  • One good use for a PC

Found one good use for my vaio laptop.
I had a problem that went like this:
Adventures in Sony Mini DVD land....
    Original Message ( Posted Oct 11, 05 7:49 am )
    OK...
I've read & digested all the good advice 'round here regarding getting DVD into FCE.
    SCENE 1, Act 1:
Customer gives me Sony Mini DVD's recorded on an NTSC cam, and wants an edit deleiverd in DVD NTSC. I live in a PAL country. And I own a cheap camera that doesn't appear to have any kind of NTSC playback or recording option. I use this to digitize. So recording the analogue output of my DVD player is out.
Paid my money and got DVDxDV..
    YAY! working well EXCEPT!!!......
SCENE 2: ...these DVD's are dual sided. the contents of side 1 show up as what I assume are chapters. These I converted to NTSC for Final Cut and everything is rosy. However the final chapter thingy seems to be an fast forward silent montage of the contents of side 2 of the disc.
The other side of the disc placed upwards in the DVD tray gives me no joy in either DVDxDV or in Macs DVD player. The superdrive won't touch it.. Both sides play on my domestic player.
Anyone got any experience/advice/ideas/condolences to share?
Tearing my hair out, and if you've seen my picture (think Yoda but pink) you'll understand why that can't be a good thing...
    Pete
    Then..
    UPDATE:
the superfast forward montage thing is stills captured to the disc.
I used disc utulity to make a new disc image (.cdr) which has a ts_video folder and a DCIM folder which has stills in it.
No idea of whether or not I'm getting anything from side two in amongst all those chaptery thingos I converted.
Now I have a Video TS folder I might try opening THAT with DVDxDV.....
    + + + + +
Well no joy with side 2 till I had this flash...
Sony Laptop, sony proprietary stupid format. Maybe if I...
Then bingo! The vaio recognized the files, I copied them to a cdr, and i carried the disc over to my uncooperative mac.
So the whole thing is laid out here for anyone who ever gets lumped with this kid of edit job.
BTW Google was totally useless on this topic (where the dual sided version of these dumb sony 8cm DVD's was concerned)
So, as it turns out, this info could be worth somethin'...to someone...

Thanks for the feedback Master Y.
PCs do come in handy. I use one every day for various duties.
I still love my Mac, even thoug hit's done quite a few laps.

  • Post Goods Receipt for Inbound Delivery using WHSCON IDoc

    Dear All
Currently I am working on a big project dealing with EDI connections to our logistics partner for the Export business. The entire message flow between Lindt and our partner should be via EDI. Our SAP release is (still) 4.6c.
We will create two kinds of despatch advice messages, one for inbound deliveries and one for outbound deliveries for customers.
I would appreciate your support in the following problem that I am facing with the inbound delivery scenario:
We create stock transport orders (purchase orders, POs) for the goods intended to be delivered into the plant at our partner
We create a delivery (type NL = replenishment delivery) for this POs
As soon as we post the goods issue we send the despatch advice (as EANCOM D96A DESADV message) to our partner.
At this point the delivery is basically completed, i.e. packing status (PS) and goods movement status (GM / GS) are equal to 'C' (= completed).
Our logistics partner uses the same EDI message to send us the goods receipts data, e.g.:
    We dispatched 50 units of a product => QTY:50:12
The partner received indeed 50 units => QVR:50:66
Please note that we do not use the QVR segment for the quantity difference (between despatched and received quantity) but it contains the received units. This way we avoid negative values in the QVR segment.
When the logistics partner sends back the DESADV message containing the received quantities (QVR segment) we want to make
the goods receipts for the products in the original stock transport order and
upate the message flow in the delivery
My idea was to transform the incoming DESADV message into a WHSCON.DELVRY03 IDoc based on the documentation in: [Delivery Interface|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm40/helpdata/en/e2/654b15a9f411d184ec0000e81ddea0/content.htm]
In the delivery header control E1EDL18 I used QUALF = 'PGI' (Post goods issue).
I prepared an inbound WHSCON IDoc according to the documentation mentioned below. I managed to get some feedback from the Idoc processing implying that the system tried to do the goods receipt in the PO but failed.
To make a long story short here are my questions:
Can an inbound WHSCON IDoc used for doing both the goods receipt in the PO and the update of the message flow in the delivery?
Does anybody have an example on how to fill the WHSCON IDoc?
    Or is my approach a cul-de-sac ?
    Kind Regards
       Uwe
PS: A related question can be found here: Goods Receipt in PO AND Message Flow Update in Inb. Delivery using WMMBXY

    Hi Uwe,
Can an inbound WHSCON IDoc used for doing both the goods receipt in the PO and the update of the message flow in the delivery?
The binary answer would be no. You should use WMMBXY or MBGMCR instead.
But if we are doing goods receipt against Inbound delivery then answer is YES with additionally E1EDL18-QUALF = 'PIC' populated. But please remember no partial receipt is possible against Inbound Delivery.
We should populate E1EDL20-VBELN with our Inbound delivery number and line item info should go to E1EDL24.
I have done a similar interface recently where we are doing receipt against Inbound delivery. But our case was a bit complex because we had to support against Inbound delivery. So we had to go for a custom solution on top of IDOC_INPUT_DELVRY.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions.
    Regards,
    Rudra

My guess, is that this material is not really maintained in the Plant '1001', to be on the safer side, get the exact values from EKPO itself, also check if this material exists in the table MARC for the plant and storage location.
    MOVE '1001' TO gm_item-plant.   "<< Hard coded
    MOVE '' TO gm_item-stge_loc.
Replace the above hardcodes to something like this to get the actual value from EKPO.
select werks lgort into (gm_item-plant, gm_item-stge_loc) from ekpo
       where ebeln = gm_item-po_number
            and ebelp = gm_item-po_item.

  • What is a good strategy for keeping the OEM GRID up and running?

    Hi,
What is a good strategy for keeping OEM GRID up and running? Currently, we have grid installed on one linux64bit box with 4 cpus and 8 gigs of RAM, oms 10204, repdb 10204, agent 10204. In addition to using this oem grid for notifications and performance monitring, we are also using this oem grid for scheduling over 700 jobs running over 30 targets.
What is a good strategy to have to backup the grid so that when this box goes down, we can restore and then recover the grid? Please lead to white papers or documentations. Thank you.

  • BW Cubes for reporting of Goods Receipts for materials

    Hi,
I need information regarding cubes, I beleive they will be from MM area, required to be installed to report on Goods receipt for materials and the associated amount Spend that will result from those receipts, including related charges and fees.
    Please share the information.
    Thanks,
    Rajani

    HI,
If you need to get only goods receipts at MM Side you should be aware of movement types generally 1* in your system to get their values and Quantities.
If you are going from FI Side you can have FI Document type WE for GR which will help you in getting the spend amount .
    Hope this helps for you.
    Thanks.

  • A good tutorial for Oracle BI Publisher

    Hi,
I am new to BI Publisher. I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 and want to build reports in it. I found BI Publisher a good tool for building reports, based on its features on OTN and now I want a good working tutorial for using it. Is there anything?
    Thanks,
    S/\EE|)

Hi Saeed, a good starting point would be the BI Publisher user guide. Please check the link for the documentation on the latest release: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/bi_pub.html
Also when you install the desktop installation, you will find some sample template and XML data at - "C:\Program Files\Oracle\BI Publisher\BI Publisher Desktop\samples" or the path where you installed it.
In case you plan to use APIs, sample codes are available in the user guide. And if you are in EBS environment, I am sure you will like the blog link maintained by Tim on how to get started with APIs: http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/newsItems/departments/xmlpForEBusinessSuite/2007/03/12

  • Goods receipts for PO with RF solution

    Hello Experts,
In our warehouse,we want to post goods receipts for purchase order through RF solution by scanning the PO# barcode.
Is that possible? If possible can we ask our vendors to have the Barcodes designed for each purchase order document which support SAP RF solution?
My users want to goods receive in automated RF process where he needs to scan barcode and receive it.Can any one explain me how we want to proceed?
    Thanks in advance

    Hey,
This is firstly going to involve the development of a custom RF transaction to allow for such functionality to be made available on an RF Device (handheld/truck mount).
The complexity of which depends upon whether you are then receiving into IM/ WM/ WM with Storage Unit Management or WM with Handling Unit Management.
The barcode itself, as supplied by the Vendor on any receiving documentation, simply needs to be in a format that can be recognised by your choice of RF Scanning Device.
Can you give us more information as to the level of Warehouse Build, as this will drive exactly how much development will be required for such a transaction?!
    thanks,
    A

  • Good book for OCA

Can anyone suggest good book for Oracle Application Server OCA

I can tell you from personal experience that it is extraordinarily difficult to write a technical book with zero defects. Spell-checkers and grammar checkers produce huge numbers of false positives when looking for standard (i.e. non technical) errors. Technical errors are easy to introduce -- forget to add a 'Not' in a sentence, or something similar -- and hard to detect afterward. When I read through my study guides looking for errors, I tend to see what I meant to write.
That said, such defects are normally a tiny fraction of the information contained within certification manuals. A couple of reviews on the Oracle Press 1Z0-052 book written by John Watson mention a couple of errors and then imply the book is filled with more. I've read the book and it is very informative. It contains hundreds of pieces of information and contains about ten errors -- all mentioned in the errata on the McGraw Hill site. The books is good preparation for the text and for learning the basics of being an Oracle DBA.
As Aman indicated, using more than one source is a good way to help to detect inaccuracies. I believe in always using multiple sources and the documentation is generally a good option for that.

  • Goods Issue for Reservation using Bar Code System

    Hi,
Our client wants to use RF devices to post the goods issue for reservations (movement 261) and reversals of these movements (262). I have checked the RF t codes and I do not see this functionality available.
Typically client wants to select a reservation from the list (run MB26 on handheld) and then post GI by selecting the reservation.
Can anybody suggest how to handle this situation using handhelds?
    Thanks,
    -Shekhar

    HI,
you should developed your own transaction for this functionality.

    Hello Gurus,
I am a BW/ BI consultant . I have an issue with the (Good Movement ) Consumption of goods for the production and the reversal of the goods back to the inventory. When i am fetching the data for the fields Quantity used for production, Planned Quantity with Scrap i am getting this values as negative and for the reversal of the same good its coming as Positivel values
Could any one kindly explain me about the Good Movement followed in the PP like the 261 and 262 . and why i am getting the negative values at the BW end, whether the values for the same fields exist positively at R3 side also. For analysing the Quantity used for Production Order which tables i have to refer. i had tried with the AFPO table but i didnt get the information on EMNG( Quantity used for production) field .
How actually the entire process flows.

  • Goods Issue for GR qty to Production

    Hi
While doing goods receipt for a Standard Purchase order (no a/c assignment), we receive goods into stock. But, if there is open Production order (material is due for goods issue to production order) or open Sales order (but delivery yet to be created), then GR stock qty should comedown this extent as a goods issue to direct production / Sales and Balance qty should come into Stock.
Is this possible is in standard SAP with Inventory Management transactions? Please let me know your suggestions on this scenario.
    Best Regards,
    Suresh

Please see the documentation below by SAP
    Manual and Automatic Reservations
The R/3 System supports manual and automatic reservations. Manual reservations are entered directly by the user. Automatic reservations are generated automatically by the R/3 System. There are two types of automatic reservations:
Reservations for orders, networks, WBS elements:
When an order, a network, or a project is created, the components from the warehouse are reserved automatically.
    Stock transfer reservations:
If reorder point planning is used at storage location level and the available stock on hand falls below the reorder point, the system generates a stock transfer reservation in the plant for the replenishment quantity.
<b>You cannot manually process automatic reservations. For example, it is not possible to change reservations for an order directly. You have to change the components in the order. The system then updates the reservation automatically</b>.
    <b>What are the Results of a Reservation?</b>
When a reservation is entered, the following events occur in the system:
The system creates a reservation document, which serves as proof of the request.
In the material master record, total stock and unrestricted-use stock of the material remain unchanged. Reserved stock is increased by the reserved quantity.
In MRP, available stock is reduced by the reserved quantity. This is visible in the current stock/requirements list. The reservation causes an entry to be made in the requirements planning file.
