works fine. This problem occurs on our new server only. We want to run the same app on the new server. Of course not at the same time. So we shut down the old server before starting the new one. But we still get just one good read from the serial devices. We do not get any error message. Would it be possible to get a phone number so that we could call the NI and describe our environment and the issue we came across in more detail. Thanks.

In Good Reader I cannot now create a new folder in the"manage files" area. any ideas?

That works for me on iOS 7.1 and GoodReader 3.20.0.
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
No data will be lost.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
To recover completely you'd need to restore from a back up that contained the app data. Alternatively you can just restore the app by redownloading it.
You can re-download content purchased from the app store using the purchased option which is revealed by tapping the updates option at the bottom of the screen of the App store app on your iOS device.

In BDC you would have all your legacy data in an internal table. Use Delete Adjacent dulpicates syntax to delete duplicate entries.

Yes, we can do that by combining the two bdc program codes together. Then you perform the program routine accordingly. However, it will make your BDC program very long and complex.

Exceptions is used to handle errors.
Can we use Session method & Call transaction both in one BDC if yes please give me example and scenerio where we use this?
You start your dataload using Call Transaction and if any errors occur push all those errors in a session so that your dataload takes place uninterrupted and you can processs ur errors later.

How about a good reads sectrion. Reading material on Arch and Linux

K awsome wiki best done yet ,, no need for a how to section lol. Anyways might be interesting to have a good reads section on the forum relating to Arch and linux. The wiki is kewl but not all the good reads are on the arch site. This may help a lot of new users find reads to help them out.

Section on the forum to post links to good reading material like help files or websites with articles pertaining to helping with Arch and linux. Say a good site on a wifi card or how to manually set up networking for a laptop in linux etc. Same idea as a how to's section but rather based on where to find the reading materials you need.

Having problem with opening good reader

I just purchase keynote and good reader apps yesterday and having problems opening them. I've reinstall them few times then they worked for once or twice and now it doesn't work at all. Please provide me with some help.

Have you tried the basic troubleshooting steps, restart, reset, quit the apps and restart?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
In order to quit or close apps - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

TS1702 had to pay for a previously purchased app (Good Reader) twice

I have purchased Good Reader for my iPhone and iPad. I had to reinstall it on my iPhone due to my previous iPhone being stolen, and had to pay for it again. When I went to use the Good Reader on my iPad it wasn't working properly. So I deleted it and tried to reinstall it and I had to repay for that one too when I already owned it. So this is $4.99 paid twice. May I have this looked into please?

Good Reading material

I would be grateful if anyone could suggest good reading material
or any other sources of information for Developer 2000. I am new
to this area and will using forms to build a front-end, which
will basically be a query tool for signalling data that we
capture of satellites.
I have been teaching myself with the demos and cue cards that
come with 2000 but need to build screens that allow users to
custimise their search.
I would also be grateful if anyone can suggest how I can manually
display records that are fetch back from a query. Currently, I
have used the wizards to create datablocks and used the built in
execute_query.

IPhone and Good Reader problem

My iPhone worked great, then I installed Good Reader which tried to open everything. I deleted Good Reader but now I have Dropbox trying to open video files, and I cannot find out how to disassociate certain file types from certain applications. Grateful for any help

I was on the phone with a tech all afternoon Monday and he could not resolve this problem. He said he was off Tuesday but would call me back today after further research. It's almost midnight and not a peep.
Late Monday, I did get my iphone to sync -- once -- after reading some of the discussions threads for ical syncing problems. I reset the isync history and deleted a couple of files and entourage finally synced through to the iphone. Today, however, my entourage updates failed to sync. Worse yet, some appt. that had been in iphone disappeared with today's attempt. Resetting and deleting files today did not work. Darn. My ical calendar is not syncing with entourage correctly so how can I expect it to get through to the iphone?
I have the sense that our sycing problems go beyond iphone and reside in Apple's isync or ical or both SW. I add my malaise to the list in hopes of seeing a solution posted soon.

Why do you expect us to create duplicate replies, replying to you, when we know they already exist in these forums?There seems to be a strange believe in many people asking this kind of question that "personal opinions" are somehow more useful if they are posted in response to a newly posted question and not posted in response to another identically phrased question.
Or, they could simply be egocentrical douche bags who don't care if they ask the same question that's already been asked a thousand times before.

Is Pages a good 'reader' app for Word documents ?

In doing a few searches in this forum on the subject I find some conflicting reports ( what a surprise ) so I am compelled to ask :
How good a job does Pages do in reading Word documents particularly Word documments from PCs?
Most of our word proc needs are met very well by Appleworks but it does a very poor job of retaining the formating of tables & such. I don't need a copy of MS Word for everyone in the shop if I can just find a way to read Word docs reliably.

I think Pages makes an excellent "reader" for Word. Even though I do have Office 2004, I rarely open it. Pages is my first choice to open a Word file, including all of those PC ones I get from work. You may get warnings that certain fonts are missing, but Pages will replace them with a close relative that you have. The only other warning I get is that page borders aren't supported. I've even checked the same Word documents in Word on both the Mac & PC & don't see what is missing.

Now I have a requirement to read the question id and answer id which is generally in the below format.

Please let me know how can i retrieve the the question id and answer id with the above inputs.

Buffered Reader question.

I am writing a program that reads data from multiple text files.
When the program would need to read data from a different file I just reasigined the Buffered Reader object. For example:
reader = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(new File(<name of first file>)));
reader = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(new File(<name of second file>)));
Is this a good method to use, or is it better to instanciate a new buffered reader object for each file?

It is fine, the old reader will be GCed after a while.
However, you might want to close the stream before just dumping the old one, as OSes have a limit on the number of files an app can open at one time. Plus it might leave the file locked, so other apps can not use said file.
