  • Good source for quality album art

A good source for getting good quality album art, which has a higher resolution than Amazon, try http://www.coveralia.com/ which eventhough it is in Spanish, simply type the artist in "BUSCADOR:" at the top, and it is obvious from there. I've been using it for five minutes, and looks impressive. My iPod has not arrived yet, so cannot test that part, but I assume it will work as it goes into iTunes ok....

This is the same as copy & pasting from Amazon, which has lower quality. As long as you own the CD, I think you are OK. Anybody else able to comment.

  • Good source for learning - SQL Stored Proceedures using Dreamweaver

I am looking for a good source for learning how to integrate
    Stored
    Proceedures using Dreamweaver?
Is there a book or something online?
    Thanks

    Hey Lee,
You find yourself in that position, I find myself in that
    position, every
damn developer/programer in the world find themselves in that
    position. It
may be on different levels, but everyones in the same boat.
Here is my suggestion. Take the existing knowledge you have,
    pick a
technology that is a bit more futureproof (if the one you
    have is getting
outdated) and one that isn't too far removed from the one you
    know and put
it all into that one area.
Databases are really important if you want to be a decent web
    developer. If
you're serious and want to be good then devote time to a
    particular database
and get to know it well. I would suggest SQL Server. You
    don't have to be
DBA standard but get as much knowledge on it as you can.
    Never underestimate
    your required knowledge of databases.
Set yourself goals. Say to yourself "In 6 months I want to be
    a proficient
developer in this language" and go for it. Don't get
    side-tracked into
something else just keep focused on one area and get good at
    it. Yes, that
language will become outdated in time but you will be all the
    more ready to
take on the next because of your past experiences.
I try to look at it like this; It is better to a master of
    one technology
and know enough to get by in others than a Jack of all
    technologies but a
    master of none.

  • Good Source for SATA HDD enclosures?

I am looking for a good source for hard drive enclosures for my MB Pro hard drive. I have upgraded mine, and I want to have access to my old one?

I've never bought one myself, but I have heard Other World Computing recommended. You probably would want to look at a firewire SATA with the Oxford 11+ chipset (I'm not sure of the chipset number--it could be higher). With the firewire enclosure, I think you can also make a bootable clone for your Mac. Hopefully you will get recommendations of what to buy as well as where to buy. But OWC is a good place to start.
    Good luck!

  • Can't use iphoto pics for desktop wallpaper...

    Evening -
I have my pictures saved in Users/shared/pictures so both my wife and i have easy access to them via our respective user accounts.
In iphoto i simply imported this folder and the iphoto library was created with no hassle. I unchecked the option to "copy" the pictures to my library so i wouldn't waste disk space unnecesarily.
The problem is when i choose my iphoto directory in System Preferences - desktop and screensaver, i cannot use any of my pictures for the desktop wallpaper through the iphoto folder (the wallpaper just changes to blue"). In order to use a photo i must point the desktop wallpaper application to look for the picture in the original directory users/shared/pictures....
    Any ideas why?
    Thank u for any help

I unchecked the option to "copy" the pictures to my library so i wouldn't waste disk space unnecesarily.
When you run a Referenced library in iPhoto the desktop pictures option doesn't work. It's one of the pitfalls with running a referenced Library along with
    1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
    2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
    3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
Always allowing for personal preference, I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers.
You can share a library between users:
There are two ways to share, depending on what you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc. then:
    Quit iPhoto in both accounts
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to an external HD set to ignore permissions. You could also use a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.
In each account in turn: Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue, select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new library location. From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
Finally: If you’re comfortable in the Terminal, and understand File Permissions, ACL’s etc., some folks have reported success using the process outlined here . (Note this page refers to 10.4, but it should also work on 10.5). If you’re not comfortable with the terminal, and don’t know an ACL from the ACLU, then you’re best doing something else... Oh, and the warning about simultaneous users still applies.

  • Finding A Good Source for Free GUI Menu Code

Instead of writing everything from scratch, I am looking to find basic code already written that would be a good foundation for my own GUI. Anyone know where to get this? THANX

Maybe didn't make myself clear enough. Not by a long shot, and I'll be happy point out why.
A guy would think that since most applications have GUIs that there have
been many templates already written.Have you tried searching for any? Didja find a whole wealth of 'em?
I don't want just a simple menu. I want a comprehensive layout with
popups and all kinds of bells and whistles.I quote, from your very first post (emphasis mine): "I am looking to find basic code". Your second post indicated you were looking for a "sample layout". Hopefully you're able to see why you needed to clarify.
I would never hire anyone because I have
always coded my solutions entirely by myself. I do
like to borrow code to get a jumpstart. Someone already pointed out the contradiction here, so I won't dwell on it other than to say that if you can write basic Java code, you can add some of these "bells and whistles" yourself to some "basic code". If that's above your head, then super-special-fancy source code isn't going to help you - you won't know what to do with it.
That is what I was looking for. Putting a menuitem in a menu is
pretty simple.Yes it is. And if you can do that, you can add some "bells and whistles" (I still haven't guessed what those are - maybe if you ask for a specific example, we can provide one). If you're looking for standardized code that helps you make your menu extra-fancy, it's called the API. Find a "real-live" menu that does what you want and try to recreate it. Go give it a shot, and come back when you have questions.
Maybe I'll try asking in one of the non beginner forums. I don't think that's a real good idea for you, but hey, give it a whirl since you're apparently too lazy to Google for an answer yourself.

  • How to setup new document for Desktop Wallpaper

    hi all
    new to the forums here...
i'm making a desktop wallpaper to display an announcement for my graphic design department at school, and i'm wanting to know the best way to set up the new document in PS CS4. i'm using the resolutions found under syst prefs > display prefs, just plugging those numbers into the new document setup for width and height. my question is what resolution i should use for a clean and sharp wallpaper, and should i just accept the default settings for color mode, color profile, and pixel aspect ratio.
FYI: right now i'm working on an  20" Intel iMac. models at school include 17" iMac G5's or early Intel iMacs, 20" and 24" aluminum Intel iMacs.
    thanks in advance,
    daniel

"my question is what resolution i should use for a clean and sharp wallpaper, and should i just accept the default settings for color mode, color profile, and pixel aspect ratio."
The resolution is irrelevant - pixel dimensions are all that matter. For instance, if the target desktop dimensions are 1920x1200 pixels, it doesn't matter if the resolution is 72 ppi or 300 ppi. Color mode should be RGB, profile should be sRGB and use square pixels.

  • Is there a good source for iMac parts online?

Does anybody know of a good, reliable, reputable source for parts for an older i Mac?
Mine was built/bought new in 2008. The power supply is dead and the closest
Apple store to me is 120 miles away in Baton Rouge.
    Thanks in advance.
    charly

Thank you. Actually it WAS that far when I went to them in 2009. I am in Alexandria, Louisiana and the closest Apple store then was in Baton Rouge, 120 miles one way. I did find one now that is a bit closer, 95 miles in Lafayette.  Still a good drive. This apparently is NOT a "big" state for Apple and it shows.
Oh well. Back in 1998 there were venders who did carry parts for Mac's and even built power macs. Things change and Jobs and company got greedier.
Oh, right about (not so) Best Buy. The store here only does software installs on the Mac's they sell.
    Thank you for your reply.

  • Pls help to find a good source for technical OWB  overview

    Hello Guys,
I am starting a new job soon where OWB is a major commercial tool to build DW/DMarts with the Siebel Analytics, SharePoint, Oracle Discover and other Front-end reporting systems. I have never been used this tool before. I do have 10 years of hands-on DW experience with terabytes DB using PL/SQL/C/Informatica/Unix scripting based on the star/snowflake schemas and Multidimensional DB in Oracle RDBMS/Essbase. Could you pls recommend me some sources(books, manuals, forum and etc) where I can get a technical overview/architecture of OWB. I think the covered topics would be:
plug-in, visual interface vs scripting, APIs, all available ETL solutions, restart ability, error handling, data models can support, performance issues, cross vendor product evaluation and etc. What would be the best source to start it for person who has a solid understanding of DW but do not have hands-on experience with OWB?. Thanks in advance Dina

    Hi Dina,
...the best Source for Infromation is still here ;-)
I´m working since 3 Years with the OWB, in different Versions and i think

  • [Solved] Good choices for desktop wireless adapter?

    Hi All,
I just moved and can no longer run an ethernet cable from my (old) desktop to my router.  So I am in the market for a wireless adapter that will be reliable and easy to install.  It doesn't have to be the fastest thing on the market, or able to receive signals from halfway down the block.  Just something decent.  Inexpensive would also be nice. The idea of a USB adapter is appealing for the ease of install, but if they don't work reliably (or the install really isn't just a matter of plugging it in), then I can certainly put something inside.  Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    - Hy

I've used this device for quite a while, and until recently, it worked perfectly. Now, I am not sure what went wrong.
As others have said, search the forum for the TL-WN821N device and make up your own mind.
Mine works just fine. Actually I got 2 of them, the other one is in a Lubuntu box were it shows no problem either.
In my experience, with harware and linux drivers, the cheapest the hardware the better chance it as good open-source drivers.

  • Good source for z61m ati fan?

This laptop is becoming a money pit....
most sources on this fan are between 90-110 dollars anyone have a differant route?

It should be bit cheaper from IBM parts, i am not sure whether there is a set price for a fan, but people have been buying fans from IBM for quite cheap nowadays for around 50 USD, which seems to be cheaper than many places. if you have a part number, you can call the maintenance parts department at 800-388-7080 options 2, then 1, then 1 again.

  • Anybody have a good source for T61 motherboards

    Hi,
I have used this board as a source of reference in the past, just never posted.
    So I joined up.
    I have a bit of a problem with my 2 t61's
The first one is an Intel 14.1 Standard laptop.
The board is fried due to my mistake.
I need to get a board for this one asap as its my college laptop and I need to be back up and running in about 3 to 4 weeks.
On the other one I also have an Nvidia equipped thinkpad that died about a year ago and I have never got to fixing it as I had the other one.
    Now I have neither...
So I assume the best thing is to put an Intel board into this on too?
I have all the model number and board part number, but advise on where to buy one and what is compatible would be appreciated.
I dont want to be stung with one with a boot password issue.
I have though about eBay to get one with a smashed screen, but I am also afraid of liquid damage too.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing form you guys.

Well, most people usually end up coming to me sooner or later, so if you'd like my help I may be able to get you one of the rare 08/08 nvidia boards, or an intel board. If you'd like my help send me your model, serial and date code in a PM (don't post the serial in the forum).
