Google search in safari dropdown a pain

If you use your mouse to past an entry in the google search field the drop down will come up and place your mouse on the second entry in the drop down and overwrite the entry you pasted. It appears the when you right click and select past it happens to be just far enough down that when the drop down for the google search field comes up you are over the second field in that drop down and it then switches the search field to that value.
A real pain. Hope they fix this prior to releasing the non beta version.

Hi,
Hope they fix this prior to releasing the non beta version.
If they aren't aware of it, the odds are unlikely.

  • Spotlight Google search in Safari gives Google links in Cyrillic characters

It's bizarre, I know, but when I use Spotlight as a quick access to Google, the page comes up with the Google links (Web, Images, Groups etc. at the top; Cached, Similar pages after each entry) displayed in Cyrillic characters in a language I don't know, although the search results are in English, in Latin type. But when I navigate to Google, all the text comes out "normal" in English, in Latin type.
I presume this is somehow due to settings going astray but I can't find how to locate the settings to change them.
    (a) Does anyone know how this is happening?
    (b) Does anyone know how to fix it?
For the time being I just don't use the Spotlight Google search in Safari, but it would be a useful shortcut to be able to use it.
(Posted here on the premise that it is a Spotlight rather than a Safari problem, but also under Safari because it relates to that too.)

Try quitting Safari. Then select Safari in the Applications folder and Get Info. Deselect any Language you don't want. Close the Get Info window and reopen Safari to see if the problem is corrected. If not, you might try trashing the com.apple.Safari.plist file after quitting Safari.

  • Google Search in Safari(full-screen mode)

After freshly launching safari directly in the full screen mode, the Google search bar does not display search suggestions or history. Is it just me or its persistent with everyone on 10.7?

I have the same issue.. here is my topic

  • How do I disable the automatic google search in Safari

How do I disable the automatic google search mechanism in Safari 6.0.
When I type a url (or modify an existing one) if Safari doesn't understand/like what I type it does a Google (or whatever) search automatically.
If I have misspelled something, or made a typo, I want to know about it -- not have some twit program tell me what it thinks I wanted to know.
This is the same problem which exists for ISPs (and I realize that Apple is trying to grab the advertising dollars THEY get when you type in a bad URL).
I simply want to be able to turn OFF this "feature."
I also note that with this change it is no longer possible to select any search engine BUT Google. Annothe "feature" which I find utterly descriminating. There are many times when I want to see the results from different search engines -- as they all return different results, probably 90+% of the time.

There's not really a way to disable that feature, apple decided it would be easier for customers to have the address bar and google search bar all in one.

  • Problems with History after Google search in Safari

I've noticed recently that after I have searched on Google, any page that I have found linked in the Google search and visited only appears in my Safari History as a Google referal link, e.g.:
    http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=apple%20compressor%20mkv&source=web&cd= 1&ved=0CD0QrAIoAjAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fdiscussions.apple.com%2Fthread%2F3001472%3 Fstart%3D0%26tstart%3D0&ei=McjRUJKBBYLC0QWQ1oCQAg&usg=AFQjCNFRmEQy2X9rGesiSE4WXE u4CsYgcw&bvm=bv.1355534169,d.d2k
So, in actual fact, if I am looking for the page using keywords in my URL/Search bar, the page does not appear as a suggestion under Bookmarks and History - which is a bit annoying because I then have to repeat the Google search and try to identify the link from the results.
Is this a 'feature' or is there something I can do to revert to Safari's previous behaviour?

Just for clarification, this is what my History looks like after I have Googled the word 'spoon' and then clicked on the first ten links and opened the pages.
Unusually, there is one item in this instance (the MySpace URL) which has not done what I described but as can be seen, the rest have.

  • Issue with Google search on Safari

Hello: I am having the same issue with my iPad and iPhone 6. I think it may be related to iOS 8. when I was running iOS 7 whenever I would search for something in the Google search bar with and Safari the search bar would start to get suggestions what I may be searching for. For example if I would type in IT it would suggest that I was searching for the word Italy. Ever since I up dated to iOS 8 the suggest feature no longer works. I was wondering if this is an Apple issue and they will resolve it in a future iOS update or is there a problem with my settings. FYI in my Safari settings the default search is set to Google.
    Thank you.

I have been having this same issue since the upgrade, and I cannot seem to fix it. I have restored, but iTunes won't let me revert back to pre 8.0/2.
Have not found any kind of resolution to this problem, and it doesn't seem to be a wide issue, as this is the only post I have seen on it.
    Really annoying.

  • Denied google search access - Safari (iPhone)

Wondering about a message I recieved and have even continued to recieve from Google when searching within Safari (Google set as the search engine) on my iPhone over the 4G network not contected via Wi-Fi? Miles away from my router and the IP address listed is 500 miles away up in philly
Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. This page checks to see if it's really you sending the requests, and not a robot. Why did this happen?
    IP address: 198.228.200.145
    Time: 2012-11-06T22:34:51Z
    URL: http://www.google.com/search?q=nps&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari
In the meantime I've switched the search engine to bing, but am wondering if there is substance here I should be concerned about with my iPhone?
    Thanks Jeff

I would go to settings, safari, click clear history and clear cookies and data. then reset your phone, hol the home and off button down until the apple symbol comes up. Then relaunch safari with goole as your default and see if it works.

  • Very Slow or no response to Google Search within Safari

I am experiencing very long delays for searches (hangs if I let it) made within the Safari menu bar. Sometimes I have to reload the page multiple times before I get a response. This happens all the time now. If I go directly to Goggle and type in a search the response is fast.
    Any Ideas
PS I have Inquisitor installed but I have had this installed since its inception and this problem only began recently.

Apple changed the way DNS lookups are made in 10.5, and many, many servers do not support that particular method, so they fail to load pages. With 10.5.3, Apple changed back to the way it was done with 10.4.x, so if you update to 10.5.3, it may solve your problem(s). Make a backup first, just in case.
You might also try switching your DNS servers in your Network Settings to those from OpenDNS first to see if that solves your problem.

  • Google search language in safari

    Hi all
Does anyone know if there is a way to determine the language of google search in safari, when using the toolbar in the corner.
I would like to switch from english to german. Does anbody have an idea?

Have you gone to the gear wheel at the top right of the Google page and adjusted your Search Settings/Language appropriately?
As much as you may prefer Safari, it does lack some features that other browsers have.

  • Why is safari google search requiring authentication?

The safari google function on my iPad w/OSX6 keeps asking for a user name and password. I ave no ideas what they are asking for. Google search using Safari is useless now. So sorry I downloaded OSX6 now.....is there a fix for this?

    Pster wrote:
Exactly! Not at all understanding why poster clkuan  doesn't get it.....
First of all, you got all the terms wrong and now you said I don't get it?
Now, for the last time, you don't need a userid & password doing a search in Google unless you want to log in to some paid web sites.  I just try that to check.
And, I don't find much here in this forum similar to your case.
It still happens even after Apple gave me a new iPad!!! They seemed to know exactly what I was saying and all about the problem but would not disclose to me why it was happening...they just gave me a new  iPad. Problem is still there.
"They seem to know", how can you tell?
What I also don't understand is that, you go all the way to an Apple Store and they gave you a new iPad. You went home without checking whether your problem is solved?
Now try this, Settings > Safari > Private Browsing: OFF, Accept Cookies : From visited is selected.
Tap Clear History & Clear Cookies and Data.
Make sure and the rest of the options are ON.
Double tab Home button and delete Safari form multitask bar.
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.

  • Doing a Google Search on Iphone or Ipad chokes my wireless network!

Almost every time I do a google search in safari on my Iphone5 or Ipad2 (happened with ios 5&6), it chokes my wireless network.  I am still connected, just not going anywhere.  Found this article that said to change DNS entries to googles 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.8.4 but IT STILL CHOKES! Here is the article, describes the problem well.  http://osxdaily.com/2012/09/27/iphone-5-wifi-problem-fix/
Help Brainiacs!  I am yelling some very unladylike things upon each reboot (which solves the symptom but not the problem and leaves me vexed and mean.)
    Any suggestions?
    Lisa

Do you have the google app on your phone? if so i saw where somewhere else posted that if they had the google app open and not signed out of google in the app ( and not closed at the bottom, how you double tap the home button and close the apps ) then it would cause this issue also.

  • The problem is with Google search in FF 5.0.

The problem is with Google search in FF 5.0. Everything was fine until I upgraded to FF 5.0. Now, I enter a text and search, I get results, no problem so far. Then, I want to edit the search text slightly to fine tune, so I click in the search bar, that is it, the original search text that was still there in the bar just disappears. I tried this with IE, it works fine, problem is only with FF. Any suggestions?

  • Google search redirect to yahoo 404

Recently, when searching using my google search in safari on my iPad 1 I am redirected to a yahoo 404 error.  After resetting the iPad it seems to have gone away, but is this symptomatic of something else? This happened while on wifi.  Any insight is much appreciated!

Choose Setting > General > Safari > Clear history and Clear cookies.
There you can also change the Search engine.
