Google maps has stopped working in Safari

Within the last week, Google Maps has stopped working in Safari 6.1.1. It previously worked fine. The page starts to load, and then hangs. It displays the small rectangle that says "loading...". I have tried deleting Safari preferences. This had no effect. Any suggestions?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Google Map has stopped working

Soon after I got iWeb 08 I added a Google Map to one of my web sites. It worked just fine (except in Mac Firefox on a few computers, but that's a relatively minor problem).
I just tried to update the map's address, and the Apply button no longer does anything at all. If I delete my old map (which works, allowing the user to zoom and use the To and From features), then insert a brand new map, I get the same problem: the map comes up with the sample address of 1 Infinite Loop, and although I can replace it in the dialog nothing happens when I click Apply.
Several other people have posted similar problems. The answers they were given were based on going to Google Maps, making a map there, and pasting the HTML snippet into iWeb. That should not be necessary. This feature worked fine a few weeks ago, but it is now broken because of a new bug either at Google or in the latest iWeb update.

It's good to know that there's a work-around. But since I don't need any fancy features, the Google widget provided with iWeb is good enough for me. And it DID work as documented when I first used it.
You say it's not a new bug. I don't know how long I've been affected. I didn't try to click Apply for weeks after setting up my map, so I don't know when Apply first would have failed for me.
Without some debug traces that I'm not equipped to capture there is no way to know whose bug it is. But the fact that it stopped working after an iWeb update makes me blame iWeb first. The problem could also be a lower level Apple change in the recent security update. Could equally be at Google's end. The Apply button obviously requires communication with Google's servers, and if they have changed their protocols without a matching change from Apple the communication may not work.

  • HT201541 My website has stopped working in Safari Version 5.1.10?

My website (www.dollshousefireplace.co.uk) has stopped working in Safari Version 5.1.10 (old Mac pro) and on one of my other machines (old imac) running Version 5.0.6? but it works fine on other devices (ipad, iphone, (new) Mac pro and PC) using (probably) different versions of Safari. Is there anything I can do to change this!

Thank you KiltedTiim and Eric Root,
The thing is, although upgrading the OS might work, I am more concerned with that the another one of my websites I've made (only a few days latter, www.marblemason.co.uk) does work in Safari 5.1.10.
In both cases they where made using Adobe Muse!
I know that most of my customers and potential customers are normally in there 50s +, and will not be interested in contantley upgrading there OS.

  • Google maps no longer working on safari

Intermittent problem of late. running safari v5.0.5, and I can no longer get google maps to work. I get no map, and then a yellow bar with 'still loading - slow?' etc inside at the top of the page. the troubleshooting link doesn't help. any assistance much appreciated. its difficult to make travel plans for Europe when you relying on this! I am currently using O2 mobile broadband, though I have no idea whether this is in any way relevant. TIA.

I've had the same problem for quite a while. I just thought it was because my computer is so old (2001). I also have a problem with Google images. A few images pop up and that's it.
I resorted to using Yahoo for images and maps, and haven't had a problem.

  • Twitter has stopped working in Safari 6, Mtn.Lion 10.8.2.

It was working fine last night and it works in Chrome. I can see the tweet stream but I get no response when I click on reply, etc. within a tweet. New tweet button not working. Profile and Settings gear button not working. Clicking on a tweet account in the stream opens that person's profile in a new window/tab instead of popping up over the tweet stream.
I've erased all file in the Library/Safari folder and started afresh but that doesn't change the behavior any. I've downloaded the Webkit nightly and it exhibits the same behavior too.
Does anyone have any ideas about this? Thanks!

Just restarted Safari again to check on this and now it's working. Go figure!!!

  • OVI Maps has stopped working

I bought the E71 about a month ago and OVI maps worked fine until a few days ago. When I start Maps it finds my current location. I then search for a location and it gives me the option I require. I then select 'Drive to' which is where it goes wrong. It then hangs saying 'Waiting for GPS' Initially a screen popped up asking me to accept and 'drive and walk to' licence and give options to purchase an annual licence, etc. Now it doesn't even do this..
    Version 2
I'm in a good coverage area with strong signal.

It seems to me like you are still using V2 and you don't have a navigation license. Did you realise that an update with free navigation is actually available for the E71. Use the link below, select your phone, download and install. This should fix the fault as well.

  • The Maverick maps has stopped working on my imac

About two weeks ago the Maps app on my 27 inch iMac started to crash shortly after starting up. Now it just bounces a couple of times and then nothing more.
    How do I fix this?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Flash has suddenly stopped working with Safari and Firefox.

I have a Wordpress blog. Suddenly, Flash has stopped working on Safari and Firefox in relation to my Wordpress module. But everything works fine from my PC laptop and other MACs owned by friends, etc. It is only on my iMac that Flash has stopped working. Any ideas?

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system? Do you have a 32 bit or 64 bit version?

  • Google site blocking not working in Safari

The feature that lets us block all Google search results from specific sites, such as content farms, has stopped working in Safari although it does work in Chrome, Firefox, Explorer, and Opera. Do I need to set some option to make it work, or is there something wrong with Safari?

Are you on the latest version?
yes, everything is up to date. it's odd that you can't see the image.

  • Unfortunately Google Chrome has stopped

Unfortunately google chrome has stopped working - This is the error message  I get constantly on my one week old Turbo. I've tried Chrome, Chrome Beta, Dolphin and Firefox. They all crash. It does seem to happen more often in landscape mode. Google keyboard was crashing too but an install of Swiftkey seemed to fix this problem. Is this a software problem that may be fixed in an update? I really like this phone but using the internet is painful when it crashes every minute

Have done all of that. Didn't help. This problem started the day I got the phone home. This seems to be an issue with many phones, but a google search provides no clear cut fix. It seems to be a luck of the draw whether a phone has problems like this or not. Thanks for the reply

Fingers crossed, your Windows 7 will have been recording some additional information about those.
First, open your Action Center and expand "Maintenance". Click "View reliability history":
Once the reliability report has been generated, look for Critical events for Safari generated at the time of the "Safari has stopped working" messages. Doubleclick the name Safari in the critical events. (Don't click View solution.) Here's a screenshot showing what to doubleclick:
You should see something that looks like the following screenshot:
Copy and paste the contents of the problem report into a reply here. For example:
