Win Vista ultimate SP2 FF 4.0

Thanks to jscher and cor-el I now have the Google home page that I wanted.
I was not blocking gstatic.com or ssl.gstatic.com
I looked at:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Website_colors_are_wrong
I think items 2 and 3 fixed my problem. item 2 is the stronger candidate.
My attempt to improve the display for my old eyes - contrast and font size was not very successful.
I Checked these four items carefully from "website colors are wong.
1 (Firefox) View -> Page Style should not be set to "No Style"
Page style was set to wiki
2 "Tools -> Options -> Content -> Colors" check "Allow pages to use their own colors, instead of my selections above"
This item was NOT checked. It is now checked.
3 (Windows users) Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Accessibility -> Display -> uncheck "Use High Contrast", restart the application
This item was checked. I un- checked it. I think this fixed the problem.
4 (Windows users) Right-click the Firefox shortcut -> Properties -> Compatibility -> uncheck "Run in 256 colors", restart the application
This item was not checked.

  • Google home page will not display but everything else works (bookmarks, etc)

When I start FF, the page says server was reset before loading complete, yet my other system does just fine with same version of FF.
Just started last night and haven't gone to malicious website as they are blocked by Avast well and no emails came in.
    Even reinstalled FF.
    Please advise.
    Thanks everyone.

FYI for everyone. Found that if your homepage does not come up and you get "Server reset while page was loading" and can't get it to change, then disable all plugins and restart Firefox. Home page should come up.
Now Firefox comes up fine. Will check other issue on cookies not deleting.

  • How do I get a Google home page up and customize it to suit time, calendar etc.

I used to click on a shortcut icon on my desktop and get a Google screen customised to give me daily jokes, calendar, weather, time of day and a selected golf wallpaper. I downloaded incredimail and this wiped out the lot.
How do I restore the settings my original setup ???

What you see in 5.0 is going to be around for awhile, it is unlikely there will be major changes to the interface for Firefox 6 or Firefox 7. Since Firefox is customizable you can make it look very much like 3.6.18 about the only difference you would see is silhouette icons instead of color. I think you would find it quicker and more satisfying to make the customizations to Fx5 and be current than to back to Fx3. You can check out the before and after pictures in Step #1 of the following -- the colors on the toolbar are for me to identify which profile I'm using.
You can make Firefox '''Firefox 5.0''' look like Firefox 3.6.18, see numbered items 1-10 in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 5.0, or 4.0.1, look like 3.6)].
    '''Research your extensions''',
You might also find addition information on the extension's add-on page, some may have updates, some solutions may be found in the developer comments or user comments on the add-on, or on the "'''View all versions'''" link which is part of the '''Release notes''' at the bottom of the add-on page where you may find a compatible version available that is waiting for approval.
You can force 5.0 "compatibility" with the "[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ Compatibility Reporter]" extension, or with [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Extensions.checkCompatibility extensions.checkCompatibility] using about:config
One of the nice things about having extensions is that you can disable them and still use Firefox, disabled extensions will still get update notices. Or maybe use another extension until the one you want is fixed or works for you.
For those that really need an earlier version of Firefox, find your system and the Firefox version you want in releases, download and start the install.
    * ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/
:or with the latest of version 3
    * http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older.html
: Note Mac OS X 10.4 user, and Mac OS X 10.5 users without Intel cannot upgrade to Firefox 4 or 5.
Firefox 4 is end of life it was just a platform so work could continue on Firefox 5 without updates to 4 (there was one update).
When reinstalling Firefox from a download, Firefox must be down once the installation starts. When the installation finishes, don't let the install start firefox for you. Instead end the install and start Firefox in your normal manner, thus preventing creating a new profile which does not have your bookmarks cookies, etc (but your old profile would still be around and would).

  • I have received an email from a friend with a link which I clicked. It directed me to the google home page and I am now suspicious that it is a virus  or a Trojan horse. I would know what to do on my PC but am new to Ipad. How can I check?

I have received an email from a friend with a link which I clicked. It took me to the google home page. I am now suspicious that my friend's email account has been hijacked and the link contained a virus or a Trojan horse. I would know what to do on my PC but am new to the IPad. Can any form of Trojan horse be planted on IOS 6 or am I worrying unnecessarily? Reassurance would be most welcome as I do use the IPad for checking bank details and web purchases. Thanks for any help.

PC virus won't run on iPad.

  • Clicking a search result from search bar goole seaech, always opening google home page but only can open search in new tab by middle click, really frustrating.

Whenever i am clicking search result from Google search bar, it always opens the Google home page. I can only open search result in new tab by double clicking. It started when i installed Firefox 12.

@mstm, please ensure that you write some thing in search bar before you click search icon. without entering anything will redirect to google.com. And make sure that you are clicking on search icon not home icon.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Have Firefox home page set for Google search, but each following tab opens w/Yahoo search instead. How do I remove the Yahoo and have Google home page on every tab????

As I said above: I Have Firefox browser home page set for Google search, but each following tab (but suddenly now it) opens w/Yahoo search instead. How do I remove the Yahoo search off the added tabs and have Google home page/ blank tab (like it used to be) on every tab????

The new Firefox Start Page - '''about:home''' - isn't the same homepage that was used in earlier versions of Firefox - http://www.google.com/firefox There is no "setting" for the "Search Container" on the about:home "page" - in the Options UI or in about:config .
Set that old "Mozilla Firefox Start Page" as your "homepage". <br />
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
Or open your Profile folder and delete the '''webappsstore.sqlite''' file and hope the "Search Container" on the about:home "page" returns to Google. When it '''''is''''' Google, the Google logo appears to the left of the "Search Container"; when the search engine there has been changed to something else, there is no logo to the left of the "Search Container" - AFAIK.

  • Google home page in Html

Hi everybody, this is kinda trivial, but some how i cannot view my I pod touch, the "google" home page in Html.
I have been able to do this in the past, but now when i load google, it load in the "mobile" format.
I have tried clearing, history, cookies, cache, but this does not help
Also typing into any search engine for google.com or google .co.uk, it always defaults onto the googlw wed address but like
    google.co.uk/m
    Can anyone advise
    cheers
    tom

This change appears to have just happened - I saw the mobile page for the first time today.
    It's very irritating.
However, being Google with all its might and wisdom, I imagine the quality of the page will improve as they continue to develop it. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a touch/iPhone-specific cool custom page based on Apple's web API before long.

  • Signing into Google home page requires me to empty Firefox cache and cookies and restart Firefox. Any way to avoid this?

When I sign into my home page (Google), I often get a blank page. I then have to empty the Firefox cache and cookies, restart Firefox, and then when I go to the Google home page, I have to sign in with my ID and password. I have checked the box that says keep me signed in. This does not happen with Safari.
I am running a Mac with OS Lion.

  • Each page I navigate to comes up as the google home page or a google error message.

Each time I try to navigate to a new page, firefox either takes me to google home page or gives me a google error message. I have removed the software and reloaded it. I have cleared the cache and the cookies.

Go to Settings-Safari and Clear History and Clear Cookies and Data.
Another thing you can try is to double-click the Home button.  A row of recent Apps will line up along the bottom of the screen.  Scroll across and find the Safari icon.  Press on it for a couple of seconds until it starts to wiggle.  A red minus sign will appear on each icon.  Press on Safari's minus sign to remove it.  This may clear its memory of the bad Google page.
If this does not help, try resetting (rebooting) the iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.
