Google Maps App??? On a Printer?

The new Photosmart printers by HP are taking the web concept to a new level. The idea is to take a regular HP All-In-One printer and add internet connectivity in the form of a browser. When I first heard about the idea, I could not figure out the uses for it. Having now seen it several times in the lab, I can't wait to get my hands on one for use at home. As soon as I do, I'll update this thread. Have any of you tried this out? It is worth popping into a computer store just to experience it.

Where does the problem lie? Also can anyone tell me the hierarchy of use between the Apple Maps, SIRI, and Google maps when the app is on the phone? How do you choose one over the other as the default map usage? Or better still how do you suppress SIRI from using the Apple maps app when requesting a "go to"?
I have placed an address location into the CONTACTS list and when I ask SIRI to "take me there" it found a TOTALLY different location in the metro area with the same street name. I have included the address, the quadrant, (NE) and the ZIP code into the CONTACTS list. As it turns out, no amount of canceling the trip or relocating the address in the CONTACTS list line would prevent SIRI from taking me to this bogus location. FINALLY I typed in Northeast for NE in the CONTACTS list (NE being the accepted method of defining the USPS location quadrant) , canceled the current map route and it finally found the correct address. This problem would normally not demand such a response from me to have it fixed but the address is one of a hospital in the center of town and this hospital HAS a branch location in a similar part of town (NOT the original address SIRI was trying to take me to). This screw up could be dangerous if not catastrophic to someone who was looking for a hospital location fast and did not know of these two similar locations. After all the whole POINT of directions is not just whimsical pasttime or convenience. In a pinch people need to rely on this function. OR, are my expectations set too high?
How does the iPhone select between one app or the other (Apple Maps or Gppgle Maps) as it relates to SIRI finding and showing a map route?
Why does SIRI return an address that is NOT the correct address nor is the returned location in the requested ZIP code?
Is there a known bug in the CONTACTS list that demands the USPS quadrant ID be spelled out, as opposed to abreviated, to permit SIRI to do its routing?

siri will only use apple maps, this cannot be changed. you could try google voice in the google app.

Battery drain with ios6 apps crashing! google maps app is gone. The Apple version is like asking a blind man for directions! Awful. As consumers we are caught up in the squabbles between Apple and Google, and we pay the price.

Does anyone else have battery life problems with the iOS6 update? Some of my other apps crash constantly, bringing my reading or workflow back to the home screen. The new map App is a disaster! Is there an online petition to have Apple bring back the Google map app? It is like asking a blind man for driections! As someone who spends a lot of time writing reviews (for vidya gaems ;P) I enjoyed your review. I am also looking at getting a new phone soon (I am saving up to buy out on refresh). I was considering th next iPhone but from reading your review I may consider this device instead. What I need to know is this. When the phone is in a phone holder which you have in a car for example does the screen get pressed at the sides? I don't wan't to open up Waze put my phone in a holder and it get cancelled out by what it thinks is a button press. Also, is the screen goign to be scratched easy? I am guessing there is no decent screen guards yet. I did buy some screen protection liquid that was recommended on these forums and my lumia still got scratched by about an inch or so.

How to permanently delete Google Maps app with its data?

I want to remove my previous logins from the Google Maps app. I tried deleting it and then re-downloading it from the app store but the app shows with the iCloud logo and when I download it to my iPhone, it still shows my previous logins. There must be some way to permanently delete it?

There's no logout button. One can choose "Use Google Maps without a Google account" but not the logout:

But it still remembers my account whatever I choose.
The reason I'm thinking that the logins are stored on the phone is because I just restored my data to a brand new iPhone and Google Maps app did not have any of my login data. It has it now only after I logged in with the wrong account (by mistake.)

You can have a google maps app by going to maps.google.com in safari, then, you press the 'share' button in the bottom center of the safari page that looks like an arrow coming out of a square. When you press the share button, you'll see the option to add the page to your home screen. This will allow you to access google maps from your homescreen just like before

Google maps app is not visible in app store

Hi, I am new to iOS and using a UK based factory unlock iphone 4s with iOS 7 in Pakistan. I am unable to find google maps app in app store.
If I see app from maps.google.com and tap on download, it tries to open app store but nothing happens. Is it anything to do with my apple ID or UK based store? Please suggest solution.

• Open the Google Maps app and sign in.
• Touch the side menu > Settings > Maps history.
• Touch the X next to the entry you want to delete, and then touch Delete.

It then takes me into google maps where I constantly discover that the pin has moved. It often moves off the property of the addresss or building I dropped a pin on. I am trying to solve this. Sorry. There's nothing anyone can do. The current version of the facebook app will not run on 4.2.1. The iPhone 3G won't run anything higher than 4.2.1. You're stuck.

i found a solution for this issue when google maps shows you an empty map error message cannot reach server. Click on the icon next to search and you are supposed to be presented with your profile, if not u will have an empty space. click on that space, then the "gear " Icon and logout.
restart your iphone then strat google maps again and log back in.
apparently this is happening when you change your google acount password or enble or disable 2 step verification.

I think this is not possible as a link on the iPhone will default to the Apple Maps app and there is no way to change this.

I agree. I liked the previous map app. The version 6 app is powered by tomtom, I think. No more street view. I don't care for the new overhead view when dropping a pin. Plus, the current map app doesn't have the local points or data base that the google maps app had. Too bad I can't go back to the old map app.

Nope. Power cycle the phone first (turn it off, then on) to see if it just needs to be rebooted.
If not, it's not really that big of a deal. Connect to iTunes, let it sync, click the "restore" button and let it restore. When it asks if you want to restore your data back onto the phone, say yes, and when it's done, you'll be right where you are now plus the google map application and all your data.
What gets me is... how do you "accidentally" delete an undeletable system application? The only way I know would be to jailbreak the phone, so, if it is jailbroken, be sure you can get it re-jailbroken, ( and unlocked if necessary) as well before it will be usable for the telephone function.
