Google redirects to google

When I click on a item in the google searchlist, google doesn't open the site!
Google always redirects to google itself!

Try shutting it down, press and hold power and home button until you get a slider that says power off then slide it.  Then restart it.  Same thing happened to my IPad2 and this worked for me.

  • How to remove the Google Redirect Virus on my gf's pc? Nothing seems to work!

    Hi Guys,
    So I was trying to save my girlfriend's pc from this Google Redirect Virus (the one where you are redirected to some random commercial site when you click on a link in google), but I am having real trouble. Of course I want to solve this and be her hero, so could someone please give me some advice?
    I've tried everything. The TDSS-killer, the changing of the host file, I've downloaded several anti-malware or spyware programmes, but nothing helps. I can recommend everybody with this problem to download the NoScript Add-On, so that at least you don't really go to the commercial website, but are redirected (after being redirected) back to google.
    This is what I know:
    - When I tried to solve something in MSConfig, I noticed that there where two weird programmes that started when I turned on her pc: the first is (the virus!) SetWallpaper.cmd. I can't seem to find this anywhere else on her pc and I do not know if it is connected, but I need to destroy it somehow. The second is some process called: 'fyhgylwg', and it's task is to 'rundll32 C:\User\GF'sName\Roaming\winsta8.dll, Clxeigube'. The reason this caught my attention is because the task isn't sent by Microsoft, but by 'Unkown' and I found it's name really weird.
    - No anti-virus programme seems to solve the problem
    - I haven't tried Combo-Fix yet, because I do not know the name of the file that is causing the problem
    Please help me and my girlfriend out! What can we do?
    Boris

  • I have a Google redirect virus which redirects every hit I click on in every search engine, in every browser, to a completely unrelated website. No anti-virus software I've tried can get rid of it. Help.

    ''Locked due to age. If you still have a problem, please [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new start a new thread]''
    Basically the Google redirect virus is caused by a trojan with rootkit capability, and so whenever I click on a link on Google, it redirects me to a completely unrelated site. I think I got it on there because of downloading pirated software (patches, cracks, keygens) to avoid paying: so stealing software didn't pay off :(
    I know you guys aren't specialised in internet security, but can you help?

    There seems to be more than one, possibly several malware objects that can cause Google search redirects in both Firefox and Explorer... some result in multiple infected files and are self- regenerating. I tried rootkit, gooredfix, tdskiller and every other tool I could download... several times I was certain it was gone but it always came back! If you want to kill this thing for good, combofix is the only thing that removes ALL of the infected elements. Combofix takes a long time to run (circa 30 min?) and requires some user input and also messes with your system settings a little but it is VERY thorough and it does work and best of all, it's free.

  • Firefox 17.0.1 in Vista Home Premium, svc pak 2, experiencing Google redirects to spam pages

    As referenced in a now closed thread on this site that refers to XUL Runner & XUL cache and certain registry entries as the cause. I am experiencing a very high percentage of redirects to spam pages when I use Google search in Firefox, but not IE. How can I stop this?
    I have searched Firefox extensions and plugins for any files similar to those mentioned in the articles, or anything similar, or anything that looks suspicious, with no results. I have searched the registry for entries such as those described, or similar, or otherwise suspicious, also with no results.
    What I am experiencing though, sounds like exactly what is being discussed. Google support has a web page for reporting redirects like this, which makes me thing it may be a known issue?
    http://support.google.com/websearch/bin/request.py?contact_type=reporting_malware&hl=en&page=ts.cs&ts=1209905&1209905=1209909&1209909=1210107

    Google redirect virus is challenging to get rid of due to its capability to hide deep inside the operating system as well as its potential to eliminate traces and footprints on how it got inside the computer. As of nowadays, not a single security application in the industry can guarantee 100% protection from this infection. This explains, why your pc got infected even having a safety software installed.
    Some computer users know that Google redirect virus is just not a virus, but in fact a rootkit. Rootkit infections unlike other virus, spyware or trojan infections are really difficult to get rid of. In most cases, google redirect virus rootkit is seen related to Trojans which makes it a lot more deadly. In accordance with a 2011 report, Google redirect virus have currently infected 45,00,000 computers worldwide, out of which 1/3rd is from US.
    Some symptoms that you are having this virus on your PC:
    * Browsers freeze
    * Pages not loading at all
    * Google/Bing/Yahoo searches redirected to malicious site/s
    * Some programs won’t respond
    * Internet connection brakes itself
    * Terrible adds popping on visited webpage/s
    If you have these symptoms on your Computer, I suggest using safe and respected software program as the 1 I've provided below. The Google redirect virus removal tool deals with malware infections that lead to Google redirect virus symptoms and are so difficult to detect and fix.

  • How do I remove google redirect virus??? I can't get onto any sites that will offer help - as they're all "redirected!!"

    I've got a GOOGLE REDIRECT VIRUS, and am not able to enter any websites that will give removal information - as I'm being REDIRECTED! I need to know the name of the file to remove...and where/how!!! Any/ALL internet inquiries for assistance are....being redirected/hijacked. HELP.
    == This happened ==

    == yesterday.

    This malware is actually in your add-ons. Go to Tools in your browser and click Add-ons and see if there are any add-ons that you didn't install. Mine was called '''XUL Cache''' that added itself. I uninstalled it and the problem was gone but the addon can have different names.

  • Getting URL redirects from Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" Search

    Hello all! I'm working on my final project for my intermediate programming class but I've hit a bit of a snag. This project is a "do whatever interests you, as long as it incoporates what we've learned this semester" type of project. (My personal favorite type of programming project!) I have a significant amount of code already complete, but here's my problem:
    To put it simply, my program:
    1) Takes a list of movie names
    2) Gets the movie poster from Wikipedia
    3) Saves the poster images to a folder
    4) Creates an HTML file, so I can see a visual representation of every movie on the list (btw, how do you like my idea?).
    I'm using (what I think to be) a very clever system of searching with Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" search (using detailed search terms such as "air+force+one+movie+wikipedia" that will, more than likely, always take me to the right page (if it exists))...
    Basically, my getPic(String url) method is now throwing an exception when I try to search the page that Google redirects me to, and I'm guessing it might be because the code is trying to search the "I'm Feeling Lucky" redirect page, instead of the page it is supposed to redirect to.
    I get the following error:
    10000 BC
    A connection to http://www.google.com/search?btnI=1&q=10000+bc+movie+wiki could not be established.
    java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 403 for URL: http://www.google.com/search?btnI=1&q=10000+bc+movie+wiki
         at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(Unknown Source)
         at java.net.URL.openStream(Unknown Source)
         at GetWikiPiki.getPic(GetWikiPiki.java:44)
         at MovieList.makeMovieList(MovieList.java:109)
         at MakeMovieList.main(MakeMovieList.java:13)(Etc, with all the movies giving the same exception.)
    If my guess is correct, could someone please inform me on how to either:
    a) Follow the redirection from Google to the Wikipedia page or
    b) Obtain the URL which the Google search will redirect me to.
    Preferably b, so I can program it not to need to recreate each movie search every time the program runs.
    Or if you have another idea of what it could be, please feel free to make suggestions.
    Thanks a lot,
    Derek

    When I tried printing the source of, for example, http://www.google.com/search?btnI=1&q=10000+bc+movie+wiki it gave me the source code to the Wikipedia 10,000 BC page with no errors at all.
    Does this mean that it could be something wrong in my code and not Google?
    Here is the code I'm using in the particular section that throws an exception:
          * Gets the image address of a movie poster from Wikipedia via
          * parsing the passed-in URL.
          * @param url The website address (URL) of a Wikipedia article containing a movie poster.
          * @return The first occurrence, in "picture_name.jpg" format, of an
          * image whose address contains "http://" and ".jpg".
    public String getPic(String url) {
              try {
                   URL connection = new URL(url);
                   InputStream in = connection.openStream();
                   Scanner console = new Scanner(in);
                   while(console.hasNext()) {
                        String temp = console.next();
                        if(temp.contains("http://") && temp.contains(".jpg")) {
                             String temp2 = temp.replace("src", "").replace("=", "").replace("\"", "");
                             return temp2;
              catch(IOException e) {
              System.out.println("A connection to " + url + " could not be established.");
              e.printStackTrace();
              return null;
         }{code}

  • Google Redirect Virus Removal

    So essentially, it seems that somehow my PC has picked up a version of the Google redirect virus. It is only affecting Firefox, and it seems to be a bit stealthier than previous versions. Essentially, 70% of the time I try and click on a search result (only the first one clicked per search), it will redirect me to a php script on a different server. It seems the script analyzes what I searched and attempts to redirect me to a phishing site that has related information about my search e.g. realgamerz.net and other shady URLs. I assumed it was a registry issue, but despite using all of the below virus/malware scanners nothing has been found. Is it possible one of my plugins has been compromised and that it has something to do with the Firefox software/Firefox plugins? Your advice is much appreciated.
    1) Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 Professional
    2) HijackThis
    3) SuperAntiSpyware
    4) Spybot S&D
    If there are other recommended malware scanners you think I should try I would be happy to do so.

    I also disabled printer helper and it totally worked! Thank you.

  • Google redirect virus

    I've been hit with the google redirect virus! Right now, it's just MySpace that's affected, but I've read in other PC forums that it can affect one's ability to surf all websites. I ran iAntivirus and it can't find anything. I'm not in the States, and my software purchasing is limited to what I can download off the internet (otherwise, I must buy Chinese language versions of everything, and my Chinese is nowhere near good enough to take that leap.) Any suggestions or others who have run into this? It seems to happen no matter what web browser I use.

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
    This is not a virus issue, just poor or twisted site coding.
    Sometimes adding DNS server codes to the Network panel eliminates these types of problems.
    Usually, those types of messages are remedied by adding DNS server codes to your Network settings (Firefox has its own way of connecting to your IP).
    To add the codes, go to System Preferences>Network. Click on your internet connection - either Ethernet or Airport, then "advanced". In the DNS panel enter on separate lines the following OpenDNS codes: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Select "OK", then "apply".
    In the Network panel, if Ethernet or Airport (whichever you use) is not at the top of the list, click on the "gear icon" at the left bottom. Select "set service order". When the help box opens drag your connection type to the top of the list. Select "apply" when complete.
    Restart Safari.

  • Google Redirect Virus Fix - How to Locate Internet Temp Folder?

    Hi - I am hoping to remove the google redirect virus and, following instruction from an eHow article, I need to delete both my computer and internet temp folders, and then establish new, empty folders for temps.
    I assume that "internet temp folder" means there is an actual folder for my firefox temp files? If so, is this found within the browser settings? Or, is it something that resides on the computer?
    Sorry for my ignorance ... this virus is sending me into entirely new levels of the learning curve...

  • Iphone google redirect virus

    I have iPhone 4S and using chrome app. Google recently give me a lot of problem, it redirect to me to some website I never heard before such as http://corp.kaltura.com/. It was different website couple days ago. I tried on Safari, both app will have problem at the same time. If I can use google, Safari and chrome will both work, if google has problem, both will have problem (google only). I tried on search box or type google.com, clear all the histories and cookies. Could not solve problem.
    Sometimes turn off the iphone then turn it back on will temperately solve the problem, but it come back again. Yahoo search engine has no problem at all. Anyone know how to fix that
    PS: sometimes I get google authentication requirement, but this redirect issue is not link to that. They are happen at two different times

    I've had the same problem all year. I've reset my router, changed the DNS to OpenDNS, cleared the iPhones, and iPads caches & histories etc. The problem still occurs intermittently.
    It always effects all iOS devices on my wifi network but never the desktop macs or PCs.  Changing over to cell phone data fixes it, changing back to wifi causes the problem again.  Sometimes Safari on the iPhone will redirect www.google.com, or a search in the upper right google box, to a blank page that says "Hello World!" other times it redirects to an error page, other times it redirects to a Yahoo! developer's page full of code. Usually it fixes itself within 20 minutes but sometimes it does this for several hours. Rebooting the phone or iPad doesn't fix the problem either.
    Any other ideas?

  • After removing force https can I get Firefox to quit redirecting me from google classic to google SSL?

    I was using Force https, and have since removed it. I am being redirected, however, to google SSL and cannot load the google classic page. I do not want to use SSL (https://encrypted.google.com). How do I get Firefox to direct me to the correct website as I enter it (www.google.com)? I have tried clearing my cache and cookies, as well as reading suggestions on google's forums. Help please? Sounds like you picked up some re-direct Malware.

  • 'MacInstall' Google redirect trojan - how do I uninstall?

    Hi,
    I think I have a Google redirect trojan called 'macinstall'. I am on Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 and it happens on every search in safari 7.0.1 and firefox even though I have reset all the basic preference settings (which were changed) and deleted an extension called macinstall. I have tried changing the DNS to an open one (208.67.222.222) as this was suggested in another forum, but this hasn't worked and I have also deleted a proxy redirect which I could see although had no idea if that might help. Has been a problem since I downloaded 'Paintbrush', hence why I think it must be a trojan and given its name it's likely I did let it install. I can't find any mention of this trojan online, which may partly be because it is redirecting my browsers...
    For example: when I type 'test' into the google toolbar I get:
    'http://search.installmac.com/results.html?c=5&v=insMac&q=test', then:
    'search.conduit.com/Results...' which is too quick for me to copy, then:
    'http://www.bing.com/search?q=test&pc=conduit&ptag=A23C4503E21E14808B6F&form=CONM HP&conlogo=CT3210127'
    which gives a rubbish bing search full of nonsense, but not full of illegal/ dodgy sites as far as I can tell which the other redirects seem to do.
    I am also pretty sure my whole system is running a lot more slowly. I am currently running the free trial of MacScan to see if it can find anything but it's only picked up tracking cookies so far.
    Please help! Idiot-proof instructions please.

    When using both the google app and google search in Safari on my iPad2, I have run into a redirect problem.  The nav bar will have the initial website for a split second and then will redirect to another site.  It happens that today it redirected to a site with inappropriate content.  I can't have this as I use my iPad2 in a classroom at times.  What are my options for solving this?  Any ideas as to how or why this is happening?

    Please describe the problem you are experiencing, and the equipment being affected by the problem. Your question was posted in the Power Mac Discussions area while your equipment profile indicates a Mac Pro, and a version of iOS inapplicable to either of them. All that information conflicts with itself, so please resolve those discrepancies.
