Google Advanced Search only displays 10 Results per page in Firefox 3.6.10

In Google Advanced Search, choose any value for Results per page greater than 10 and do a search. When using Firefox 3.6.10, only 10 results are displayed on each page of results. 10 results per page is the Google default, and the Results per page selection apparently has no effect.
This problem also happens in Google Chrome 6.0.472.63.
The Results per page feature of Google Advanced Search is working properly in other browsers, such as Safari 4.1.2 on a PowerPC Mac and IE 7.0.5730.13 and IE 6.0.2900.5512.xpsp3_gdr.100427-1636 on a PC running Windows XP

Google recently made some changes to the Google search site with the addition of Instant search and that made the setting of the number of results in the Google settings to stop working.<br />
<br />
If Instant search is enabled on the [http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en Google Search settings] page (link at the top right) then you only get 10 results.<br />
You have to disable instant search and reload the result page and then set the number of results to your preferred choice.<br />
It may not work if you make both changes at the same time.<br />
<br />
There is a link directly to the right of the Google search field on the Google results page.<br />
That is a button with a drop down list: Instant is On/Off.<br />

  • Need Help Urgently For Displaying RESULTS PER PAGE

i am comiling a serch engine throgh JSDK servlets and using a personal Oracle database. i currently have over 2000 records and when they are returned they are all being returned in one big table. i am trying to get the servlet to display so many results per page, for example 30 per page. I am at a loss on how to do this and have tried a number of methods, i urgently need to find a way of doing this as it is for a Major school project. I hope someone can help me i would be extremly greatful if someone could. Please
    Thanks

    Hello --
One way to do this would be something like this:
    1. Start out with a page where filtering parameters could be entered, submit to the servlet with a starting position of 0.
    2. Grab all the rows from the oracle database, toss them in an array.
    3. Draw items in a table from the starting position to the number of entries per page from the array.
    4. Put a Previous and Next button on the results page to submit back to the servlet in step 2 where the starting position is the current position - number of results per page for previous, next is the has a starting position of current position + number of results per page. You'll want to do range checking, etc on this.
The key trick is to ask one servlet to do steps 2-4. I've used hidden variables on the form with some javascript to set the new starting parameter for previous and next. You could assemble a URL in javascript also.
There are probably slicker ways to do this, but for 2000 rows, it should probably work well enough.
    Good luck.

  • Override content by search Web Part's limit of 50 results per page

    Hello ,
    Happy New year 2015.
SharePoint 2013 search webPart renders a maximum of 50 search results per page and it
is not possible to change this hardwired limit by configuring the web part.
If i set it to greater than 50, it throws an error.
How to override this limit of 50 so that i  display all result in the same page ( no need to pagination).
I look for a client side solution if possible.
Note : i have applied the solution proposed by Matt
Stark int this work around Blog  and i set the limit to 700 but the webPart still get it limit number 50 in stead
    of 700.
in my display template , i see that  ctx.ClientControl.get_numberOfItems()=700 and in my html i see only 50 items per page.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi PiingPoint,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to show more than 50 results in a page in core search web part.
The "Results Per Page" maximum value 50 is hard-code in OOB Search Core Results Web Part by design, so it could only return maximum 50 items per page, when"Result Per Page" value is larger than 50, it will display default 10 items
    per page.
It's for end user experience and performance. Webpart is mostly used as a portion of a page view which users won't want to scroll too much, its not considered to be a good end user experience. Additionally beyond a point we would need
to consider performance aspects to display thousands of items on web page views, hence a maximum value of 50 items without paging has been made available by design to take care of these aspects.
If you want to show more than 50 results per page, you need to develop a custom core search web part to do it.

  • Change the number of search results per page

    Hello Guru's
In the PC UI when you have searched for e.g. a Business Partner and their 20 results. The results are shown as 5 per page.
Does anyone knows if this number is changeble? I want to see 10 results per page.
    Thanks in advance!
    Joost Goduriaan

This can be donw through blueprint table configuration change. This change can be done in 2 ways, one is at blueprint application level and other one is through user personalization.
If you change it at blueprint table application level it effects other users also who uses this application.
To do this go to CRMC_BLKUEPRINT -> Application Element -> FieldGroup, under this select  ACC_SRES_01_V1 and scroll towards right to see the property No  Lines SRES.
This value determines the no of lines on a result list page.
Second change could be done on PCUI application in the browser after launching it.Click the settings hypher link next to Advanced Search Button, there you see the setting for it.Change it to personalize the application layout per user.
    Thanks,
    Thirumala.

  • After upgrading 3.6.7, in "google image search" all the results appears in one page, I just need to go back to the previous way of search : page after page.......??

After upgrading 3.6.7, in "google image search" all the results appears in one page, I just need to go back to the previous way of search : page after page.......??
where can I adjust this option ?? I tried in IE, the search way is normal as in past..
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

I believe this to be a browser issue, not a google search results issue, and here is why:
having updated Firefox only yesterday, I visited google images searching for pancakes.... interestingly, I have the NEW image results (yuck) on Firefox 3.6.8, I have the OLD image results on IE8 and Opera 10.53.
When I use the 'switch to basic version' in Firefox 3.6.8, indeed it DOES revert to the new format next time I image search (in Firefox).
For those of us who prefer the OLD image results page, I guess we will just have to switch browsers for google image search.
Now I'm off to research how to get rid of the UGLY FFox sidebar.

  • Regarding Google Advanced Search, Firefox no longer saves my settings, such as 'number of results,' which I like to set to 100. The Google default is 10 and Firefox no longer saves my setting of 100.

In Google Advanced Search, when I click on Search Settings, I go to the drop down box labelled 'Number of Results' and select 100, then click Save Preferences. Until recently Firefox saved my changed settings, but it no longer does so.

This is caused by the new Google instant search feature. If you disable instant search and use the old style search Google should remember the preferences. The option to turn off instant search is to the right of the search box.

  • Google advanced search page no longer looks like in did in versions of Firefox before 8.0 for the Mac

With version 8.0, the Google advanced search page is different than it looks (and has always looked) with Safari.

    Here are three files.
#1: If the text is larger, items in the right hand column appear below each corresponding text box, necessitating scrolling down the page. See next image.
#2: Part of search page with larger font (the size I usually use). This is a screenshot of a pdf showing what I see (GOOGLE logo at top of page missing).
    Ugh!
#3: How the advanced Google search page looked BEFORE the update to Firefox 8.0. This is how it still looks in Safari 5.1.1.

  • IProcurement  Search Results Per Page

    Hi to All,
Was looking for a profile option that controls the search results per page. We know there is the iProcurement section that a user can set the search results per page. But we are looking for a global profile option.
In researching this option within ML found the following profile: POR: Result Set Size. But this profile doesnt change the results per page.
Does anyone have thoughts on what the correct profile is or why the POR: Result Set Size is not working as expected.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Thanks for your response. In Robohelp 8 there are no options for hiding the search results per page feature while generating the output. Can you please guide me. I tried removing the content from the output by commenting out the followig code from the whform.htm file. However, the text box showing 10 remains. I cannot remove that. Can you suggest?

  • Search Preferences: Where is Results per page information stored?

I need to update the "Results per page" information for all users, and have been trying to find the field in the database. How is it stored??

    Yannick -
Thank you for the reply. Do you know which table is used in OID? Basically why I need to do this is we hire many new employees every week and create accounts in AD. We sync AD -> OID but the people who create the new users never inform me that they have been created so they never get a default group assigned. This causes them to go to the 'Portal Builder' page when they login to the portal.
To fix this issue Im writing a powershell script to automatically update the default group of all employees that do not have a default group assigned. Do you know if a better method I can accomplish this for bulk OID records automatically? I'm very much open new/better ideas this was the best method I could think of currently.
    Thanks again.

  • Outlook 2013 Advances search only shows cached emails

    Hi all,
We have rolled out Outlook 2013 with cache mode on, we have set caching to only one month of data. We are using Outlook 365 as our exchange server.
Quick search works as it should and shows all the results. However, advanced find only shows results from the cached emails. IE nothing older than a month. I have run a re-index etc but still have had no joy. Is there something I am missing?
    Thanks

Just wanted to say hi and check if there is anything that I can do for you on this problem. If
so, please do not hesitate to let me know and I will be happy to help.

  • Google advanced search suddenly behaving strangely

I'm seeing this problem on both my iBook G3 and PowerBook G4
Both are running OS 10.4.9 with current software updates.
Problem occurs with both Safai and Firefox.
I often use Google advanced search. As of yesterday, when I try to place the cursor in a field or clicking anywhere on the page for that matter, I'm immediately returned to the www.google.com page.
The advance search page looks peculiar. The Google logo is at the top left where it belongs but the bar with the legend "advanced search" that normally is under it is behind it instead.
I'm able to work around this odd behavior by holding the control key while clicking but it's a nuisance. Wha' happen?
I've checked this out on several other computers as well. G5 DP 10.4.9 with current updates, G4 PowerPC 733MHz 10.4.8, G3 iMac DV 500Mhz 10.4.9 without recent iTunes, QuickTime and security updates all work OK.
G3 iMac 500 MHz with all recent updates does show same problem.

Strange Google advanced search behavior was corrected yesterday.

  • Can see only one photo per page. How to revert to multiple images per page?

First noticed on my iMac and now on my Macbook (10.4.9)--I'm no longer seeing a month's worth of photos on a single page. Only one photo per page, sometimes with miniature ones in the top border. I thought it was simply an inadvertent click on by part and easily corrected. But all attempts on both computers and reading of Help index haven't led to restoration of an entire page of photos and elimination of the annoyance. I'm wondering now if something I downloaded might have altered iPhoto program itself, making it impossible to view large numbers of photos at the same time. Any suggestions appreciated.
    Cap

    Cap,
This view, with the one photo big and the thumbnail strip across the top, is what happens when you double-click a photo with "Edit in: Main Window" set in the Preferences. There should be a button visible that says either Done or Return, to exit edit mode and return you to the library. If you still see only one photo, use the size slider in the lower right corner to reduce the photo size and get more thumbnails on the page.
If, for some reason, you can't exit the edit mode, you may have a corrupt preference file. Quit iPhoto. Use the Finder to navigate to Macintosh HD/ Users/ (your user name)/ Library/ Preferences/ com.apple.iPhoto.plist and move that file to the Trash. Launch iPhoto, and you should be returned to the main viewing mode. You'll have to go in the Preferences and reset them to your liking.
    Regards.

Instead of doing that take the url CURRENT_SERVER_URL(pre-definde BI Publsiher variable) by declaring like below
    <?param@begin:CURRENT_SERVER_URL?>
Then subsequently add the extra patameters eg. region like below
{$CURRENT_SERVER_URL}Data/Country.xdo&p_region={REGION} <- get this REGION value from XML
    Cheers,

  • Pages will only display the first page of text.

Pages will only display the first page of text. New pages are created as usual but blank and pages are visible through quick views. Reinstalling does not fix the problem, I don't know if it is an issue with settings. Pages v 4.1 on OS 10.7.4. Running on new macbook with retina.
This is apparently a retina issue. Update hopefully soon

You have not said but it sounds like you are using a Macbook pro with retina display.
Pages is exhibiting all sorts of problems with the Retina display which Apple is supposedly working on.

  • My home page is set to google & is always open, after i open new tabs to other web pages & then go back to the original home page tab it is frozen or if not frozen you try to do a search & it displays nothing (blank page white background)

If the above problem occurs I can open a new home(ie google) in a new tab & it works every time.
When original home page isnt frozen & will let you do a google search but displays blank you cannot return to the original page (ie using back button or home button).
When the page is frozen you can do nothing with it.
