Google calendar as Siri default

When I use Siri to make an calendar event, is it possible to have Google Calendar as my default calendar?

Hey there!
It sounds like you are wanting to use Siri to create new events using your Gmail calendar by default. You can set the default calendar in the iPhone Settings:
Several settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars affect Calendar and your calendar accounts. These include:
Default calendar for new events

  • Can't change the day, week, month display in Google Calendar

For the past week I haven't been able to change the display of Google Calendar. My default display is a month and that loads just fine. The buttons to change it to the next month, or to one day or one week don't work. Everything else works fine. I can add and edit events. I just upgraded to Firefox 17, but it was happening with Firefox 16.0.2 also. My Google calendar works fine in ME.

  • ICloud not accepting Google Calendar Invites

I am having problems accepting invites received from Google calendar in iCal on my iMac. Every time I recieve an invitation in Mail and try to add it to iCal, I receive the error below. The invite will be added to my calendar but will not sync back to iCloud and is eventually deleted from iCal on my iMac. The only way that I can get these invites to work is to accept them on either my iPad or my iPhone. Invitations that I create on my iMac sync to iCloud with no problems. How do I get this to work properly?

Same problem here.  iCal seems to completely ignore my default calendar setting.  I have yet to discern a pattern as to when it decides to use my default and when it decides to use my google calendar as the default.  I think that when I receive an invitation on my google email id, it decides to use the corresponding calendar.
I've turned off all of my auto-accept settings in both mac mail/ical and in google calendar.  So I now accept all of my invitations manually.  Every time I accept I have to go and open it to see what calendar it ended up on and change if necessary.  But then I get the error you reported.  And I then often end up with 2 entries.  One on my iCloud calendar and another on my google calendar which I can't delete.
Drives me crazy.  Next step, I think I'll try accepting all my invitations on my iPhone.

  • IPhone only syncs my primary Google calendar

My iPhone only seems to be syncing my primary google calendar but not the other ones I've created. Any suggestions? I tried using google sync and the exchange server but the issue persisted.

If you want to sync calendar events over the air with your Google calendar and when creating a new event on the iPhone it will be created and synced with your Google calendar automatically, you need to select your Google calendar as your default calendar, not your iCloud account calendar.

  • How do I get Siri to put appointments on iCal and not to Google Calendar?

When I give Siri the command to schedule appointment, the appointment is put on my google calendar and not my iCal. How do I change this?

See if you have selected your "iCal" calendar as your default calendar in settings (Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar).

  • When going from Gmail to google calendar I get an error message that the google is asking for a redirect that cannot complete. This works fine in IE, but not my beloved Firefox. I have the default cookie settings still in place

When looking at my gmail, I want to open google calendar, but get the above error message. Cookies are enabled, default settings are still I place. This works fine when I use IE. HELP!

  • My default google calendar keeps hiding itself

Since I got my iPhone 5 (and iOS 6) my default google calendar keeps hiding itself in spite of me manually selecting it to be shown with the rest of my google calendars in the Calendar app.  Seems like an iOS 6 bug.

Google Calendar and iOS 7 are certainly not incompatible. I've been using multiple Google calendars on my iPhone and 2 iPads since iOS 7 was released.
Have you restored your devices as new rather than from back up? If all else fails, you could always try using a different calendar app. Sunrise or Fantastical are both quite nice.

  • Can Icloud sync with google calendar and gmail?

We use google calendar at my office and share it with our staff. I thought we would be able to sync those calendars with icloud and google. Before icloud, I set up an exchange account on Ipad, iphone, imac and it works well for calendar and email.  I thought I could replace that sync with icloud, but it seems to not be designed that way. Should google calendar and gmail users stick with google?

    THANK YOU ithos!
I have searched and searched to try and find a way to sync my Google calendars with iCloud.
You don't exactly say how to make this happen, but you gave me enough nuggets to put it together.  Thank you for responding and helping me put it all together.
I have 5 Google calendars (Family, Work, Church, Extended Family Birthdays, US Holidays).  My wife, two different assistants and I all share and update the calendars.  I want all this to continue since it affects every aspect of my life.  I sit at a PC at work and need to be able to view all those calendars during the work week, I also need to be able to view and edit from work (pc), iPhone, wife's iPhone, assistants computers, and our home (mac).  So, staying Google - for now, is what I need.
I just upgraded to the 4S and Siri is one of the main reasons.  Without iCloud syncing with my calendars Siri is USELESS with calendaring stuff.  So, I have to have Siri able to view my calendars as well.
So, with that info, here's how I got it all to work.
For those of you who need a start to finish explanation, here it is:
    1. Computer running the OS Lion (mine's an iMac)
    2. Open iCal on the Mac
    3. Open your Google Calendar
    4. In iCal go to iCal --> Preferences --> Accounts.
Make sure iCloud is listed under Accounts.  This was my default, so I didn't have to make any changes.  If yours lists something different, sorry.  I don't know how to change it.  But I believe this is a KEY component as ithos above mentions that the subscription be 'located' on iCloud.
    5. In iCal go to Calendar --> Subscribe
This will force a pop up asking you for the URL of the calendar you are trying to subscribe to.
Where do you find this URL?    I found this article from 2006 that gives the low down:
    http://www.tuaw.com/2006/04/13/howto-subscribe-to-a-google-calendar-using-ical/
Don't worry, even though it's from 2006 it still works.  Here are the steps in a nutshell, but you should read the short article so you don't miss anything.
    6. In Google Calendar you need to dig into EACH calendar that you want to 'Subscribe to' and find the unique URL for that calendar.  This will allow you to then force iCal to look at and scrape the data from this calendar as often as every 5 minutes.  As you follow the articles steps (they are very easy) then your iCal calendar will populate with the Google calendar data from the calendar you subscribed to.  I had to do this for EACH calendar I wanted to show up on my iCal calendar.
    7.  I then grabbed my iPhone and asked Siri, "What does my day look like tomorrow?"  She responded with all my iCal / iCloud (which are all subscribed to my Google calendars) calendar data.  I smiled
This ONLY allows the Google info to be pushed to iCal / iCloud.  It doesn't allow the info to go the other way.
It won't let Siri manipulate the iCal/iCloud calendar or the Google calendar.  But at least Siri can see what's already there.  So, a step in the right direction.
    Good luck!

  • Multiple Google calendars on one account no longer sync with Palm Pre

Since the WebOS update in early Sept., the multiple Google Calendars that I own and which appeared on my Pre have disappeared.  I'm left only with the default account calendar.  The calendars which had appeared on the phone are still there in the pull-down menu on the upper right, so if I CREATE an event in a calendar on the phone, it's pushed to Google and then to my desktop calendar (iCal).  However, events which I create in different Google calendars are NOT pushed to my Pre.  This makes the Pre more than useless.  The best feature was Synergy and now it's broken.
I can work around by copying each event (I teach college and each subject's course calendar is listed publicly so that students can subscribe, and I can keep track of multiple subject due dates) to my default account.  That means that I have duplicate events listed in different calendars on Google, but only one event gets pushed to the Pre.  The other workaround is to use the browser to check my Google calendar, but it's not as convenient as using the calendar function of the phone.  And, where's the Synergy???
I really need a solution.  Before the update, the multiple Google calendar events all appeared on my phone and desktop and Google and I was very happy.  I hate this new situation.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Hello Sdswmr and welcome to the Palm forums.
I'm not seeing this issue on my Pre with webOS 1.4.5 installed.  If I create a calendar event, and select one of my other Google Calendars, that event is pushed to the correct calendar and I see it in Apple's iCal.  Similarly, if I create a new event in iCal, it shows up correctly on my Pre.
Have you tried removing all of your Google accounts and readding them?  What other troubleshooting have you done?

  • Pre Plus won't sync more than latest 3 months from Google Calendar. Need help.

[previously posted in WebOS Software section, but I now think that might have been the wrong place; only one reply; no answers]
I was a very happy owner of my new Pre Plus until I tried to sync my multi-year Google Calendar to my PP, when only the last three months of my GC data would sync to my PP.
Some higher level Palm techs and I spent quite a lot of time on the phone, trouble shooting and testing. Ulltimately, we were unable to solve the problem. The last tech I spoke with acknowledged that currently there are performance problems with the PP if a lot of GC data is downloaded.  Apparently Palm has decided (for now) to prevent us new PP owners from choking our PP's performance by limiting our initial downloads to only the most recent three months of GC data. I was told that Palm is working on this problem and it probably would be fixed with the next update.
I've searched the forum and didn't see any other mention of this problem.  Any one else experiencing this problem?
*** My questions:  Can someone at Palm tell me (1) Is this is a problem that is being worked on by Palm/Verizon?  (2) If so, should be fixed soon? (I only have about 10 days left in my 30 day trial of the PP at Verizon. If I can't have all of my GC data on my phone I will have to turn it back in before the trial period ends.)  (3) Can you suggest some other trouble shooting I could try? (4) Can you suggest a workaround?
(I can provide a somewhat comprehensive list of the trouble shooting already tried and my Service Request Number, if needed.)

The time period for syncing calendar events is a setting.
Go into Settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Scroll down to you get to Calendars.  Where it says Sync, you have an option to change how long you want to sync.
The Default is Events 1 Month Back, but you can choose All Events.

  • How do I add my gmail calendar to the default calendars list for reminders?

When I right click on a time/date in my mac mail message to add it to a calendar, it defaults to my home calendar.  As best as I can tell this is determined by the option for setting your default calendar for reminders in the preferences for iCal.  In my preferences for iCal I can set my main calendar preference to my gmail calendar, but I can not set the default calendar for reminders to my gmail calendar.  My gmail account shows up as grayed out and doesn't show any of my gmail calendars as options.  Is it possible to set reminders to my gmail calendar?  How?  Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi,
Google Calendars do not sync Reminders (what Google call Tasks) via CalDAV. That is why you cannot set up the default iCal Reminders list to the Google options.
    Best wishes

  • How do I get my iPhone calendar events to show up on my Google calendar?

I have an iPhone 4s. When I add a calendar event on my Google calendar it shows up fine on my iPhone calendar. I can delete that event on my iPhone calendar and it deletes it on my Google calendar so I know there's a "link." BUT, when I add an item on my iPhone calendar it doesn't show up on my Google calendar. I've tried waiting 15 minutes (the refresh time for Fetch) , and refreshing the calendar page but no luck.
    Help?
    DWM

That response would work save one detail: This is my work phone so I get meetings and such added via corporate email, etc. Those go by default to my iPhone calendar so I was hoping there was a way to just sync everything that ends up on my iPhone calendar to my Google calendar.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • Google calendar and iOS 8 - no longer synchronizing

Updated my iPhone 4s to iOS 8 and suddenly my gmail calendar is no longer synchronizing on the phone.  I've already done the restore to factory settings because after the upgrade to iOS 8, my phone lumped a bunch more files into "other" which weren't there prior to the upgrade.  I restored as new and added all my email accounts again and calendar is turned on for my gmail account.
On my MBP, my calendar is set up sans the email, and it's still all there, synchronizing perfectly.  Can't figure out what's up with the phone or why it won't work.  I've also removed the email account, re-added (for a grand total of two times) and nada.  Zip.  Zilch.  Calendar won't sync and phone will not acknowledge the gmail calendar when adding an event.
Anyone else having this problem?  I've used my work calendar on this phone for 2+ years without issue.
    Thanks,

i realize this is a naive question, but i've never had problems with iPhones syncing before. i just gave up my 4s with iOS 5 and now have an iPhone 6, iOS 8. Everything seemed to be working well since i got the phone in late November, until a couple of days ago, and now i'm having the problem raised in this discussion and a couple of others.
Starting a couple of days ago, i found that when i entered a new event in the iPhone calendar, it did not sync with iCal, or iCloud.  I also found that my iCloud storage was full, and eventually figured out that that was because my phone had automatically backed itself up to iCloud twice, at 2.4G each, which used up most of my 5G iCloud storage.  ??  I never had this problem before. So i thought maybe that's why the data stopped syncing. i deleted one of the backups and turned off 'back up' in the iCloud settings. But no success.
Then i discovered that Contacts were still syncing--if i entered a new contact on the iPhone, it showed up in iClound/iCal.  So only Calendar was not syncing.
Another member of these forums suggested i make sure that iCloud was set as my default calendar in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendar.
in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Calendars>Default Calendars, there are two default calendar headings. One is iCloud, and under that heading are 8 sub calendars (Home, Finance, Pets, Family, etc). The second heading is my gmail address which is my Apple ID, and under the heading there is one option, which is my gmail username.  That is checked as my default calendar.  There is no way to select iCloud as my default calendar. The heading is not selectable. If i want to choose an iCloud default calendar, my only choices are to pick one of the 8 sub calendars--which seems crazy to me. Why would i want to pick Pets, for example, to use as my default calendar? What's the point of having all those sub calendars?  i never used them as calendars. i just used them to color code the different categories.
Anyway, i experimented with changing my default calendar from my gmail username under my gmail address heading, to one of the sub-calendars under the iCloud heading.  At random, i chose the Home "calendar."  Its color is blue.
None of my entries of the past couple of days showed up.
In January, i had entered three dental appointments.   They did not have a color code because i had just used the gmail username as my default calendar. They were a sort of salmon color, apparently the default color of this calendar.  I changed one of the dental appointments to Home and voila, it showed up in January where it was supposed to be.
But how crazy is this?   iCloud is forcing me to choose one of these 8 sub calendars as my default calendar, so that all of my events, regardless of their correct category, becomes part of the one category i have been forced to choose?  What's the point of having 8 different choices if only one of them can sync with iCloud?
At this point, i have tried one suggestion here, toggling my gmail account calendar off and back on.  It didn't work  I guess i will now do a reset but i am hesitating because i'm afraid i will lose data and settings and will have to put a lot more time into trying to get it set back up. It IS the main account i use and i hate to mess with it or delete it.  Why is this happening?   Everything was fine until a couple of days ago.
I went to the link posted by gosleg above.  That was a dead end because at that link, under "Select Calendars to sync to your iPhone," it only has one choice under My Calendars, and the email address (account) it shows is not my gmail address.  this has been a confusing problem i've struggled with with Google for a long time.  Before there was gmail, my google account used my then main email address, which is a roadrunner address, which i still have but don't use much.  So that is the only "calendar" that is listed under My Calendars at gosleg's link.  The check box is checked and it's grayed out.  i can't uncheck it.
So i don't know if resetting my iPhone will even help with this.
i only know that with my 4s with iOS 5, everything worked correctly, effortlessly, easy, and after i updated to the new phone, everything worked fine for the first 3 weeks or so, and then suddenly i started having calendar problems.
    Calendar problems (possibly related):
    1. entries of events in Calendar don't sync to iCloud, though contacts do
    2. entries in Calendar show Greenwich Mean Time, it will enter both local time zone AND gmt, two entries on one day. Despite being set to use my local time zone in settings, it wants to make sure i know what the GMT is for all my entries.
    3. iOS forces me to have alerts for Calendar entries when i don't want any. Even though in settings i have default alert time set to none, and because it's set to none, when i am entering an event, i scroll down to alerts and can see it says None, when i click add to add the even, and then open the event back up, it shows an alert for 30 minutes.  It does this every time.  i have to turn it off.
When asked Apple about this bug, i was told i just needed to reset my iPhone.  I don't think i have ever reset any iPhone i have and it scares me.  I don't want to change it to factory settings, i don't want to have to go through everything and re-enter information. Do i risk losing anything?

  • Google calendars in ical over caldav go blank

Sometimes (roughly 1/3 weeks) my google calendar in iCal goes blank - all events vanish.
The events are still there when I look at the calendar online.
I have ~5000 events over several years.
I added the calendar via Callaboration.
    This is my default calendar.
I have 3 separate machines that use caldav to access the same google calendar and they both have the same problem but generally not at the same time.
    Can anyone please help?
    Thanks,
    Chris

Just out of interest what should he Calendar list be named as iCloud or @me.com.
It doesn't matter - you can name it whatever you want. It's purely a descriptive label, nothing more.
If you want to change it, just go into the Mail, Contacts & Calendars system preferences pane, select the account in the left panel, click Details... on the right and enter the new name in the Description field.
Also why when looking at File - New Calendar are both iCloud and my me.com account listed?
It does the same for me too. It seems to be a bug. iCal seems to be seeing your AppleID as an extra potential place to store calendars, although it doesn't actually do anything if you try.

  • Google calendar wont publish correctly

I guess no one cares that that publishing breaks the google calendar html code,
but i'm going to keep complaining until someone  acknowledges there is a problem.
here is my calender page in plan view of muse:
I made a separate page that had no content at all called Test.   as you can see it has all the color choices for multiple calendars,   weekly view and and all the calendar features that are in google.    The standard calendar view page,  called Weekly Lessons, has the same html code, and you can see the top part of the calendar and it has the same formatting as in google and Test page.   Test is not included in the menu,  but I put a button on the visitors page.  to link to the Test page.    the first time I previewed in the browser it looked ok.  but after I used it a couple of times it changed to the poor display features that are shown in the published web site.
THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY A BUG IN MUSE.  IT IS NOT THE HTML GOOGLE CODE, AND IT IS NOT ANY DESIGN OF MY PAGES AS  THE "Test"  page has no content except the html object.    so come on, Adobe,
this is a problem.  it used to work in other versions.  you have changed something that makes it break.
maybe it is ok in the CC version.   althought I have been in the muse beta program  for over a year,
I can't get access to  the CC trial.  and the 17'th is very near and i'll be upgrading at the stroke of midnight or when it  goes live.

I would be happy to send my *.must file to someone, anyone, but I can't attach a file and I don't have a normal

I would really like some help here please.    there is definitely a problem.   but I guess this is legacy code now.
maybe you could at least send me the link to get the cloud version to try.  I'm ready to go live with this site for a customer, and the lesson calendar is very important and has to work.
thank you in advance for your support

here is my latest info after investigating on google claendar support forum.
and mostly some dumb luck.    LOL  ..
posted on google calendar support forum:
i am using the html tool in google calendar to customize  calendar  and copy the updated HTML code  to imbed the calendar on a website.
i embed this calendar more than a year ago and it still works fine today.   it can be seen at
http://www.farandawayfarms.com/barn_calendar.html  this is a godaddy website with custom html code, but that is not relevant.
I am build a new website for the same customer , ready to go live except for a calendar display issue,
here is the same calendar on a new web site :
    http://farandawayfarms.businesscatalyst.com/weeklylessons.html
note that in the latter web page,  the formatting lost the week default, tabs, color assigned to calendars, and maybe some other little items.
I have spend weeks, getting new calendar html code, putting it into new html objects, new web pages,  blank web pages,
over and over again.  in adobe muse,  dreamweaver and plain pages, and also have been complaining to Adobe Muse support forum for several weeks about this formatting problem.
when working today,  I discovered that if I copy and paste the html code from google into my web  software ( Adobe Muse or Adobe Dreamweaver )  and then view the page in the browser view in the software,  or publish the whole site with the new code,
I get the correctly formatted calendar and all is good in the world.   As soon as I log out of  the google calendar account,
the correct formatting is lost and is defaulted to monthly view, no color,  no tabs and other problems.
I have repeated this trial,  a second and it is true. the calendar  exported HTML is Good, if I am logged in the google calendar , and it changes to some other views, features and not what I want after I log out of Google Calendar.   in order to fix it,
I have log back in to Google calendar, get the code, and paste it into the web development  tool all over again.
the odd part is that the web site I built a year ago always  displays the calendar OK.    so what is changed???
how do I fix this.   after weeks of wasted effort,  I"m very very sure that this is a Google BUG.
    PLEASE HELP ME.
thank you very much for  any help.
