Google Mail not pushing on iPhone 4

Hello everyone,
I got my iPhone 4 last weekend and been setting it up since. Everything works just fine now, except for the push mail. I'm using a Google Mail Account that collects from my actual mail account because GMX does not provide free pushing. I've used this setup for half a year on my Windows Mobile phone, and it has always worked just fine, incoming mails were pushed within 10 seconds max.
But now I have to go into my inbox to get mails downloaded to my iPhone. I created the mail account on my iPhone using Add Account... - Google Mail. Fetch New Data" is set to "Push", and I don't see anything else I can about this in my iPhone settings.
Am I missing something or is this just not working on iPhone?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Nate

  • A Fix for mail not pushing after iPhone upgrade.

Here is the fix. Keep in mind that I'm a Mac, if you're a PC you will need to read between the lines a bit. .But this did fix the Push issue. What you need to do is a Restore, but when the dialog box asks if you would like to apply the Back Up iTunes has, that back up needs to not have any of your mail settings. Here you go:
    1) plug the phone into your mac and sync with iTunes.
    2) eject & unplug the iphone
    3) on the phone go to settings>mail, contact, calendar>select your mail accounts and delete them. When the "keep on iPhone" question appears choose <delete from my iPhone>.
    4) Reboot the iPhone.
    5) Now plug your "Mail-less" iPhone into your mac (if it starts to sync- cancel it..you just did a sync).
    6) Hold down the Control key while you click on your IPhone under Devices in iTunes. From the menu that appears select "Back Up"
This creates a back up of your iPhone without any trace of your Mail settings.
    7) Click Restore in the Summary Tab in iTunes. When the restore is finished it asks if you would like to restore from a back up. You bet you would.
    8) After all the smoke clears ( it transfers your stuff over and restarts a few times) grab your mail-less iPhone and set up your mail account as if your phone was right off the shelf.
FIXED..so long as you remembered to turn Push notifications on

Fantastic! Worked a treat - thanks!

My yahoo e-mail is not pushing to my iPhone4, again.  Had this same problem for several weeks in October/November 2011.  It's been a problem again for two weeks now.  My kids and husband have three other types of smart phones, and none of them have had this problem.  I'm NOT impressed.  I've seen that others in the iPhone community have also been having this problem.  Is Apple doing anything about it?

It's a yahoo issue. Nothing you can do on your phone to fix it.

  • Email not pushing to iPhone 5 after iOS7 update

After updating to iOS7 on a 16GB iPhone 5 my @mac.com/@me.com/@icloud.com email is no longer pushing to my device.  I still have my icloud username as @mac.com as it was prior to the iOS7 upgrade.
Does anyone else have this issue with emails not pushing?  The phone and settings are set to push.  I have another iPhone 5 that emails push to when the username is @me.com.  Do I need to change the apple ID?

One thing I have found to work for me is to force quit the mail app. Hold the home button down until it takes you back to the home screen.
I do this each time I look at or send mail and it has been working so far.

  • Apple mail not delivered to iPhone 4 consistently

Lately, 50% of the time, my PUSH apple mail does not get loaded / trigger my alert tone? Why???   Once I launch the mail app it will THEN pull the notes in.

Do you check the settings of mail?
PUSH should be activicated, or else you have to manually fetch data.
@me.com should work perfectly with PUSH
if @gmail.com, you shoulc choose microsoft exchange instead of default GMail option for PUSH
    Thanks

  • Mail not working on iphone or mac???

I went on vacation, came home and my mail won't work on my iphone or my mac. It works on my ipad though. I've updated the iphone by connecting to my mac, but still doesn't work!
    Iphone
When I go to the mail button, it says welcome to mail...then gives me options, I click on Icloud (which I use on my ipad) and it takes me to a window to enter my email and password, tries to verify and then says that my email is already added "This iCloud acct has already een added to your Iphone". Okay...so how the heck do I check my e-mail or get it to push in to the mail app/button? Driving me nuts!
    ON my mac
I open my mail and it asks for password which I enter and nothing happens - it asks for password again...my password has not changed!!!
What is going on and why all the sudden has something changed? I'm very fustrated and the support from Apple/iCloud wants $$$ but I didn't change anything so why should I have to pay to correct! I'm so fustrated!!! Please help.

Try Restarting / rebooting  your Mac before doing anything more drastic..

  • TS4002 iCloud mail not pushing

Haven't been getting push email on iPhone or iPad. However, my wife is getting them on her iPhone and iPad. Strangely, when I enable hear mail on mine and mine on hers, she still gets push and I still don't. I'm no rookie here, my settings are right. Everything was cool Neil about a week ago. Right around the 5.1.1 update. The wife's iPhone did NOT get updated yet , but her phone DID, so that's not it. Anyone else having push problems?

I contacted Apple Care, and with all my troubleshooting I spoke with a higher up advisor. She determined that is an issue with my account. She escalated it to engineering and they would get back to her in 72 hours.
I contacted them back after 72 hours and had a few more questions. I will be hearing back tomorrow.
If you can have another account log in and get push iCloud mail but not when you are signed in I'd highly suggest calling apple care so engineering knows this is an issue effecting you. It may not be very widespread so you should get the ball rolling.

  • Mail not Pushing?

My friends iPhone tells him he's got new mail, even when his Mail app is not open and his phone is in standby mode. You can hear the mail chime go off.
On my phone, no such luck. I have Push enabled, yet still I have to open the Mail app and wait a few moments for it to check for new messages.
    ?

What type of email account? Push email is only supported with MobileMe, Yahoo accounts, and MS Exchange (corporate email). Gmail, hotmail, etc., do not support Push. If you have one of those accounts, set Fetch to 15 minutes and your mail will be automatically checked at that interval, and if you have new mail you'll get a tone (so long as Settings > Sounds has that function ON).

  • Yahoo Mail not pushing/fetching; account not visible after reactivation

For the past 48 hours, my Yahoo account has not automatically pushed any mail, and the only way I could get it to check was to reboot the phone.
Today I tried deactivating the yahoo account on the iPhone 3G, and reactivating. Nothing happened, except that the Account did not reappear after reactivating. Just the splash screen with all the options.
This is not good. Looks like another reinstall?!?

  • Google Calendars not syncing to iPhone 6

As of about 3 days ago my google calendars stopped syncing to my iPhone 6 using iOS 8.1.1. I noticed some events were not syncing, going both directions. I removed Calendar Sync from my google gmail account, which deleted all of my google calendars for that account. Then I added calendar sync again. When I did that the calendars do not appear in my iOS calendars app. I've tried to refresh, i've deleted and added several times, but no calendars. I've even posted on the Google support page (https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/calendar/ios/jmqloVY4LmQ). I can't find anything to say why I'm having this issue or how to correct it. I've added it using all of the recommendations from Google, using a google account, and I've selected my calendars to sync. But It's not even showing my primary calendar now. Please help!

I had the same problem, but read this after the downgrade opportunity expired.  After almost 2 months I figured it out.  I set up the Gmail/Google Calendar/Google Contacts on my iPhone as an Exchange Account many years ago.  Google discontinued this in 2013 for all new users, though it still worked for me (until Nov 17th).  Google now uses CardDAV for Contacts and CaIDAV for Calendar (since 2013).  They recommend using the Gmail app for their mail.  Here is a link on how to set up Gmail/Contacts/Google Calendar: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/3008051?hl=en
I did this yesterday and now everything works.  I was surprised that there weren't more complaints about the issue (I thought there must be hundreds of thousands of people affected) but most people probably have it set up using the newer method, which obviously wasn't affected by iOS 8.1.1

  • Push Mail not pushing?

My iPhone 4 was working fine with Push Mail until the last update, now it only brings up mail if I manually check it, even though I have it set to 15 mins.
This, ironically, is eating up more battery as all my business is done through e-mail so checking every couple of minutes is draining more life.
Is anyone else having this problem and is there a solution?

The point is not to delete the account and keep the emails.
With an Exchange account and an IMAP account, no emails will be lost since messages in server stored mailboxes remain on the server.
With a POP account when deleting and recreating the account, all received messages that remain on the server will be downloaded again as new and unread messages, and any sent messages with the account by the iPhone would be lost.
If you don't want to delete and recreate the accounts, then live with it.
