GoodReader iDisk sync error 404

I encountered an error when trying to sync an iDisk folder with my iPad GoodReader:
"Failed: Invalid server reponse: 404 not found."
After some search I found that similar error was reported on a DropBox forum and related to " ; " used in a filename. I hadn't had anything like this but there were " ? " question marks in my names. After deleting them, the sync was all fine.
So if you get this error, check the filenames for some unusual letters, rename files and try again.
Good luck

I found that it was the file name with a / in it.

  • IDisk Sync Errors

Since installing Snow Leopard, I have two types of iDisk Sync Errors:
    1) It says a file was modified on Mobile Me and also modified on My Computer. This is simply untrue. I never use Mobile Me.
    2) It says the file cannot be synced because it is "in use" even when it is not in use and the application is actually closed.
I have used iDisk for 1 year before Snow Leopard and never experienced either of these problems.
    Is there a solution?

    G'day,

  • Disappearing Webpages and iDisk syncing errors in Leopard

    (1) I am having a problem that just started today. I installed Leopard on Oct. 29, I've had it for a couple of weeks. At first, I loved it, but new problems keep popping up every few days. I have an at-home business and I run Safari, Firefox and Safari Mail simultaneously to monitor two businesses. Safari hasn't been affected, so far, but Firefox and Mail will shut down spontaneously. It always happens after I leave my computer, so I don't know what actually happens. But when I come back all I have is my desktop but no webpages are open. The only way I can get them to re-open is to Restart the computer.
    (2) Another problem that started last night is with iDisk sync. I get an error box stating that certain items were unable to sync. Always different items, but all are photos that are on iWeb or .Mac Homepage and have been there since Tiger. I have not changed or altered anything in my iDisk folders since installing Leopard.
The very first problem that I noticed after installing Leopard is that webpages are opening much more slowly than with Tiger. Evenings are always the slowest but it's never been as fast as Tiger. I'm on an ethernet cord, but that didn't speed things up at all from wireless.
Any help or fixes to these glitches will be much appreciated!
These are my browsers' stats and HD info.
    Firefox v. 2.0.0.9
    Safari Mail 3.0 (912.1/912)
    Capacity: 232.44 GB
    Available: 185.26 GB

Yep, I am getting this A LOT too. Hah! ..but not always. By one if those strange acts of synchronicity and after the 6th attempt and 3rd reboot this evening it just finished syncing whilst typing this message. Typical.
But it's been very temperamental and I have had it syncing for hours with no response after only changing a small file. Pretty frustrating - can't really rely on it anymore and am thinking of giving up on the stupid thing and going back to using a USB stick again.

  • IDisk syncing error driving me crazy!

Every time my iDisk syncs, it fails and I get an error message saying that a file can't be found. I know I deleted that file a few days ago. I looked on all my other computers and searched spotlight and can't find anything. I deleted some of the preferences related to syncing, and now because of this I can't sync my iDisk at all! I signed out and back into my mobile me account. I reset iSync and reset sync data in preferences.
    Can anyone PLEASE HELP? Thanks.

You can try this simple fix -
    Quit DW.
    Find this folder -
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
    8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat
(these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use
    Explorer > Tools >
    Folder Options to unhide them)
    or on Mac -
    Library/Application Support/Macromedia/Dreamweaver
    8/Configuration/MacFileCache-*.dat
    and delete it.
    Restart DW. Works better?

  • IDick Sync Error, with no info about problem!

I keep getting the following iDisk Sync Error on my MacBook Air but it doesn't give me any info to resolve -
" Your iDisk did not finish syncing because a problem occurred, please try again later."
My sync setting are set to sync automaticlly with my MobileMe account and the problem has been happening for 5 days without me being able to resolve. When I dismiss the messag eit keeps popping bavk up every 2/3 minutes
I am using OS X v10.7.2. Can anyone advise how to resolve?
    Thanks
    Sean

    Just wanted to add:
Even when I just change the name of the voice memo in iTunes I get the unknown error -13019.
Name changes on the iPhone app are not reflected in iTunes (the still have the date/time stamp as a name there). But sync works.
When I change the name in iTunes too to match the name on the iPhone the sync is not working.

  • Publish Error and iDisk sync

I saw a previous post re an unknown error when trying to publish. I am getting the same error, even when trying to publish to a folder.
In the previous post, someone mentioned an iDisk sync solved the publishing problem. How is this done?

Okay, I launched iWeb, chose the first template offered ("Welcome"), made no changes, then selected File, Publish to .Mac. I got the same error: "An error occurred while publishing file "/Web/Sites/iWeb/Site", and there are no new folders in my iDisk. I then removed the default image, the Apple logo, and replaced the placeholder text with something short, and tried again. Same error.
The default name of the site (in the Site Organizer panel) is "Site" and the page is "Welcome".
More info. The "Visit" button generates this URL:
    http://web.mac.com/[myDotMacName]/iWeb/Site
I tried File, Publish to a Folder..., and that seemed to work, but that's just a folder on my local machine.

  • Airport will not connect to Linksys router after iDisk sync force quit

    Hi,
Hoping someone can help me here, kinda at my wits end.
A week ago I was video ichatting and restarted my MacBook because the video feed was sluggish. I thought a restart would help.
Unknown to me was that my iDisk was syncing. I recieved an warning dialogue box and was given the option of canceling the restart or force quitting the iDisk sync. I choose to force quit and proceed with the restart. After choosing to continue with the force quit I received an error message, it had the phrase "Mirror Agent" in it, and then my MacPro restarted.
Since that first restart, I have not been able to connect, using Airport, to my Linksys Wireless router (model # WRT54 GX4).
This is where it gets strange. Airport sees the router, displays a signal strength, shows up on my list of perfered networks...it displays all of the signs of a fully connected router but when I try to access the web, check mail or use iChat I cannot because Safari, Mail and iChat tell me that I am not connected to the internet.
When I ran the network dianogistic tool, it first asked me why I would want to run it because it thought I was already connected. After running the tool it still came back with the same results, I was connect to the internet. But I still couldn't launch Safari, it just hung.
This is where it gets really wierd. My wife, she's on a HP, can connect, using her built-in wireless card. Even after changing the Firmware on the Linksys router, her pc can still connect.
And here's the icing on the cake. There are some unprotected wireless networks on my street. I can connected to those but not my own! Something has to be blocking the signal between my AirPort card and the Linksys router. Does that make sense?
And if there is one saving grace to all of this, I still can connect to the web using the built-in Ethernet.
    Here's what I have tried:
Removed Perfered Network, restarted MAC, added network back, still no connectivity.
Removed security (was using WPA/WPA2) from the router still no connectivity.
Removed Airport Keychain, restarted MAC, added router back, still no connectivity.
Repaired the permissions on my HD, someone at work told me to try that, still no connectivity.
Updated firmware to Linksys router to version 1.00.20, no connectivity.
Rebooted Linksys router and cable modem, still no connectivity.
Thank you to all in advance for reading my rambling note and forgiving my poor spelling (it is way past my bedtime and the keys are really blurry). I am still very new to Mac's and appreiciate any help that you can provide.
    Cheers,
    Alan

Sounds like you have two wireless networks on the same channel.
Change the channel on the Airport Express.

  • .Mac iDisk syncing preventing reliable Restarts/Shut Downs in Leopard

I have been experiencing a Restart/Shut Down reliability issue with my new iMac and Leopard 10.5.1. This evening an Apple rep I know pointed me to a work-around in Apple Discussions:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5957261&#5957261
This thread notes the discovery by one user that iDisk automatic syncing is not working reliably, and is preventing consistent restarting/shutting down of your Mac. Although, syncing has been working reliably for me both for .Mac stuff, and the iDisk itself, if you do a Get Info on your iDisk it reports, at least for me, that its capacity is 1TB, with 466GB available. I have only the standard 10GB .Mac account, and only 5GB of that is allocated to my iDisk, so something is clearly amiss with the .Mac iDisk setup, as being reported from the .Mac server. If you check your Console logs, you may also see this recurring error message, which is reporting a syncing error, although my syncs have, as I've said, been working correctly:
    11/25/07 9:11 PM FileSyncAgent192 MKCOL /.FileSync (FAILED), httpStatusCode:405, errorType:100, transactionState:5, txnId:3846B904-9ABB-40E5-9928-B9233FAC05D2, auto-retries=0, manual-retries=0
To summarize, if you turn off automatic iDisk syncing in your System Preferences/.Mac/iDisk preference pane, you'll have no problems restarting/shutting down. You may also need to do the power management reset (turn off Mac, unplug all devices and power for 15 seconds, reconnect, and start up) and the parameter RAM reset (reboot while holding down the cmd-opt-P-R keys). You can do this in one restart cycle, if you like. After that, restarts/shutting down has worked perfectly for me.
Of course, I actually USE my iDisk, and will be leaving it on. But, at least I know now how to work around the restart/shut down issue.
I hope Apple adds this fix to their 10.5.2 update next month.
Note: This is such an important issue, that in addition to adding it to a reply in another Shut Down thread, I thought I'd post it as a separate topic here.

MacOS X updates have resolved this issue.

  • Addressbook sync error message in console

    Hello all,
I've seen a couple of (non-answered) threads about addressbook sync issues here, but my question is, I guess, easier to answer.
The following message keeps coming up in my console:
AddressBookSync[91]: AddressBookSync (client id: com.apple.AddressBook) error: Exception running AddressBookSync: * -[NSPlaceholderString initWithUTF8String:]: NULL cString
    com.apple.launchd[63] ([0x0-0xb00b].com.apple.AddressBook.sync[91]): Exited with exit code: 2
I don't even really want to know what the problem is.
But, does anybody know how I can just alltogether stop these syncing processes?
I stopped syncing in: Apples' mobileme preference pane, iSync & Addressbook. I'm not using a mobileme account on that computer (Mail or elsewhere).
So why is this process running?
    Thanks for reading me.
    Cheers,
    TimeLawD.

    Hello timelawd
I stopped syncing in: Apples' mobileme preference pane, iSync & Addressbook. I'm not using a mobileme account on that computer (Mail or elsewhere).
So why is this process running?
This Address Book Sync Error drove me nuts. I use MobileMe but I didn't tell it sync any thing nor do I Sync iDisk. I even turned off Back to My Mac. But every hour that error would hit the log. Great.
So I looked at MobileMe Preferences again and noticed that I had 'Registered this Computer' using the 'Advanced...' button under 'Sync'. Hmm, maybe that's it. Yep. I un-registered my Mac and the error when bye-bye.
See if you have your Mac registered there.
    Good Luck.

  • IDisk Sync Issues

A couple problems which I can solve:
    - iDisk on Desktop has my username listed instead of 'iDisk'. In sidebar it still says 'iDisk')
    - iDisk on Desktop reports incorrect size (out by huge orders of magnitude).
    - some files on my own iDisk can't be deleted as I don't 'have permission' (eg. 'About your iDisk.rtf')
    I've:
    - reset .Mac syncing
    - reset iDisk syncing (same problems)
    - checked the hard disk and permissions (all OK)
    - the permission on the problem files should allow me FULL access, yet it gives these errors...
Please sort out this stuff, Apple...
    Thanks,
    Paul Martin

    A disclaimer: I don't use iDisk myself.
But WebDAV is a Web Publishing protocol. Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning.
I'm under the impression that it's what is used for iWeb publishing on .mac, I suppose that it could also be used for iDisk as well. It requires authentication to publish, usually. If they've horked something up on their end and you're unable to authenticate or your network connection isn't good, this could cause problems with that. If it uses your keychain to authenticate, and uses SSL, which I would assume that it does, I have some ideas.
I was having problems connecting to SSL sites at *.apple.com and other places since 10.5.0, the solution in this discussion: [http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1272177]. Based on your problem and this solution, I'm going to guess that you're on DSL, that WebDAV is what iDisk is based on, using SSL to communicate with iDisk for at least authentication, and likely moving files back and forth as well. That's a lot of guessing, and I may be wrong in any one or more places.
Most of my problems have been cleared up by this. Changing the MTU on the ethernet connection that gets you out to the internet isn't the favored solution, and may disappear if your computer sleeps and wakes back up or reboot (if you haven't hacked some system files to reinitialize this setting).

  • Annoying Sync error - Please help

Once in a while, I get a dialogue box that says that there was an error during syncing because a file was missing. That's because I deleted it. It sounds like a preference issue. Which preference can I delete, or should I do something else? I have 3 computers syncing with Mobileme with iDisk syncing enabled. Thanks.

    Hi again, Elena,
Have you tried fully reinstalling iTunes?
Start out by disconnecting your iPod from your computer, and going to "Add or Remove programs" in Control Panel.
Find "QuickTime" and "iTunes" from this list, and remove them both.
Also, use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility to remove remaining iTunes and QuickTime files off your computer. (A description of it is here)
After you've done that, restart your computer.
Now go to the iTunes download page, and install the iTunes+QuickTime pack onto your computer.
    Restart your computer once more.
After the computer has fully loaded up, open iTunes, and connect your iPod to your computer.

  • Using AppleScript to kick off an iDisk 'sync-now'

I'm using my iDisk to synchronize project work between my MacBook Pro and my Mac Pro.
Unfortunately, I get problems when syncing my iDisk as some files throw up errors due to 'symlinks'. It's not too much trouble as the files at fault are only temporary and can be deleted before syncing.
To get around the problem, I decided to switch to manual iDisk syncing & write an AppleScript to simply delete a few folders and kick off a sync.
The record command in the Script Editor doesn't seem to recognize the 'sync' command. Does anyone know if it can potentially be triggered?
So to cut a long story short; 'How do I trigger an iDisk sync via AppleScript'?
    Thanks in advance!

No, it doesn't have to be an exe... but you have to actually run java.exe just like on the command line.
You can kill it if you hold onto the Process object it returns. Read the API docs for java.lang.Runtime and java.lang.Process

    2.opera not at all downloading
3.pm utils the same like opera
4.for polkit-gnome gvfs a few missing and thus again pending work.
I am trying from yesterday and also did today, i am getting the same results.

I am just putting one error message as it is same for the rest of all other packages. You see as above in firefox one package is pending, balance got downloaded yesterday. Similar happened in polkit-gnome gvfs . Whereas for opera and pm-utils upower nothing got downloaded at all.
In all the 4 cases i got the same error with no downloads or partial downloads .
Now these mirrors have been fast and best for me uptil now and no issue with them.
So basically what these error is and what i should do about the same to complete the installation.

i have done the pacman -Syu just a week back and everything is uptodate.
    @tomk
Short answer: pacman -Syu, not pacman -S.
Secondly do you install firefox or any other package with pacman -Syu firefox or pacman -S [packagename] ????
i have atleast so far installed everrything with pacman -S packagename
this is what the pacman wiki says
    Installing specific packages
To install a single package or list of packages (including dependencies), issue the following command:
    # pacman -S package_name1 package_name2 ...
lastly i solved the problem and the installation went right by unchecking a few more mirrors and the same went alright now.
So for the moment i am labelling the query as solved.

  • Error 404 -- Not Found, when a Servlet is invoked from browser

Obviously, I have not been able to configure my WebLogic Server 5.1.0 to run
              even the simplest servlet.
I painstakenly went through all the steps that are listed in the WebLogic
Server 5.1.0 documentation on the Web to enable servlets, but obviously, I
              have missed a step somewhere.
I have modified the weblogic.properties file as per all the instrustions,
but the server simply won't recognize any servlets, not even the SqlServlet
that came with the server as an example.
It would require more than 1 exchange of posts to resolve it for me, and I
am wondering if one of you is willing to work with me on this until I have
managed to configure the server to make a servlet work on it.
The server does function as a Web server as I can run the index.html
document by entering the URL: http://localhost:7001/index.html
I am pasting the contents of weblogic.properties file below to get the
person who is willing to help me started.
The machine I have is a Pentium III with Windows 2000 Professional on it.
It's a home machine and the WebLogic server is the freely downloadable
version. I am using it to prepare for a potential contract work.
I have managed to modify setEnv.cmd file and have managed to compile the
SqlServlet.java, which is an example servlet. Neither this particular
servlet nor a HelloWorld type of very basic servlet I have written are
              recognized by the server.
As you can see from my weblogic.properties file (pasted at the end of this
post), the SqlServlet has been registered. I have also uncommented the lines
to allow for the following type of URL:
              http://localhost:7001/servlet/myServlet
              Thanks!

              # THE WEBLOGIC PROPERTIES FILE
              # This file, which conforms to the java.util.Properties file
              # definition, configures your WebLogic products. You cannot run
              # WebLogic Server without setting required configuration properties in this
              # file. Required properties are marked and appear first in the file.
              # Details on each entry and important information about configuration

              # You do not need to include properties in this file unless you want to
              # change the default, embedded property. Some properties on the
              # AdminProps page are not listed here because the default property
              # is being used. You can change the default by adding the property and
              # its value to this file.

    Problem Resolved!
I found out that I had 'http' instead of 'httpd' in the statement where I
              registered my servlet, SqlServlet.
Now, I am having difficulty with hot deployment. The server is returning
              error 404.
