Good webcam to use with Skype please

I have a G5 iMac running the latest version of Tiger. I would like some advice on buying a good webcam to use with Skype. I'll be going Mac to PC. I've heard that the Logitech Fusion is good. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jim

    FIX:
    1. You need Time Machine
    2. Go to folder /Library/CoreMediaIO/Plug-Ins/DAL/
    3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).
    4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.
    5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine
    6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.

  • Ideas on good printers to use with a mac pro

    hello,
I recently purchased a mac pro but
my printer just died. never ends...
before getting a new one, does anyone has an idea on a good photo printer to use with my new beast:
    Machine Name: Mac Pro
    Machine Model: MacPro1,1
    Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 2
    Total Number Of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
I used photoshop a lot; print documents as well; so format must be 81/2 x 11 at least. quality is a must but budget restrictions , well a must too: 300 us$ is the max i can use on this toy. any ideas?
in advance i thank you very much for any help.

    Hi Sandrine,
After tens of thousands of image prints I use Epson
    printers exclusively, printing primarily from
Photoshop. Even all my 3D renders end up printed out
of PS. I get away with a C86 for a small printer and
use a 4800 Pro for serious larger format prints. Were
I to go for a smaller Epson today, I'd go for an
Epson Stylus Photo R260. It is new six ink technology
brought to an 8.5 x 11" printer and the reviews are
remarkable. If you want more bells and whistles, this
same technology is brought out with the ability to
print on CD/DVDs as well and has an LCD screen for
cropping and printing directly from digital cameras.
Those reside in the Epson Stylus Photo R380.
I tend to go with printers which have only those
features I need. Don't forget that the price of any
good printer doesn't reflect the cost of usage. Good
paper and ink combinations are the real cost. The
printer is just a loss leader. For a full page high
quality print, figure that you are spending $2 -
$2.50 per and you won't be unpleasantly surprised.
I'd also suggest not using 3rd party inks in these
new Epsons, even if they are offered.
    Dear Welles,
    thank you for your help.
i have been using epson for a long time and never been disappointed until recently.
the last printer i had was an epson stylus photo R340. always used their ink cartridges... it died on me 2 days ago (it was seven months old). so i am a bit cautious with epson. I will definitely look into the models you mention though.
    have a great day
    sandrine
PS. Please, let me know if you've had experience with canon inkjet printers. i heard their graphic/photo printing is very nice. which models, i have no idea. Plus, I don't know how well they get along with macpro.

  • Re: post on Logitech C270 webcam not working with Skype

I am a windows 8.1 user and I'm using Skype 7.7 and it has all the updates that it needs as of right now and my Logitech C270 Webcam won't work with my Skype and only shows the loading screen. Can you explain to me why it won't work even if I've reinstalled Skype multiple times and restarted my computer as well? Thank you very much.

It seems that the latest Skype versions don't work with AMD Radeon R7 200 Series graphic card. Try to uninstall the currently installed version and install the 6.14.0.104 version using the download links provided here: http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/ASUS-USB2-0-Webcam-not-recognized-by-Skype-6-18... Make sure to disable automatic updates:Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Automatic updates ->Turn off automatic updates

  • Unable to get my webcam to work with Skype

Bought a Logitech webcam chat and downloaded the driver from macam - it works fine (at least I can see myself in my monitor!), but cannot get it to work with Skype. In the Skype prefs there is no camera listed, and it shows a black screen.
I have been in contact with Skype techs, and have had several goes at fixing the problem. The latest, and what prompted the request for help regarding library folders, was the suggestion to delete all Skype files and download the latest version and do a clean install. This was when I found out all the duplication of files in the various folders. I am the only user of this computer - do I really need this folder, the one that looks like a house titled with my name? BTW, desktop folder in my hard drive is empty - the desktop folder in the house has the desktop files!
    I'm confused
    Thanks for any advise

Hi again, Dodger. YES, you certainly do need your Home folder! NEVER delete that! It contains everything that your computer knows about your user account. Without it, you would have no access to the computer or any of your music, pictures, movies, documents, passwords, etc.,
You really need to stop looking for parts of OS X to do away with. OS X isn't like OS 9: you can't expect to understand what each of its hundreds of thousands of parts is for. If your hard drive is too small and you're trying to make more space on it, get a bigger drive instead.
Sorry I can't help you with the main question — I know nothing about Skype or webcams.

  • Webcams that work with Skype 6.3

Can anywone tell me of a webcam that DOES work with Skype 6.3?
I would prefer a Logitec - I have the Logitec Quikcam Pro HD which it seems does NOT work with 6.3.
    Thanks in anticipation

I definitely believe you, all mine are recognized and function.  Due to "ground up" modifications to video, some compatibility was lost on versions 6.2 and above.  If you want your camera to operate, you can either try release 6.5 that came out today or downgrade to 6.1.  One of those should work.

  • Can the built in camera be used with Skype?

I just purchased an Ipad2 with wfi.  I have a Skype account, can the built in camera work with Skype the same as FaceTime?

I think your question was: "can i sue the iPad camera with Skype?"
The answer is yes, once in Skype, simply place a video call, skype detects the camera and it works out of the box.
What does not happen is a FaceTime > Skype video call or vice versa.

  • An external camera to use with Skype

My built in camera works just fine with Skype when I am in my office. However our team is beginning to have video conferences and I am wondering if I can purchase an external camera so that it could pickup all the folks around the table. Is there a particular type/model/brand that is available? Thanks for any info.

For the time being no camera...but keep your eyes open for it.

  • My credit card has been used with Skype but I have...

My credit card has been used for a Skype transaction that I have no knowledge of.
The credit card which has been used is in no way assocaited with this Skype account or any other and never has been.
For some strange reason, this seems to be the only way to report fraudulent activity from Skype, even though I am not a customer.
Is this board post the only way to contact Skype about this matter?

    Ethan83:
This excerpt from the FAQ article I referred to:
Your card has been used fraudulently
It is possible that your card has been used fraudulently to buy Skype Credit. We take every precaution to ensure that only genuine transactions get processed; however, criminals have developed a number of techniques, such as random card generators or using stolen card lists, to gain access to an individuals’ credit/debit card information.
If your card is a credit card, you are not liable for this transaction in any way. All major credit card companies have policies that protect you against this kind of fraud.
If your card is a debit card, your financial institution is required to reimburse you for fraudulent transactions.
We strongly recommend that you contact your card issuer immediately regarding any unauthorized transactions and ensure that no further fraudulent charges are made with your card.
We will also begin an investigation to locate and block the fraudulent orders related to your credit/debit card in our system. If you have a Skype account, please contact our customer service with the following information:
The first six and last four digits of the credit card used to make the purchase. IMPORTANT: Do not send the full credit card number.
The name of the cardholder as written on the card.
The issuing country of the card.
The exact dates (or order numbers) of the fraudulent charges on your credit card statement.
We want to emphasize that this action will only stop the fraudulent orders in our system – it won't solve any other fraudulent charges on your card. It is therefore vital that you contact the financial institution that owns your card.
Click on the link included in the text above, "contact our customer service."  Skype uses instant message chat with a customer service agent combined with web forms as their customer support.  As this FAQ states, We don’t provide support over the telephone.

  • My webcam not work with skype

I have HP Probook 4540s with integrated webcam with Windows 7 Ultimate. I have making video call on skype but does not work for a week.Yesterday I uninstalled both webcam driver and Skype, then reinstalled with latest versions, but Skype does not recognize webcam  I updated BIOS, driver card and webcam, I did restart and it worked videocall but today no longer works.I use skype 7.2 the last version

Certain versions of that particular model's camera drivers are problematic.  You would want to make sure that you are using the generic Microsoft driver or the 5.9 drivers.

Beyond that, make sure no other problem is hogging up the camera resources.  If the camera continues to function intermittently then the internal cabling of the camera or the camera itself is probably defective and will require replacement.

  • Yoga 2 Pro: Webcam not working with Skype?

Hi all, weird problem. For some reason skype cannot load the webcam built into the Yoga 2 Pro.
It works in the Windows 8 camera app just fine.
I formatted and everything and it will just not work.
IT WAS WORKING two days ago, that's why I'm so confused.  I've installed the drivers on the support page and have had 0 luck.
I'm not sure if this is a permission thing or what..
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately I've reinstalled the driver after uninstalling it from the device manager 10 times. I also formatted and reinstalled, but that didn't fix anything.
The camera works for the camera app + the webcam test online. I've tried rollback on the drivers, and installing earlier versions of skype with no luck.
Very strange, all it does is show the loading sign, and never loads.
This is the desktop version of skype btw. I'm going to try it with the non-dekstop version tonight and see if it works.
EDIT: Is there any other camera source besides 'Lenovo EasyCamera'? Their are two drivers on the drivers page, which one is recommended?
