Complaints and Suggestions.
The Nokia N95-3 should have been the Nokia N95 that was initially released. I’m a little annoyed I had to buy a second phone to get the results I expected.
N95 is only a "half" Symbian phone. The n95 is now called: "N95 Beta" by heavy symbian users.

Near-perfect?! Heresy! Burn him! Buuuuurn him!
J/K. I've been playing too much Painkiller lately. My apologies.
I did do a search on both Arch and Ladislav, but as you cite, the article apparently hasn't posted yet on their share of the tubes. I still think, however, that you don't have to be "moderately experienced" with linux to use Arch though.  I think we should really quantify that misnomer as "anyone with technical prowess" instead.  I've had a few window user friends put down their pitch fork and torches with little or no guidance from myself while immersing themselves in some Arch holy water.  Granted, some of them have engineering degrees, but zero linux experience.

  • Good review on PS, installed it and didnt work :(

So I ordered a MGE XG Vigor 500 500W Power Supply - read some decent reviews and I though for the money why not.  Well I got it along with all my new PC parts, installed it and nothing.  So, I swapped it out with my real 350 that came with my cavalier coolermaster case and they power supply worked.  I ordered another one - lets see what happens....but I am sorta leary about it - has anyone used MGE power supplies?  Its nice, its got 120 fan (and another but both blue neon), adjustable fan speed which I liked, sleved cables, and it ran really quiet - just wouldnt boot   I sent it back and ordered another - hope it was just a dud, there really isnt much to miss when installing a PS.

    Given Basic Building Tips Quote
As this pertains to A64's make sure that you have a power supply that is either approved for use by MSI/AMD or that you have plenty of amps on the 12 volt rail. Typically we have noted many issues based on stability with PSU's being rated at less than 24A on the 12v rail.
This was wtitten with respect to the Nforce3 boards this requirement has certainly not gone down with the Nforce4 boards.
So given your figures I really can't say it's a good choice.

  • App got good review but only one star

    Hi everyone:
I have a App in AppStore and so far got almost perfect reviews (only one 4 star, others all 5 star). Today, a user left a review which said many good things about my App. Totally positive. But he gave me only one star. I think he forgot to checked the star after writing the comments.
Is there anything I can do about this?
    Thanks,
    ff

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. At least anyone reading the review will realise that it is a mistake.

  • If I went to the genius bar today and want to give a good review the employee that helped me how do I do that?

How and where do I go to write a review that will go to his store specifically?

Reviews can only be posted for apps downloaded from the App Store.
If you trying to write a review for an app you downloaded, type the name of the app in the search field top right corner of the App Store window then click Write a Review under Customer Reviews.

  • SQL : Good Review Exercise (JOIN, USING, COUNT, SUM, ON, WHERE, LEFT...)

Back to school, I'm already stumped on this review question. Its been a while...and I think there have been a few changes to the NATURAL JOIN statements. Any guidance would be appreciated.
    the following are abreviated....
    T_CUST
    custnum c_last curbal slsnum
    124...........adams........418.33......3
    256...........samuels.....494.44.......6
    311...........ford............43.43.........8
    T_REP
    slsnum s_last totcom
    3..............bush........3454
    6..............pooch.......434
    8..............kooch.......4
Display the number of customers each rep has, along with a total of their balances.
I have this so far but its way off.....
    SQL> SELECT slsrnum, c_last, s_last
    2 FROM (SELECT slsrnum, c_last, s_last
    3 FROM ct_ust OUTER JOIN t_rep
    4 USING(slsrnum)
    5 ORDER BY slsrnum, c_last);
Thanks for the time, its a simple query, but i'm stuck....!!>>!>

If you want that in ANSI syntax, it would br:
SELECT r.slsnum AS "Rep #", COUNT(*) AS "# of Cust",
           SUM(curbal) AS "Total Balances"
    FROM t_rep r
         LEFT OUTER JOIN t_cust c ON r.slsnum = c.slsnum
GROUP BY r.slsnum; However, are you sure that you actually need the outer join? Are there really salesmen without customers? If so, how do you want them to show. With the outer join, if I add a salesman without customers:
INSERT INTO T_REP VALUES (4,'smith',0);Then with the outer join I get:
SQL> SELECT r.slsnum AS "Rep #", COUNT(*) AS "# of Cust",
      2         SUM(curbal) AS "Total Balances"
      3  FROM t_rep r
      4       LEFT OUTER JOIN t_cust c ON r.slsnum = c.slsnum
      5  GROUP BY r.slsnum;
Rep #  # of Cust Total Balances
             3          1         418.33
             4          1
             6          1         494.44
8          1          43.43Which seems wrong to me. Minimally, you would need to do something more like:
    SQL> SELECT r.slsnum AS "Rep #", COUNT(c.custnum) AS "# of Cust",
      2         SUM(curbal) AS "Total Balances"
      3  FROM t_rep r
      4       LEFT OUTER JOIN t_cust c ON r.slsnum = c.slsnum
      5  GROUP BY r.slsnum;
Rep #  # of Cust Total Balances
             3          1         418.33
             4          0
             6          1         494.44
8          1          43.43and, if you want 0 for the balance, then I would do:
SELECT r.slsnum AS "Rep #", COUNT(c.custnum) AS "# of Cust",
           NVL(SUM(curbal), 0) AS "Total Balances"
    FROM t_rep r
         LEFT OUTER JOIN t_cust c ON r.slsnum = c.slsnum
GROUP BY r.slsnum; Without the outer join, then salesman 4 wouild not appear on the list at all.
But, as I said before, are there really salesmen without customers?

  • Is the general consensus not to upgrade to Yosemite? I have not read one good review.

So I am a little nervous about upgrading my laptop to Yosemite, it seems from the forums that it is a disaster waiting to happen, should I just sit tight until the bugs are ironed out??

These forums are an unreliable sample of Yosemite users. No one posts here if everything is OK. Ignore what you read here as a sign that Yosemite should not be installed.
Repair your hard drive and permissions.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion or Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Backup your current system as a bootable backup. Use Disk Utility, only.

N95 Skype Hype: Fring Vs iSkoot..
I've been searching google for a SKYPE APP for NOKIA N95.
so far I have found FRING with one good review, and another
called Iskoot. The Fring website offers Fring for free!,
you have to provide your number and they instantly send you a
text with a hyper-text link to download. Connect via wireless
to save money Plus Fring is Skype approved
It works with SKYPE and IM and others in developement.
I havnt been spammed on my number either.
As for ISkoot I havn't checked it out yet,
any reviews of iSkoot or Fring would be apreciated.

Fring all the way. Although i've had a few crashes due to the application. the ease of use, auto refresh & ability to run my MSN & Skype contacts simultaneously is great.
I've done a couple of voip calls via Skype contacts and its very quiet. And the only other niggle I have is the annoying "trill" sound when i get a reply!
Think if I got a good explorer app I could use a different sound file and rename it.

  • Looking for a good laser printer for OSX 10.6.8

I need a decent laser printer.  Using Macbook Pro with OSX 10.6.8.  I've given up trying to get the drivers to work on our office Xerox Workcentre 7328.  I keep getting the "OTC at end of life" error and I'm sick of trying to download drivers and try this and that.  All I need is to print text.  I will buy a separate scanner for scanning pictures (any recommendations on that as well?).  I have been seeing issues with Lion and with our Xerox troubles, I'm a little gun shy now.  I was considering the Brother Printer HL2230 I saw on Amazon.
Does anyone have other recommendations or experiences to share?  As far as the scanner goes, I'm looking for something for less than $100 if possible.  This would be mostly for scanning pictures to put into slide shows.  I found this one, also on Amazon:  Epson Perfection V300 Photo Scanner (B11B193081)
    Opinions?
    Jason

If you want to avoid any trouble in the future with new versions of OS X then as Bob has suggested the best action is to get a laser printer that supports Postscript. Looking at the specs for that Brother, it is a GDI device, meaning that may have rely on Brother producing an updated driver if the current driver does not work on the new OS. Now if you are not likely to update when the new cat is released then you should be fine. And there is also a chance that the current drivers will work. But Postscript support does future proof your printer, although it will cost more than $80 which is very cheap. If you do get that Brother make sure you also get the high yield toner cartridge which is a separate purchase. The starter cartridges included with the printers generally have a quarter of the toner that a full cartridge has.
As for the scanner, I've read good reviews about that Epson so it looks like a winner.

  • TS1702 Why ain't any of my reviews on apps being posted anymore?

Every time I post a review on any app anymore, it never gets posted, no matter if it's a good review with 5 stars or a bad one. I don't use vulgar or cursing in any review ethier. So why don't they get posted, and how do I fix this issue?

I assume you got the games for your iPod via the App Store. What you're trying to do is run an app developed for iOS and meant to run only on iOS. You'll be unable to run them on anything but compatible iOS devices.

  • W540 is being shipped - having second thoughts after reading such negative user reviews.

Hello I just purchased a high end W540. ($3,500 including tax)
I purchased the machine Monday afternoon based on my trusted colleagues advice to go with Lenovo.  I didn't do nearly as much market research as I normally would because my current machine, Dell Precision is starting to act up after 5.5 years of excellent use, and I need a replacement sooner than later.   Even though, we went over the specifications with my colleague in detail before finalizing the purchase I don’t believe my colleague is aware of all the negativity surrounding the latest W540 model.
Although I think I will be fine with the W540 because most of the negativity is focused on the keyboard and trackpad I still would like to have some re-assurance the W540 was a decent choice for my needs.  It is possible that I may cancel the order (probably with penalty) based on the feedback I receive from this post but my preference is not to.
    How I use my workstation:
I work with 1GB datasets and run SQL queries, do a lot of development in MS Access including heavy data massaging using VBA.
For me the most important thing is speed when I am working / developing with MS Access.  I also care very much about my Outlook, Web Browsing and YouTube experience.
Ideally, because of the power of the new machine I will also setup Virtual Machines so I can test my applications in various environments.
90% of the time I use my laptop docked and connected to an external monitor, mouse and keyboard.
5% of the time I am using my machine for presentations connected to a projector so I like that there is a VGA output on the W540.  When I do presentations I typically use an external keyboard but I always use an external mouse.
The final 5% of the time I am using the machine as a laptop without an external keyboard but I always use an external mouse.
The Replacement Warranty is extremely important to me because if my machine is down I need it back up within 24 hours which is what the Lenovo salesman promised me.
Things that Concern me about the W540
Heat around the track pad where the palm sits to the point that you have to remove your palm.
Keyboard design is cumbersome and track pad is unusable.
People have said that the Screen is flimsy.  I am assuming that could cause potential damage.
No LED for HD activity.  I am curious with a SSD does that even matter?
There is tremendous negativity on the internet about the W540. Other colleagues may question why I would buy this model with all the negative feedback.
Things that I like about W540
I was able to customize it with the CPU, RAM, SSD that I wanted and it’s a powerful machine.
4 DIMM slots.  However is it capped at 32GB or will I be able to put 64 GB in 3 years?
I am under the impression that Lenovo has the best customer service and that they will honor their 24 hour replacement policy.
It’s light and thin.  I have to admit my Dell Precision is a brick but since I use the laptop docked 90% of the time it’s not a major consideration.
    The laptop looks stylish.

    Thank you for your comments.

    Hello.
Speaking now as a long time W-series fan and owner, and writing this on my W520, I don't think you'll be disappointed with the W540. Based on your chosen specs and the tasks it is destined for, I have no doubt in my mind that it will perform admirably.
I tried out a W540 with the 3k screen when it came out, which was ridiculously fast compared to my W520, but the only reason I got myself a T440p instead of it was the full-size keyboard since I use my W- machine about 50/50 docked / laptop. Today it is mostly docked though as the T440p has taken over as my main travelmate when I need the power it possesses. Otherwise I got a T440s too for lighter work.
My T440p has pretty much the same hardware beneath the "hood", besides the obvious larger specs of the W- series, and it is an absolute delight to work on, and it's by far the most powerful 14" machine I've ever used.
Regarding upgradability in the future, I can only speculate regarding the 16GB DDR3 RAM module compatibility, but I really don't think that they'll become a widespread solution as the new Broadwell Intels have been confirmed with DDR4 support. In any case, they will undoubtetly be a very expensive upgrade.
Regarding the reviews, they are many and vary hugely between users, I can only say that even though the negative ones tend to be much louder, there are plenty of good reviews on it too, and when it comes to the negative reviews, they mostly tend to focus on the changes on keyboard layout, the new ClickPad and the "lack" of vintage ThinkPad features, none of which I think are crucial when it boils down to the actual performance of the machine. I've also seen highly negative reviews on the 3k display and the scaling problems some programs have with such a high resolution display, but that is hardly Lenovo's, or any other computer manufacturers fault. Besides, since you ordered the FHD display, you won't have those problems.
I can't really comment on the Lenovo support in Canada, but here in Iceland, our Lenovo partner goes way beyond the call of duty to keep their customers satisfied. In all my years as a ThinkPad user, starting with IBM, which our partner here also manages, I've never had a single issue with them. The official online support is also the best I've experienced as well as these forums here, but this peer2peer network is unrivaled in terms of collected knowledge to almost any possible situation and scenario.
In any case, you'll probably have a completely different experience with it than anyone else, as it's a highly customizable machine, and personal preferences and experiences will always vary greatly. But I would most certainly do the same as your colleague and advise it for anyone looking for a powerful workstation.
Best wishes and best of luck with your machine if you go through with it!
    Atli Jarl.

    Good review.

    Reading it right now
Arch seems to get a lot of attention lately!
I still find linux-mag.com's articles more often then not boring... It seems like a 15 yo blog, not the high quality publication of before. But then, now its free
Edit: After 2 paragraph, they can't even link to the website: http://www.archlnux.org/ instead of http://www.archlinux.org/ ...
Edit: Still a nice article that talks about Arch general terms. It should give Arch more visibility!
