Good Software to Make a Font?

I did a search here but the most recent thing that comes up is from 2003.
Does anyone know of any good software that I can make fonts with? This is my first attempt and I want something free or inexpensive just to see how I like it.
Thanks!

You asked for something 'good' and also 'inexpensive'. In general, you
can't have both.
The two suggestions you've received so far include one good and
expensive solution (Fontlab) and one poor and inexpensive (Corel Draw).
Corel Draw's font creation process is absurd! It does one character at
a time and has just about zero ways to select or create any other than
a couple of default font attributes.
An exception to the rule is FontForge, which is both good and free. It
also has a steep learning curve, and requires a cygwin environment.
Somewhere in between, you can find:
Other programs from Pyrus/Fontlab, with varying costs and degrees of
capability, including TypeTool and Scanfont. Scanfont does a
reasonable job of vectorizing images of full character sets, but
should really be used in conjunction with FontLab. They also own and
sell Fontographer, an expensive old warhorse of a program that hasn't
been updated in many many years. The Mac version is a bit newer.
FontCreator (High-Logic Systems). Extremely flexible when vectorizing
images of individual glyphs. It has poor defaults (such as assigning
the copyright to High-Logic Systems and creating many hundreds of
empty glyphs) that have to be overcome. Again, post-processing with a
program like FontLab is recommended, but not necessary.
CR8 Software Solutions:
Has a free font creator, TypeLight, that has limited drawing tools,
can't import scanned images directly, and other limitations. He also
offers a paid version with significantly more capability, and a
separate program CR8Trace, for vectorizing scanned images. All in all,
not great, but you get what you pay for.

  • Good software to make and burn movies to dvd using 10.8.2

10.8.2 does not support I DVD I am looking for a good software to make my own movies yet be simple to use and burn to DVDs. I'm a beginner and need help thanks

You can use iDVD with 10.8.2 - I am; it still works (although it is no longer included as it used to be). So, if you have a retail iLife 09 or 11, install it. If you don't, it is absolutely worth going to Amazon or ebay or some other resellers and buying a copy of the retail iLife 11 disk.

  • How do I make a font in a Macbook Pro

I want to make a font from scratch. I have read that there are two different ways to make a font. One is to scan it in and use and editor and save as a font, which is a very vague answer. What software do you use? The other was mention via a windows sight using an editor within the operating system. Any suggestions on how to do this?
For reference, I am not interested in uploading to a sight that would take my template and convert it. I want to know how I can do this myself on the mac.
    Thank You.

  • Good software

does anyone know how to uninstall GOOD software program from Treo700p?
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Verizon)

If the Goodlink software is not in ROM, you should be able to uninstall it via the usual, App, Delete.  Or, if you have an uninstaller application, it should show up in the listing of installed software.  If not, it's likely in ROM (Read Only Memory) and you can't uninstall it without getting into ROM hacking.  If you do a hard reset (wipe out the Treo) and you have the Good software there, it's definitely in ROM.
The best you can do is hide the icon from showing up in the Launcher using something like Obfuscate.

    Hi Malcolm Lyles;
If iCal doesn't solve all your scheduling problems for you, you might want to post any shortcomings over in the iCal forum.

  • How to make my font thinner

I am using the "Italia" font..
just using it to create a simple logo with company name..
the font is a little chunky and want to thin it out a bit..
can anyone offer some suggestions on making the font look
    thinner ...maybe
using the transform or skew or scale options..
not sure how to accomplish this..
ASP, SQL2005, DW8 VBScript, Visual Studio 2005, Visual Studio

    thanks for the suggestions..
cant change the font as its the font that has been used for
    our business for
    far to long..
we found that there is a Bold version and a Medium version..
    so we are
having our network guys look thru old backups to see if we
    can find the
medium which seems to be the one we used back then..
My intentions were to make the font look skinner, i didnt
    want to modify or
create a new font.. just make it appear thinner.. just like
    with any image
you can mask and crop and blend and blur.. i figured that it
    could be done
    with type..
    but thanks again.

    Hi guys!
As said, my Photoshop makes every font oblique. Not italic, but oblique. So that to make the text straight I have to skew it.
Does anybody know why this happens and how do I solve it?
    Thanks!

How do I make my font larger on my MacBook Pro?

You really can't, OS X doesn't have the ability like on Windows to adjust the user interface slightly to accommodate hard of seeing users.
In fact squinting at the small stuff on Mac's is actually going to hurt your eyesight in the long term.
All one can do is reduce the resolution a little, but it creates blurry text as the pixesl don't match the content.
Another method is to use Firefox + addons of NoSquint and Theme & Font Size Changer, which for the browser you can set minimal zoom levels and menu bar font sizes, while customizing the browser.
You can also get a scroll wheel mouse, then in System Preferences > Universal Access, set a Control key, that way you hold that key down and then use the mouse pointer and scroll wheel to zoom in and out of areas on the screen.

  • Please recommend a good tool to make JSP page.

Hi, can someone please recommend me a good tool to make JSP page? Until now, I use notepad which I found is not professional.

    Hi kvols:
Thanks a lot for your reply. I had used JEditor before I switched to JCreator. I found both of them quite good. I also tried to use CVS sometime back, but got totally confused about it. I will try to search for the other toolkits you mentioned. Just now, I find one named XMLspy from google. Yet I don't know whether or not it is really as good as stated on its website. I will try it out soon.

  • How do I make the font automatically get larger when it come to my screen?

I am a senior citizen and I need a large font. I found out how to make the font automatically get larger sometime ago but have forgotten how it was done. I want the font automatically get larger
each time a page come to my screen. For example, if I am in yahoo
email when I go into my inbox I would like for the font to be larger
without my having to do anything.
It seems to me that I went into "Tools" and got that done onetime but that does not seem to work now.
    Thank you.

You can use one of these extensions to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages:
    *Default FullZoom Level: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/
    *NoSquint: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/
