Google Maps - Viewing Addresses from Contacts

Hi,
Google Maps works fine when just scrolling around and looking at places, however when trying to search for an address or an address that is linked to your contacts the iphone doesn't seem to be able to find it.
is there a format to put your addresses in so that it will work as i simply can't do it.
I use outlook on my pc to enter addresses and there appear fine on the iphone contacts.

I think this is good advice, because what you might be experiencing is a bug in the UK Google Maps on the iPhone. It seems that if Country has not been specified in your address book then Google Maps assumes the country to be United States and adds it to the search line after the UK postcode. I went through my address book and added UK all my entries that it was missing from and it seems now that Google Maps on a UK spec iPhone does seem to work much better ( routes to/from were particularly problematic before)

if you are not on ios 6, then all you can do is wait. if you have deleted the address from your contact list, then it will live on for a while in your 'recently used' addresses. as you use new addresses, those older ones fall down the list, and eventually fall off altogether (unless you use them again). Have patience, it will go away.
Or do the update....

Can not select an address from Contacts in Maverick

I'm able to access my address book contacts from Mail.
But when Contacts window is open, I can not select a contact (For, CC, Bcc Fields are in grey).
Is there anyone with suggestions?

I am not selecting a group. I am just trying to select a contact, any contact.
But when I click on contacts icon ...
and the address book opens, nothing happens when clicking on a specific contact.
Besides, the fields For (= Para), Cc and Bcc, are not active...

Looking for mileage logger app that gets its addresses from contacts

I'm looking for mileage logger that gets addresses from the iPhone's contacts. I used to have the perfect app, called Tap2Go but it no longer works and isn't supported. I don't need a bunch of other bells & whistles. I just want a logger that will give me the option to look up the address in my contact book. I hate to have to leave the app, open Contacts, find the contact, select & copy the address & go back to the app and paste in the address. Also, need the app to calculate the distance based on the addresses entered.
Somebody must make an app that does this but I downloaded a bunch of loggers & trackers and none offered this feature.

Finally found what I was looking for after wasting $$$ on apps that promised features that they didn’t deliver.

I can’t believe how hard it was to find an app that would do what I needed but the folks at Silverware seem to have carefully thought through what is needed and they give you lots of options and fields that can be toggled on and off. It cost 2.99 and then another .99 to turn on the GPS based calculation.
Well worth it.

Why can't Mail access email addresses from Contacts?

So, here is a typical scenario: I have an email to write to a friend of mine. Being a close friend of mine, his email address is saved in Contacts. I boot up Apple Mail, and create a new email. So far so good. I start typing my friend's name into the "To:" field, but nothing comes up in the auto-search. I remember how his email starts, so I start typing his email in, but once again, nothing comes up. I boot up Contacts, just to be sure, and his email is in there. Finally I copy and paste it into Mail.
WHAT THE ****??? AM I MISSING SOMETHING??
I know that I can look up Contacts from within Mail, but that's not what I'm looking for. I want Mail to automatically start search through my Contacts whenever I start typing into the To: field. But instead, it only searches through my previous recipients? I've also noticed that it doesn't pull up email addresses that were CC'd on emails I've recieved. In order to find those, I have to do a Spotlight search in Mail (which immediately finds the email address and even identifies it as a person), and then copy and paste it from Mail into Mail.
Am I missing some setting? When did the automatic search in the To: field become useless? Did I go into a coma and wake up in a world where Apple hates a positive user experience? Which OS update killed this functionality and why?
Really, any light on the subject or work-arounds would be appreciated. I've tried Postbox, and while the To: search works sensibly there, the program is slow as molassas. It is as awful to use as Mail, just in different ways. I'd switch to browser based email, but I have three addresses, and Gmail only imports POP accounts, one of mine is IMAP only . . . honestly, I'm to the point where I want to just stop using email all together. I have other complaints, but this is the most inexplicable and annoying.
Maybe I'll invest in carrier pidgeons.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Quit Mail.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Relaunch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you'll have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.

Select address from contact in Address Book

Hi Guys
I'm making groups in Address book and when I add a card that has more than one email address, how do I choose one specific address?
I don't want all 3 that some have, nor do I always want the top 'home' address.

Control-click (or right-click) on the group in Address Book, and select "Edit Distribution List..." This will open a second window that lists all the contacts in the group. Each contact is listed along with all of their email addresses, and one of them will be bolded. This is the "default" email address, and the one that will be used when emailing the group.
Change this address by simply selecting another, and it will become the one bolded, and the default.

You cannot downgrade the iOS, there is no supported method.
Google streetview was not lost, Google Maps were removed from iOS6 and replaced with Apple Maps.

I would love to integrate my spreadsheet of addresses or my Address Book with Google Maps.
Is this possible? Somehow?
I take a lot of trips across the country and don't always know when I will be driving by my friends. But if I had a map I could glance at to see where they all are, I would know that I could schedule a lunch with a friend halfway or something like that.
I have heard about MapPoint, but don't know if there is anything like this that is free/affordable/non-MS.

Integrating in Numbers would not be automatic. You'd have to format links to assign to each address.
I've seen plug-ins to use Google maps with Address Book. Try a search on MacUpdate or VersionTracker for Address Book.
I think one of the features for Address Book in Leopard is integration with Google maps.

I've got a detail page for restaurants and would like to have
a "MAP IT"
link that, when clicked, opens a map of the location in a new

preferably using Google maps since I like them (but that's
not critical).
I've got the WebAssist extension but it will only embed the
map and you have
to enter the address to create it. so, my questions are:
1. How can I generate a Google map using fields from my
Recordset (I'd need
at least street and zip but it's probably better to use the
city and state
too)?
2. How can I have it open in a new browser window?
An extension would be best and easiest, but I'm open to any
possibility that
doesn't require a degree in advanced rocket science.
BTW, I have a Google Maps API for this site. I'm using PHP
and MySQL.

Pdf photos are grey. Including Google maps.

I used to print/save as pdf Google maps and Sudokus from the online (Olive software) papers with no problem using my old MacBook 2007. Now I've got a MacBook Pro OS 10.8.3 with Adobe Reader X 10.1.7 and the pdf's are coming up as grey filled rectangles. What's going on? I can't seem to find an answer.

Google Earth will display streets (with names) if you enable the right layers. You can give it a street address and it will go to that location.
