Good Software for DVD Labels?

I had to replace my hard drive and therefore lost 3rd party apps I had installed. Now that I have the chance, can someone recommend a good DVD Label software? I used expressit before, and it seemed very basic and quirky. It seems to be the only thing obvious and available in stores like Staples, etc. Any other ideas? Anything I can download for free online?

The reported damage is both from the adhesive melting and the imbalance when the label is not placed correctly. Some people have had DVD disks getting stuck inside players because the adhesive loosened. Others complain of stuttering and playback problems....problems that do not show up if the same project is burned to a DVD disk without a stick-on label.
If anyone has used the stick-ons and is not having problems, all I can say is wait....sometimes the poor playback will not be apparent for some time, and then it starts ruining your disk.
I don't use any stick-ons. I think the very first DVD I made, using the first versions of iMovie and iDVD, did have a stick-on label, and the disks were ok after about 5 years. However, I reburned to Verbatim's archival gold disks, and wrote carefully on the disk with a CD/DVD marker. (I don't have a printer that can print to disks).

  • Good Software for Organization

If iCal doesn't solve all your scheduling problems for you, you might want to post any shortcomings over in the iCal forum.

  • Anyone got any good AVCHD FOR DVD Presets they can share for AME CC Latest Version when exporting from Premiere Pro CC Latest Version?

Just wondering if anyone has for download or can share some templates or settings that I can use to create a One Stop Encode that will suit both AVCHD HD DVD Disc and be good as a Computer MP4 File for PC and Android Mobile Playback and maybe even good enough for Full Bluray Mastering.
Currently I am using mostly HDV 50i Material with a bit of 1080 30p and Mobile phone type MP4 files thrown in.
I typically Encode to for DVD SD and HD BD. However I would like to be able to take advantage of putting some of the short HD Video to AVCHD DVD-R Discs.
I understand that the maximum bit rate is gonna be 18mbs? for AVCHD on DVD but am unsure what Profile settings I need to be compliant and as I say if create a good one MP4 that will be good for all formats
whether it be AVCHD DVD, Blu-ray Disc and good for YouTube uploading with possibility of compatibility with some of the Android Mobile Phones and Tablets.
    Thanks in Advance

Here is the solution:  Slow down. Give your project some love. Smell the roses.
Agreed about the roses but alas my next project always calls. Actually, I think what happens is I give each project SO much love that when it comes to exporting, I've run out of time.

Then it would not be a default...it would be an option and you already have that option.
Semantics aside, I would love to be able to have it at least default to whatever option was last chosen. Or, perhaps I shouldn't use the word default again...I'd love it to simply remember my preferred setting. That's all.

I am unaware of an all in one tool as your requesting that is free. However, you can cover your basis with just a few freeware tools.

  • Looking for real good software for iMac to encrypt all key strokes. Online a lot ! Thanks

Hi. Can anyone recommend software, free or not, that will encrypt all of my keystrokes for better protection while online?
User friendly, easy setup & maintenance.
    Need ASAP
    Thanks so much!

Was the friend, perchance, on a PC?  "To understand how KeyScrambler works, it helps to look briefly at how an operating system like Windows actually processes keystroke data." - http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/security/keyscrambler-how-keystroke-encryption- works-to-thwart-keylogging-threats/4648
Do you have reason to suspect you have keylogging software running on your computer?  If you do, you have a bigger general computer security issue because your security would be so lax you could have all kinds of things on it.  I mean, we're talking you downloading malware left, right, and center from unscrupulous web sites and allowing them to install it on your computer.  Basically a Mac equivalent of a PC user running their computer for the past 5 years without any virus protection.  If things are that bad then you're famous because I have never heard of a Mac user who has things going to that extent.  I'm not sure if I could do that to my computer if I even tried.

  • What is a good defragmenting software for the mac, and what is the price ranges if there are mutiple ones?

I have had my mac for about a 1 year 5 months, coming onto 6 months. And I want to keep it running in top shape, or as close as it can get. I Am just wondering what is are good softwares for defragmenting a Macbook and what are the price ranges, and what are the recommendations. Which would you rate from best to worst in other words.

First Mac OS X doesn't need defragged. If your harddrive is ~80% full heavy downloading could hurt disk performance but I'd say you're in the clear. If Apple considered defragging a necessity they would have included it into Disk Utility.

  • Good software to make and burn movies to dvd using 10.8.2

10.8.2 does not support I DVD I am looking for a good software to make my own movies yet be simple to use and burn to DVDs. I'm a beginner and need help thanks

You can use iDVD with 10.8.2 - I am; it still works (although it is no longer included as it used to be). So, if you have a retail iLife 09 or 11, install it. If you don't, it is absolutely worth going to Amazon or ebay or some other resellers and buying a copy of the retail iLife 11 disk.

    Hi Rich ~
One place to find some is over at Version Tracker:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/tiger/
Enter " cd dvd label " into the search field on the top right area and quite a few come up. You can download them and try them out from there. They also have reviews from people who have used it and other useful info.

  • Is quality better with software for converting VHS to DVD than using an actual converter?

Is quality better with software for converting VHS to DVD than using an actual converter?

Not sure what you mean by "actual converter".
If you mean if you just played a VHS tape to a DVD recorder and recorded like that... You will get close to the quality of the VHS.
If you have a good capture software and hardware you might be able to clean the video and audio up. But VHS is pretty limited in quality.

  • What software do I use to make cd/dvd labels?

I enjoyed using iDVD to put together a slideshow for an 80th birthday party.  Now I want to share the slideshow on dvd's, but what software should I use to make dvd labels and jewel case covers?

I agree 100% with Klaus1. You don't want to use stick on labels. If you have an Epson R series printer you can print directly to discs with it.
For printing on discs or making case inserts/covers one application that I like is Discus.  Here are some of the designs I've created and used with it:

  • Mac Disk Labeling software for free? No demo or trial software please!

    Hi!
So my family has a memorex kit for making CD labels and DVD labels... but the problem is that it recommends to use exPressit software, and that's only available for Windows!
I've done searches on software that works with memorex labels, and all of them aren't free, and if they have demo versions, it prints DEMO on the CD art.
Is there any software that works with Memorex CD labels and is fully free? I have the images, I just need to print them onto the labels. Help please? (and please give links, thanks!)
    I have the
CD and the jewel case spine label,
    and the
memorex dual purpose CD label (for making jewel tray art and such). 73950878-A
My printer is the HP Deskjet F4280 All-in-One.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want software that works with these sheets, my printer, and is FULLY FREE. No demo versions or trial versions please! Thank you so much!

    Just my 4c.
I've been using DISCUSS with a Canon i865 IJ printer very successfully for many years now. I can't recommend it enough. (As per a previous post). My PC friend decided to get a copy after he saw it on my Mac.
It's NOT free, and because of it's artwork library you need to order a disc, but I think it's very much worh it. And I've found the more I use the program the better looking and more proffessional looking my discs and covers look. I have to admit I don't use the art library much, preferring my own images taken from the video.
As to using "sticky labels"; I started out using them but switched to InkJet printing pretty quick as it was faster, easier and safer. No labels peeling off discs as mentioned etc.
I know one of the reasons for using sticky labels instead of IJ printing is that labels allow a "gloss" finish. Up until recently IJ printing only offered a matte finish. (As far as I'm aware).
InkJet GLOSS disc's have now become available, unfortunately they are currently extremely EXPENSIVE, so are really not an option for most of us just yet. Hopefully the price comes down.
