Google mobile search result links lead to downloading db file

Firefox mobile on Galaxy Sii running rooted stock 2.3.5
Google search takes me to google mobile results. Clicking on any result usually causes a popup "Complete action using DB Text Editor", and downloading of a file.
If I change google settings to the classic view, instead of mobile, links function correctly.

Thanks for the suggestion. In my case, the problem is Google Mobile/Symbian web browser-specific. The phone in general can access WLAN connections without any problems. I have tried all possible adjustments to both Google Mobile and Symbian web browser I can think of. I'm pretty sure the problem lies at the Google-server end of things: something about the way the search result links are formatted provides insufficient data to the Symbian web browser. It's strange that going through the cached page version to the current version works (as described above). Nokia s60 users experienced a similar (but not identical) problem in May of 2011, but someone at Google noticed the situation described on the Google Mobile Forum, and had the problem corrected. No such luck this time, I'm afraid. It may be that the s60v2 is getting to be too old for Google to bother with. It's a shame, but at least using Vlingo (or the runaround with the cached pages) there is a workaround.

Adobe Reader for mobile search result is INCORRECT. It is inconsistent with the search results from other PDF reader apps.
I have a spreadsheet file converted into a PDF. Doing a search on the document using a Adobe Reader on a PC shows 14 search results. Opening the same document on the Google Drive app also shows 14 search results. But when opening the same file to the Adobe Reader for Android, it only shows two results. (See screenshots (left/first is from Adobe Reader for Android)).
My device is an Xperia Z2 with Android 4.4.4.

    Hello Mehwish,
It seems that Adobe Reader for mobile has issues only to this file. I have not thoroughly tested it with other PDF files though, but just this 1 out of the 5 files I have tried had issues. Attached herewith is the file I used the search with. Sent a copy to your email [email protected] too.
Note that the file was made from a spreadsheet in a PC and then saved as PDF from the same spreadsheet application.

  • Have search results link open in same window

    Hello,
I'm looking at the FlexUI stuff and wondering before I delve too deeply... that and my Portal is currently not cooperating.  How can I make it so that when the user clicks on a search results link, it shows in the same window (as opposed to opening a new window)?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi there,
we had the same issue - I opened an OSS and got following reply :

I have checked from my development colleague and confirmed that
this parameter is not supported currently and development has recently
no plans to support this feature.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused here.

Can you believe this ? I don't, as this parameter has been around since SP12 or so and still there is no official note regarding this issue.

  • Low resolution of Google Image Search results in Firefox Android

I'm new to Android, and I've noticed that Firefox brings up lower resolution Google Image search results in comparison to the same image search on Chrome for Android. When I click on an image result in Firefox it gives me the option of going through a low resolution slide show of all the image results, or clicking to see a single full size image. But that takes me out of the slide show, and then I have to backtrack to continue on with the low resolution slide show.
Chrome allows you to see the full resolution images within a slide show, allowing you to swipe from one full res image to the next.
Is there a way to get a slide show of the full size image results in Firefox Android without having to jump through all the hoops to see the full size images?
So far this is the only drawback I've seen with Firefox Android. I would much rather use it vs. Chrome because of Firefox's ability to use plug ins, especially adblock plus.

Perhaps I didn't write my post clearly enough. A Google image search on Chrome produces image results (via slideshow) of superior quality than an identical slideshow on Firefox. Your answer implies that Google sends higher resolution images to Chrome than it does to Firefox. I find that hard to believe.
Chrome apparently renders its Google image search slideshows using full size images, while Firefox does not. Rather than providing the full size images within a slideshow, Firefox seems to use lower resolution thumbnails, then forces you to click on a "Full-size image" button for each image that you want to see clearly. I was hoping there was a way around that.
My original question was if there was a way to increase the quality of the slideshow results in Firefox so you don't have to click on the image to open it up at full res., then backtrack to get back into the slideshow, then do the same thing all over again for each and every image you want to see clearly in full size. On Firefox you have to do all these extra steps that you don't have to do in Chrome. So, based on the answers so far I guess I guess that's just the way it is and there's no way around it.

  • Google Image Search Results

Hey, I'm trying to get started pulling google image search
results into a flash document so that I can start animating them
with actionscript. Does anyone know of a good tutorial or sample
for this? I'm working on it by just diving into the code, but the
javascript and the google api are a little over my head. thanks.
    I'm working in as 2.0

    Hi cwallentin,
Thank you for your patience. I did some checking and this is what I’ve found out. The Google search capabilities built into the app use the native Google strict filtering for legal reasons and to maintain the app content rating “Everyone”. This in combination with only showing images marked as available for “commercial reuse” will limit your results with certain searches.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • Google search results link back to Google's front page

My Firefox 9.01 under Ubuntu Linux 10.04 seems to have a problem with the links in the results (hits) from Google. When I click on a link, I am directed to Google's front page.
    Example:
I enter the search phrase 'occupy wall street demands' into Google Search. One of the hits I get is Wikipedia's entry on Occupy Wall Street. The URL is en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupy_Wall_Street
When I click on this hit, I come to a page with this URL:
    http://www.google.com/webhp?emsg=NCSR&noj=1&ei=oAosT9jsCcL64QS2xLCrDg
    which shows Google's front page.
However, if I right click on the link ans select "Open link in new window", then Firefox correctly opens the new window with the Wikipedia article.
Other browser on my computer does not have the same problem. I have also emptied Firefox's cache and it did not solve the problem.
    What's going on here?

I noticed this happens less often (or not at all, maybe) when you are not logged in with your Google account. Are you logged in to Google, or maybe Google+ even?
When I'm logged in to Google+ and click a search result after using the searchbar in Firefox, I get to see the Google homepage. Clicking the Back button brings me to the page I visited before using the search bar, not back to the search results.
It's definitely an annoying workaround to log out just to be able to click search results, but it could help isolating the problem.
Also, you can open the search results by middle-clicking them and opening them in a new link. Not a solution either, but less annoying than restarting the browser. ;)

  • People Search results links are incorrect?

    Hello Everyone,
Just setup People Search on SP2013 SP1 (July 2014 CU).  I have not used it in the past.
I am finding that after I search for a staff member the results show fine.  However if I click on the user link to go to their MySite page I get the "Sorry, something went wrong" page with "User not found".
When comparing the URLs I see this difference:
    Url from search result -
    https://.../Person.aspx?accountname=DOMAIN%255Cusername
Url to the users MySite -
    https://.../Person.aspx?accountname=DOAMIN%5Cusername
It appears is adding a 25 in the url preventing the "\"?
Can anyone confirm if this is a bug in SharePoint 2013 SP1 (July 2014 CU)?
I came across these articles which leads to think so.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/17005728-3e68-49f5-8882-85cc8260e53b/people-search-error?forum=sharepointgeneral

Yeah, that's a known issue caused by the MS14-022 security patch.
It is hoped that it's in the September CU according to Stefan's comment in the link below:

  • Google adsense search results not showing up

I have a google adsense search engine that is supposed to search my site and post google ads at the top of the query.
I copied and pasted the html into iWeb
The search widget seems fine: http://www.onlinehighschool.org/SchoolSearch.html (the black one)
But the separate page for results doesn't have anything even though the html was pasted there:
try a search on the hyperlink to see.
    Any leads?

    FollowUp - Problem Solved.
Just in case anyone else was experiencing the same issues, I pinpointed it down to a corrupted iTunes preference file - com.apple.iTunes.plist.
I created a new user account, lauched iTunes and it worked fine, no black drop down window appearing, so I went back into my account and deleted this and relaunched iTunes and the drop down window showed all the search results again, not the black window as seen in my example image.
    Hope this helps others!

  • Firefox won't load google image search results

Firefox won't load google search results. It will load the page of results with the thumbnails etc. but if you click any of them, just a loading spinning icon appears on the tab and it never loads.
    I have tried:
Both logged in and out of google account,
All other areas of google work with no problems (news, shopping etc.),
Site working perfectly in Internet Explorer,
    Running firefox in safemode,
Manually disabling all plugins and addons,
    Clearing the cache and cookies,
Opening results in new tab just results in white page with web address but it never loads,
Restarting both my PC and router.
It's not been working for at least the past 6 hours. Last time I used it was about a week ago and it was working fine then. I've not noticed any problems on any other sites this week that I can recall.

Updating firefox to version 17.0 appears to have solved this.

  • Google web search results "not right" in Firefox

I'm having a problem using Google web search (both toolbar and straight from google.com) in Firefox. When I search for a keyword, lets say a business name, and expect it to bring up the business's website, the results include videos, some blogs, news, etc. Nothing from the business's main website are included in the search results. There are no problems with Google web search in IE or Chrome.
Here's a specific example: Search "Mozilla Firefox" in Google using Firefox there are 31,600,000 results with the top 10 being random websites about Firefox browsers. When I search "Mozilla Firefox" in Google using IE, there are only 130,000,000 (4 times more), with the top results being www.mozilla.org/, and other "main" Mozilla sites.
I've run all the recommended Malware/Antivirus fixes, reinstalled Firefox, updated the few add-ons/plug-ins I have, and made sure that Google search settings are the exact same for all browsers. Nothing is working.
Is anyone else having this issue or have a guess to what may be causing it? I've spent a few hours trying to fix it and at this point am ready to give up on Firefox, which is (was) my go to browser.

hello, google is tracking & personalizing your search history even when you're not signed in - maybe you'll have to opt-out or clear all cookies from google.com & see if the results change...

  • Thumbnail images in Google's search results?? (Using Adobe Muse)

    Hi there,
I've been hunting around a lot of pages (including webmaster tools) My question is simple, but the answers don't seem to be!
Does anyone have an easy and fast way, of adding a thumbnail that will show up next to a website search result in Google?
This is obviously a site designed and uploaded directly from Adobe Muse.
Some advice would be very appreciated!
    Thanks

Thank you kind Sir.. I guess that's that idea screwed then!

  • Issue while navigating through a search result link

    Hello Experts,
We are facing a strange issue in our IC Web Client UI.
After an account is confirmed, and a wild card search is done on the Product Search work centre, a number of results are displayed in the list view below ( which extend to more than one page). The search result has a particular field 'Generic ID' which is a navigational link, and further filters the search results when clicked on it.
The issue is, if the Generic ID is clicked from one of the serach result in page 1 or 2, it takes the control to the next stage filtered search result page 1. But if the Generic ID is clicked from any other page other than the first two, it takes the control to the next stage filtered search results page 2.
I have debugged both the scenarios but there's no difference in the behavior of both.
Any pointers to why this is happening or how it can be solved will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Richa

    Hi Prasenjit,
    Thanks for your inputs.
I've debugged the scenarios, but I've been unable to locate any pointers to the current page, or the one being navigated to.
An OSS in this case can't be raised as the link which is being clicked is a customization. Hence, anything after that would probably be because of the customizations made.
Any pointers to where should I concentrate while debugging to find the current page number?
    Rgds,
    Richa

  • How do you create a "back to search results" link in PHP MySQL

Can someone just explain the basic principle behind this one:
I have a search facility which reveals a search results page - a  list of products. After clicking on a product you then go on to another menu of product images which you may (or may not) trawl through. At present when a user is finished they have to click the back button until they get back to the search results (which could be ten clicks or more).
I would like to create a link on the product detail page and product images page that simply allowed the user to "Go back to search results".
So how do I capture the search results url+ parameters to allow me to do that?
Can anyone give me a pointer or two?
    Cheers
    Dave

Okay, I'm pretty sure I can figure that one out. But before I get stuck in this question springs to mind.
I may be being a bit daft here but at present the search form is set up to deal with the $_POST variables from the form on that page when they are submitted. If I send users back to that page armed with the session variables (which now have the same values as the original $_POST variables how can I get the page to automatically use the session variables instead of the $_POST variables it is waiting for?

  • How to make Google custom search results appear on a new page?

Anybody got any idea how to make the search results appear on a separate page? I'm using the Google custom search to get generated code to place on my pages, after providing some 'guidance' information on the look and feel of it. Normally, Google will provide you with a few options to choose from to determine how your results will look and by default one would choose the "two page" option whilst going thru the setup process. One page for the search box on your own page and one for the results page.
However, if you don't want a 'google-generated' results page but want the layout that's in line with the look of your site AND have the search box already on there for any repeat searches it becomes more tricky. I tried doing it one way, which I found one a blog tutorial but so far no sucess. The 'search box' code that I inserted onto one of my pages to test didn't show up the search box at all in preview or the live page...
Anybody got any generic code that can be adapted (that they know works) or know of any tutorial that explains how to achieve this? Preferably Google related, as I'm using its custom search.
In addition, I believe that recently Google have deprecated the use of iframe in its search results pages so for anybody that was using an earlier version of this facility it may no longer work properly and hence the solution might have to be modified. Not an expert, so not sure how much this fact will affect the final code, just a thought.
Any ideas/solutions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

hello adrianm12, this should be possible through the metro settings ("search"). also see [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=941292 bug 941292]...
