Google photos and facebook crash on Xperia Z1
Hi everyone,
I'm having a weird problem with video streaming on facebook. I use google photos to play videos on facebook, but sometimes it just crashes all of a sudden. My "home" and "back" buttons won't work and i would have to reboot my phone. Is it a problem with Google photos, Facebook app or is it a bug in Z1? Let me know your thoughts.

Check if you're able to clear the default setting for the Google photos app and try launching your Facebook videos using our player or any other video player app. Just to check if this could be caused by the Google photos app.

You may want to do this only for the current session, then reset the preference back to "true" and check back with the site to see whether it's been fixed, since this is a global setting that exposes you on all sites, not just the one you care about. -

Photos and camera crash after ios5 update
After updating to ios5, I can no longer access my camera roll, not take a picture. When I hit camera roll photos crashes. When I take a picture it says saving, then crashes. I have tried turning off the apps and reopening them. I have tried restarting/resetting. I have tried turning it off and letting it sit for 3 days. I tried accessing my camera roll through other apps like facebook, twitter, photoshop but it crashes. I tried to access my camera roll from iphoto and import my pictures but my iphone no longer comes up in iphoto. I feel as though that restoring it may be the only option left, but I do not want to lose my photos and there's still no guarantee that photos and camera will work after restoring. Anyone else ever hear of this before? Help!

Mavericks will not sync Apple Contacts with Google, Linkedin, and Facebook?
I just upgraded to Mavericks. Here is what I find shocking...
1. Mavericks will NOT sync Apple Contacts with Google Contacts and vice-versa.
2. During the upgrade, Mavericks linked some of my Apple Contact cards with Google Contacts, but not all of them. It need to be clarified that linking is not syncing. Worse, it corrupted data, and deleted some of the contacts on Google Contacts.
3. Similarly, Apple Contacts will not sync with Linkedin or Facebook Contacts.
4. When I contacted Apple, Level 1 support had not idea and assumed that adding a Google Account with automatically sync Apple Contacts with Google Contacts as it did in OS Mountain Lion. Level 2 support did not have much of an idea either, but called me this morning to say that the matter has been escalated, and confirmed that OS X Maverick does NOT sync Apple Contacts with Google Contacts.
CAUTION before upgrading to Mavericks:
5. Your Google Contacts / Android devices will not be updated by Apple Contacts, and vice-versa.
6. Your Facebook / Linkedin contats will not be updated by Apple Contacts, and vice-versa.
The workaround:
7. Before upgrade, ensure that your Mountain Lion or earlier address book in synced with Google Contacts.
8. After upgrade, go to Contacts > Preferences > General > Default Account, and choose your Google Account as your default account. You will now add New Contact (or update existing Google Contacts) in Google Contacts, which your android devices can sync with. You will also see your Google Contacts in Apple Contacts. However, Apple Contacts will NOT sync with Google Contacts and vice-versa.
Welcome to Mavericks...With all due respect @McFly_Marty, kindly do not mislead readers. As funny as it may sound, but you have been taken for a royal ride by Apple Support. Keep in mind that the tough taskmaster Steve Jobs, is no longer there, and it is no surprise that Apple’s innovations are sliding.
You probably have chosen Google as your default account under "Contacts > Preferences > General > Default Account”.
Now, when you add New Contact (or update existing Google Contacts) in Google Contacts, you will also see your Google Contacts in Apple Contacts. However, Apple Contacts will NOT sync with Google Contacts and vice-versa.
Try disabling your Google account in Apple Contacts, and all your new contacts are no longer in Apple contacts. Therefore Apple contacts is not syncing with Google Contacts.
Therefore, read the following from my original post again.

Trouble with i photo and Facebook
i photo says my photo has been published to Facebook but there is no photo in the Facebook album I have selected to upload it to. Even in the info for the photo in i photo it says it has been shared on faceook. The facebook album itself says it has been updated so many seconds ago but no photo is showing. What is happening?
Afaik, it is not possible in iPhoto. None of the book templates has a page layout for a full size photo on the back of the book. Right now, I only can check in iPhoto '11, but I have not seen this option in any earlier version.
Aperture can do full-size photos or spreads on the back and front of a book, but not iPhoto. -
Domains such as yahoo, google, youtube, and facebook do not load
Beginning sometime this past week, domains yahoo.com, google.com, youtube.com, facebook.com, bing.com either load extremely slow (10-15 mins) or not at all. It also affects many other sites because they "ping" off of google-analytics. I did not knowingly install any new software and made no other obvious changes. This occurs in Safari and Firefox (v. 3.6.28). It does not appear to be network problem as I can easily access those domains from a PC on the same WiFi network. I have run Clam XV and deleted a few phishing files in e-mail it found but that did not help. I have read about settings in PeerGuardian or LittleSnitch in other forums or discusions but I don't believe I have any of those (no results when searching spotlight). Any help or ideas is much appreciated.
I had exactly the same issue. Carolyn Samit replied with a suggestion that I uninstall the Flash plug-in and install a new Flash plug-in. She also mentioned a couple of other ideas. It seemed rather complicated and I wanted to ask further questions, but could fine no provision on the page allowing me to reply further.
In any case, I poked around in the discussions a bit more and found this thread. I tried the Configure IPv6 suggestion and that immediately did the trick! Thanks so, so much.
In the meantime, I had managed to use the crippled Safari browser to download Firefox and it worked perfectly. Now both browsers are on fire!

after uploading the update to my iphone, I cant post pictures to my facebook account from the photos on my phone. it says this app does not have access to my photos or videos. "I can enable it in Privacy settings", but I dont know how. any ideas?
settings - facebook - then sign in. then go to settings - privacy - facebook - then enable what feature you want.

I can't crop/edit a photo in Facebook because when I touch the screen it just zooms the whole screen in and out
I am trying to update my profile picture and cover photo and Facebook advises to crop the area of the photo you want and select the area you want by dragging the area of photo , but every time I touch the screen it just zooms the whole page in and out and I can't turn it off :-(If your email account offers a webmail access, I suggest checking the webmail - log in to your account using the webmail access, and I predict you will see all those "unread" emails there and can dispose of them from there.
This happens because the iPhone that went bad, when reading those emails, did not remove them from your email provider's servier. -
My daughter's Macbook Air Safari (using Mac OS X 10.6.8) won't allow her to connect to Google, Yahoo and Facebook. It will for some reason allow for Bing searches and connections to specific other websites. The wifi seems to be connected fine. We have done the "reset Safari" excercise and updated for the most recent software updates. Also did the good old shut down and restart but no go. Does anyone have any other suggestions or seen this problem before?

installed by accident or by intent; usually if someone goes to a
web site where questionable downloads of software are free,
there may be (included, added to) the packet you get, adware
or perhaps even malware.
So, if this is the case, the symptoms you say are part of this
experience may be related to an adware or other badware
running in the background. A 'cleanmymac' or 'mackeeper'
can also mess up a Mac computer, & they are not advised.
Several posts to the ASC discussions are about these kinds
of things and many point back to a user going to some web
site and downloading something. A click can do it.
A way to help find some evidence of certain kinds of add-ons
(outside of looking into the Browser's add-ons and see about
deleting those that relate to odd behavior, or badware) such
as adware, one could get and use this free utility & get a
report of general system info, and then post it online to see
if someone can spot some of the characteristics adware or
other malware may have included in the system.
There is another way to get a more lengthy report than etrecheck
as Linc Davis has posted, that uses more detailed effort on the
part of the user, in order to get a larger fuller report.
This is the short and easy way to look for a few clues that may
be addressed through using advice in TheSafeMac guide.

"Cannot log into Web service" error when tying to use Wifi to connect to Google Drive or Facebook
We have a relatively new Canon Powershot s120. Up until a few days ago, it worked just fine to connect to the Wifi and upload pictures to both Google Drive and Facebook. Now, every time I try to connect, I get a message "Cannot log into Web service"
I have already tried removing Google Drive from the Camera and re-adding it. I went into the Canon Image Gateway website and disconnected and then reconnected the service. That didn't do anything.
Would really appreciate any tips anyone has.

You have to log in under your current user name & password and agree to them and it works again. I spent a frustrating hour doiung this until I found out that this had happened! -
My IPhoto is no longer allowing me to pulbish photos to Facebook. When I select photos and Facebook, the "Publish" command is not active.
Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
* Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode.

* In [[Private Browsing]] mode all cookies are session cookies that expire if that session is ended, so websites won't remember you.
* Do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"

IOS8 Ford Sync Issues and Apps Crashing!
Hi all,
I saw that there are others that are experiencing the same issues, but I can't reply for some reason, so in an effort to get Apple on board with fixing the issue. I am starting a new thread - Apologies for the length, but I am really annoyed...
My phone is syncing okay via bluetooth in my 2013 Ford Explorer, as far as actual calls go, but I typically have to plug it in to my system to have access to voice control for music, a consistent issue between the MS operating system in the car and Apple. Anyway, I have noticed several issues over the course of the last few updates. 1st, they (I am not sure if "they" means, Apple or Microsoft) finally corrected the read text feature, and then MS updated the car operating system and I can no longer use this feature. Super frustrating when we are trying to be safe... but a minimal issue. Then, the alerts won't come through if the phone is plugged in, only when unplugged via BT. Again, not a huge problem while driving, but annoying.
THEN the real music issues began. I started noticing that the music title was correct, but the album cover was way off, some days it is all the way off, and other days it is less. After previous update, when I plug my phone in to the USB port, it will start at the beginning of my songs list. The most annoying part about this, is that when I close apps, I am very careful about keeping my playlist open, as the first song I have is kind of annoying. I know Tiff, DELETE the song, but there is a place for it depending on my mood. Anyway, I digress... I assume this is another app crash issue. Now, with iOS8, when I plug it in, the car states it is on autoplay, but nothing happens, I have to hit play it on on my phone... which has crashed, AGAIN, so I can't use the fast play option from a locked screen due to the crash, so I have to search for my play list. Becuase of the MS/Apple issue, I can't use the hands free feature via BT, becuase of the apps crashing it has to "Download" my playlists... but ONLY if it is plugged in as previously noted. So, while I realize I sound spoiled, the point is, the reason I bought this particular model is to get the My Ford Touch. I want to be able to use the safety features... And the reason I stay with Apple is because I am loyal, and the thought of getting my music on another device stresses me out... I am already having issues transferring from a PC to my new iMac... PS I carry 2 phones for work purposes, with 2 different providers, and both are experiencing the issues, not to mention my husband's too.
Now, to face the app crashes... It is getting worse every day, most apps are constently crashing. The Weather app takes a really long time to load current weather and Facebook crashes so many times while it is loading it isn't even worth checking unless you have time to load it over and over. Beta needs to be really tested and tested by real hard core users to get this figured out PRIOR to launch. I would expect some small issues, but these seem like a lot. Fix the crashing, that will solve problem 1 of the music not starting where left off. and Fix the auto start when plugged into devices. I have checked all of the settings I can think of and nothing.
Finally, the entire phone freezes all the time. multiple times daily I have to do a hard start...Try shutting your iPhone totally off. Then wait 60 seconds and turn back on.
