Google maps have been replaced by swinging sign
I now have a swinging sign that says "Mobie Me Closed" where my Google Maps used to be. Efforts to reset them have resulted in the same sign showing up. I realize that IWeb did not migrate to the cloud, but this is rediculous. I can put other Google apps on from the Widgets collection, but not maps. What is going on and how do I correct this?
All you do is go to Google maps and get the map you want and then you need to embed it into your website. Just copy the resultant html code and then paste this in to an ordinary html snippet and click on Apply and you will get your map back.
The Google map widget does not work because some of the info was stored on MobileMe which does not exist any longer, so the map widget does not work, but the solution is simple.
Perhaps you should have searched this form first and you would have found the answer to this several times over if you had.

Google Maps have large vertical Stripes.
FF 3.6.12 Google maps have large stripes stating "We are sorry, but we don't have maps at this zoom level for this region." It has stripes of the same width regardless of zoom level. When using Satellite mode, the stripe is replaced with satellite graphic but greatly enlarged.
I have started FF in Safe mode and tried all I can think of. IE shows Google Maps correctly. You're welcome

I updated my iPhone to the new IOS6 and my awesome Google map app was replaced with the sucky, horrible, awful Apple map app. I want my Google navigator map app back!!!!!!
I agree. I liked the previous map app. The version 6 app is powered by tomtom, I think. No more street view. I don't care for the new overhead view when dropping a pin. Plus, the current map app doesn't have the local points or data base that the google maps app had. Too bad I can't go back to the old map app.

It seems to have been replaced by a "mute on/off" button instead. How do I fix this?
I'm using an iPod 3G running 5.1.1.I have the same issue as the person in this thread. https://discussions.apple.com/message/15245430#1524543
I have also fixed my issue thanks to that thread, thank you. -
My file names have disappeared in grid view. Thery have been replaced with a dark bar along the bottom of the previews. If I toggle using the command u it hide the bar but I still can't see the file name. In list view all the file names are OK.
The dark bar is caused by the option "Show metadata below image".
Check the settings for the metadata overlays in Grid view (basic and expanded) by clicking the little "badge" icon below the Browser and selecting "Edit". Is the filename still enabled in the list? And in a high enough position to have precedence for other metadata tags, if the space does not suffice to show all selected tags?

In iPhoto most of my photos appear to have been replaced by much smaller versions. What has happened and how can I get the full size photos back?
That is either a bug in Firefox 5 or the script has a problem with Firefox 5.<br />
It works in all other Firefox versions like Firefox 3 and 4 and 6 (Aurora) and 7 (Nightly). -
Can anybody tell me why images in my photo libraries have been replaced by the photoshop symbol? Thanks.

It seems that many (if not all) of my files have been replaced by older versions. I can find the multiple version including the most recent version using the Search, however, they show up in the same directory even though Finder only shows a single copy. I am able to save and then overwrite in order to restore but this is strange. There is no chance that another user here has done any sort of system restore action (at least intentionally).

In a OS Extended (HFS) file system there is no way you can have two files with identical names in the same directory.
Of course who knows what spotlight is thinking of most of the time when it does its stupid searches (get Find any File instead) and lists its results? Are you sure it is listing the same directory or do you have a backup and it is finding it there and you aren't noticing it is two different volumes?
You could also try reindixing the volume. Add it to the Spotlight system preferences Privacy and then remove it. -
When Safari is opened on my MacBook Pro, the arrow at the top left ( of the search bar where I type what web site I am searching) has been replaced by the sign + which I can click on to add a bookmark... How can I restore the arrow that I can use to access the previous page?
What should I should do?

Go up to the main Safari menu bar above, and select "View."
Then when that bar comes down, select "Customize Toolbar."
Then select the arrow icon, and just drag it into your toolbar. -
What happened to the 'more' button at the bottom of the apps store screen? It seems to have been replaced by the 'updates' button, and I want the 'more' button back.
When using the back button I keep getting the drop down box when I do not want it. For me the hold down time before the box opens is far too short.
I would be quite happy to always right click to get the drop down. Is there any way to disable this feature when using the left button or for making the delay longer? -
Bookmarks have been replaced by an old set
After updating to FF 3.6.25 my bookmarks have been replaced with an old set with lots of my newest bookmarks missing.
I've gone through organize bookmarks, restore but the only date is 5th Jan which was when i downloaded the new FF. How do i get the old bookmarks back ?Firefox 2.0.0.20 uses HTML backups and Firefox 3 and later versions use JSON backups, so you won't see the bookmarks-xx-xx-xxxx.html files from Firefox 2.0.0.20 if you try to restore bookmarks in Firefox 3.6.x.
In that case you need to import the HTML file.
Firefox 3+ versions will automatically rebuild the bookmarks from the bookmarks.html file in the profile folder if there is no places.sqlite file and if there are no JSON backups present in the bookmarkbackups folder that can be used to restore bookmarks. -

Google maps have some kind of Java problem, won't load?
There is some kind of problem with Google maps suddenly not loading. I tried Google's fixes, but it's still bad. They say Skype figures into it, but I don't have Skype. This problem started on mine suddenly yesterday. I start to type a location in the box, and a little yellow "loading" box appears at the top, and then NOTHING HAPPENS.
Anybody know about this?
Thanks...Thank you for that input. In my little room here, it's hard to tell which wire or cable is what, even tho I installed this stuff a couple years ago. I have Comcast Broadband, which has been real reliable.
This problem started just yesterday, and I don't THINK it's what you're idea is. I'll wait a while to see what else might happen on this.
Thank you. -
How can i see when someone has accessed my call/text log. (This is possible on google/gmail) I have been informed that someone has accessed my activity log and is giving my information to a third party. I believe it is a service tech, but I am not interested in persuing that further. I just need to see when my account has been accessed if possible.
Hi lynniewigs,
This is a common concern among Android and I-phone user, and one of the drawbacks to using a smart phone. We lose so much privacy. Our phones become cameras into our homes for us to be spied on.
I don't know what type of phone you have, if it is even a smart phone, but here is an example of an application that you can use to determine which applications are accessing your information and sending it out.
Permission Scanner - Android Apps on Google Play
Google just recently revamp their permissions geared to hide invasive applications that spy and send out your information without your knowledge. Report says be aware of what your Android app does - CNET
Please continue to be mindful of the apps you download and the permissions you give.

Small typo bug on 4.2 WWV_FLOW_LANGUAGES table
Seems that for the lang_id = "fr-ch", both the LANG_NAME and the TRANSLATED_LANG_NAME columns have mistyped values - "Fench (Switzerland)" - so it's missing an "r". Regards, Peter
