Google Chrome Policy - disabled Simplepass extension

Yesterday, Google Chrome automatically disabled all extensions not available from their webstore on my PC.  This included simplepass extension.  It cannot be re-enabled.  Apparently this is a new policy change from google.
It was understood that they were going to block new extensions, but they made the policy effective to installed extensions as well.
Is there a known work around or is a solution in progess?
This question was solved.

Hello dvovthokie,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I apologize that your SimplePass extension is no longer working with Chrome. I am going to start off with some basic steps, first, as well as some theory I have that could help:
1. Uninstall your current version of HP SimplePass and install this one (even if it's the same)   : HP SimplePass Identity Protection Software Version 6.0.100.276
2. If that doesn't help:    (This one is more of a workaround than anything)
a) Go to Settings in Chrome. Look for the "Extensions" menu, and click on "Get more extensions".
b) In the Chrome Web Store, search for "SimplePass" and it should appear under Extensions. Click on "+ Free" to install it, then try using it.
3. You can try to reset Chrome to default settings: Reset browser settings
4. System Restore, just because time travel is sometimes useful: System Restore
5. Try the steps in an Incognito window (yes, I just suggested that). Incognito mode disables all extensions by default (at least it's supposed to). You can re-enable all extensions, including Website login ones.
6. Download and install an older version of Chrome, then try to get SimplePass and website login extensions working: Old Version of Google Chrome
If none of this helps, then I'm going to suggest some complex steps. This requires working in Developer Mode.
1. Go into Developer Mode through the Extensions menu.
2. Note the extension ID (For example, jilhkcaiaaepfiajaebpkmhonmfgabhf)
3. Go to C://Users/-name of user account-/AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/User/Data/Default/Extensions/-extension ID-/1.8 (or another number is you have a different number)
4. Copy that file path.
5. Go back to the Extension Menu of Chrome, and click on "Load unpacked extension...". Paste or search the above file path and hit Enter.
6. The extension should now be re-created and enabled (or able to be enable). You may need to restart the computer.
Please respond with your results of this troubleshooting. I want to crack this case for you

    In Google Chrome side:
    * Install LastPass extension on Google Chrome.

  • Google Chrome GPO extensions not working in Central Store.

Hi, I'm trying to get the Google Chrome GPO extensions to work in central store, I've copied the adml file to
\\dc01\SYSVOL\*domain name*\PolicyDefinitions\en-us and the admx file to
\\dc01\SYSVOL\*domain name*\PolicyDefinitions\ , like I've done with many other GPO extensions but when I create a new policy and open administrative templates the Chrome extensions aren't
    there.
Any ideas what my problem might be? I'm running a 2012R2 domain.
    Regards,
    Freyr

    It's working fine for me.
I just tried it on Win8.1u1 (local policydefinitions and GPedit), and on my virtual WS2012R2 DC (again using local policy definitions and GPMC) and again I created a CS on this virtual DC, copied the entire local policydefinitions folder content/structure
into SYSVOL to create a CS and every time the Google admin templates showed up just fine...
You are using the admx/adml files from here?
    https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/187202?rd=1
Edit:... wait... your CS path seems to be missing \policies\ ?
    e.g.: \\fqdn\sysvol\fqdn\policies\policydefinitions\

  • Flash keeps disabling when I reopen Google Chrome

Currently, on all 3 of my famillies home computers Adobe Flash does not work in Google Chrome.  They all have the same problem:
    Whenever I open Google Chrome, Adobe Flash Shockwave Flash 11.1 r31 is disabled. I go into chrome://plugins, click Enable (to which it shows that it was enabled);
Then close and reopen Google Chrome only to find that it does not run, and when I go back into plugins, it is again disabled.
I have tried clicking enable, then opening another tab to see if it enables flash without restarting chrome, and it still does not work.
This still happens, even when I disable all Extensions on Chrome.
Can someone help me get Flash to work in Chrome again.
Flash currently works fine in both Firefox and IE on my computers.

Flash should be enabled by default with Chrome (they include their own version.)  Have you modified your Flash settings in Chrome's plugin page?  The version you have listed appears old to me (mine is 11,1,102,62) and I'm using Chrome 17.0.963.56 m.

  • After upgrade to Mavericks 10.9.1 upgrade Google Chrome w/ Evernote extension cripples chrome

I just upgrade to 10.9.1 and now my Google Chrome browser is throwing frequent beachballs of death that sometimes tie up the browser for minutes at a time, and overall has cause the browser to become extremely unresponsive and slow.
For me, disabling the Evernote extension in the browser made the issues go away. I can't say for sure if the OS upgrade cause the problem or not. It's possible that it's purely coincidental but documenting the issue here in case anyone else encounters the same behavior.

Actually, the Evernote extension thing was just a coincidence.
It seems the real culprit is the firewire mixer connected to the laptop. After a reboot, I often have to shut the mixer off and then turn it back on before things start working properly.
Chrome is not the only software affected either. So far, I've discovered iTunes and Safari are also basically crippled after a reboot until I turn the mixer off.
Something is wrong with Maverick's implementation of FireWire, I'm afraid. I've written about cracking and popping noises I get from QuickTime when playing audio over FireWire.
    Something just ain't right.

  • UFT google chrome extension is 12* but installed UFT version is 11.53

    Hi,
I am using UFT 11.53 to test a website on Google chrome 32.0.1700.107 m
The automatic updates on GC were disabled via a tricky procedure (windows registers)
For an unkown reason the GC UFT extension got updated from 11.53.559.0 to 12.0.1008.0 ! the GC objects are no longer recognized !
Would you know how it got updated and if there is a way to revert the GC UFT extension back to 11.53.559.0 that matches the installed UFT version "11.53" ?
    Thanks,

Might be late but if you go to Chrome Settings, scroll down until you see Users, click Delete this user.
    That should fix your issue.

  • I just bought an ibook pro and want to download a browser like google chrome which I am familiar with. Safari just seems to be a lot of icons for shopping and I would like to disable it and put something more functional in its place. How do I ?

I thought I just posted this question but maybe not. I'm going from a PC to an iBook and am trying to customize it. Can I add a browser like google chrome or even foxfire and disable safari? Safari jst seems to be an app store. Thnaks

It sound like you did something wrong. Try another download and install.
    Download of Chrome
    https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95346?hl=en
    Direction to install
    Download the installer file
Open the file called "Google Chrome.dmg" after it's downloaded.
In the window that opens, drag the Chrome icon to the Application folder. This installs Chrome for all user accounts on your computer. Your home page settings and browser history will automatically be imported from your default browser. If you don't have administrative rights, drag the icon to a location on your computer where you do have rights, such as your Desktop. Chrome will only be installed for your user account.
The first time you open the browser, the Finder will ask you to confirm that you want to open the application downloaded from the Internet. Click Open to continue.
You'll see a message letting you know that you can search with Google directly from the address bar (also known as the omnibox). If you'd like to change yourdefault search engine, click Change.
Unmount the Google Chrome disk image on your Desktop by dragging it to the Eject icon in the Dock. (Make sure you're dragging the disk image and not the Google Chrome application icon.)

Message was edited by: July Z

I have the same problem for a couple of months, and I had to use a plug-in in Firefox to print a web page. I really need the web page address in the footer for reference purposes which Chrome print (Ctrl+P) does not produce.
The error message is: A supported version of Acrobat could not be found. Please install or update Acrobat to 11.0.9 or higher."
After updating to Acrobat 11.0.10 and repairing the installation the problem did not go away.
Deleting and re-installing the extension did not help either.

  • Google Chrome Create PDF extension (WCChromeExtn)

    Acrobat Pro 11.0.07
    Chrome Version 37.0.2062.103 m
    Windows 7
Problem: The Create PDF extension was here in Google Chrome and worked well. Recently sometimes it is not worked so I removed it (and was thinking that will re-install it) and hopefully it will work properly again. But nowhere I can find it or re-install it again.
    What I tried:
    - Re install Adbobe (completely uninstall Acrobat using Abode cleaner tool)
    - Re install Chrome
    - Re install Chrome then perform "repair acrobat installation"
    - Drag and drop WCChromeExtn.crx (from ...\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Browser\WCChromeExtn folder) file to chrome://extensions => Chrome says: "Attempted to downgrade extension" and not allowed it to be installed (also tried on developer mode/ load unpacked extension => no luck)
    Any suggestions?

Ok I tried uninstall chrome again and this time I selected "...delete browser data" and re-install it, the extension is here.
[(1) uninstall Chrome; (2) reinstall Chrome; (3) chose to repair acrobat; (4) reboot; (5) open chrome; (6) choose to enable Create PDF extension.]
but it is not working anymore (like before I removed the extension), click to it nothing happened (Firefox's is still working well)
