Google map for store locator.

Is it possible to have the Google map remain on the page while doing a search for a store, company etc.? I'd noticed that it only shows up after you type in a State etc. The space where the map displays looks empty until the map shows up.

Yes, Google has changed things and you now don't need an API key. The good old boys at Kiyuco have a later Web App Google Map tutorial here http://kiyuco.com/tutorials/update-maps-to-google-map-api-v3 which explains how to set it up.

Google Maps for Flash in AIR for Android: ~2 minutes to start up

I have a "Hello World" style AIR for Android app using Flash Builder 4 Burrito/Flex Hero.
When debugging on device (stock HTC Desire) using Flex version v1.20 of Google Maps for Flash (map_flex_1_20.swc), it takes 1 minute and 50 seconds for the app to startup to display a simple map:Map3D on the home screen. The same app without the map:Map3D object starts in just a few seconds.
There are no startup delays using the simulator.
Anyone know what might be causing the severe startup delay when running on device?

Hi - yes no problem: I've uploaded a sample app here: http://crackedfrog.com/files/AndroidAIRMap.zip.
You'll need to add a valid Google Maps API key and corresponding URL back into the maps:Map3D object:

This shows the same behaviour as described above - around 2 minutes to start up when debugging on the device.

I had a Centro with firmware version 1.05 and Google maps version 1.2.0.9 (which does not have the My Location feature on the menu). I updated to firmware version 1.07 and Google maps 2.0.2, but My Location feature would not work and resulted in error message "The My Location feature is not available for this device. It is available for Palm Centro phones." I worked for an hour with Palm support doing a hard reset and reloading all software and it would still not work. They said their own test Centro phone was having the same problem. They finally told me I need a phone with firmware version 1.08. The Sprint Store had a demo Centro with firmware version 1.08, and the My Location feature was working on it. I have the Sprint Total Equipment Protection plan on the phone, so Sprint provided me with a replacement phone that came with firmware version 1.07 (!) and Google maps 1.2.0.9. I updated to Google maps 2.0.2 and finally My Location feature works! So I guess you don't really need firmware version 1.08, but some Centro phones work and some don't with firmware version 1.07.

Not opening native application of google maps for iphone application

Hi Everyone,
Before i have iphone 1.4 version and that time i could open native application of maps.google.com which is supported in my iphone application.
Now i am using iphone 2.0 but that native application of maps.google.com for iphone is not opening in iphone application. Its opening but not application application.it open normal site.
But i have to use native application of maps.google.com for iphone because i am doing one apps in which i have to display various various location in iphone.
If any one have idea about this please help me.

The new maps will be on the 4s and it will have siri directing you now, but the new maps is way more improved the google, and fly over is pretty amazing, you get trails and walking paths too its pretty neat! but apple is featuring a all new maps with the ios 6 software

Not quite. I believe iTunes checks for a new version of the iPhone sw on a weekly basis - or one week after the last automatic or forced "check for update." The timeframe does not correspond to an expected update.
It does, though there have been several times when my automatic update set itself to the day of a software release. I think they do include the release date in the "auto update" when they have a firm one set.

How to see historical map for a Location in FDM?

Hi all!!
I have a trouble watching the historical maps of any location. Let´s suppose I have in Period Jan 2009 the next map:
Source -> 100
Target -> 200
And then in Period Feb 2009, I added the next line to the map
Source -> 105
Target -> 205
Then, in period Jan 2009 I should have:
Source -> 100
Target -> 200
but I have the same as Feb 2009, I mean:
Source -> 100
Target -> 200
Source -> 105
Target -> 205
Is there any setting to modifiy to store the historical instead of the current mapping??

The map is at a point of time.
I'm not sure what your situation is (if you are loading historical data and have both Jan and Feb open or someone re-validated in January and messed up something).
There is a restore feature (my FDM version is 9.3.1). Go to the location and then go to Maps.
Make sure you are in the Account dimension and click on the Restore button at the right.
Pick January 2009 (if that is the month/year you want) and click ok.
This will put the map back to where it was in January. Then you can lmport, validate, and export January.
When you are ready to do Febrary restore it back to February.

Google maps for flash been Deprecated !

Hello. i just wana notify the comunity about a serious step tooken from google to kill the maps for flash, because seems like they can not handle them.
I would like to hear Adobe opinion - can Adobe do their developers a favor and asign a programmers to took close deal with google and continue the maps for flash ?
This is not a simple issue, it will be a vital for the future development of many things connected to Adobe and Google.
Please consider the question carefully.

Google map for searching place and driving aid

I search the place before driving at home in my laptop using google map. this is very convenient.
I bought the windows phone, with the hope that it will be more closer to my laptop, which runs on windows.
but now when I type the URL for google map. it prompts me to install the google map. When I do so it says: " Can't download file Windows phone doesn't support this file type."
On checking with nokia customer support, they informed that we can't install any application on our phone, but the only one that are listed in " marketplace".
They say the Nokia map exists, but that isn't that rich as google maps.
Can anyone help if I can use the map search/ find direction in mobilie?

You have full free sat nav on the lumia why do you need google to navigate or find somewhere ?

Hi, try Options -> Tools -> Connections and select a working connection. It needs at least a data connection to download maps from Google unlike Nokia maps where the maps can be downloaded in advance.
I find that the maps are more detailed in Google compared to Nokia maps though and is more 'eye friendly'.

Applications not appropriate for store location?

I'm in the UK and I've seen a huge number of apps appear that are traffic cameras for US cities. While they are free and I'm not dumb enough to download apps that are only any use in the US, I wonder if users in other countries are getting the same issue. Traffic cameras would be great if they did them for my country - maybe the UK ones are only available in the US? There also seems to be quite a number of apps that are not in English which is a shame as they look good but there is no way of telling what they do.
Given the problems that some location-based apps are having finding where I am, I guess I shouldn't be that surprised that apps in the iTunes store are having location problems!

The weather application is powered by "Yahoo". It doesn't have all cities listed in the database and your city is also not listen. Therefore it's not showing your local weather. You can "ADD" a nearby location in the weather application.
For the location problem, turn the location service "OFF" & "ON". Restart your phone (by long pressing the ON & OFF button on top right & slide to tun off). Then use a WIFI connection to run the google map application and locating your position. I hope this will fix the issue.

Google Map Marker Pin at Incorrect Location

Can anyone help regarding why a Google map marker is located off the coast of Africa when I have included the app item location/address details as being in Queensland, Australia?
It only comes up when a full search is done, when you click the Get Directions links you're taken to the correct map in Google Maps.

Hi Mary, I had a problem with Perth as well, but it has somehow resolved itself.
