  • Google contact sync gets hung since 4.4.2 OTA android update

My S4 stopped completing Google contact syncs after the last Android update. All other Google tools complete the sync (App Data, Calendar, Drive, Gmail, etc), but the little arrow circle next to Sync Contacts stops spinning and gets hung. At the bottom of the screen, the Cancel Sync button stays on indefinitely.
    Eventually, this error message shows:
"Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly."
I've force stopped and Cleared Data on the "Contacts Storage" in Application Manager.
I've removed and re-added the Google account.
    I've done a factory reset.
I've done multiple combinations of the above 3.
Can you get me a quick fix, put me on a beta Lolipop, or revert me back to the previous stable build of Android?

I'm sorry you can't sync your e-mail accounts with your Galaxy since the update CoolGeorge. I would be extremely frustrated if my accounts weren't syncing. Let's get this fixed. When did you get the update on your phone? Do other apps sync on the phone? (Such as Facebook, Twitter, etc.) Please try removing the accounts from your phone, clear the memory, http://bit.ly/R0eeM7 , then restart the phone. Once this is completed, turn phone back on, download the accounts again, and try to sync. Let's see if this helps. Please keep us posted.

  • Google Contact Sync, causing randon duplicates.ugh!  Thoughts, Suggestions?

    Hey guys,
So I just discovered the new Google Contact sync in Address Book, and also own an iPhone. But so far, I have had MAJOR issues with this, and I've been struggling with this issue since last week. Luckily Time Machine has been saving my day.
Here's what's happening. Since I first started syncing, my contacts went from 271 to 289. When looking at contacts, it appears random contacts are being duplicated. I hear that there are chances where contacts can be duplicated, when they appear on the Google Most Contacted list, but non of which are being duplicated are in this list. And like I said they're random contacts being duplicated.
I guess the alternative to using Google Sync, is to use Spanning Sync 2.0 beta, but in that scenario, I was running into data being changed randomly in the cards.
So far the best sync has been .Mac naturally, but I use my own domain for email using Google Apps, so unless I forwarded that email to my .Mac account, I sort of need to get this sync working with Google Contacts and Address Book.
Any suggestions?? Thoughts?? Would love to hear what people are doing.

Same problem here, but happened on my first sync.

  • Google CONTACT sync with iCloud Contact sync?!

i am trying to finalize a sync of my contacts so that i have PHONE NUMBERS sorted in groups on my iPhone but i /also/ have email addresses to use in the autocomplete function in Mail on my phone.
if i don't have the Phone Numbers sorted into groups i will not be able to find anything and if i don't have emails in the autocomplete then i have to literally run a search in (what i have found to be a weak search function on the iPhone in Mail) then i have to find an email sent from this person, then i have to COPY the address than i have to paste it into an email.
i /currently/ have a sync using iCloud of my MOST IMPORTANT phone numbers and the "Previous Recipients" email data that i have run a applescript to get into AB/Contacts. So now the phone numbers and this Previous Recipients data is available to all devices.
i won't bore you with the details but i am finally uploading everything else (business cards etc, etc) to Google Contacts.
does anyone have any suggestions at this point as to whether i can ADD a sync with Google presumably by checking something in iTunes OR whether there is a way to add a GMail as a Microsoft Exchange Account?

SHOULD I JUST EXPORT MY CONTACTS/ADDRESS BOOK DATA and import it to Google and just do a Google sync?
CAN I DO BOTH SYNCS AT THE SAME TIME?
WILL THE GOOGLE DATA SHOW UP in autocomplete in MAIL on all my devices?
anyone done this in a way that works?!
    THANKS

    Preference -> Accounts
Under accounts you have your local On My Mac account, which Apple supplies the ability to sync with google and yahoo. Then there is no way to sync it with icloud. When you add your icloud account as well you just have 2 seperate address books in the same app, with no way to keep them in sync.
    Do you mean like this?
I don't seem to be having any issue adding an iCloud account to address book.

  • Google Contacts sync - Contacts created on phone not being sent to Google

    Hello,
I have setup my contacts with my Google account, and I can see all my Google contacts on my Z3 compact. If I create a contact in Google contacts, I will see it on my Z3.
However, if I create a contact on my mobile phone, it isn't being sent to Google. For the life of me, I can't see any options or setting to send new phone contacts to Google, either manually or automatically.
Shouldn't a sync work both ways? On my last phone this "just worked".
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

  • Google contact sync keeps thinking 25% of contacts have changed

    Hi --
I'm trying to configure my fiance's Macbook Air to sync her contacts with Google and keep getting messages about an unexpectedly large number of contacts being changed. To debug this, I've migrated the address book by hand, and am still getting there error.
Note that the Mac contacts are currently also synching with MobileMe.
Here is how I reproduced the weird behavior:
    1. Backup all contacts from both Address Book and Google contacts.
    2. Export all Address Book contacts to a group vcard file.
    3. Delete all contacts from Google contacts.
    4. Import the vcard file from step 2 into Google contacts.
    5. Configure Address Book to sync with Google contacts.
    6. Select Sync Now from the sync menu.
After a few minutes, a dialog box pops up saying that this sync operation with Google will change more than 25% of my contacts. By my reasoning, there should be no changes since I just uploaded the identical address book by hand. Am I doing something obviously wrong here?
    Thanks!

  • Google Contacts sync fails

I would like to sync my Apple Contacts with my Google Contacts. The Contacts app includes a preference to do just that which seems to use ISyncManager to do that. ISync puts an icon on my Apple Menu Bar with an option to "Sync Now". When I click that icon I get the following message:
    3/23/13 gconsync[300]: [0x7fde8a409c40] |ISyncManager|Warning| Could not retrieve ISyncClient with id com.apple.Keychain!
The sync never occurs. I've gone into Keychain Access and made sure that GoogleContactSyncService allows non-restricted access. No change. I've also reset the SyncServices folder using:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync .pl full
    Still no change.
I assume others would like to sync these contacts. I'm thinking now it has something to do with the fact my contacts are managed in iCloud. Even so the sync should work.
    Any advice and guidance appreciated.

The built-in help for Contacts has this to say:
Important: If you’re syncing contacts with Google Contacts and you add an iCloud account, Google syncing is turned off. It’s recommended to keep it turned off while using the iCloud Contacts service.

  • N9 and Google contacts sync issue (via MfE)

    Hi,
When syncing my Google contacts using a mail for exchange account I've come across a small problem. The problem is that only one phone number of the same type is being synced. I.e. if I have two mobile phone numbers for a contact then only the first one will be synced to my N9.
Is there a solution for this or does the N9 software need an update?

Hello. Have you tried disabling the internet connection and check if you'll see "not up-to-date" under the email? An error message will appear. Just hit 'close'. This should direct you to the settings of the email.
Now, check that all the settings are correct:
If yes, hit on the check mark. We hope this helps.

  • Is "address layout" preserved in MobileMe or Google Contacts Sync?

I want to sync Mac Address Book entries with Google Contacts.
For many of my addresses I have set the "Change Address Format" option in Address Book to match the country of that specific contact, e.g. address format/layout changed to "United Kingdom" for friends in London, etc.
    • Is this country information preserved in the sync with Google Contacts?
    • If NOT, is it left alone when syncing back to the Mac?
(In a MobileMe sync, ALL addresses are reset to "United States" address layout when uploaded to MobileMe; since this is recognised as a change, these are all synced back to your Mac with US address layout!)

My Address Book is also not syncing with Google. I ticked Synchronize with Google, entered my username and password, closed the Preferences window and nothing happened. I reopened Address Book to see if it would start syncing, but nothing happened again. After that I tried entering a new contact into Address Book to see if it would sync to Google Contacts. It didn't. On the other hand, my iPhone has no problem syncing with Google Contacts.
What gives? Why put an option if it doesn't work? Is there a solution, a trick?

  • IPhone OS 3.0 iTunes Google Contacts Sync Problem

I used to sync my Google Contacts to my iPhone 3G via iTunes. Then I found out about Google Mobile Sync and decided to try it. Tried it, but didn't like some of the limitations. So I disabled it and started syncing Contacts via iTunes again. After a while I noticed that my contacts were no longer updating with my Google Account. At some point I upgraded to OS 3.0, but I'm not certain if this problem was occurring before the upgrade, or after the upgrade.
My problem at this point is that I can't sync with Google Contacts via iTunes at all. I have tried the following:
    * Checked the option to overwrite the contacts on the phone
    * Deleted sync history and backup
    * Re-install iTunes
    * Upgrade to the latest version (iTunes 8.2.1 released today)
    * Reset my device
I still can't sync with Google Contacts.

Confirmed on IOS firewall, had to add the "save-password" option to the config under "*crypto isakmp client configuration group ######*"
It appears that earlier that earlier versions of the VPN client on iPhone OS builds prior to 3.0 did not enforce this.
After updateing the VPN config on the router i disconnected and reconnected, was prompted twice for the password and job done! No longer asked for the password every time!

    Hi,
In this case we can try to reload the software on the BlackBerry smartphone to make sure it is running the latest version and there are no issues with the OS.
To do this we would need to back up the BlackBerry smartphone. Please open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and connect your BlackBerry smartphone. Click on the Backup and Restore button and select Back Up. Please note the location where the backup is being saved as we will need to access it later to restore the BlackBerry smartphone.
Once you have backed up your BlackBerry smartphone please follow the link below to complete a clean reload of the BlackBerry smartphone software.

  • Outlook Iphone Google Contacts Sync

I would like to sync my contacts to Outlook the same way I currently use Nuevasync. I am happy to try another service to get this going. Currently nuevasync sync's my google, iphone and outlook calender.. Looking at it though I can only push sync my iPhone and Google contacts... the current system will not sync with my local Outlook.
I am trialing the Apple .ME service but have no need for the online storage space or other features.. Ideas anyone?

Would using google apps's to sync between outlook and google then use nuevasync to sych to Google work?

  • Google contact sync

I'm trying to sync my contacts with Google. I turned on "synchronize with Google" in address book, and used "Sync now" in the iSync menu. I then expected my contacts to show up in Google, but nothing happens. None of my address book shows up in Google contacts. What do I do wrong?

I did not have any issues setting up my iPhone 3GS (v3.0) with Gmail Sync. But I could not get contacts to sync on my son's iPod Touch (v2.2.1). The calendar (including the shared Family calendar) worked, on the iPod, from the get-go. Adding/deletion of events worked perfect! I played around and finally got the contacts to sync on the iPod (Step 3 below).
    1. Setup Gmail Sync using the instructions at http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138740&topic=14252)
    2. Ensure that you setup the calendars you want to sync using the instructions at http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=139206. Essentially, you need to go to http://m.google.com/sync, login to your account and select the calendars you want to sync.
This should resolve your calendar sync. If it does not delete ONLY the "Contacts Calendar" account from "Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars" and re-start with Step 1.
    3. If your calendar is syncing but your contacts do not sync, try the step below.
Log in to your Gmail account on your Mac/PC, select the "Contacts" link. Select the contacts you want to sync and click the "Add to My Contacts" or "Move to My Contacts". Ensure that you have wi-fi connectivity, select "Contacts" on your iPod and it should start syncing.
Post if these instructions work for you. Best of Luck!

  • Google Contact Sync - Unwanted Changes

Often I will find that a contact either will suddenly have a different phone number from one day to the next always matching the phone number of another contact.  This happens while using the Gmail Contact Sync built-in to BIS.  For example:
    Day 1
John Smith with a mobile number of 123-456-7890.
Jack Jones with a mobile number of 555-555-5555.
    Day 2
John Smith has a mobile number of 555-555-5555.
Jack Jones has a mobile number of 555-555-5555.
This change will happen with no intervention on my part in either Google Contacts or on my phone.  John Smiths' old number will be lost (or worse, moved to a third contact unknown to me).
The result has been phone calls and text messages meant for one person going to another person entirely and unexpectedly.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Is there a way to send feedback that this is happening and have it fixed?  Or anything I can do on my end to have this not happen any longer?  It is getting to be quite a problem.
    Thanks,
    Robert

  • Google Contacts Sync - Syncs ALL Contacts...

iTunes offers the option to use Google for syncing contacts. I logged into Google and trimmed down my contacts list some, then proceeded to sync.
I was surprised to find out that this synced ALL of Google contacts, including the "Suggested Contacts" list - a list compiled by Google, which consists of anyone I have ever replied to.
I suddenly had hundreds of random contacts.
Does restore from backup include Contacts?
