Google Gears & Safari 4 - When will it work correctly?

Does anybody have an idea about when Safari 4 is going to support Google Gears?
After looking on the Google gears users groups here:
http://code.google.com/p/gears/issues/detail?id=847
the Google engineers say that Google Gears can't be made to work under Safari 4... so it sounds like this is an issue with Safari 4 and not Gears.
This is a bit of a headache for me. I'm aware of the mailplane hack to fix this issue, but I was wondering when we might expect a "proper" fix to this issue.

I just raised this politely, again, via the Report Bugs.
I doubt anyone from Apple will bother to respond, even giving a rough idea as to our future Google App usability on Macs, as they never do ?!
...did someone mention iWork and/or iWork.com and the lack of interoperability with either MS Office formats (half the document formatting still gets lost when saving a .pages as a .doc; so what's the use of using iWork to start with!?) or even the nice and open ODF formats (nope, only the TextEdit app does basic functions with that; word processing only, of course, no spreadsheets or presentations) ..... mmm, not so nice-one Apple

TS3999 when will iCloud work with outlook 2013?

when will iCloud work with outlook 2013?

I have been running Outlook 2013 for a couple of weeks now using W8 64bit.
It works with iCloud and is a little flakey, what I've found.
1. 4 X Junk Folders.
2. Some emails cannot be moved into saved folder, saying message has changed, but opening in outlook safe
mode allows move.
3. Sent Items (this computer only) and Sent Messages, so you have to move emails from Sent Items to Sent
Messages if you want them to sync across devices.
4. Icloud control panel say's there is a problem and not syncing but it is no problem.
I can live with the bugs, but I wish the last icloud update would have corrected the issues.

yes, that is exactly what mine did too. I noticed that something is wrong after receiving calls and did not hear anything.

The white borders around your images are created because they're embedded in links. Add the following to your style sheet:

border: none;
The problem with the table row at the bottom is this:

The colspan attribute takes the number of columns that you're spanning, not a number of pixels. Judging from the rest of the table, it should be colspan="7".

Epubs from InDesign. When will they work?

More of an observation, than a question.
All our books are now on epub format, and we are discontinuing paper books. Paper is too much trouble, and epub sales are doing well.
However - and it is a big however.
We are using an epub translating company, because InDesign will not output complex epubs, and we do not understand epubs.   But we are losing control of the quality of the books, because we are having to edit and make changes with some guy in India who does not understand book layouts or what we are trying to do. Thus everything is two steps forwards, and one step back, just to get a simple change done.
So when will InDesign be able to output complex epubs? (ie, different fonts, load of images, lots of in-line hieroglyphs, videos, audios etc: etc:)     And I don't mean outputting by: check this, change that, do this, change this HTML to that HTML    ---   I mean "click for epub output" the same as I "click for a PDF output". Done, instant.
I give Adobe due warning here.    The first company that comes out with a publishing suite that will output complex epubs, we will change to them in an instant.   We have been with Adobe for 20 years, but we cannot go on editing books 5,000 miles away, it is like editing with boxing gloves on.   You cannot even highlight an error in 'paragraph three on page 487'   -   BECAUSE THERE ARE NO PAGES.   (Grrrr)
Come on, Adobe. Do something, or InDesign will only have three customers in five years time.

The developer chooses the sizes and positions of the images, whether the text flows past images, the relative sizes of the text, the type of font, the italisation or boldness of fonts, whether the Greek and Hebrew fonts are presented correctly (as images!), the positions of hieroglyps in the text, the justification of headings and text, lines and line-spacing, the indentation of text etc: etc: etc: etc:
The developer can and will destroy the presentation and layout of a book in one easy move - and sorting out these many problems and errors at arms length, with someone who knows nothing about literature or publishing, is a nightmare of biblical proportions.

Yes, and if Apple and Kindle had chosed PDFs as the standard file type for ebooks, there would be no problems. We can control the layout of a PDF through InDesign, and the iPad will display a PDF book exactly as we design it - INCLUDING ALL OUR STRANGE FONTS AND HIEROGLYPS.   A pdf is the perfect solution, and there is only one small problem with this ebook Nirvana - both Apple and Kindle will not sell straight PDFs.....
As an aside, why the hell cannot epub display strange fonts, when pdf can? Why is this basic function such an insurmountable problem?

We don't care if epubs are flowable or resizeable (PDFs are also rezieable, you just increase the magnification). In fact, a well-made epub book is quite a good platform for reading books (except it is crap at tabbing and tables).
What we do care about, is that if I say to InDesign - 'make epub' -   it will not translate Greek or Hebrew fonts, it sticks the hieroglips from chapter 3 into chapter 4, it puts page numbers into a flowable text, it cannot understand indents, tables or italisation, it left justifies center justified text, and then to add insult to injury it center justifies left justified text. It cannot understand superscript references, it will not link to references to the references section, it cannot flow text around images, all the images are the wrong size, it does not even realise that you have cropped an image, and it turns bold text into underline text.
In short, the epub translator within InDesign (and most other packages) is a joke.   If epub translation worked (and I have to say that most of these errors are easily fixable) we would have no problem with epub as the industry standard for ebooks. But at present, it looks like the major tablet producers have chosen the turkey (epub) instead of the eagle (pdf).    Just because Kindle chose a reflowable text, to fit on its microscopic tablet, why did Apple follow suit? An iPad will easily display a 234 x 156 pdf page (royal format), in all its glory.

When will FF4 work with Windows Live Writer?

Windows Live wrote an F extension "Blog This" that worked fine with v306 FF.
Any idea when it might work on v4 of FF?

I've not had a single problem with Windows Live Writer working with Firefox 3.16 or 4.0b12. I'm using 32bit XP Professional. That might make a difference.

When will hondalink work with ios8 and 8.2 in honda car?

I have a 2014 honda accord v6 with nav and all the bluetooth stuff. My iphone5 with ios7 works fine with hondalink in the car,but I am afraid to update to ios8.2 because Honda sent me an email that said the iphone 6 and new ios8 will not work in my car. Anyone have this problem and know the solution?

I have a 2014 Honda Accord Sport and an iPhone 5S with iOS 8.1.2. I am having similar issues with my phone connecting to my car. Basically, my recent calls haven't updated in a few months and my Pandora app no longer works via the Pandora screen in my car (still works through the "bluetooth" screen, however).
The dealership where I purchased my car and get maintenance done explained that this is a common issue with iOS. After doing some research on my own I learned that if you do a "soft" reset (hold down the home and power button at the same time) the problem may be resolved. I plan to try it out and see if it does the trick.

I have all my $HOME on an NFS Server. So long I used suse and debian, now I want switch to arch but the nfs-client ist not working correctly:
I start "portmap nfslock nfsd netfs" over rc.conf. When I do a "rpcinfo -p <ip-arch-system>" I got the following

The Problem ist solved.
I use ldap for authentication. During the setup of the ldapclient I copied the nsswitch.ldap to nsswitch.conf. But the line for "hosts:" was:
hosts: dns ldap
but in my dns ist no localhost entry. After I changed this line to:
hosts: files dns ldap
everything was ok. The statd is now running and I can start to migrate to archlinux ;-)

When will Firefox work with Windows 8.1

Everything I have read on the internet tells me I should avoid downloading and installing Firefox, as it doesn't appear as though it will work with Windows 8.1. Additionally, I read that Mozilla has plans to release, sometime in March 2014, a version of Firefox that will work with my system. Problem is, when? When can I know that it is safe to download and install Firefox? I miss it and although Internet Explorer is greatly improved over past versions, I still prefer Firefox as a default browser. There are features that IE doesn't have and probably never will. Features that I can only get in Firefox. So.......................I am patiently waiting.

March 18 is the next release date, for Firefox 28.
