Google Earth Signal 11 crash

Hey everyone, I'm getting the issue outlined in this thread:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=161677
I've tried all the solutions listed - I don't actually have a ~/.drirc file, and I've tried renaming /etc/fonts/conf.d/65-fonts-persian.conf file.
Is there anything more I can do to make this work? I've had this issue for a VERY long time now, and at first I just thought it was Google messing up. But as more people come along saying it now works, I'm starting to wonder!
Searching for the issue only returned the fixes posted in that thread, so I've not tried anything else to fix it as I don't know what I can do!

I could (And do) But I still think it's worth mentioning the #7 issue (And getting it fixed if at all possible!)

  • OS X causes Google Earth to crash.  Would appreciate some solution.

I just downloaded Mavericks and found immediately that Google Earth would crash as soon as I typed anything into the search bar or clicked on history.  Tried several times to down load Google Earth again but each time the same issue occurred.  Would appreciate some solution if there is one.  Many thanks.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Google earth keeps crashing at start up.

My google earth keeps crashing at start up. I don't know what the problem is and I don't know how to delete all of my old kmz files. Ive tried deleting and re-installing and it still brings up my old files.
    Help please?

I had what sounds like the same problem - my habit is to install software from an Admin account that I only use for that, and work in a different Standard account, but apparently the Google installer didn't set file owner/permissions right to accomodate that (not the first time I've run into this).
I promoted my usual user account to Admin, re-installed from that account, demoted back to Standard, and now all is fine. Performance is good, limited only as far as I can tell by my cable modem and/or Airport bit rate.

  • [SOLVED] Google Earth signal 11 again

I'm getting the now infamous 'signal 11' error when trying to run Google Earth.
I've tried the suggestions in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=114992 with no luck and also reinstalling GE and all its dependencies.
Does anyone have any more ideas I can try?
System is i686 with nvidia graphics.  Crash log is at http://pastebin.com/W4X4AgXd
    Many thanks,

I was caught out by "GE has caught signal 11" a couple of days ago (using nouveau driver with nvidia hardware). I don't have any .drirc or dri file (as mentioned in old thread 114992). However, I copied librarian.launchpad.net/7037027/libGL.so.1 into the directory /opt/google/earth/free/, and this got GE working, although the video quality wasn't so good. Then I installed ia32-libs in my copy of debian in virtualbox, then copied /usr/lib32/libGL.so.1.2 from there, as libGL.so.1, back to arch to replace the one from launchpad.net. GE is now working perfectly.
I don't really understand any of the above. This is my 2nd installation, on a separate drive, but otherwise using the same hardware as the first, which was done using the official media. This one is from releng.archlinux.org, 2012/04/10_04, netinstall, x86_64. On the first, I couldn't get alsa to work and had to use oss for sound. With this one, alsa worked out the box, which is very nice. However, in addition to this google earth thing, I had significant trouble configuring an automatic wireless connection, and a problem with my samba server.
    Oops - I had failed to install lib32-nouveau-dri !!!

  • Why does Google Earth search crash with 10.8.5?

Everytime I try a search using Google Earth, Google Earth crashes. It worked fine before updating the OS. I've tried reloading Google Earth, all to no avail.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Why Does Google Earth Keep Crashing On My iPad 3?

Are other users of the iPad 3 having problems with Google Earth crashing while it's loading?  Mine seems to fritz out when loading a lot of 3D info, like for a large city like New York.  I've tried to research if this is a common problem with iPad 3 users, but I have found very little about other people having the same issue.  My iPad 3 is brand new, with the latest iOS.  I have done all the resetting I can to the iPad -- soft restart, hard restart, delete/reinstall app.  No good.  Still crashes.  The only thing I haven't done is a full restore -- and I don't see doing all that for one app that is not working.  Everything else on the iPad is working just fine.  And I did complain to the developer.  It works great on my Macs and iPhone, just seems to hate my iPad.  Can anyone tell me something useful to make this app work?

I have the exact same problem on my ipad mini. It says 'google earth is running low on memory' and crashes.

    Any idea? Thanks.

I solved (in part) this issue due to a comment on the page google-earth AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/goog … mments=all
    The comment is (unedited):
    "Comment by hutou
    2015-04-12 20:08
On Arch64, a standard install from AUR succeeded, but GE crashed on startup (error = "unknown graphic card")
I then recompiled the package with _64=1 : GE did launch, but 2 issues remained : no panoramio and search not working.
The first can be solved by installing the packages freeimage and libpng15, and then recompiling the package google-earth with the variables _64 and _attempt_fix set to 1 in the PKGBUILD.
The second issue is related to the decimal separator of some locales (fr for me), and is easily solved by inserting the line
    export LC_NUMERIC=en_US.UTF-8
    just before the line
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH=.:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH ./googleearth-bin "$@"
    in the file /opt/google/earth/free/googleearth
This worked for me : GE works fine, no crashes."
I said that I solved in part because I received only the following error when I run google-earth in terminal (but Google Earth seems to run ok - I didn't do so many tests):
[0610/212239:ERROR:net_util.cc(2195)] Not implemented reached in bool net::HaveOnlyLoopbackAddresses()
    [0610/212239:WARNING:backend_impl.cc(1875)] Destroying invalid entry.
[0610/212240:ERROR:nss_ocsp.cc(581)] No URLRequestContext for OCSP handler.
Still looking forward for a solution without errors.

  • [SOLVED] Google Earth doesn't work with xf86-video-ati

    Hi all,
I'm having a problem with the open-source ATI drivers.  I haven't had much luck finding out anything from anywhere else, so I'm hoping someone here can help.
Whenever I start Google Earth, the graphics run EXTREMELY slowly, almost as if it's running on a system with low memory.  I'm running an Acer Extensa 4420 with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core 64-bit processor with 2GB of RAM.  As mentioned before, I'm running on the open-source xf86-video-ati drivers, but this is the only app that gives me problems.  GL screensavers run fine, and glxgears runs without any significant input.  Running Google Earth in terminal also gives no output.
And I'm not sure if this is related, but closing Google Earth also crashes X.
    Here's xorg.conf:

I had the same problem (slow googleearth) with ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility U1 (IGP 320m).
This .drirc solves it. I don't have an xorg.conf.
    - no need for the 'disable_lowimpact_fallback' option
    - no need to turn off 'atmosphere'
    cat .drirc

  • Google-earth

hello, i have a single question, why google-earth 64 bits can be opened only in one of my two computers? I don't know why google-earth of 64 bits can be opened by one computer and the other not, the only thing is that first i installed the 32 version and after the 64 bits version in the pc which not function but... does it import? and there are other differences like the computer that can open google earth has intel and intel gma graphics and the pc which can not open has an amd
    could someone help me?
I know that i can try the 32 version in the pc, this version function normal but is like a bug? like an error of me? it's something confusing

these are the outputs of this
    [agm97@Agm28011997 ~]$ pacman -Q google-earth
    google-earth 7.1.4.1529-1
    [agm97@Agm28011997 ~]$ uname -a
    Linux Agm28011997 4.0.5-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Jun 6 18:37:49 CEST 2015 x86_64 GNU/Linux
and these are the outputs when I tried to run the app in terminal
[0611/221211:ERROR:net_util.cc(2195)] Not implemented reached in bool net::HaveOnlyLoopbackAddresses()
Google Earth has caught signal 11.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but Google Earth has crashed.
This is a bug in the program, and should never happen under normal

when I said that the application not open is that is open a image with google earth opening but it crashs without entry in the application, in the 32 bits app in the same pc not crash and in other pc with arch the app can be opened in 32 bits and 64 bits, for this i am asking, because it's a little confusing that a pc with arch can open a program and other pc not, and this isn't because of the recurses because the pc which can't open the program is much better
and this is the output of the txt

  • Google earth crashing[SOLVED]

The current AUR PKGBUILD doesn't run on this system.  I have an ati x200m using opensource drivers (radeon).  I installed an older package 5.0.xx and I get less errors but it still crashes.  I am guessing this is a video issue, but whatever it is I can't google a way to fix it.  Any suggestions?
Failed to load "/opt/google-earth/libevll.so" because "/opt/google-earth/libevll.so: undefined symbol: gluNewTess"
EDIT: I've also rebuilt with this version - google-earth-5.1.3535.3218-1, I am getting the same error message.
EDIT SOLVED: I needed to install freeglut.  This was not necessary on my desktop because I am using nvidia drivers.

I have a mac book pro running Lion 10.7.4 and every time I use Google Earth The computer crashes by lowering a black curtain and then asking me to hold the power button down until it closes and press the power button again to restart it. Can I fix this? It bugs me when I'm looking at real estate.

I really don't have an answer for that one. I guess that while trying to get things working correctly, I would use the most basic monitor I had which in your case would be the Eizon using the Thunderbolt port and adaptor.
When you boot into Safe Mode the startup is quite slow, but you should get the Apple logo and then the spinning gear below it (release the SHIFT key when it appears.) Then after a little more time you should see a gray progress bar appear below the spinning gear. When that disappears the computer will startup to a login screen.

  • Google Earth low on memory and crashing

I'm using an ipad Air with maximum storage and latest iOS. Google Earth, previously a reliable app, is now consistently reporting low in memory and quickly crashing when in Stree View.
I've tried rebooting with no change.
Groan. I see Safari is still not working properly when composing messages here. Seems worse than last iOS version. Autocorrect not reliable and my KB shortcuts no longer work, e.g. To enter my Sig. And those misplaced caps...

    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down together until you see the Apple Logo.
Note: Data will not be affected.
    (B) Close all apps in the multi-task window
    1.Double-click the Home button.
    2. Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
    3. Preview will fly off the screen.

  • Update of Google Earth 4.3 Continually Crashes before opening...

I just update the Google Earth from 4.2 to 4.3....upon trying to open it, it crashes every time I attempt to do this...??
    Any input from You?

    HI Robert,
Try deleting the Google preference file: com.Google.GoogleEarthPlus.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, locate that file, drag it to the Trash, empty the Trash and reboot.
Try to launch Google Earth now.. If that doesn't help try this:
If you can't log in to Google Earth, you'll need to delete these files from your directory folder. Please follow these steps to delete 'dbCache.dat' and 'dbCache.dat.index':
From the Finder, open the Home Directory icon labeled with your user ID.
Select Library > Caches > Google Earth.
    Look for the 'dbCache.dat' files.
Ctrl-click on both the 'dbCache.dat' and 'dbCache.dat.index' files and select Move to Trash to delete these files.
These files will be regenerated the next time you log in to Google Earth.
I found the last tip here at Google Help: http://earth.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=77769
    Hope something works!
