Google maps turn by turn directions no longer interrupts iTunes music player in iOS7

I often use Google Maps app when I travel while simultaneously listening to music. I have my iPhone connected to my car stereo via the Lightning port. In iOS6, when Google would give turn by turn directions the music volume would duck and the voice guided navigation would play through the car stereo. After updating to iOS7, this feature no longer works. With both iTunes and Google Maps open, the music volume is always dimmed and voice guided navigation is always off.
I do not notice this issue with Apple's Maps app. So far it appears to work properly and I am using this as a work around. However there are several reasons I favor Google Maps as a superior solution for the moment. For example, if I ask for directions to a specific location such as a local business Google is able to provide this information 90% of the time. By comparison, the same query with Siri usually results in having to search the web for an address first and then having to go back and ask for directions to that specific street address. It is a minor inconvenience, but it is enough of a hassle that I tend to stick with the better content of Google Maps for now.
Perhaps this bug is iOS7 related or perhaps the issue is with the Google Maps app. Either way, I am reporting because I'd love to see it fixed. I have noticed several bugs (this being one of many that I am reporting) since upgrading to iOS7 which has been very disappointing. I am a huge Apple advocate and this has not been the experience of "It just works" that I have come to expect from my Apple products. It is because I care so much about the Apple ecosystem that has made my work and play so much more enjoyable that I will take the time to report these in hopes that Apple will take notice and that subsequent updates will address these issues.

I never did. Partly I believe it's the interaction with my car's bluetooth connection and instructions it sends the phone when they connect. It seems like if I actively QUIT all applications that could play audio (SiriusXM, Podcasts, Music), then I can get the directions without any music. (That said, the SiriusXM app doesn't always play nice. If any of these are open, not even playing, then they start up when I select bluetooth audio on my car stereo. But I still can't tell the audio to stop without it muting either Google Maps or Apple's Maps. They both behave the same way.

Is there any way of increasing the volume for turn directions on the above. My research so far indicates a volume control on the bottom RH corner of turn directions but this does not appear on my screen.

Google Maps can't get directions over Wi-Fi.

I stay in the United Arab Emirates, and I don't know if this problem is specific to the Middle East only, but the google maps app is unable to provide me with driving and walking directions between ANY two locations. The app responds with the following error message :- "Directions Not Available - A route cannot be determined from this start location." I have tried changing the start location and this doesn't seem to work as well. This problem occurs while I'm connected to the Wi-Fi with the GPS switched on.

Google Maps is a 3rd party map solution. I suggest checking with their support page and see if they support directions in the UAE. Only they, or someone that has used them in the UAE could answer your question. Good luck.

Google Maps, how implement street directions

working on my BSP application for geolocalization with google maps API i'm tripped on a strange problem.
I'm trying to implement the possility to trace route between two marker and give Streets indications.

I've copied the entire code of the google example in my page of BSP (it is made without MVC), but when i ran it, only the maps
is displayed, without marker, directions and Street indications.
It's so strange becasue if i copy the entire surce code of the BSP page when displayed, in a normal page HTML made by text editor it runs fine!!!
I do not understand, someone can help me?

Thanks but i've already read it, in Gregor Wolf geocoding BSP the routes are drawn through direct Google maps call:

This is good alternative but it not returns Streets indications and not allows management of multiple points.
To do it right you should use google maps API for directions.
But only this particolar funcion of the API, seems not work.

Google Maps Error Message - "Driving directions could not be received"

Hi guys, i've had my iPhone for quite a while now and lately I'm getting the error message "Driving directions could not be received" when I'm in the maps application. I've reset the phone and I'm still getting that message. Any ideas as to whats going on?

Have you reset the iPhone by holding down the top and home buttons until you see the Apple logo? If it works after that, a reset fixed it.
Before we continue, please sync with your computer, so that we know the computer has your latest information. In addition please download any photos you have taken with the iPhone to your computer.
Then go to settings -> General -> Reset all settings, and try plotting the directions. Does it work?
If it does, we are going to try a few more steps to try and isolate where your issue might be occurring.
If it doesn't, try restoring the iPhone, and when prompted let it load the data from backup.
Does it work? If so, great. We fixed it with a restore.
If it still isn't working, I would suggest we try a restore, but not load the information from the backup on the computer and see if it starts working.

Turn off landscape mode on the music player

Hello,
Is there away to keep the music player on the iphone from switching to landscape mode? The slightest movement switches it to landscape mode and I can't see the progress bar. (important for my mp3s which are several hours).
I've been all over the settings, so i'm assuming I can't, but I'd thought I'd ask.

Can no longer download itunes music. Says all content will be lost. No longer on original computer. Is there any way I can download from itunes without losing content.

I can no longer download from itunes on ipod. It is not original computer and new computer message from itunes is I will lose all content on ipod if I continue to download. Is there anyway around this? Also have not updated ipod, is that important.

You can transfer you iTunes purchases to your new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
You can only sync to one computer/iTunes library. You can manage music amond different computers by:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
If you wnat to make the new computer your syncing computer you must restore the iPod.
- See if you can make a backup of the iPod on the new computer by right clicking on the iPod in iTunes and select backup. If successsful, restore the iPod from that backup after tansfering your iTunes purchases to the new computer.
- If you can't make a backup copy/move the backup file from the old computer, That file is located:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
You may have to turn off hide hidden files.
If you do not have the backup file you have to restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and sync your stuff to the iPod. You will loss all your app data.

Cannot get turn-by-turn directions via car bluetooth. Do I need to turn off the car radio? I have a 2012 Camry.

Is anyone else having this issue? I've tried Apple Maps and Google Maps. The audio directions do not come out of the car speakers or the phone itself. I have a iPhone 4S and a 2012 Camry. Do I need to turn off the car radio?

I can confirm that Google maps and Navigon give Turn by Turn instructions via Bluetooth in my iOS6 iPhone 5. Maps does not.
I assume this is an error and will be amazed if it's not fixed by release of iOS7 in the Autum.

No, well of course the Google map widget will not work any longer - it was linked to MobileMe and MobileMe went over a year ago now and all info for the widget was stored on the MobileMe servers.
You can add a Google Map to your site, but you need to go directly to Google and enter your details and then copy and paste the resultant code directly into an ordinary html snippet on your web page and then click Apply and you'll have your Google map.
Alternatively, do a Google search for other available maps and you'll need to do the same thing by copying and pasting the code directly into an html snippet and clicking Apply.

Text a location with google maps?

I just bought a iphone yesterday and I am curious if this is possible:
Sending a message to someone (SMS) saying, lets meet at this location, and post a google maps link to that location so that person can click on it and go to that location online through google maps and look up directions on how to get there.
That other person has an iphone too.

There is no URL provided with the Google Maps application but you could do this with Google Maps using Safari but the iPhone does not support copy/cut/paste at the present time anyway.

No Images in Goggle, Google Maps, eBay, YouTube or Amazon Why?

Now I'm very new to the Mac world having just purchased my new 24" iMac with Time Capsule. It's goodbye to my old slow clunky PC.
I thought everything was running smoothly until recently.
It's sorted of started with Google Maps in iPhoto, where the large map no longer displays. The red pins can be seen, but no map. Now when I try looking at Google Maps in Safari, this also no longer displays.
This problem has now spread to other internet sites, Youtube, eBay and Amazon being the most problematic. All 3 sites download without fuss, however no preview images appear. When you say click on a video in Youtube, the video will play, however the preview images down the side remind blank.
Now it's probably a set up error on my behalf, but was hoping someone might be able to guide me thru a couple of fixes.
Hoping someone can help, and remember I'm new to Mac so be kind.

Are you connecting to the internet via a adsl or cable modem/router? If so, you might want to have a look at the following threads...

Trying to add exact spot in places, using Google Maps L/L, but places wont

trying to add exact spot in places, using Google Maps L/L, but places wont find it, just get the spinning circle all the time.
Ive found it exactly in Google maps, and it gives me a long number but I type into my add new place, and it just hangs there till I cancel it.
Anyone help me please?

Thanks I just thought that if Im tagging Geo manually, it would be easier to find in google maps in Safari, then copy and paste it in my places.
So you can only sort f manually do it be finding places, dragging the pin to where you want?

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: The Maps application on iOS5 is, as I understand it, a custom front end for Google Maps that was created by Apple. It should continue to function indefinitely, so long as something does not change on the Google side that would prevent it from accessing their servers. Although I qualified the answer, it doesn't seem likely that Google would do such a thing.

YouTube, Facebook, Google Maps doesn't work - says Flash Player is out of date

I have MacBook Pro since summer last year. In recent days, strange problem occured. When I want to open either YouTube, Facebook or Google Maps a window pops up saying "WARNING! Your Flash Player may be out of date. Please update to continue." (fig. 1) After clicking on OK, Safari shows page, that looks like Adobe Update page (fig. 2). After clicking anywhere, a setup.exe file is downloaded and thats all. After this, nothing else happens. I still cant view these pages and it is pretty annoying. I tried installing, uninstalling and reinstalling Flash Player but it didn't helped. I also searched the web but couldn't find solution. Any help will be highly appreciated.

The update alerts are fake, and are intended to dupe you into installing malware or disclosing private information so that your identity can be stolen.
You might get the alerts when visiting a website that has been hacked. Don't visit the site again. If applicable, notify the site administrator of the problem, but don't send email to an unknown party.
If you get the alerts when visiting more than one well-known website, such as Google, YouTube, or Facebook, then they're almost certainly the result of an attack on your router that has caused you to get false results from looking up the addresses of Internet servers. Requests sent to those sites are redirected to a server controlled by the attacker. It's possible, but less likely, that the DNS server used by your ISP has been attacked, but you should assume that the router is at fault until proven otherwise.
The router's documentation should tell you how to reset it to the factory default state. Usually there's a pinhole switch somewhere in the back. It may be labeled "RESET." Insert the end of a straightened paper clip or a similar tool and press the button inside for perhaps 15 seconds, or as long as the instructions specify.
After resetting the router, quit the web browser and relaunch it while holding down the shift key. From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Do the equivalent if you use another browser. Open the Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.
Then go through the router's initial setup procedure. I can't be specific, because it's different for every model. The key points are these:
1. Don't allow the router to be administered from the WAN (Internet) port, if it has that option. Most do.
2. Set a strong password to protect the router's settings: at least ten random upper- and lower-case letters and digits. Don't use the default password or any other that could be guessed. Any password that you can remember is weak.
3. If the router is wireless, or if you have a wireless access point on the network, use "WPA 2 Personal" security and set a different strong password to protect the network. If the router or access point doesn't support WPA 2, it's obsolete and must be replaced.
During the time the router was compromised, you were redirected to bogus websites. If you ever connected to a secure site and got a warning from your browser that the identity of the server could not be verified, and you dismissed that warning in order to log in, assume that your credentials for the site have been stolen and that the attacker has control of the account. This warning also applies to all websites on which you saw the fake update alerts.
Check the router manufacturer's website for a firmware update.
If you downloaded and installed what you thought was a software update, ask for instructions.

Iweb google map link

I am using iweb (novice) to build my fishing club website, I want to insert a google map to show fishing locations. When I attempt this by following the guide int he help section I get the message that Mobileme is closed..... Cn anyone out there advise me please, is this a permanent situation?

Many thanks, I guess it only came to light when i started building my website. I have solved the issue i think by taking a link from Google maps and hyperlinking it directly.
