Google Contact Birthdays

Currently I my 3GS iPhone is running the new iOS4 system. I've synced all of my Google contacts to my iPhone, everything seems to appear except for the birthday field in my iPhone. Is there a way to sync so that the birthdays appear in my contact list or do I have to manually enter all of my contacts birthday so that it appears in my phone + calendar?

Doesn't this happen to anyone? I tried it on my wife's phone, and it also has this bug. It happens on iOS only. Try creating an All-day event on October 19th. you'll notice that it spills over to the next day. and this bug has been around since at least iOS 6.
Here's another question: If nobody knows how to fix this, how can I file a bug report?
cheers!

  • Google Contacts' birthdays not showing up in Apple Contacts or Calendars

As a primarily Gmail-using guy, all of my calendars and contact information is stored with Google. All my Google Contacts are exactly the way I like them, with various information such as nicknames, birthdays, important dates (my anniversary), etc. I just bought an iPad Air 2 and proceeded to sync my Google information as described here: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/2753077?hl=en
All my contacts were successfully added. However, for all of my contacts that did not have a Google+ account, their birthdays, which I entered manually into my Google Contacts, were not synced. None of my contacts on my iPad have their birthdays, either in their contact card or the calendar, even though I explicitly have their birthdays in my Google Contacts on Gmail.
Is this a known issue? Is there a step I'm missing, and will I be forced to manually enter all these birthdays?

I think I found the culprit: birthdays in my Google Contacts that did not have a birth year did not sync, while those with years synced properly.
This is an issue, as admittedly, I do not know the birth years for many of my contacts (acquaintances and whatnot). It appears iOS forces you to have a year in order to add a birthday? Is this the case, or am I mistaken?

  • Issue with Google Contacts : birthdays not synching correctly

I have an issue with Google Contacts synchronising to my iPhone. For some reason, the birthday on the iPhone uses the previous day for displaying the birthday.
For example, if I put the birthday of December 30, 1987 for a contact using the online Google Contact manager, it will sync to my iPhone correctly as as December 30, 1987.
However, if I update the contact on my iPhone (change address, add website, change phone number...), the birthday jumps back in time 1 day (in our example it jumps back to December 29.
If I edit a contacts details on the iPhone both Birthday and Anniversary skip one day back in time after the Sync occurs. This will happen every time I edit the contacts details so if I start on e.g the 30th of Dec after one edit the date will be the 29 Dec then after another edit the date will be the 28th etc...
I can then edit the date(s) in Gmail Contacts and they will sync correctly back to my iPhone. Only when I edit a contact on the iPhone will the date(s) skip a day back.
The region of my iPhone is set to "Belgium"
Timezone is set to "set automatically"
How can I solve this conundrum?

Have you checked your time zone within your Google calendar settings? (http://www.google.com/calendar/) It's just an idea ...
I myself found several issues in syncing my contacts with Google (over the air via ActiveSync / Exchange on iOS4 as well as using the API within Address Book / iTunes) with truncated names (e.g. prefixes and suffixes) and re-arranged addresses (german scheme vs. US-scheme: post code, state) and can't recommend the Goole services for users outside the U.S.

  • Contact Birthday From Google doesn't show in Ipod Touch

Why the information of a contact birthday of google contacts is not transmitted to my Ipod Touch? Any suggestions?

I started to answer, and then backed away when I saw you were a Windows user. I use Mac and this may be a bit different for you. First, I assume you are syncing using iTunes.
    1) I make sure I can see the Google calendars I subscribe to in my iCal program. My understanding is that the iPod touch via iTunes will sync with Outlook's calendar. Maybe with others also. So, first thing to check is if you can see the Google calendar entries in your calendar on your Windows computer. If you cannot, you must fix that first.
If you can, you need to add those to the list of calendars to sync in iTunes. You plug in your iPod touch, select the touch in iTunes, go to the Info tab, and make sure the calendars you want to sync are selected.
That should do it the next time you sync.

  • Problem synchronizing contact birthday into the ca...

    Hi Nokia,
I have a problem synchronizing the contact birthday into the calendar
    Need help Please.
    //Abdou

I’ve had another look at this.
I was wrong about the birthday in the contact taking you to the most recent one; not sure what I did but it was finger trouble.
Unfortunately, it has just reiterated the original problem.
For example, there is a contact in my list with a birthdate of 3rd December, 1958.
The Birthday field in Google Contacts shows 3rd December 1958.
The Birthday field in N9 Contacts shows 4th December 1958.
When you open the Contact page to edit the individual fields and tap on the Birthday field, it takes you to December 1958 and highlights .... the 3rd!!
I clicked on the 3rd and then saved the changes to the Contact Birthday field in the N9 and it still showed the 4th.
I have had auto time update ‘ON’ and ‘OFF’ and I have changed the time zone in my phone from GMT+11 in increments to GMT-4 and nothing changes in the Birthday field.
It looks like the error lies in the birthday coding.

  • Contact Birthdays on Calendar

My 755P had all my contact birthdays on the calendar, but the Pre does not.  Is this a bug or a non-pre feature?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I manually loaded everything into my pre to just purge contacts and simply start the phone from scratch.  At this point I am not synching it with anything other than google.  My contacts are all on Palm profile, not on google.  The onlyu reason for google is calendar so I can see my wifes calendar and viceversa.  I wouldnt even know where to start with synergy.
So let me ask you, where and/or how does the birthday calendars show on teh phone.  Do they show on their own color like they did on the 755p?  Or do they show blue(Palm profile)

  • Sync Address Book with Google Contacts

    Hi,
recently I am syncing the Mac Address Book and my iPhone with Google Contacts.
If I add a birthday to one of my contacts on my iPhone, the birthday also will be added on Google Contacts. If I sync my Mac Address Book with Google Contacts now, the birthday doesn't show up on my Mac Address Book.
So my birthday calendar in iCal always is empty...
    Any solutions?
    Regards and thanks,

    Hi,
Google uses Google Sync to synchronize your contacts with your iOS and OS X. But this, from Jan 30, 2013, is only available to the paid versions of Google Apps (read more on http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2716936).
You can continue to sync on both iOS and OS X using the CardDAV protocol, which, IMHO, is even better.
Follow the instructions in this post: http://support.google.com/mail/answer/2753077?hl=en
Mountain Lion Contacts also supports CardDAV accounts. All you need to do is add the CardDAV account with your account credentials and it will synchronize again.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Ramses

  • Contact Birthday Date Sync Problem N9

    I have a Nokia N9.
I sync calendar and contacts with my Google Account via the MfE account on my N9.
    The Calendar entries work correctly.
However, the Birthday and Anniversary date entries for my contacts mis-sync by one calendar day.
For example, if a contact has a birthday on 10th November in my Google contacts, it displays as 11th November in my N9 Contacts list. Interestingly, if you 'click on' the birthday field from the Contacts entry, it will take you to the 10th November in the Calendar (that is, the correct date!).
The time zone in both Google and the phone are correct and set the same (Syd/Mel, GMT +11). The formats are the same (24hr Clock etc). There are no alarms set as reminders in either Google or the phone.
Anybody know how to make the phone sync the dates correctly? Thanks

  • Sync Contacts Birthday :: month becomes day, vice-versa

    Hi,
I'm using iPhone4 with iOS 4.3.3. I'm currently syncing my contacts with Google Contacts.
Time zone is GMT +8:00 Singapore.
What happens when I sync my contacts, the birthdays in Google will change the month to day & vice-versa.
    iPhone contact = 1 July 1980
    Google contact = 7 Jan 1980
    Anyway to solve this?
    Thanks.

It is possible to sync to multiple machines for different content. However, the content must be on different tabs.
example: You can sync calendars/contacts at work and music videos at home since they are on the Info and Music/Video tabs respectivly. You can not sync contacts at work and calendars at home since they are on the same tab (Info).
Here is the step by step to set up multiple machine syncing:
    1. Select "Disable automatic syncing for all iPhones" under Edit / Preferences / iPhone in the iTunes menu.
    2. Uncheck "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" in the Summary tab of iTunes.
    3. Check "Only sync checked items" in the same tab.
    4. On the computer you want to sync contacts and calendar, check the corresponding boxes in the Info tab. UNCHECK everything else in the MUSIC, PHOTOS, PODCASTS and VIDEO tabs.
    5. Sync your iPhone with this computer FIRST.
    6. On your other computer, follow the same steps above (1, 2 and 3). Then, UNCHECK everything in the INFO tab, and check everything else on the other tabs.
    7. When you sync with this second computer, you may get a message that the iPhone has already been synced with another computer, and that the media library will be deleted. Fine. There should be NO media library on the iPhone since you unchecked all the media items on the first computer, right?
    8. Sync. Then you can sync on both computers and each will sync what is checked and not overwrite the rest.

  • Same Apple ID forTwo iPhones but Sync Different Google Contacts?

We have two iPhones (4s and 3gs).  We want to be able to use the same Apple ID for both phones (so that we can share applications on both) but we want to sync to different contacts.  We want to sync one of the phones to Outlook and the other phone to Google Contacts.  Is this possible?  When we try to change to Google Contacts via the iTunes sync screen for that phone, it shows the warning: "Switching the sync provider will also affect iCloud and any other iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad that syncs with this user account.  Are you sure you want to switch the sync provider?"
Is there a way to make this work?  Thanks.

If you are asking can you have an Apple ID and an iCloud account then the answer is, yes. With iCloud it will  sync all your devices and computers. I'm not going to get into discussing rumours as that's frowned upon. Here's what Apple has published about iCloud Drive: https://www.apple.com/ca/ios/ios8/icloud-drive/

  • Z10 does not sync with Google contacts

I've had my Z10 for about a week and am trying to set it up. I am trying, and failing, to replace an Android device with this phone. I used the easy setup for "Email, calendar, and contacts" to link the phone to my gmail/google account. That account has two-step verification enabled and the setup program duly collected the verification code. All three accounts got set up and populated with the latest from google.
But ..... if I make a change via a web browser on my PC (an up-to-date Arch Linux system), those changes simply don't get picked up by the phone, even with the sync interval set to 5 minutes. This is not a matter of not waiting long enough. It's a matter of sync not working. The phone does pick up new email messages arriving and new calendar entries.
If I try to change the sync interval, after the 'save', I'm told that my login credentials were not correct. After one of those episodes, I deleted the 'contact' account and added a new one, this time using the caldev approach under 'advanced settings'. This behaves the same way (except that it requires an application-specific password from Google, rather than honoring the fact that I'd already supplied a valid two-step code). Contacts get loaded as part of the account setup, but no further sync-ing happens.
I've wasted almost an entire day on this. Googling reveals plenty of other people complaining of the same problem and over a two-year time period. You would think that Blackberry, now the 90-pound weakling in the mobile hardware business, would pay careful attention to making their software work correctly with the largest purveyor of email, calendar and contacts. But they haven't.
It's too bad, because this system has a lot to recommend it (I am a retired computer professional and spent almost 50 years of my life developing software and managing large and small software projects and I am confident that I know good stuff when I see it, and much of this system *is* good). But my primary requirement is that the phone be a good organizational tool and if it ignores changes to my contacts, it's useless to me and I will return it and stick with the less elegant, but more functional Android, unless someone has a bright idea for how to fix this.

Well, I tried a workaround: use Link to sync the phone to Outlook. I just want a way to edit contacts with a computer and sync them with the phone, and very occasionally go the other way when circumstances require. You know, like we did with Palms 20 years ago?
What I found was that sync-ing contacts 1 way from device to computer produced no contacts in Outlook. Just utterly frustrated, I called the place where I bought it to try to get some help, they were clueless (and trying to call Blackberry is a waste of time; they won't talk to you unless you have a paid support contract), and so I asked for and got an RMA # and return label.
But still thinking about this, I poked around in the phone and noticed the BBLink accounts for calendar and contacts and thought "can it be that this system, which provides a nicety like Hub, which gives you an integrated, chronological view of *all* your communications -- calls, texts, emails, etc. -- be only sync-ing the BBLink accounts, not the Google accounts?". This is correct, difficult as it is to believe. So I exported my contacts from Google, imported them to Outlook, and did a 1-way sync from the computer to the device, and, mirabile dictu, the contacts showed up in the phone. After about an hour and half. Further synchronizations, done after some cleanup of my contacts were also very slow, though not this slow, since few contacts were actually being transferred in these incremental synchs.
Whoever wrote the synchronization part of Link clearly doesn't understand the concept of complexity of algorithms. (S)he also clearly didn't test this code on a contact data set of any significant size. I have about 1800 contacts. I had about the same number many years ago when I had a Palm that would sync an order of magnitude faster than this Blackberry setup and do so on much slower hardware with a slower communications channel (a serial port).
I also found that two-way synchronization produced some very odd messages, such as telling me that essentially all the contacts were in conflict. I abandoned the idea very quickly of ever trying a two-way sync (again, standard practice with Palms).
Link is clearly a crock, but I think I've coerced it into doing what I need. I have until the end of January to decide whether to keep the Z10, and as I said in my original post, there's a lot I like about this phone. So I will use that time to see if I really have found a workaround for this ridiculous synchronization weak spot.
    Hello,
I`m glad you figured out a way to do what you need to do. I have red before some other people having issues with BB Link and Outlook. I never used Outlook - I prefer Google account, which for me has worked very well, regardless what phone I use. It is true, it can take some time to sync in everything but for me it never took days as others have said.
However, once the huge amount of data is synched to your phone, you don`t need to worry about further time consuming synching.
Are you saying that synching with Google *contacts* works for you? In the sense that after you have the phone loaded up with all your Google contacts, if you make a change to the contacts with a web browser that the change appears in the phone? And vice-versa? Neither of those cases work for me. One wrinkle: I use two-step verification on my Google account. Do you? I am very suspicious that two-step verification is the cause of my issue with contacts synchronization (though, as I said in my original post, email and calendar synch do work).

Namely because I can hardly use the phone, again google calender and google contacts won't sync.
Got it to work last time around, but things (espacialy with Nokia) change.
Can somebody, Please,  give me the page with the CORRECT instructrons? for the e7-00 and the N8?

Which all sync (nearly) hassle-free with all they want.
    Help

    Hi Gucky66,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum.
Please reset and update the phone to fix any software issues you're experiencing on both your E7 and N8.
Connect your phone to Nokia Suite and create a back up via Tools > Back up.
Now disconnect the phone from Nokia Suite and enter *#7370# and default security code 12345 into your phone. Once the phone has rebooted, please reconnect with Nokia Suite and click on the green arrow icon where you will be able to update the phone to it's latest software version. If no update is listed, please reinstall the current software. This option is displayed in blue.
When the updated has completed, please restore the back up via Restore > Back up.
You should now have a fully working phone. If you're still experiencing difficulties with your Email account, please delete the account and reconfigure, you can do this via Menu > Mail > Select the email account > Long press > Delete mailbox.
If the above doesn't work, please contact your local Care line where they will be able to look at your previous repairs and look for a solution.
Please get back to me if you manage to resolve the issue, otherwise I can provide further support.

  • Google Calendar and Google Contacts

On a previous Android phone (T-Mobile's G2), there were two apps, Google Calendar and Google Contacts. When I first got the Incredble 2 in June, I thought I remembered seeing a Google Calendar app, but now it is no longer there.
I'm interested in the Google Calendar app because I'm wondering if my syncing issues (see earlier post) is related to this? (Verizon's Calendar app is not syncing phone created events to my Google calendar).
    Thanks.

  • Google CONTACT sync with iCloud Contact sync?!

i am trying to finalize a sync of my contacts so that i have PHONE NUMBERS sorted in groups on my iPhone but i /also/ have email addresses to use in the autocomplete function in Mail on my phone.
if i don't have the Phone Numbers sorted into groups i will not be able to find anything and if i don't have emails in the autocomplete then i have to literally run a search in (what i have found to be a weak search function on the iPhone in Mail) then i have to find an email sent from this person, then i have to COPY the address than i have to paste it into an email.
i /currently/ have a sync using iCloud of my MOST IMPORTANT phone numbers and the "Previous Recipients" email data that i have run a applescript to get into AB/Contacts. So now the phone numbers and this Previous Recipients data is available to all devices.
i won't bore you with the details but i am finally uploading everything else (business cards etc, etc) to Google Contacts.
does anyone have any suggestions at this point as to whether i can ADD a sync with Google presumably by checking something in iTunes OR whether there is a way to add a GMail as a Microsoft Exchange Account?
