Google Mail Account in Mail5 on Lion?

How can i install Google Mail Account in Mail5 on Lion?
I have Lion and Mail5. Will install IMAP Account from Google Mail. But they dont Work

Do you have the IMAP server turned on within the GMail account itself? It is not something that GMail has turned on by default; you must go into your GMail settings on the GMail site to do.
I won't bore you or anyone with the steps on how to do that. Google has very direct instructions on how to turn on their IMAP through their own Help web pages. Once you have turned on the IMAP interface on Gmail's end, it's just a simple matter of going into Lion's "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" System Preferences applet and supplying your Gmail account's credentials. The applet will take over from there and add Gmail goodies to your Mail 5 and iCal.

  • Missing my Google mail account on my Mac

I have MobileMe as my main email account, which syncs between my Mac and iPhone. I also have a Google Mail account, which I decided to setup on my iPhone. The problem is, after syncing my devices by MobileMe AND physically connecting the devices via cable, the Google Mail account do NOT show on my Mac??!! I remember setting this up before and the Google Mail account automatically appeared on my Mac, I removed it after a while, but now have decided to set it up again, using the same process, but this time, it is not setting up automatically on my Mac? Also, I changed the name of my MobileMe account on my iPhone, but the change has not been passed to my Mac via either MobileMe OR sync. What is going on? I know these things are done automatically when you sync devices, because it has worked for me in the past with no problem. Can someone shed some light on my problems? Thanks for your help guys!

Sorry, but you didn't do this. Doing what you are wanting is not supported - never has been supported and is not possible.
The point for this option is most people are accessing their email account or accounts with an email client on their computer - people have been doing this long before the iPhone. The option for email accounts under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences is for transferring email account settings for a selected email account or accounts from a supported application or email client on your computer to the iPhone's Mail application if you don't want to manually create the account or accounts on your iPhone. This is not a sync process. This is a one way data transfer only for selected email account settings from the Mail.app on your Mac to the iPhone's Mail application.
If your Gmail account was set up with the Mail.app on your Mac, what was the point for deleting the account on your Mac? You could have disabled the account without deleting the account from the Mail.app.
If you want to access your Gmail account with the Mail.app on your Mac, you need to manually create the account with the Mail.app on your Mac. If this is pointless and a waste of time, don't do it. Your first post in this thread was done 25 minutes ago. To create an email account with the Mail.app shouldn't take you longer than a minute or two.

  • Why can't I add Google Mail account since upgrading to ios8.3?

Tryinh to add Google Mail account to iPhone 5c with ios8.3
it asks for email and password sign in and then goes back to the add account page.

If you have two-step verification turned on for your email account, you'll have to get instructions from your provider on how to set up your account on a mobile device.

  • I have two google mail accounts, one is work, one is home. I prefer to keep things separate. On my iPad, formerly had no problem checking each account. Now when I log into either account, my poor iPad acts like its spinning its head.

I have two google email accounts - one is personal, the other professional. I like them being separate. Until a few days ago, my ipad could pull up either account I needed at the time. Now, though, when I try to pull up either account after signing in, the line above the blue line (sorry I'm new to this and don't know the terms) switches rapidly between the two account names and nothing appears below where the mail should be. What do I do? Thanks

    Update to above question:
    Hello All,
To anyone with the same problem described above, on THEIR iPad (if it is running iOS 7.0.2):
Go to Settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; DELETE your *******@btinternet.com e-mail account, that you originally set up either using 'Other', or the 'BT' option which I am sure was in the list previous to the iOS 7 update.
Then ADD a NEW account choosing YAHOO from the list of options. DO NOT USE 'OTHER'.
Enter the correct details just as you (almost certainly) had already done in your previous attempts using 'other'.
When you see the 'verifying......' and 'the blue ticks' you should be able to exit settings and open your mail app and then receive all your 'old' e-mails again, AND be able to SEND as well.
All my 'old' e-mails, were NOT found in the 'old e-mail' folder though. THEY are still in my inbox.
So this fix worked for me.
After I deleted my account from 'OTHER' and put it in Yahoo, I like other people also ended up with more folders.
I hope this works for you on YOUR Apple devices.

  • Google Mail account on YouTube?

Has anyone here had any luck using Google Mail to set up a YouTube account which works with their Apple TV?
I tried before and I managed to Log in on the Apple TV, but it all went a bit weird, 'cos it kept saying invalid username on the Apple TV and my favourites wouldn't show up.

Ok, well I answered the question myself. You CAN use a Google Mail e-mail address with YouTube and the Apple TV. The only catch is, when you Sign Up for your YouTube account, don't use the "Log in with your Google account" option. Instead, fill in the blue form under "Create Your YouTube Account". It's that simple.

  • Two Google mail accounts in Mail cannot send properly

I recently added a business email that was set up through google mail to Apple Mail.  Both boxes receive mail fine. However, when I try to send from my business email it is delivered through my personal.  When I try to edit the outgoing server to differentiate the two accounts Mail gives an error message that it cannot connect & defaults to online.   I have tried numerous options with no success.  Ironically, the emails perform perfectly on an Iphone but not a Macbook Pro.  Any thoughts?  Thank you

Click the extra one that you want to delete, then when it's highlighted, click the minus sign in the lower left corner to delete it.

  • Mountain Lion has discovered I have a Google Mail account.  I don't want my iCloud/Mac/iCal linked to Googlemail's calendar.  How do I separate them?

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and in the process my iCal discovered I have a Gmail account.  How it did that I don't know!  Now it wants to use a gmail-linked calendar as default.  I have never ever used a Google calendar and this is a real nuisance.  How can I decouple iCal from Google without having to close Google down completely?

Go to System Preferences>Mail, Contacts & Calendars select your Gmail account and uncheck the items you don't want to sync.

  • Synching my N82 with my google mail account!

Try as i might I cannot get my N82 to pick up my emails from my google account. Admittedly I am something of a technophobe, but even using the links from this site to use the configuration tools via text to my phone I do not see able to get it to work.
Can anyone provide a very simple step-by-step guide including the necessary incoming/outgoing server settings?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi there
first of all you will need to enable "pop" on your Gmail account by logging in and selecting settings and then forwarding and pop.
Make sure the "pop" setting is enabled.
Usually the best way to configure Gmail is via the built in Setting wizzard. Select mail and then gmail, input all your settings such as username (full gmail address) and password. It will then configure all settings for you.
If you prefer to do it manually then enter these as the crucial settings:
Connection settings: Incoming: Username (full gmail address)
    Password *******
    Incoming server: pop.gmail.com
    Access point: (as per operator)
    Mailbox Type: POP3
    Secrity: SSL/TLS
    Port: default
    APOP: off
    Outgoing: Gmail address
    Username (full gmail address)
    Password: *******
    Outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com
    Access point: (as per operator)
    Security: SSL/TLS
    Port default
All the other settings can be tailored according to your needs in the other setting options.

  • BIS not enabling Google Mail feature set for Google Apps account

I used to be a very happy BlackBerry user when we were still using Exchange and BES. Since then we have moved to Google Mail and my GSM provider is no longer giving me BES (no their GSM provider will either - BES is for coporations only now).
Normally, on my Bold 9900 the Google Mail specific feature set (in particular OTA sync of Calendar and Contacts) is supposed to work through BIS. I can confirm this works just fine when I try to connect to my plain-vanilla GMail account over BIS.
But my company calendar and address book is on the Google Apps domain, not my personal GMail account.
However, my company mail, which is a Google Apps domain, can not be set up as Google Mail, even if I force it to talk to imap.gmail.com. Mail is setup and is delivered (as it would be for plain IMAP/POP access). But Contacts and Calenar are not available for sync.
I tried to go through my GSM provider to have our company's domain name added to RIM/BIS Google Apps Domain lis to force BIS, but my GSM provider staunchly affirm that this is not their problem, but Googles, and anyhow, they can not contact RIM.
What options do I have to force BIS to accept a given domain as being a Google Apps domain?

  • Google Mail - need mobile account?

Question - I have a normal Google mail account, but to use Google mail on my iPhone do I need to sign up with Google's "mobile" option?
If not is there any benefit to doing so as far as functionality?
Thanks in advance - such a great discussion board.

    gargars,
Here is some information pulled directly off of one of our [support articles|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=51729]:
POP3 is the most commonly used mail protocol. POP3 simply downloads new messages from the server to your computer. It can sometimes be configured for some options such as leaving a copy of the message on the server or downloading only messages under a certain size, but POP3 is primarily intended to copy your mail to your computer and off the server. This protocol is a good choice if you will be using only one computer to manage your account.
If you use more than one computer to check your email, IMAP may be preferable. When your email application uses IMAP to interact with the server, you are able to view the messages on the server without removing them. You can also create folders on the server and organize messages within them. This is very useful if you need to check your account from more than one computer. Since IMAP does not remove messages from the server unless you delete them, the messages are available to you from whatever computer you use to check your mail.
    Hope this helps,
    Jennifer B.

    HI,
The Apple IDs from @mac.com and @me.com (Older MobileMe and more recent iCloud Names) are also Valid AIM Screen names.
Any other sort of Apple ID is not a Valid AIM Name.
A Google ID that is associated with Google Mail Account (And has "Talk" enable on your Google Settings) can be used in iChat as  Jabber Name/ID.  (Google Run  Jabber server).
Jabber and AIM are different IM Services and it is not easy or straight forward to add Buddies from one Service to the Buddy List of another.  (As A Starting point consider it "impossible")
iChat 4 and 5 have links to the registration page of @Mac.com here with a "Get an iChat Account" button in the add (Account) screen  (You select @mac.com or MobileMe and then press the Button - Choosing AIM and then pressing the button used to lead to the AIM registration page but AIM moved their page).
Apple IDs can be any valid email (or an @mac.com or iCloud registration)
Therefore you could make a Google ID into an Apple ID.
However this will not be a valid AIM Screen Name the way @mac.com or MobileMe/iCloud ones are.

  • Loosing Google mail messages in Apple Mail.

Fully updated Mountain Lion on both a desktop Mac Mini and a MacBook Pro laptop and iOS 7 on both iPad and iPhone.
I just found out that some Google mail messages of mine are missing in my laptop's Mail client while I can read them at the same time in the Mail client of my desktop Mac at home (I am at work on my laptop, 10 messages are missing, I am remotely connecting to my desktop Mac at home, I open the Mail client and the messages are there).
Following some advice that I read in another discussion in these forums, I unchecked the "Use IDLE command if the server supports it" flag  of the Advanced tab of the Google mail account configuration and, then, some of the missing messages appeared in the mailbox (but not all of them).
While the above happens, I am seeing these messages on both of my iOS devices.
What could be wrong? Has anybody else experienced a similar behavior on their systems?
    Panos Tsapralis.

I forgot to mention that things did not get better after closing and re-opening the Mail application. Also, the missing messages appear in the Web-based Google mail.

I suspected a problem with google mail so I forwarded the troublesome E'mail with link attached to my AOL account. I then opened the E'mail, clicked on the link and it activated immediately.

I have exactly the same issue. After FF upgraded on its own to version 5, it won't open from start menu, taskbar, desktop icon, or even by pressing firefox.exe in program files directory. It does so by pressing a link at msn messenger, inside Outlook etc.
