Google Chrome vs. Internet explorer

Any opinions on which is a better internet browser?  Internet explorer or Google chrome?

I am a Best Buy sales associate, what follows is my own opinion and not that of Best Buy.
I've been using different browsers for different things over the past few years. I got hooked on using Firefox when IE kept having difficulties ansd it was too...bland. I like Firefox because of the ability to customize how it appears and how it acts. If you do some digging around on the Mozilla community website, you can find tons of add-ons, extensions, themes and mods to keep almost any geek happy. My biggest complaint about Firefox is that I can;t seem to find out where to change what my default search engine is. I like using Google for almost everything, but it has me locked in to using Yahoo (yech!)
I also like using Chrome because i'm a Google fanatic. It just...works. I can sign in on the browser and my search history is there, imported from wherever else I've logged into Chrome. I also dig that I can  move where my tabs are to make my information more logical and easy to locate. I basically use Chrome like an OS in the cloud. Where in Windows I have several prorgams running in the taskbar, Chrome has them streamlined as tabs in my browser.
I've also used Safari, Opera, AOL ,Netscape (remember that one?), and find them pretty much interchangeable. The website code gurus are getting away from non-mainstream browsers, so I'll stick to my primaries of Firefox and Chrome. Okay, I'll use IE if I don;t have a choice.

Hi headshot, <br /> Sorry you are having problems.
Are you seeing any error message or notification ? <br />If so what ?
If the page fails to load try clearing Reloading with the Ctrl F5 shortcut to force loading without the old new cached files. If that does not help try cache and clearing cookies for that site.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.

To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.

  • Certain websites are garbled but are OK in Google Chrome and Internet Explorer

Some websites are garbled and hard to read. The same websites are displayed correctly with Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and the Opera Browser
Just open the URL below and the problem will be very evident

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause such issues.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

  • How can I get version 3 of Firefox. One web site that I need to use monthly hasn't upgraded their software & it doesn't work on Firefox, Google Chrome or Internet Explorer

Up until two months ago I was able to access this one web site (www.melaleuca.com). It is a site that I order from monthly. When I type the address in I get a screen saying "the connection was reset while the page was loading". I called their tech support & of course it's never their fault, it must be my computer! NOT! I go on financial trading and banking web sites that are super crypted, so it's not my computer. The tech support said that their web site only works with Firefox 3.0. I told them that was dumb! My other theory is that one of those insidious "upgrades" that Microsoft is always doing changed something, but they're never going to admit to it. I can access the web site on my iPhone, but that is tedious. Help!

I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your problem, but I wrote to them also to get back the old Firefox, where Google was there. I lost one of my toolbars with certain
bookmarks, this is a major headache. If you get any info. I would like it if you could let me know and I will do the same. [email protected]

  • When trying to click on firefox I get a message, firefox is already running, and asks me to close it. I have no other programs running. I cant even get firefox thru google chrome or internet explorer.

I recently upgraded to firefox 3.6, I think the inability to access firefox began after that. I`m worried that I may have lost my bookmarks.

This has been happening to me for months IN w &. It is REALLY ANNOYING.
MY WAy AROUND IT IS TO PRESS Ctrl,Alt,Del & select or start the
    Windows Taskmaster.
Select Processes Tab & scroll down until you find "firefox.exe" , select it & at the bottom select End Process. In the next window press on End Process & Firefox will be closeD. Get out of that & you will be able to start Firefox.
A bit messy but saves re-starting the computer.

  • Mozilla Firefox 7.0.1 is not loading web pages properly. It takes forever to load pages. Google Chrome and Internet Explorer load them rapidly. I have no spyware and disabled all addons. Nothing has worked. Any suggestions??

Web pages are taking an extremely long time to load. Sometimes they don't load at all. This is especially true with video sites like YouTube. I scanned my entire computer with Ad-Aware, Malwarebytes, Iobit Malware Fighter, SuperAntiSpyware, Windows Defender, Malicious Software Remover Tool, and Emisoft Anti-Malware. I did an anti-virus scan with Avast. I also ran CCleaner and Advanced System Care to clean all junk. Nothing is working.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Running about 7 tabs open at startup, this has always worked fine, here is the problem and the sequence of events leading up to hope. Any suggestions would be appreciated:
    Background:
Mozilla updated me to 7.0 automatically a few days ago, no problems
Yesterday they auto updated me to 7.0.1, now it won't connect
Scaled back to 3 tabs at start now it connects but after a minute of so, the icon in the tabs just spinning and it isn't connected
Scaled back to one tab the same thing
Reinstalled Firefox, disabled the Norton firewall to test, same thing
Checked the application setting on the firewall, it is set to allow or auto
I downloaded Firefox 8 beta same issue
Any suggestions would be appreciated, not sure it is foxfire or not but the upgrade to 7.0.1 started
Anyway to go back to a pre 7 release?
I disabled the add on and have the same problem.
    BTW IE 8 works fine.
    Thanks

  • I have found that Firefox has difficulty in handling certain types of photos, but when you look at them in Google Chrome or Internet Explorer they look alright. What happened in Firefox?

Check these photos in Firefox and then in some other browser:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/bjarkih/6134694726/in/photostream
I was waiting for this problem to disappear, but it hasn´t despite a few upgrades from you.

    Thank you!!

  • First direct link in google search causes "Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading"

I've disabled both the Adobe Reader Add-on and the Adobe PDF Link Helper to force IE 8 to open PDF's outside of the browser i.e in the stand alone reader application.
After doing this I did some testing, a google search for "test pdf" produces numerous direct links to pdf files.  If i click any of them it causes IE to display the message bar "Internet Explorer blocked this from downloading files to your computer, click her for options.."  When I click on the message bar, it appears to download the file , then nothing happens.  Next time I click the link it opens in the stand alone reader just fine and so do all PDF files, until the browser is restarted or a new tab is started.
This only seems to happen in IE8.  IE9 doesn't have the problem.
If I open a web page that has a link to a PDF that always work.
Help? I can't roll this out to prod.  Users will get very confused...

You actually trashed the whole Internet Preferences Folder including all your preferences still in there?
Actually, you were suppose to just trash the Internet Preference file/document which is inside the folder.
See if updating to the latest & last version of IE for Mac will help.
    Internet Explorer (Classic) 5.1.7
    Internet Explorer 5.1.7
    Internet Explorer v5.1.7
"WARNING:" Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31st, 2005, and is not providing any further security or performance updates.
Accordingly, as of January 31st, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac is no longer available for download from Microsoft.
Or, you can try the following w/your older version of IE:
Once a week Go into the system folder>preferences folder & trash the following preferences:
    finder
    ASLM
    PPC Registration Database
Cache.waf-found inside the MS Internet Cache folder
MRJ Cache folder-a new one will be recreated.(If not found go to System folder>Application Support>MRJ Cache folder-trash all you find inside-(DO NOT TRASH THIS FOLDER)
    Download Cache-found inside Explorer Folder
    Downloads.html-found inside Explorer Folder
    History.html-found inside Explorer Folder
Rebuild your desktop w/extensions off. Use Techtool Lite or Trash*Desktop - may delete Finder comments to rebuild your desktop w/extensions off. Does a better job than manually & you avoid all the finger gymnatics. You just have to hold down the shift key to shut off extensions.
Restart to turn the extensions back on again & empty the trash.
    Good luck!

  • Firefox is scaling down the photo sizes, along with chrome and internet explorer but Firefox's photos are usually smaller

I sell products on a site, along with other sellers, that is owned by someone else.
We have many sellers there. Some of us are having problems with how we are able to view the size of our photos taken of our products that are up for sale.
From seller to seller, we have different versions of Firefox that we are using. I have the newest Firefox, which I believe is 4.
I was having, like others who use 4, the same problem seeing smaller photos before I did the upgrade as well.
It seems to be the case for most of us who are having the problem, that Firefox photos scale down smaller than Internet Explorer and Chrome.
We have been told that this may be a browser issue as the site owners say they have not made any changes. At this point we are unsure since there are so many variations from seller to seller (keep in mind that some sellers are not seeing the photos scale down through their computer).
We have asked the site owners to look into this problem further. I also wanted to see what the Firefox community had to say. Do you think it may be a browser issue? We would greatly appreciate your input.
Below are some examples of photos that have been scaled down for the sellers who are seeing a problem with smaller photos while both in Firefox; all using different versions of Firefox:
One photo that was originally the size of 419px by 1, 007px is being seen by one seller to a scaled down size of 81px by 64px.
Another seller is viewing this same photo scaled down to 163px by 329px.
Another seller is able to view this photo as the original size it was intended to be, which is 419px by 1, 007px.
The above scenario has been the worst scaled down size we have heard of so far.
Typically a photo that is the size of 1, 000px by 930px has been scaled down to 420px by 391px.
There are other examples as to size, but you can see that the photos have been scaled down quite a bit.
You can see that it has been scaled down to less than half of the original size. This can pose a real problem for us depending on the type of product that is being photographed.
    Thank you!!

    Thank you!!

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off".

fire fox keeps not responding.I have the same problem with internet explorer and chrome.I have spent a fortine on pc systems repair but they have not cured the problem.I operate windows vista.my desk topis a Dell dimension c 521 IT IS 3 YEARS OLD.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
