Google Custom Search opens blank page

I have a Wordpress site. I installed Google Custom Search on my website.
In all browsers except Firefox it opens a blank page.
How can i fix this?

The first error would indicate a problem with one of the Google scripts.

It looks that this callback isn't working with Firefox (the apiary862 part can vary):
*https://www<i></i>.googleapis<i></i>.com/customsearch/v1element?key=AIzaSyCVAXiUzRYsML1Pv6RwSG1gunmMikTzQqY&rsz=filtered_cse&num=10&hl=en&prettyPrint=false&source=gcsc&gss=.com&sig=9e22f16779b322c4438bf7968124f7f9&cx=004659255641490361228:mv_18qspja4&q=homeless%20myths&sort=&googlehost=www<i></i>.google<i></i>.com&callback=google.search.Search.apiary862
I don't know that much about JavaScript to know how to troubleshoot this and this happens in all Firefox versions that I tried, so it could be a compatibility issue in Firefox with this Google script.

  • Google Custom Search on Iweb page

Thanks in advance for your advice!
Has anyone had any luck having google custom search work on a iweb homepage? If I have it search non-iweb sites it works fine. But when I try to use it to search my iweb page it fails. Is there something about iweb pages that makes them unsearchable?

  • How can I remove google custom search bar from about:newtab page

When I open Firefox or a new tab I have it set to about:newtab which is great and all. Just recently I noticed a Google search bar on the new tab page though, that it immediately sets my cursor to. I prefer typing in the normal address bar at top. If I don't think to take that extra tedious step to click on the address bar before typing it opens to Google Custom Search Engine. Which does not have the images, maps, etc tabs along top. Making a simple task of researching something or other purpose just that much more annoying to do, because I'll have to type into the address bar anyways.
So I was hoping there is a way to remove this annoying Google Custom Search Bar from my about:newtab?
Or at the least make my cursor start in the address bar, not the Google Custom Search Bar.

  • How to make Google custom search results appear on a new page?

Anybody got any idea how to make the search results appear on a separate page? I'm using the Google custom search to get generated code to place on my pages, after providing some 'guidance' information on the look and feel of it. Normally, Google will provide you with a few options to choose from to determine how your results will look and by default one would choose the "two page" option whilst going thru the setup process. One page for the search box on your own page and one for the results page.
However, if you don't want a 'google-generated' results page but want the layout that's in line with the look of your site AND have the search box already on there for any repeat searches it becomes more tricky. I tried doing it one way, which I found one a blog tutorial but so far no sucess. The 'search box' code that I inserted onto one of my pages to test didn't show up the search box at all in preview or the live page...
Anybody got any generic code that can be adapted (that they know works) or know of any tutorial that explains how to achieve this? Preferably Google related, as I'm using its custom search.
In addition, I believe that recently Google have deprecated the use of iframe in its search results pages so for anybody that was using an earlier version of this facility it may no longer work properly and hence the solution might have to be modified. Not an expert, so not sure how much this fact will affect the final code, just a thought.
Any ideas/solutions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

hello adrianm12, this should be possible through the metro settings ("search"). also see [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=941292 bug 941292]...

  • Google Custom Search not rendering, any ideas?

Can anyone tell me why embedded HTML code for Custom Search supplied by Google wouldn't be rendering in the Muse in-app "Preview" or when previewing in the browser? There's no trace of it. Have tried pasting code directly and as a HTML object. Help anyone?
I would have assumed it was a compatibility issue, but it should work without a problem according to the following blog post:
    http://www.muse-themes.com/blogs/news/7722357-embedding-a-search-bar-in-adobe-muse-google- custom-search

I started from this page: http://monarchhousing.org/search-our-site/
On the results page, which has no results visible, Firefox records this script error in the browser console:
TypeError: google.search.Search.apiary3244 is not a function
    file: https://www.googleapis''.''com/customsearch/v1element
    line: 2
After reloading the page, the function name changes:
TypeError: google.search.Search.apiary9727 is not a function
    file: https://www.googleapis''.''com/customsearch/v1element
    line: 2
I gather this is a randomly named function (makes it harder to search...). I can't figure out how this script file is called. Google has made it very complicated to debug. I suggest trying Google's support forum here:

  • How do I get rid of Google Custom Search as my default search?

Every time I start FF it has Google Custom Search in the location bar search box. I have delete it multiple times, but the next time I start FF, it is back in the box. I want Bing as my primary search engine. How do I get rid of the Google Custom Search???
Also, how do I get rid of that CouponNetwork Coupon Activator? I have looked for it to delete the file, but can't find it. How do I get rid of it??
    Thanks

That page didn't & has not worked. I have gone through & deleted all the search engines except Bing, probably 15-20 times. When I restart FF Google Custom Search is back in the list & is displayed in the seach box, even though Bing is listed first or the only one in the management section & supposed to be the default.
On the Coupon Activator, that is what I thought also, but it is not listed on the Add/Remove program. I have even done a search on my drive for that filename, but it can't be found.
Any other ideas for both problems???
    Thanks

  • Get rid of Google Custom Search

Address and search bar do 'google custom search'. This is pretty much useless. I CANNOT get rid of it. I want NORMAL GOOGLE. About:config settings do NOT change this.

Starting with Firefox 23 the keyword.URL pref is no longer supported and it is no longer possible to specify the search engine for the location bar that way.
The search engine that is used on the location bar and on the about:home page is the search engine that is selected in the search Bar on the Navigation Toolbar.
You can install the Keyword Search extension to specify with search engine to use for the location bar and which search engine to use for the about:home page via the Options/Preferences windows of this extension, accessible via the about:addons page.

I try to access a mobile site m.yamaha-motor.co.id using my BB Curve 8900, everythings seems OK, but I found out that one element inside this website can't load, then I try to access the same site using Opera Mini and it's working nicely.
This element using Google Custom Search, is there some thing wrong with my device / browser?
Any advise would be appreciated. Thx.

  • Google Custom Search on my .Mac webpage

    Hi
I put a HTML snippet from Google's Custom Search in my iWeb page but do not get any results.
I read about registering the .Mac pages in the Google search index in other posts. Is this also needed for the Custom Search?
    Thanks,
    Tim

Well....sort of.  If you start Safari and have a designated home page there are a few problems.  For example, I needed to do a fast search this morning and here's how it worked:
    1. Open laptop, awakening it from slumber.
    2. Open Safari.
    3. Safari attempts to load home page.
    4. I attempt to delete home page URL so I can type in my search.
    5. HP (home page) URL re-pops into box eradicating the search I'd begun to type in.
    6. I attempt a delete/re-enter again and same thing happens again.
The third attempt was the charm, but it's extremely frustrating when you need to get a search started *NOW* and can't because, by golly! We aren't allowing that nasty, useful, non-obtrusive search bar to mess up a pristine desk top.  Yikes.  You'd think the whole "Save As" fiasco would've taught a valuable lesson or three.

  • How to use Custom Search in Dynamic Page or HTML Portlet ?

    Gurus,
    1. I have a tab called My Space in the portal web site, where user gets a personalized view of the content.
    2. I am using custom attributes and custom item types. I have a custom attribute called 'Location', which is a attribute of custom item types.
    3. I have 2 pages - News and Events.
    4. All the content in News and Events page is tagged by the attribute 'Location'.
    5. The requirement is to let the user search the News and Events by Location.
    6. To achieve this I used the Custom Search portlet and the user can select the attribute Location and see the resultant News and Event items by location in the Search portlet.
    7. The requirement is to present the News items and Event items in separate regions on the page and show only the first 5 News and Event items in the result and show a More link which would guide the user to rest of the News and Event items.
    8. Eventually there may be more content other than News and Events tagged by location. If so, the requirement is to create a new region and display the new content.
    9. How would I do this using custom search ? I was thinking if there is anyway I could use the custom search api (where can i find it ?) in the HTML portlet or Dynamic page and submit the result to IFRAMES in each region and show the output ?
    Pls advise.
    Thanx a bunch.

I would suggest that you use two custom search portlets; one for the news items and one for the events items. Switch the custom search portlets to "AutoQuery" mode and add the relevant criteria. On the results display tab of the the "edit defaults" screen, choose to show just 5 items.
To add a link to show the user mode results, I'd create two new pages that have just a single custom search portlet on it that is customised to show more of the results and maybe has the pagination links enabled.
Then I'd add two "Page Link" items underneath the two news and events portlets on the first page in an item region.
I'm sure there are other ways of doing this as well. Hope that helps to get you started.
