  • Difference between google analytics and bc report?

    When I compare GA and BC, BC shows me more than double number of visitors and pageviews than google.
    For example June:
    Visitors/Pageviews
    BC: 1386/4087
    GA: 492/1647
    Thats so much difference, that I don't know which system I should trust. How can I interpret this data and how many visitors are visiting my site in reality?

    Hi,
    Our analytics work fundamentally differently like other services (Google, etc) so there can be discrepancies in the data between them.
    For example, Google Analytics counts a page visit as a 30 minute session. If the person is inactive for 31 minutes and then clicks again, it counts as 2 visits.
    As for BC individual visits are given a 1 hour session before they time out and are counted as a new visitor. Unique visitors are kept unique via a cookie for up to 1 year.
    Every time a user interacts with the site this is refreshed (so if you view a page once and then 30 minutes later, the timeout would not occur until 1hr 30 min after you viewed the page the first time).
    Google relies on JavaScript to record usage whilst BC does it each time it serves content. We use a number of methodologies to detect bots including user-agent string, repetitive hits from same IP or location amongst others. There's the reason why the numbers are different and cannot be compared. You can compare the results provided either by Business Catalyst for a long period or by Google Analytics, but not one method with the other.
    Whilst there may be differences in the exact number of reported visits (as Google Analytics and BC have different ‘count’ processes and Bot handling mechanism’s) the main use for visitor statistics should be to view trends over time, which you should find are similar between GA and BC reporting.
    If needing us to look into your report further please log a ticket and we'll advise.
    Hope this helps!

  • Directions for adding Google Analytics and Verifying Webmaster

    If you publish to mobile me:
    Here you go
    I have google analytics and webmaster tools now set up on my blog. I used Iweb Buddy to accomplish putting the google analytics on my site. Here are the steps.
    I publish my blog to mobile me but have my own domain name. http://decorateagarden.com/
    1. Set up an account at Google
    2. Go to analytics and add your blog
    3. This will give you a UA #
    4. Purchase and install something like Iweb Buddy
    5. Open Iweb Buddy and follow their instructions to add the UA# from google to Iweb Buddy
    6. Process your blog pages from Iweb Buddy as this puts the google analytics code on your blog. Note!, this is not the same thing as publishing you blog from Iweb. This is called processing and is done from Iweb Buddy right on your computer.
    7. Each time you publish an update on your site, you must also process that update on Iweb Buddy. You won't have to process the whole site--just the pages you published.
    To get your blog verified for Webmaster tools on Google for Iweb,( you have to be able to access your server and prove you own your Iweb site)
    1. Go to your account at Google
    2. Go to webmaster tools
    3. add your blog
    4. choose upload as html
    5. take the code it gives you---exactly---( I uploaded to a saved document file and removed the
    -1 my computer had attached to it and then copy and pasted it before I uploaded that code to my website folder in Idisk)
    6. put it in the sites folder for your site on your Idisk
    7. Go back to google and hit verify
    8. If it doesn't verify on google
    9. you entered the code wrong on Idisk
    I actually had to hit verify about 10 times to get it right. I kept entering the code wrong on Idisk but I am new to all this Iweb stuff.
    When it verifies, a new page on google loads.
    I hope this helps someone. Wishing you all the best with your sites.
    If anyone has a good way to index my whole site from my welcome page...I'd sure like to hear it. I mean without adding Google ads.

    I'm no longer publishing every page to Iweb buddy. Now that my google analytics code is picked up on my site---I just insert( the google analytics code) it into an html code on any any new pages I create right from Iweb and put it on my sidebar of those new pages and it works when I publish to mobile me. My pages are appearing in my google analytics just fine now on analytics. My site is appearing in Google search as it should.

  • How to remove ghostery, google analytics, and yahoo toolbar? thx.

    Question
    how to remove ghostery, google analytics, and yahoo toolbar? thx.

    Ghostery and the Yahoo toolbar are extensions.<br />
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Uninstalling%20add-ons#w_how-to-uninstall-extensions-and-themes
    Google analytics is a service for webmasters which collects statistics about usage of their websites. Not sure how that would affect website users - unless you installed a GA extension. If you got it, it can be uninstalled just like the other two extensions.

  • Google Analytics and Publishing Via FTP

    This may have been asked here before but, is there any way to ad google analytics to an iweb site that is published within iweb Via FTP? I haven't found any way to do it yet. Is there any way to do it with out using an external FTP program

    Hello and welcome.
    To add Analytics (assuming you already have the code from Google) you must publish your IWeb created site to a folder on your hard drive first.
    Use a tool like IWEB SEO TOOL (Here: http://www.ragesw.com/products/iweb-seo-tool.html) and after applying the code to all your HTML pages upload your website FTP.
    You will have to reapply the code everytime you make a change and republish your website.

  • What is google analytica and why does Firefox put it on my computer?

    Firefox has put google analytica on my browser. Why did you do that and how do I get it off?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

    There are pages that I try to log onto, such as when I go to gjsentinel.com and then click on any of their stories. It will blink the story briefly and then then the screen goes black and at the bottom of my window (Firefox) it continually says "Waiting for google-analytics.com" and just stays there. However, the address line at the top continues to say http://www.gjsentinel.com/ This does not happen when I use Safari.

  • WTF Is Google Analytics and why is it hangin up Firefox?

    On almost every site i visit recently the page will load for a second and then get redirected to a page that never loads. At the bottom of the browser is a message "waiting for google analytics. Has google gone mad? Had firefox gone off the deep end. This is the most annoying thing I have every encountered with firefox AND THERE HAVE BEEN PLENTY of things in the past to annoy me. Ive adjusted cookies I have done private browsing im at my wits end. WHY IS IT DOING THIS?
    == URL of affected sites ==
    http://

    See this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Analytics
    I just block that domain using NoScript. I don't care one way or another if websites collect statistics about my visits, but when that service noticeably slows web page loading for me it gets blocked. If they don't have enough servers or can't load balance their servers better to not cause slow downs, eff um - I will block that domain.
    As far as being re-directed, I have no ideas about that issue.

  • Why do Google Analytics and Sharepoint give difference in numbers?

    Hi all,
    We are using Google Analytics with our Sharepoint Intranet portal. Just recently we’ve decided to compare the numbers with the real server logs as the numbers from google where a little bit suspicions. After some data analyzing, it looks like the numbers are totally different, and my boss is not believing and numbers from google analytics now. The problem is that we are using google analytics on our website as well (hosted in different place and based on different CMS though), but because of the differences in Sharepoint my boss is questioning the numbers for the web as well! Is it possible that the Sharepoint here is the problem and google analytics is not working properly with it, because I don’t know – the way it is structured, caching servers, etc, not sure. Please, could you explain that a little bit to me if you had similar experience or might know what it works like that.
    Thank you very much in advance for your help.

     Google Analytics Tracking Code is executed (behind the scenes) in the client's browser and if that can access the Internet to register the hit on the Google Analytics server, GA should collect the Intranet traffic just fine. I can't see why the GA script will not fire if someone visits that page.
    If you have one HTML page with no images or external files called from it like stylesheets or javascript this will be one line on the IIS log each time it is loaded. If you have an HTML page with an external stylesheet and 3 images this will be logged on 5 lines in the log file each time the page is requested because you are requesting 5 files from the web server. Usually your statistics software will filter out all the requests for images, stylesheets and other files and just look at the pages that were loaded because we usually don’t care how many times the logo on each page was loaded.
    When you type in a URL to a specific page on a sub site that folder hierarchy and file doesnt really exist in the physical file system. What happens is the request is intercepted by SharePoint/WSS and routed to a DLL that renders the file from another location (a ghosted page) or renders the page from the SQL database (unghosted page). So your IIS logs are going to contain a whole lot of requests for DLLs like owssrv.dll.

  • Google Analytics and tracking unique downloads

    I have a resource page with .pdfs and .ppts
    What do I need to do to track if a user clicks on these links?
    Is there also an extra step I need to take to track if they successfully downloaded the target completely?
    I heard one solution is to make a single sub-web page for each download item and stick an analytics snippet in to the page as one way to track, but this sounds tedious and not very efficient. Is there something that can track this on the fly?
    Thanks!

    Here's a solution that may work. Just tried it today. May see results tomorrow.
    Get the Google analytics code.
    Open TextEdit and set it to plaintext.
    Paste the code WITHOUT these opening and closing tags :
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    // -->
    </script>
    Save the file as analytics.js
    Put the file on the server and determine the URL to it.
    Create a blank page (for testing) and paste this code in a HTML Snippet.
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    var headID = parent.document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0];
    var newScript = parent.document.createElement('script');
    newScript.type = 'text/javascript';
    newScript.src = '../js/analytics.js';
    headID.appendChild(newScript);
    // -->
    </script>
    Where it says *newScript.src = '../js/analytics.js';* use your own URL.
    Publish the page.
    Visit your page and open the Activity window in Safari (Comand-Option-A)
    Note the 2 URLs to Google. They look the same as with code that is pasted in a page.
    Tomorrow check with Google to see if your page appears in the stats.
    Call your friends and family and tell them to visit the page. More visitors may show more results.
    If it works, fine.
    If not, then I'm mistaken and will sob in a corner.

  • Firefox locks up when loading PDFs, Google Analytics and other sites

    I just recently upgraded to the latest version of Firefox on my PC running Windows 7. I have never had any problems running Firefox until now. When I want to play video, load PDFs, Google Analytics, etc. Firefox does not work properly. With videos the image locks up unless you constantly move the mouse over the video window the entire time. With PDFs the entire PDF locks up and you cannot search the document or browse the file (same problem with e-Catalogs, etc.) In Google Analytics the window constantly locks up and you cannot smoothly click around the site.

    Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.<br />
    You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
    Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

  • Google Analytics and iWeb

    I'm attempting to insert an html tag generated by Google Analytics into our website that is published using iWeb (the latest version, sorry, I'm no longer on site).  Can anyone help me?
    Thank you,
    Jeff

    Since this is your website, the path to the analytics.js file is not correct :
    http://www2.hawaii.edu/~kpauker/Pauker_Lab/People.html
    The line in the code where it says :
    newScript.src = '/js/analytics.js';
    should be in order of preference :
    newScript.src = '../../../js/analytics.js';
    Or :
    newScript.src = '/~kpauker/js/analytics.js';
    Or :
    newScript.src = 'http://www2.hawaii.edu/~kpauker/js/analytics.js';

  • IWeb and HTML (need to insert Google Analytics Codes

    I have published my iWeb site but do not use (.Mac).
    I am subscribed to Google Analytics and have a code which I managed to insert using Transmit.
    When I needed to alter my webpages, I lost all my HMTL codes and had to reapply them page by page (an arduous task as I have 40-odd pages!).
    How can I keep the codes in situ on the iWeb pages so that I can edit my iWeb pages and not have to keep putting them in everytime.
    Thanks

    You can't. But MassReplaceIt can make it a little easier for you.

  • How to send datas properly to Google Analytics (ANE-Google-Analytics)

    Hello,
    I meet a problem when I'm using the native extension created by Alessandro Bianco : ANE-Google-Analytics. I tested this code many times, in the context of AIR mobile application, but I tested it without any success to add new datas to Google Analytic history. I'm really connected to internet properly.

         I'm not sure exactly what your issue is, but I was unable to connect and looked at your code, modifying it for my purposes and it fixed my code. Hopefully it can help fix yours.
         I did notice one thing as I went through, however:
    You use
       var compteur:int = 0;

    The compteur does not match the counter variable. It appears a problem with Franglais is the issue here.
